[attr="class","skullbody"]This was like the war games all over again. More precisely this was exactly that, a war game. Ichi had been trying to submit this sort of training mission into the system for months now, but hadn't been assigned anyone that would be taking his request. This was corrected slightly when the Nakahara had received a request from Sachi, a more distant cousin of his from the Kisei, to help her train. Who was he to refuse the genuine request of a wonderful soul from his village. What did surprise him though was her request to also include a Konohagakure shinobi in the training rather then a teammate of hers. Frankly he liked the initiative, pulling the strings to get the mission approved and okayed to take for the Uchiha that she wished to invite had been simple work for the Leader Assistant. Especially when he handled a lot of the paperwork that was involved.

Waiting for the two to arrive from the edge of the Hummingbird forest Ichi smiled as he puffed on his pipe, the strong scent of pumpkin and dried earth pungent in the air around him and his smoke. Taking the time before the mission would begin to relax himself from the long days of politics and paper pushing that he had been enjoying of late. The lumbering giant went over the placements of the Ashigarou, went over the rules in his head again, and then simply enjoyed the view. Ichi never got the time to really do this anymore outside the village, and that was fine. He would be supremely busy soon with setting up a massive number of things, so he was not concerned with the loss of freedom to the fields for now, he had a life time to sew the land and bring life to the loam.

Ichi's SA's and Techniques in Use:[break][break]

『Harvest Moon's Child』
Ichi was born to the Nakahara clan on the night of a Harvest Moon. Born with quite the green thumb he was assumed to be an inheritor of the clan's natural talents with plants. The roots ran deeper, however, as Ichi was born with a Kekkai Genkai, being a rare natural occurance of Wood Release outside of the Senju. In learning of this he has trained his kekkai to the best of his abilities. He is no master, seeing as he has no reference of Mokuton, but he has found a way to bring out techniques along side his own talents in a cohesive manner.

『Weaver of Wood』
Ichi was born with Mokuton, but he was not graced with the same level of chakra as the Senju would be in his situation. Being roughly average for an individual, Ichi instead focused on the skills his birth clan preferred. Practicing his medical skills, he has gained a higher quality of Chakra Control. Ichi is much less likely to leak chakra than the average shinobi because of this.

『The Festival's Atmosphere』
Having practiced his skills with extending his senses outwards with the use of mokuton chakra, Ichi is particularly adept at sensing life in an area. Capable of finding life through the very nature around people. Within [20 meters] Ichi is capable of passively sensing out plant and animal life in a general sense. Able to differentiate it between plant and animal, but no further. Unlike chakra sensory Ichi can not more or less readily sense others based on their chakra, but instead purely senses the 'vitality' in things, though even those with seemingly boundless vitality will read the same as the elderly or a newborn to him. Also unlike usually sensory to actively search out individuals Ichi requires Mokuton, or the use of his pipe (though using it makes his position much easier to locate), as a catalyst to extend his senses, only going out as far as the technique's range, or twice his passive range in case of the pipe. It is also notable that the deceased, and those that feign death in some fashion, as through a poison or a jutsu, are completely invisible to Ichi. Notably the furthest he can extend his senses is [100 meters].

[Uchiha, Kai]

Kai never saw himself as much of a leader. In truth, after his last failure, he felt a bit... Disheartened, about the idea of it, and often found himself being led, rather than the other way around. So when Sachi asked him to not only come and visit, but also join her on a mission that involved leading armies, or some such... It came as a shock.

But the first part of growth was confronting ones fears, and as much as he feared the idea of leadership, due to the stress of failure... He promised he would not fail in this endeavor. Especially not with not only Sachi watching, but her village members and close ones.

This was an important moment for him, and walking up to the designated person he'd been given a description of, one 'Ichi Nakahara', Kai adjusted the helm of his armor and shook his shoulders, weapon ready.

"Greetings. I was told to speak to you." First, before the battle started, of course. For instructions on how exactly this would be going down, and any rules he'd have to follow. As well as that, it'd be a good way to introduce himself, in truth.

"I am Uchiha, Kai. And Sachi should be arriving... Any... Second... Now." He turned around, hoping he'd be right on time with that. She was just following quickly behind him after all, no?

[Kisei Sachi]

"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."

Today's mission was more focused on training, specifically strategy training, which happened to be one of Sachi's weak points. Despite her impressive memory recall abilities, she struggled with games that required strategic thinking. While she could memorize war books, tactics, and related materials, comprehending and applying them in practice posed a different challenge. Recognizing her limitations, she submitted a request for this training mission, and she brought along her new friend from Konohagakure, Uchiha Kai. She was pleasantly surprised that the request had been approved, as she had assumed that Genin from the Hidden Leaf wouldn't be able to leave the village without special permission—not knowing how much special permission Ichi-niisan was actually able to obtain. She was grateful that they were able to train together, although she was uncertain how their ambiguous relationship might appear to her older relative.

Sachi stepped away from the path from the moment, the same one that Kai was walking on. She was light on feet, geta sandals making as little noise as she could, and she dashed away for a moment to go down a different trail. She had memorized multiple trails ahead of time, depending on where her older relative said for them to meet. The older relative, Nakahara Ichi, often tagged along with Taka-niichan on multiple occasions when they visited family events, Ichi being directly related to her father. As a child, when she saw her two older relatives, she always tried to sneak up on them, hiding behind corners or running up behind them to spook the two who were like older brothers she couldn’t have.

Of course, both being seasoned shinobi, her efforts were always in vain since her relatives could easily sense her approaching. Sachi had already noticed long before she entered the academy, noticing often that they would pretend that they didn’t sense her at all but that didn’t stop her from trying from time to time. It was like a ritual to her, a greeting at this point.

Popping out behind a tree that was just to the side of the pipe puffing Nakahara, Sachi flailed her arms as if successful in her attempt. Sachi flailed her arms in the air as if she had successfully surprised him.

"Surprise!! The great Kisei Sachi has appeared!" It was her trademark phrase; one she had cultivated over nearly a decade. She giggled to herself before offering a more formal greeting, catching a strong whiff of pumpkin in the breeze, feeling a twinge of guilt for leaving Kai when the older Genin turned around to not see her there.

"It's been a while, Ichi-niisan!! Not that I haven't seen you here and there around the city of course." she said with a small tilt of her head.

[attr="class","skullbody"]Ichi had sensed them for a good moment, but unlike most - the young man didn't care to reveal his sensory unless it was necessary to do so. Ichi simply loomed and smiled at the approaching youths and it was quite entertaining given what it was. Ichi had noted Sachi's antics from the beginning of her motions and Kai, unlike his relative, stayed fairly on route for the purpose of reaching the grounds they would be using. A kind smile attached to Ichi's face as he lowered his head slightly in greeting to the Uchiha boy before Sachi would enact her 'jumpscare'. The smile turning from what it was on the giant to a grin as one of his long arms reached out to ruffle Sachi's hair affectionately as she appeared from behind him.

"Its very nice to see you both today. I'm sure Sachi-chan has told you about me, but I am Nakahara Ichi her cousin technically," Ichi would state addressing Kai with his silver eyes meeting the boy's own. An unnatural level of calm eminating from the Nakahara boy, "I must say I hadn't expected Sachi to be bringing people all the way home from Konoha, but its always sweet to see friendships made anywhere I believe. We didn't all meet here just to chat over tea or anything though so I do hope your ready. In the forest I have already positioned two small teams of three ashigaru who were kind enough to volunteer."

Ichi would take a long drag from his pipe before continuing, smoke slowly filling the air with the scent of fall, "Your job is not actually to fight and defeat the other necessarily. Its to use the environment and the distraction to make contact first. Hide, strike from the shadows, don't get found first. The win condition is catching the other off-guard first. The ashigaru can be sent out as you wish, but they have their own training points to consider. Using destructive or disruptive jutsu to the environment is absolutely not allowed. Sachi-chan may know, but for record this place is sacred ground for Kusagakure and ruining it is punishable by law... please just don't make a mess? The game will begin when you hear my companion Jukoku cry out in a howl. It'll sound like a screaming person, can't miss it."[break][break]

Leading the two inside Ichi would point the two in seperate directions and let them split as they chose to. Deeper inside they would find two groups of three ashigaru, younger from the looks, armed with basic armor and wooden weapons meant to engage. From where they would move there was so much forest between the two it was impossible to make anything out, but the engaging rules had been made clear and from here it was Ichi's job to simply referee and alter the field. Adaptation was important after all. Forming his hand seals to perform one of his barriers Ichi would not forget to place one of his drugs within his pipe to inhale. Having made his way back towards the entance as he began to exhale pollen from his mouth. The sign Jukoku needed to signal the exercise begin.

『Master of Festival Games』

Ichi is incredibly smart for someone his age, but he lacks the qualifications to be a scholar. This is because his intelligence is not found in understanding of principles and anything so magnificiently deep. It instead lies in his observational talents and ability to react to everything that is going on around him with an absolute calm. Being able to plan and act with just minute details to go off of, Ichi is best described as a schemer and a diplomat rather than a genius. This makes him perfect for roles that are heavy in Tactical and Diplomatic Decision Making, as he grasps larger images and can put together clues better than others. Effectively allowing him to take in the wider picture of everything going on and piece together practical responses in mere moments with little to no hesitation or error.

[Uchiha, Kai]

Kai smiled over at Sachi. Always a joy to see, no matter the time or place. Still, his eyes drifted back to Ichi, knowing it was important they complete this mission. He listened to the instructions. It wasn't a real combat exercise- No, it seemed it was some sort of training excursion. Catch the other off guard first.

"Don't worry. I do not plan to damage the forest." Short and to the point- Much more formal and simple than his talks with Sachi. She'd notice it for sure.

Kai's mind drifted on potential plans as he made his way through the woods. In truth, he hardly paid attention to the other two, giving a deeper, careful understanding of the assignment before him. While he deeply cared for Sachi and respected her cousin, he also respected that this was a mission, and not something he could just screw around in.

No, he'd spent far too many missions back at home screwing around that almost cost him his life. Still, the lack of ability to use his destructive jutsu would make this far more difficult then he thought. His first idea was to create a wildfire in the forest, and slowly pull the opposing forces into a chokepoint where they'd be open to a quick ambush.

But that wasn't going to happen. No unneeded destruction to the grove meant his Katon, as well as most of his techniques, were completely useless here. A curse to only be bound to the element of fire, but alas, he'd learn more as he grew. Still, three men at his disposal, he had an interesting task ahead of him.

Sachi was brilliant, at least in Kai's eyes, so he assumed she'd be thinking 3 steps ahead of him at all times. As such, he'd have to use his actual experience in warfare to try and complete this mission, which was far easier said than done.

Instead, they'd have to do something a little different. Sitting down with the three men, Kai would examine each one carefully, trying to gauge their strengths and weaknesses. Truthfully, trying to get down every mans personality was... Going to take a lot longer than what they had, so instead, he formulated a plan.

"Does anyone here know well the local area? ... Routes, roads. Less-traveled dirt paths." He questioned quietly, sitting in the bush. A probing engagement where the goal was to find the other person first- This task would require a bit more tact then just rushing through the woods, and in truth, Kai knew the area far less than the Ashigaru he was working with.

>Kai asks his men, quietly, about the local paths and lesser known routes, trying to gauge any sort of intel he can out of the area before he commits to an ambush plan.

"I'll tell him later... unless Taka-niichan mentions it first," the girl giggled to herself, reminding herself that she should properly introduce her multicolored-eyed Konoha friend as her partner. She smiled widely, took off her hair ties, and quickly combed over her pink strands before retying them, her hair slightly messy due to Ichi messing with it. Humming quietly to herself, she felt a heavy sense of nostalgia from her younger years. After Ichi gave a rundown of the instructions, Sachi nodded and glanced at Kai every now and then. Once all the rules and regulations were explained, the spirited Kisei followed Ichi into the forest.

Taking off her apron, Sachi walked through the forest path. She made sure Kai was out of sight before she began gathering dead leaves and fallen twigs, using the apron as a makeshift bag. She figured she could quickly create a cover to hide herself if she couldn't think of any other methods. The many trees of the Hummingbird Forest were already shedding their leaves in preparation for winter, so it was a good time to make use of them. Sachi planned to use her chakra sutures to secure everything, as the strings would dissolve eventually, leaving nothing to litter the forest once they left. The only issue was that it revealed where she had traversed, and she tried to be conscious when choosing her materials, making sure their tracks were somewhat covered up. She wasn’t aware of Ichi’s plans to change the terrain quite yet.

Sachi couldn't help but think about Kai, who had just entered into a year-long relationship with her. He had quite good eyes and had demonstrated an ability to spot her quickly and efficiently. She knew the Uchiha Clan was known for their keen awareness and their ability to copy jutsu, and Kai certainly had an eye out for her even without his abilities as an Uchiha. Her bright pink hair and attire made her easy to spot for anyone, but his infatuation for her added to his ability to spot her, and she knew she needed a workaround for that. She planned to change her appearance once the match had started, grateful for her small size as it made it easier to hide.

As she approached her destination, Sachi's attention turned to the three ashigaru assigned to her. They appeared younger, though she knew that she might seem young to them as well.

She introduced herself with a long bow, showing respect for her fellow subordinates."Kisei Sachi from Genin Team 1. I'll be in your care for today." She was excited, even if she wasn't well-versed in strategy or other aspects of the mission.

"If I may ask, what are the training points that the ashigaru must consider. Ichi-niisama mentioned when he briefed me on the mission.” Sachi purposely changed her honorifics when addressing him to the ashigaru as she inquired about their requirements for "winning” the match. Even if their objectives didn’t exactly line up with her plans in her mind, she wanted to work with them. "Also, I would like to know how adept is everyone at acting?”

After receiving the answers, she sought, Sachi scaled one of the taller trees in the forest. She chose one that was both tall and wide, with branches that could support two feet and a person. From her vantage point, she gazed upon the landscape, realizing that the dense forest may have changed since the last time she had visited or studied the map. Sometimes nature had a funny way of creating new opportunities that she would least expect. There were many moments when she traveled through the country on missions only to find her extremely good memory not up to par with how the terrain changes throughout a season or so. She wanted to scope out possible routes she hadn't seen before and wanted to test the view from the tree, analyzing its ability to provide good cover and a hiding spot.

[attr="class","skullbody"]Ichi was already rather pleased with the fact that the two were so ready to do this. It was the best that he asked for this training exercise now that he really thought about it. Dispersing the barrier out across the forested area the pollen had sunk down into the ground and grass of a vibrant green had grown where there had originally been none. It was not hindering in and of itself, but that was only the start of Ichi's obsfucation. They would need to adapt fast if they didn't want to get caught, his focus on forming the handseals practiced and measured as he placed a palm to the earth and exhaled into it, his pipe on his lips with a gentle bite to hold it in place. The grass in front of him rapidly beginning to grow out wide and tall, blocking out direct vision in the 100 meters between the two as he willed for more of the grass then normal to grow tall and dense.[break][break]

Using his sensory then, he begain to focus on finding the two genin within the foliage.

Frankly, they were impressed with a young man standing in armor heavier then them calling himself a shinobi. He didn't introduce himself, but they could tell from the headband and his general straight-to-the-point speaking. What were they feeding the kids in Konohagakure? Shaking their heads collectively the group of men laughed and prepped, "Ain' nothin' like 'at 'ere in Nohara friend. Not 'ere in Hummin'bird Forest as it were. This 's sacred turf, our bes' bets not t' trample too much and try and meet our competition 'n this head on."[break][break]

The group of three men seemed to nod. One carried a lighter set of armor and a bow, the second a tetsubo, and the speaker had been lanky fellow weilding a pair of practice swords. His reach rather long looking with his arms. The three looked on the younger side and generally ready to listen to his orders having given their bit of lip on the matter.

Sachi would focus on the actual motivations of the ashigaru and the answer she would recieve is simple, 'hits equal kills on the ashigaru and they were tasked to eliminate the other three on the team.' In the same coordination the squad had the same configuration as Kai's, a bowmen in lighter armor, a soldier with a tetsubo, and a fellow with dual swords as their main weapon. Having decided to scout from a lateral advantage Sachi would watch as the pollen fell and became grass only for it grow massive in size a moment later, blocking any chances for a ground view of the enemy without some amount of trickery.[break][break]

How the two would adapt was up to them.

Ichi's SA's and Techniques in Use:[break][break]

『Harvest Moon's Child』
Ichi was born to the Nakahara clan on the night of a Harvest Moon. Born with quite the green thumb he was assumed to be an inheritor of the clan's natural talents with plants. The roots ran deeper, however, as Ichi was born with a Kekkai Genkai, being a rare natural occurance of Wood Release outside of the Senju. In learning of this he has trained his kekkai to the best of his abilities. He is no master, seeing as he has no reference of Mokuton, but he has found a way to bring out techniques along side his own talents in a cohesive manner.

『Weaver of Wood』
Ichi was born with Mokuton, but he was not graced with the same level of chakra as the Senju would be in his situation. Being roughly average for an individual, Ichi instead focused on the skills his birth clan preferred. Practicing his medical skills, he has gained a higher quality of Chakra Control. Ichi is much less likely to leak chakra than the average shinobi because of this.

『The Festival's Atmosphere』
Having practiced his skills with extending his senses outwards with the use of mokuton chakra, Ichi is particularly adept at sensing life in an area. Capable of finding life through the very nature around people. Within [20 meters] Ichi is capable of passively sensing out plant and animal life in a general sense. Able to differentiate it between plant and animal, but no further. Unlike chakra sensory Ichi can not more or less readily sense others based on their chakra, but instead purely senses the 'vitality' in things, though even those with seemingly boundless vitality will read the same as the elderly or a newborn to him. Also unlike usually sensory to actively search out individuals Ichi requires Mokuton, or the use of his pipe (though using it makes his position much easier to locate), as a catalyst to extend his senses, only going out as far as the technique's range, or twice his passive range in case of the pipe. It is also notable that the deceased, and those that feign death in some fashion, as through a poison or a jutsu, are completely invisible to Ichi. Notably the furthest he can extend his senses is [100 meters].[break][break]

『Master of Festival Games』

Ichi is incredibly smart for someone his age, but he lacks the qualifications to be a scholar. This is because his intelligence is not found in understanding of principles and anything so magnificiently deep. It instead lies in his observational talents and ability to react to everything that is going on around him with an absolute calm. Being able to plan and act with just minute details to go off of, Ichi is best described as a schemer and a diplomat rather than a genius. This makes him perfect for roles that are heavy in Tactical and Diplomatic Decision Making, as he grasps larger images and can put together clues better than others. Effectively allowing him to take in the wider picture of everything going on and piece together practical responses in mere moments with little to no hesitation or error.

Closing his eyes, Kai thought on what was told to him. Sacred land... That meant it was relatively untouched.

"No." He said, though this was almost a suggestion more then a firm answer, as he considered their options. "We can use this to our advantage. This is sacred ground, right? Then the opponent will be more hesitant to fire on or damage it, if we're properly hiding amongst it." He muttered, looking over his squad of troops.

When grass began to grow around them, however, it complicated things further. Kai bit his tongue. Of course there would be some additional nonsense to think of. What made this more difficult for him was his heavy reliance on fire. Not a great tool in a place you're not allowed to damage.

"Alright. All three of you, take positions behind the trees. The plan is to let them come to us. I have better sensory abilities than my girlfriend, so it may be-" He realized he let the word 'girlfriend' slip as he cleared his throat, before continuing as if nothing happened.

"It's to our benefit if they come to us. Watch for rustles in the grass, or movements in the trees." He said, as he looked around before finding a patch of red flowers. How convenient. Slipping behind them himself, making sure not to damage them, he lowered himself to the ground.

The grass wall between the two was a good distance away, which gave him enough distance and time to scan the horizon for opponents. He quickly activated his Sharingan and looked towards the distance, the Dojutsu able to see small changes in the grass, and reveal the unseen.

"Use the foliage and trees as cover. If you see someone, call out and stay in cover- The archer and I will support you from the distance while our third member flanks around." He explained calmly. It was a good plan, in thought, but seeing if it'd play out in reality was to be determined.
