" Just surviving in life isn’t the same as living "
Hisao bit back another question and watched him move about. He had watched with concealed interest as Kobashi secured the sheath to his ninjato, knowing that one day he would likely have to learn to wield a proper weapon himself, rather than sticking to solely using kunai and shurikens. Technically he knew he would never be completely without a weapon should he truly need it, but he would rather not that come to show..
However when Kobashi had produced the small fruit from the bag, he regretted not having spent more time target practising.. This was not going to be easy, not that Hisao had ever expected as much from Kobashi, seeing as whether it had been a pop quiz on some history lesson or general tasks, Hisao had the impression nothing but near perfection would ever be enough for him.
So while the task itself, breaking the skin of a persimmon, sounded easy enough, he knew Kobahsi was never going to let it be just that.
Hisao thought through his options - he had gotten fairly good at using the Hidden Mist technique but even if it might help him conceal where his attacks would come from, it would help Kobashi and his unnatural silence so much more than it ever would Hisao, so that idea got scrapped pretty quickly.. His clones were still pretty useless, as they would take form but they still did not cast a shadow and Hisao knew Kobashi would never fall for them anyways. Exhausting most of his jutsu, he knew he would likely have to run in there without any, as most of what remained was for healing or defence and not something that was likely to help him here.
With that in mind, Hisao had drawn another kunai and looked around. Even the pond wouldn’t help him, as he’d seen Kobashi walk on the water's surface before. Best he could do now was to try and distract Kobashi and attempt to get a hit in that way.
Hisao swallowed the discomfort of rushing in and did just that - running towards him in what he tried to make a randomised zig-zag pattern, for while Hisao had never been the strongest of his peers, he had always been fast.
His plan settled, Hisao would throw one kunai towards where the persimmon was held aloft, knowing it wouldn’t hit, but potentially distracting Kobashi enough to he wouldn’t notice the second kunai, direct lower towards his chest, towards where someone’s hand would naturally be directed if they tried to protect something small from being snatched away.
He would then continue his movement, moving around him with enough distance where Hisao assumed Kobashi would still have to move from his spot to hit him, even with the distance of the sheathed blade. Even if he would not have hit anything, the way Kobashi would react to this might help him plan for his next attack.
