"Oh? Obaasan hired a private tutor for An?" Shō's eyebrows shot up in surprise as he absorbed this unexpected news during a casual conversation with his grandmother while assisting her in the daily operations of their cosy restaurant. "I suppose she must have been learning from various people." He muttered, his tone tinged with curiosity. "No wonder she's made such significant improvements since the last time I saw her."

As he continued to help his grandmother, Shō's thoughts lingered on the notion of private tutoring. It was definitely a beneficial learning experience, especially if the tutorials were personalised. With a decided nod, Shō made up his mind to visit one of the private tutors during the afternoon. This wasn't just a social activity - it was about An. He wanted to ensure that her mentor was a worthy influence.

The afternoon sun started to wane as Shō and his grandmother wrapped up their tasks and locked up the restaurant. Once his work was finished, Shō allowed himself a brief moment of relaxation, indulging in a refreshing bath. The warm water eased the tension from his muscles, and he took his time to let his thoughts settle. Afterward, he donned his family's traditional white dress, embroidered with their distinctive kamon on the back, signifying their heritage. Two smaller detailed mon were also present on the side, symbolising his personal coat of arms.

Stepping out onto the second-floor balcony of their restaurant-residence hybrid, Shō admired the view that had become so familiar to him. The streets below were bustling with life, each passerby contributing to the tapestry of the neighbourhood. Shō's own role was about to be woven into this narrative as well. Armed with determination, he embarked on the journey to meet Miyamoto Ikana, following the guidance provided by headquarters. "Hmm... she should be around this corner." he said as he explored the area indicated on the map.

When he looked for Ikana, he would find that she lived in a small apartment, somewhat run down, in a poorer side of Kirigakure. Dogs barked and wandered the street, as repairs were still being made to this sector from the aftermath of the Sanbi's rampage. Ikana lived here not necessarily because she couldn't afford a better place, but because it affordable. Because it was a place of familiarity for herself. The young girl had never known the luxuries of wealth or grandeur. Poverty was her lifelong companion, teacher, and humbler. When he approached, it was evidently clear that the tutor in question didn't live in a good place.

And if he were to knock on the dark wood door? He'd find it slowly opening to show a very short girl resting before him. Thirteen or fourteen years of age with short black hair that fell just past her shoulders and tired amber eyes. Dark rings lingered beneath those orbs, as she held the door open just halfway. "Ohayo..." She says, looking up with some slight confusion on who she was looking at. Ikana was relatively lithe and scrappy, with fair white skin. She wore not a Kimono or Hakama, but instead tight fitting cargo pants, a loose fitting blue shirt, and a frayed brown scarf along her neck. When looking upon him? She did seem somewhat confused on who he was.

She didn't think she knew him?

Shō stood at the entrance of Ikana's apartment, taking in the surroundings with a discerning eye. The setting was far from ideal, bearing the unmistakable signs of the Sanbi's destructive rampage. The neighborhood appeared to be in a state of constant repair and maintenance, as if still nursing its wounds from the past. Though the memories of the disaster hung in the air, Shō made a conscious effort to push them aside as he knocked on the door.

After a brief pause, the door inched open, revealing a young girl who seemed to be a mere two or three years younger than Shō himself. She wore an expression that betrayed hints of fatigue, which was the immediate impression he formed. The first impression on her was not exactly great but he knew better than to judge a book by its cover. He would withhold any judgments for now, knowing that appearances could often be deceiving.

"I'm not here to place an order." Shō spoke softly and respectfully. "I've come to talk with you. Are you Miyamoto Ikana? I've heard about your private tutoring services, and I'm quite interested in discussing the possibility of your assistance." His warm smile was intended to put her at ease, recognizing that she likely hadn't anticipated his unannounced visit. His motive, after all, was to assess his little sister's private tutor without prior notice, ensuring that her little sister was in good hands.

Someone had been spreading word that she tutored as a side job? She didn't know she was getting more popular in that department. The young brunette rubbed her eyes, and with it, clapped her hands together and bowed her head politely. "I'm sorry. I didn't expect for any visitors." Opening her door a little bit wider, she steps aside to allow him inside. "If you'd like to come inside for tea, I can warm up a pot. And we can talk more about how I can help when I offer hospitality." She smiled with her eyes closed, her head tilted cutely sideways. A kind of "moe" action.

Assuming he took her up on the offer, he could see a small, but comely little apartment. Though the inside looked a little bit spartan. There was the living room, which seemed to contain a small low hanging table with a long blanket over it which allowed someone to sit with their legs beneath covers; a bookshelf with a number of scrolls resting neatly upon it and a few other texts, as well as inkwells and long strips of paper. The sofa was old and worn, but decent enough. The kitchen that lay attached had seemed rather empty. Devoid of much, and not a single dish either upon the hearth or in the dish rack. The restroom lay in the far right hand corner, across from her bedroom.

The walls were weathered, pale, and largely barren. The only thing to liven it being a scroll with the calligraphy for "Discipline" written upon it. With a brief handseal as well as some concentration? She turns on the sink before drawing from it. Watching as a water clone is formed into existence. To help tend her clay kettle, and maybe make a little something to eat perhaps while Ikana and the big brother talked. If not about business, then the affairs that held. Slowly, the girl sits down at the low hang table, upon a cushion, crisscrossing her legs together. "How may I help you sir?"

Looking at her surprised face, Shō thought perhaps he should have given her a heads up about his visit. But then the spot check would lose its meaning. He could only pray that his sudden visit did not cause any significant inconvenience to her. When being invited to the house, he nodded in acknowledgment of her polite gesture and accepted her invitation. "Thank you. And sorry for bothering you." _{「お邪魔します」}

As Shō stepped into the apartment, he couldn't help but appreciate the small yet charming space that surrounded him. His gaze was drawn to the bookshelf adorned with scrolls and texts, along with inkwells and paper, which hinted at Ikana's profound dedication to learning. The apartment's weathered, pale walls bore a single scroll, beautifully adorned with the calligraphy for "Discipline" a motif that seemed to resonate with Ikana's character.

Seated at the low table, he settled onto a cushion and crossed his legs. "I appreciate your hospitality." Shō began with a nod of gratitude. "My name is Shō, and I've heard about your tutoring services. I'm here to discuss the possibility of arranging private lessons for my younger sister. She's at a crucial stage in her education, and I've heard excellent things about your teaching skills." His words carried a tone of respect and sincerity as he explained his primary objective. However, he refrained from disclosing the true reason behind his visit or the fact that his sister was already one of Ikana's students. After all, he had come to check on her personally as well as skills.

Shō asked politely, his question aligning with the typical inquiries made by guardians when selecting mentors for their children or younger siblings. He was now a welcome guest, and when brought before her home, she was self conscious in all things. Up until she was asked a simple question. Tell him about herself? She thought on that for a few moments, her cheeks lightly tinged pink about the teaching skills she so offered. "My name is Miyamoto Ikana. Genin, soon to be Chuunin for the village. I'm fourteen years old, and I run a shinobi convenience store. I'm trained in Bukijutsu, Fuuinjutsu, Taijutsu, and especially Ninjutsu. I'm especially adept at the Suiton element. I graduated the academy at the age of eight." Nodding her head, she was a bit of a generalist. Though, she deided to add a little bit more to this assessment.

"I live by myself, and offer tutoring as a side business. While I don't have many students, I seek to live modestly, respectfully, and seek little more than to live comfortably...If you'd like to arrange tutored lessons for your younger sister, we can organize classes and figure out where it is she needs to excel. As well as set the rate so that it's not too strenuous." She had hoped her little introduction had proved to be rather valuable in making a first impression. After all, if this was a prospective student here, she'd hope to be consistently making good ties.

Shō's was surprised at Ikana's comprehensive introduction. He had initially anticipated a brief exchange, but it had taken an unexpectedly detailed turn, resembling an interrogation. Concerned that his questions might have created a tense atmosphere, he quickly reassured her with a warm and friendly smile.

"Ah..." he began, "I apologise if my questions made it feel like an interrogation. That wasn't my intention at all. I simply wanted to get to know you better and understand your qualifications." Shō grew increasingly confident in Ikana. Her proficiency in Bukijutsu and Ninjutsu, both of which were his sister An's favorite subjects, were just great, and her other proficiencies were bonus.

With a genuine nod of approval, Shō continued, "You're truly impressive, and I have no doubt that you would be an excellent tutor for my sister. Your qualifications speak for themselves, and I'm grateful for the insights you've shared."

However, talk is always cheap. No offence to the lady but Shō wished to witness Ikana's skills firsthand through a test. He approached the subject with respect, saying, "If you don't mind, I'd like to propose a friendly spar. This is important to me, I have to ensure my sister receives quality education if possible."

He said he didn't mean to interrogate her, seemingly surprised at how well collected she was. Perhaps taken aback at how such a young face seemed so refined. "No need to apologize. You're not the first to question if I'm worthy of teaching." She said with no resentment nor ill feeling. She smiled and closed her eyes, tilting it slightly to the side right. As she usually did. Though, when he mentioned the opportunity to spar? "I'd...be inclined." She says with some slight hesitance in her tone of voice. However, she winds up nodding her head. "Let's do our best!" She says with a slight enthusiasm, but not a loud shout by any means.

"We can head for training ground twenty-two I suppose. By the Kappa Bridge. Please. Allow me a little time to get prepared." She'd take the liberty to look behind herself, and would prepare the man a simple ginger tea, to give him a little something sweet to sip on as she head off to her room. To collect her personal belongings. Her Wakizashi. Her Shuriken. Her explosive tags. All of the other miscellaneous tools. She secures her kunai holster to her thigh, her tool pouch, and places a slight mesh layer of fishnet over her shirt. Far from the most protective thing, but she'd rather have a weapon sink partially into her body than deeply into it if thrown.

Eventually. She'd return.

Headed to the Kappa Bridge, it was one with a modest stream passing through it. The area littered with small smooth white stones and smaller pebbles. A few boulders lay scattered about from those that may have practiced Doton as well as the underlying foliage of grass, weeds, and several trees. All in all, Ikana didn't likely look all that different at a surface glance. The main difference being the addition of a small black scabbard wakizashi that rest along her right thigh. A foot long blade or so. Maybe a smidgen longer. "I never did ask. What topics is it that your sister is looking to be trained in? Those are the skills I'll try highlighting the most in this meeting."

Shō felt a sense of relief that Ikana wasn't offended by their earlier conversation. Her gracious demeanour and understanding nature had created a pleasant atmosphere for both of them, and he was glad for her understanding. The fact that she had also accepted his request for a light spar brought a genuine smile to his face. "Thanks." With an appreciative tone, he left the apartment.

While Ikana stayed in the apartment to get prepared for their spar and asked him to wait at Kappa Bridge, Shō took the opportunity to walk around the housing area outside her apartment. Despite its imperfections, Kirigakure held a special place in his heart. It was his home, and the sense of familiarity and comfort it offered outweighed any drawbacks. It was second to Kibishi Yokubo Island, the hometown where he spent most of his childhood.

Reaching the planned location a few moments later, Shō found himself standing at a distance as Ikana arrived. They exchanged a few words about his sister's interests, and Shō acknowledged that it might be best to hear directly from An about her hobbies. "She likes Bukijutsu and Ninjutsu, but to be fair," Shō acknowledged, "I haven't been by her side for some time, so it would be better to ask her directly about her interests."

With their brief conversation concluded, Shō positioned himself about twenty metres away from Ikana, ready to begin their spar. "We'll stop upon contact." Shō stated. In combat, this meant ending a fight, or reset the fight with a simple touch rather than pursuing injuries or bloodshed. Shō had always adhered to this method of sparring, preferring a safe and non-violent approach. No need for blood, Shō had always preferred a safe and controlled approach to his match. If Ikana agreed, with a shared understanding, he would readied himself for the friendly bout, eager to test their skills in a controlled environment.

For a girl such as herself, she was more accustomed to the ownership of nothing. It was why there was little difficulty in her having a gracious and benevolent nature to some degree. However, when looking upon him. As they came to the bridge to initiate their spar. She found herself looking upon him with a tilt of her head when he mentioned it's end upon contact. "I see..." She found herself gazing deeply upon his form. And when she did, her eyes changed entirely. They looked colder. Calculated. As her body went more limp. She swayed back and forth for a moment or two. Perhaps considering her options.

Her hands began to flash through a series of handseals at a swift speed, and she'd begin to call them out by memory. "Ushi. Saru. Usagi. Nezu-mi. Ousu Buta. Tori. Oushi. Tora. Uma. Tori. Inu. Tora. Hebi. Oushi. Saru. Tori. Nezu-mi. Ousu Buta. Saru. Ryu. Tori. O-ushi. Uma. O-hitsuji. Tora. Hebi. Nezu-mii. Saru. Usagi. Ousu Buta. Ryu. O-ushi. Nezu-mii. O-ushi. Saru. Tori. Nezu-mii. Ousu-buta. Tori!" She holds the bird seal as she then brings her hands up and holds them horizontally towards her body. "Suiton: Suiryuudan no Jutsu!" She calls forth, as she draws forth water from her side of the bridge, the water rising tall as a pillar column. Gaining sharper more defined features as it spirals and columns inwards towards itself.

It grows taller, before its head forms. A pair of crimson eyes and sharpened horn like features as it screams outwards. A very flashy technique to say the least. It looks down upon Sho as if a demon had materialized before him. Before it screams outwards and launches its tall and nubile form towards the man before her. She was more than sure that the jutsu wasn't going to harm him. Not significantly anyways. As powerful as the technique was, it took many handseals and time to prepare such a jutsu. As it crashes onto the earth before the, even if Sho was to fully dodge, he'd be able to see the jutsu rip through the earth as if hit by a pressured hose. Tearing a swathe into the earth. Before it'd explode and bring forth a small downpour of rain.

Suiryuudan no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu utilizing the Water Element. The ninja does a long string of hand seals which then causes a column of water in the form of a dragon to rise from the water and then strike their target. While being the same rank as Suikoudan no Jutsu, the two techniques have slight differences. Where as Suikouden is a slightly faster attack, Suiryuudan deals more damage against the target and has a farther range, but also requires more handseals to be performed.

The natural beauty of the river captivated Shō's attention. Its crystal-clear waters flowed peacefully, with a few fish gracefully swimming beneath the surface. They stood on a bridge that spanned the river, connecting two separate lands. While the bridge was an engineering marvel, Shō found the river itself more precious. Its unspoiled beauty was a testament to nature's wonders.

Still, vandalism was a crime, and he had no intention of infringing upon it. With a sudden leap, he descended on the river surface, causing the nearby fish to dart away from the source of disturbance. As he stood by the water's edge, he observed Ikana forming hand seals with remarkable speed, which left him surprised. "Suiryuudan no Jutsu? From a genin? That is surprising." Shō recognised the Water Dragon Projectile Technique. Despite being a B-ranked technique, it was renowned for its insane number of hand seal sequences. However, regardless how quick she was, it was hard to match against a technique with less than a few seals.

In response to Ikana's giant water dragon, Shō bit his thumb, swiftly forming a series of hand seals. He slammed his bitten palm onto the ground and shouted, "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!" A cloud of smoke emerged, revealing a medium-sized bald eagle with fierce characteristics. The eagle appeared to be flying towards Ikana at incredible speed, ready to attack. However, what Ikana saw as a menacing threat was merely an illusion created by Shō's illusion. He had trained extensively to make the illusion appear realistic and dangerous, and he hoped it would distract Ikana enough to disrupt her jutsu, or bait her for attack.

Should Ikana persist in her intent to unleash the water dragon to him, even in the face of the illusory hawk's presence, Shō would swiftly spring into action. He'd aim to dodge the impending water assault while simultaneously forming a mushroom shield with just two quick hand seals. Though the shield couldn't offer full protection against the formidable water dragon, it did provide a measure of defence. Both dodging and shielding combined would likely allow him to emerge from the situation with minimal harm. This favourable outcome was also due to his opponent was holding back a little, which he sensed through his keen perception, honed through his experience as a hunter-nin.

In truth. To Ikana, this was more of a display of what she was capable of. Less so a spar she was taking deeply seriously. More theatrical than the most practical application of skill. That notion was dropped as soon as she saw him bite his thumb. Ikana dropped her handseal sequence then, realizing she wouldn't finish it in time. Her hand reached upwards to perhaps bite at her own thumb. Though, it was too late. He'd already pulled his off first. Summoning Jutsu. He called out. A brilliant puff of smoke as he brings forth an eagle. A bird she'd never seen before. She found herself falling back a short distance, as the bird takes flight. Weaving her own short sequence.

"Kirigakure no Jutsu..." Manipulating the mist about her, she causes it to thicken and intensify, manipulating the water around her as a dense fog fills in. So thick that one wouldn't be able to even see past their own hand. As the eagle swoops towards her. Thinking for sure that it'd be unable to find her in the thickness of the mist, regardless of its keen eyes. She chains her jutsu into another sequence then. "Suiton: Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu..." She call out loud, and with it, she manipulates the water by her to form three duplicates. Each of them rushing forward as Ikana listens for the sounds of flapping wings. Honing her instincts.

Sho could see the clones burst from the mist toward him, in a three man wing formation, swapping and alternating as they meld and shift between one another to make his eyes focus upon them, perhaps questioning if the original is still amongst them. Rushing towards the jutsu caster to engage him and potentially overwhelm him on three fronts.

"Ah..." As the illusory creature disrupted Ikana's hand seals, Shō couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment and regret over his decision. He had hoped to see the full extent of the genin's abilities — after all, that was the main reason for his visit, to assess her suitability as a tutor for his younger sister. Despite his wish to witness Ikana's prowess, he found himself reflexively countering his opponent's jutsu, nothing but testament to the kunoichi's skill before him.

Before Shō could manipulate the illusion further to confuse Ikana, his vision was obstructed by a sudden mist. As a shinobi from Mizu no Kuni, he swiftly recognised it as the village's signature technique, Kirigakure no Jutsu. Reacting instinctively, he retreated from the river, making his way back to the green pastures. While his retreat cost him a few valuable seconds, he felt much safer on solid ground than risking a confrontation on the water, where Ikana held expertise.

Upon hearing Ikana summoning a shadow clone from a distance, Shō swiftly countered with his mist technique, shouting, "Keizokuteki no Jutsu!" He didn’t bother forming any hand seals, because the jutsu is actually an auditory genjutsu. With the mist obscuring both of their visions, all he needed to ensure was his voice carried loudly enough for his opponent to hear the deceptive words.

Using his expertise in illusion manipulation, Shō generated a thick mist in Ikana and her clones' vision. It was thick enough that effectively rendered himself invisible to their sight. Additionally, he manipulated their hearing in order to conceal his footsteps as he quickly moved to a nearby tall tree.

This meeting was perhaps a little bit coincidental, if not prophetic regarding the nature of their meeting. How they would later on meet in the field of battle alongside one another. However, in these moments, as Ikana found herself resting in the mist, with her clones making their advance, there was something a bit off. Though she couldn't tell quite right away. It was only when the clones began to exit her mist, that it seemed to have spread. Spread farther and more than she would have expected. What was that jutsu?...

As the clones reach their maximum range, they approach and are unknowingly within Sho's range, but no longer under the cover of the rolling mist she'd just created. That said? Each of Ikana's clones closed their eyes, and swiftly used the splashing of the water to recognize and come to each other's aid. Their feet tapping along the surface to allure the other's attention before entering a three way formation. Their backs against one another in a triangular stance. Though they didn't see nor hear the flapping of wings of that eagle. Where did it go?

Each of them draw forth Wakizashi swords from their waists, slick blades as they take deep breaths. "I've never heard of a jutsu like this..." One clone calls to the other. "Neither have I. But we can't navigate and move like this." Before the third clone then says, "We just need to buy some time and help the original learn what she can learn. So shut up...We need to be quiet." That said? They remain quiet as mice, listening for any sign of their foe.

Meanwhile? The real Ikana weaved handseals for her greatest jutsu yet.

Despite the illusory mist playing with the girls' perceptions, Ikana skillfully regrouped with her clones with her wits. "Wow, that's impressive!" Shō silently complimented the kunoichi from the concealment of the tree's top. Truth be told, Ikana had already proven herself more than capable of being his sister's teacher. In fact, the Gure felt that she was close enough to be a Chunin.

However, could she escape his genjutsu? Would this be too harsh for a genin? Just when he thought Ikana might struggle to escape the illusion and contemplated releasing the genjutsu, he then saw her weaving hand seals. "Oh?" Shō swiftly reconsidered his earlier decision. Anticipating a formidable attack, he decided to act first.

While maintaining the mist genjutsu, he quickly weaved two simple hand seals before pointing his finger towards the perplexed girls. Following a recoil, a concentrated burst of spores was shot in their direction. Since this was a friendly spar, the move he just executed wasn't lethal; it was merely a disorienting cloud of spores to further confuse them.

Still standing on the elevated position, Shō waited patiently for the kunoichi’s response, wondering what would be the next surprise she would be showing to him? How would she overcome the genjutsu, and countered the technique he just used? Heck, it might not even reach her, depending on what kind of jutsu she was about to use.
