In the end he manages to get away with only a few more cuts and scrapes... but his timing in anticipating oncoming attacks improves a bit.

The two of them converse for a while and then, to help keep his mind off of darker matters, the instructor offers to help the younger Uchiha practice with his chakra flow. After demonstrating an advanced jutsu and giving some pointers on the process of molding chakra, Kai is able to channel it into his glaive. The two say then say their goodbyes as Izusa leaves to prepare for the next day's lesson plans.

What begins as a standard patrol quickly devolves into a scuffle with a few local muggers who ultimately prove to be little challenge for two Konoha shinobi. After the duo subdue the assailants the remaining conscious one gives them an ominous warning about some apparent new crime boss. Before they can question him further however, a mysterious marksman shoots both brigands dead. Rather than pursue with Ataru in tow, Izusa decides to hold position and the two notify the local shinobi contingent to allow them to investigate further.
