He had heard the rumors and conversations as it wasn't hard to do in the village hidden in the leaves. People talked and with how Michi would sit and listen to those around him he picked up on their words and conversations easily. He didn't mean to do this all the time sometimes it just happened especially if he was completely focused on his novels like normally, but this one rumor caught his attention from his books. A man who had a good grasp of taijutsu and seemed to garner a reputation for it after training a few shinobi before. Certainly wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up some abilities or techniques from a taijutsu user so he didn't fully rely on his chains and seals. [break][break]

So that's what he was doing today looking for the man who was this so-called Taijutsu specialist he heard about. There wasn't much to go on from that conversation alone, but he heard about rumors of a ghost of Konoha too so maybe they could be related? This honestly didn't make much sense to Michi since why would a taijutsu specialist and a ghost be similar? It seemed rather preposterous to him and after searching for a while and not finding anyone who fit this description he practically gave up. So instead he decided to go back to reading his novels. Walking around the village with a book in hand somehow avoided most people, or to be precise people avoiding him, while he didn't pay attention to where he was going. Only to run into someone around his height and smack himself in the face with his book. "Ahhh sorry," he would say in annoyance though more to himself since he was the one who ran into this stranger he ended up losing his place in the book so he would have to reread the page.

Oops… someone ran into his back. Strange, but the buzz in the street was getting tight, so it was somewhat understandable.

Hon had gone out to buy coffee powder, coffee jelly, coffee beans and licorice. He was making himself some breakfast for tomorrow, and also snacks for his next duties in the future. Perhaps he should’ve invited Hitomi with him… but no. As the current head of the clan, she had her hands filled with other duties to go on a jolly shopping spree with him. Sad, but understandable. People had many distractions in their lives.

But who on earth bumped into him? He hadn’t activated his Byakugan, so he didn’t see it coming from afar – yet in the midst of so many people, Hon didn’t think at all that it was some sort of failed attempt at attacking him. That would have been reckless, immature and stupefying.

Turning around, Hon glared at the redhead lad around his own height, but with a slightly sharper face and brighter tones – probably still under the age of 20 – while Hon’s face was… blurring out. His chakra booming out as a menacing aura, putting a slur over his form, his eyes, his skin… bleaching the colors around, dampening the sounds around them – except for a sharp, high-pitched hiss that came from somewhere…

But Hon didn’t mean to. He was just glaring at the redhead, curious as to why he looked a lot like Ataru. "No worries… watch your steps, young man. You can’t risk tripping in front of your foes. Work on your balance – it’ll help you tremendously in the long run.”

The person would turn around and they were about the same height but a bit smaller than Michi probably by an inch or something. Yet this intensity about them kind of intrigued Michi. Without even thinking he would give off his intense stare one that depending on the angle of shadows could make him look quite menacing to certain people, but at this moment looked more blank in expression. His expression didn't have the same literal aura that the black-haired male had though so there was no hiss sound coming from Michi.[break][break]

Yet when the man spoke his voice didn't sound intimidating at least not to Michi. It sounded rather lax and this kind of intrigued Michi even further. How could someone with such a lax demeanor also give off such intense vibes to them? Was it a technique or something they learned to do naturally? Either way, Michi wanted to learn more about this fellow if not for personal use but for his use in writing more engaging characters. Without so much thought about it, Michi would speak, "How are you doing that?" A question rather than addressing the statement of watching where he was going the man posed him earlier as the interest in the aura the man was giving off was more important in Michi's mind.

Empty… that gaze he had felt so empty. Chilling, but void of substance – sharp, but void of impact. And just like Hon’s voice intrigued the younger male, the same thing occurred vice versa – the redhead took interest in Hon from the jump, asking how he did… well… that.

That… ah, must be my Tōki. He’s got sharp eyes.

"My apologies… it’s a very sensitive thing,” Hon immediately explained, "When you’re accustomed to battle… you tend to carry a sort of aura around you. Maybe that’s what you spotted, I wonder.” Spotted wasn’t exactly the best word to describe it… more like ‘felt’, ‘sensed’, ‘realized’ or other past tense verbs could describe the experience better.

"What’s your name, Genin? Do you practice Taijutsu often?”

Hon went immediately to the case – battle often required expertise in hand-to-hand skills from Taijutsu, and only from Taijutsu could you manifest this aura. And he would never allow any generation of Konohagakure’s Genin to falter in that school… he’d grown dedicated to his work as a Genin Squad Leader since his own, older sensei suggested the profession to him long ago.

"Simply practice any Taijutsu – any Taijutsu – and dedicate yourself to it. You don’t have to abandon other training, but take it seriously… then, in time, you too will grow an aura that others will notice.”

"Interesting," Michi would respond when told about the aura by the other male and it was indeed interesting to him. To emit a sort of aggression or power to dominate people and subjugate their will just by a look was a fairly common writing trope so to think there was a technique that did that in the real world was quite fascinating to him. Might be something to study later down the line if he could especially if it meant he wouldn't have to do much actual work in combat if people just feared him from his domineering spirit.[break][break]

"Uzumaki Michi," he would say plainly when asked for his name before continuing with the rest of the question asked of him, "Not really." This was true as Michi practiced more with ninjutsu and seals because of his family heritage though he did take a personal interest in bukijutsu himself. So maybe taking up taijutsu along the way could be a fun side hobby he could do also to fill out his skill set. Michi remained quiet as the other shinobi would talk about dedicating his journey to taijutsu and whatnot and honestly, it made Michi cross his arms. Not because he was angry or anything simply because this was all words and though he dabbled in wordsmithing with his writing when it came to combat or anything like that wouldn't it be better to learn in a practical sense? So he had to ask, "Care to demonstrate?"

Hon had issues reading other people, even as he was now a Jōnin. What exactly benefited the individual in their quest for prowess in shinobi arts was a myriad of nets, lines, dots and connections that not even his Byakugan could fully scope. It took time to address the specific needs of each Genin out there, but he was expected to do so. That was what it meant to train the next generation.

When Michi requested a demonstration, Hon figured that he wanted to spar. Test out his current skills, find his weaknesses, and go from there. Typical, effective, and to the point – Hon could agree with that. At the same time, not all Genin appreciated being overwhelmed by their superiors, so maybe Michi meant an actual ‘demonstration’, as in here and now – show the lad a technique to captivate him. That, too, Hon could go with.

The latter was chosen.

Hon walked towards a nearby café and bought 5 cups of coffee. All 5 were held by him, carried towards a nearby table where he gestured Michi to approach. After the redhead had arrived, Hon would place each cup in a straight line, then rest his palm on the first cup pointing through the others. Jūken! Chakra escaped his palm, an invisible energy that traveled through the first four cups and burst out at the fifth.

Shimiru Resshō!

The fifth cup, and only the fifth cup, broke into pieces and spilled coffee over the table. Not a single handseal was shown, so this was definitely Taijutsu. "It might… uh… it might be a bit beyond your current caliber, b-but I thought you’d like to see it…”
