Guardian Corps
The King calls and we serve

ORGANIZATION ORIGIN: Iwagakure

ORGANIZATION HEADQUARTERS: Iwagakure

ORGANIZATION PURPOSE

There is no greater duty than protecting the great city of Iwagakure and the people in it's walls. Many in the Guardian Corps see the protection of Iwa as their sole purpose in life, it gives them their will to live. In that pursuit the members of the Guardian Corps have an array of defensive tactics and abilities at their disposal. Some of the strongest defenses in all of Iwagakure if not the world are housed within this organizations ranks. Some spend their time focusing on defense based ninjutsu arts, wether that be barriers or doton walls; others specialize in defensive weaponry such as shields or traps; others still specialize in defensive taijutsu techniques. No matter the techniques used, all in the corps view the protection of Iwagakure as their primary goal.

Being that the Corps is responsible for the maintenance of Iwagakure's defensive systems, and in the training of many of it's shinobi defense force, those within the corp have a duty to find new and innovative ways to defend their village. In pursuit of this goal, and to accommodate the wide variety of tactics found in the concept of 'defense,' the Guardian corps is split into many different groups.

Despite this split in their ranks, the Guardian Corps are committed to the same goal: providing the best in both preemptive and reactionary defense. By decree of the Tsuchikage this organization continues to grow and better itself. Working with other organizations in the village to ensure they are always at their best.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

Grand Marshal
The leader of the entire Defense Corps the Grand Marshal is expected to be the greatest defense master, and overall greatest shinobi, in the ranks of the Defense Corps. Usually the Grand Marshall is a shinobi of great renown who has not only shown themselves to be powerful but a creator of defense jutsu. The Grand Marshal is given a great deal of responsibility.

They're expected to manage all 4 divisions of the Guardian Corps. Making sure that the Wardens are keeping the peace, overseeing investigations, monitoring for internal corruption. Analyzing the work of the Barrier Squad and ensuring the effectiveness of their constructs. Keeping track of the Sensor Divisions network of ninjutsu monitoring systems. Helping in the development of Yamatate's ninjutsu and determining what targets they're in charge of guarding. The Marshal has no end to their responsibilities within the Corps.

Yamatate
The largest and arguably most influential of the divisions, the Yamatate [lit. Mountain Shield] are tasked with the development and mastery of defensive ninjutsu arts. Largely made up of Doton users as well as members of the Tantetsu clan, they are expected to be leaders in the creation of a large variety of defensive ninjutsu.

Primarily known for their position as Iwagakure's defensive force they are often used in warfare specifically as a defensive force from outside invaders as opposed to the typical offensive military groups. They are also tasked with the defense of a large swath of important structures and locations across the Land of Earth. For this reason members of the Yamatate are often called to actually be far from Iwagakure itself, working as small defensive forces protecting other important cities, border crossings, or famous landmarks.

Despite being largely known for these physical aspects of their job, research and development is just as if not more important to the Yamatate's work. When not outside the village walls members of the Yamatate largely focus on honing their craft and creating new techniques.

Lead by a Captain, this is usually the strongest member of the Yamatate itself, often some form of Tantetsu or other shinobi with enhanced defensive abilities. Thus, often the captain of the Yamatate is considered by many to be next in line for the title of Grand Marshal. Though this is by no means officially the case, and a leader of one of the other Divisions can also advance to that position. The captain has a number of Liutenants underneath them who are often in charge of a small squadron of their own within the ranks. These squadrons made up of simple Cadets

Wardens
The Wardens are the second largest division of the Guardian Corps, functioning largely as the Land of Earth's Military Police force. The largest of tasks undertaken by this division is the day to day policing of Iwagakure itself. Members of this division are seen on daily patrols through the village, and are tasked with conducting investigations into any crime within the village and within the rank and file of the shinobi forces of Iwagakure. In conjunction with this task The Wardens also work as the guards of Iwagakure's Shinobi prison system.

The Chief Warden is the head of this division, being responsible for both the management of the police force as a whole and the head of security of Iwagakure's maximum security prison. Underneath the Chief are his Deputies who do most of the day to day monitoring of the actual routes police take, the monitoring over multiple large investigations, or the recruiting process of the Wardens. And then of course you also have your regular Officers who are simply tasked with monitoring their daily routes or investigating small crimes.

Sensor Division
The Sensor Division is tasked not only with the training of promising sensor shinobi, but is also in charge of a vast array of sensory networks around Iwagakure. Many of these sensory fields are designed as a mss surveillance system across Iwagakure to constantly monitor for outside threats. If an outside threat manages to breach Iwagakure's other defenses, the Sensory Array is designed to track any unknown or otherwise notable chakra signatures in the village.

Not purely about the villages own array, the Sensor Division is also tasked with the research of other villages sensory capabilities and the disturbance or destruction there of. A specialized squad of shinobi given this task in case of times of war.

The Captain of the Sensor Division is tasked with the direct overseeing of the villages sensory array, and often reports directly to the Tsuchikage themself. Underneath him are the Sensor Division's Sergeants responsible for the daily maintenance of the Sensor array, usually simply responsible for maintaining the jutsu that monitor the city.

Barrier Squad
A rather recent addition to the ranks of the Guardian Corps, this group started as a small subset of shinobi within the Yamatate Division. AShortly after the Third Shinobi World War, however, the Barrier Squad emerged as it's own division due to increasing specialization in it's techniques and a ground swell of pride within its ranks.

Members of the Barrier Squad often forego the use of broader elemental techniques such as Doton in their Ninjutsu, instead focusing on pure chakra barriers. Wether created through regular ninjutsu or the creation of specialized seals members of the Barrier Corps specialize in making incredible chakra constructs without the need for elemental transformation.

Barrier ninjutsu is a rather rare tactic on the battle field, and as such the Barrier squad often make a point to snatch up any promising shinobi. Rather than pure ninjutsu, as the Yamatate tend to be, the Barrier Squad are known to employ a wide array of fuinjutsu specialists as well.

The Captain of the Barrier Squad is often a well respected savant, with power rivaling that of the Yamatate captain themself. Underneath the Barrier Squad captain are Corporals, who are tasked with the actual development of the raw barrier techniques within the division and are often called to activate these barriers during times of struggle.

ORGANIZATION HISTORY

The brainchild of Hisakawa Ozaki and the First Tsuchikage, Himishi Ujiyasu, the Guardian Corps was made as a counter to the Blast Corps. Suggested as the ultimate shield to compliment the ultimate spear that was the Blast Corps, the Guardian Corps was born. Enlisting the best defensive specialists in the village, the group excelled in revolutionizing Iwagakure’s defensive tactics as well as training many Shinobi to provide a defense as strong as the mountains surrounding their village.

From their they continued to grow, the outer walls of Iwagakure were thickened, thousands of defensive Jutsu were created to help the village, all aspects were looked into, from Barrier Ninjutsu to good old Doton, the Guardian Corps soon found itself grown to multiple divisions instead of a few skilled individuals. Branching off into four separate divisions, all led by the Grand Marshal, the strongest and usually oldest out of all of them. Often testing their methods against the like of the Blast Corps, the Defense Corps has risen to a prominence within the village, their members managing and planning for any crisis or attacks that may befall Iwagakure, and mitigating the damages to structures and citizenry.

Though the many wars have put their methods to the test, and forced them reinvent and revitalize their techniques, the unsteady peace since the last Shinobi World War has each and every member on edge, with everyone anticipating some sort of attack, the members of the Guardian Corps are on high alert.

ORGANIZATION SPECIALS

Defense, defense, defense. It is in the name of the Corps and it is their duty above all. The Defense Corps are the utmost asters in their fields, from creating structures that could last a thousand years of war, to outfitting the village in case of a major siege, to even policing the populace, They are Iwagakure’s legion of living shields. Each member of the Corps has dedicated something to the village’s overall defense, often they churn out and experiment with hundreds of Jutsu a day. After all, their pride and joy are the defensive Jutsu that each member creates, it is a requirement that every new inductee gives over at least one technique to be passed down amongst the other members, often they commit more. Along with this, the Defense Corps make the best of the best when it comes to bodyguards, with their members often being chosen to protect high value targets, and even the Tsuchikage if they’re lucky. Along with this the Grand Marshal reports directly to the Tsuchikage and advises them in times of war.
