Kazuda has been instrumental in the discovery and destruction of multiple planned ambushes against Kirigakure shinobi in the decade following the end of the Civil War. Due to his uncanny ability to identify and exterminate such plans, as well as set up on-the-field counter offensives and counter-ambushes, Kazuda has earned the moniker of "Stalker in the Mist"; a name given to him during his clashes against Shinobi from Kumogakure and Konohagakure.
Thanks to his Hydrification ability, this became especially terrifying for enemies of Kirigakure, as they would become paranoid of any body of water - from puddles to lakes, streams to rivers, one never knew if Hōzuki Kazuda was laying in wait for his opportunity to strike... Kazuda is a fair-skinned man with long white hair that reaches down to his waist, and sports a well maintained beard that he doesn't allow to grow longer and an inch in length from the chin, and the length of his beard is cut closer to the skin the farther up his face it goes, disappearing just before making contact with his forelocks.
His eyes are a piercing, icy blue - the kind of eyes one can feel on them even if they aren't looking at him. Typically, Kazuda keep his long hair tied five inches above the very bottom end. He wears the usual garb of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist - a black sleeveless shirt, black pants and shoes, and light blue fabric that hides the forearm guards beneath it. Though, when possible he tends to wear a flowing overcoat that shimmers silver like the mist of the land he loves.
Not often seen, however, are his teeth - which he has had sharpened to resemble a shark's teeth! He wears his Kirigakure headband around his neck.
PERSONALITY NINDO: At All Costs
Kazuda is a man of very strict codes of honor; but his home, his land, his village, shall always take precedence over all other things. If he must sacrifice himself, or the lives of others to ensure the continued prosperity of Kirigakure, so it shall be done.
Generally soft spoken, Kazuda rather enjoys idle discussion - as boring discussions can serve as proof that his efforts allow for such peaceful talk. He prefers to observe before acting, and will take as much into consideration as possible when forming a plan, or participating in planning stages. This calm demeanor allows him to think more clearly.
Due to his Clan's Hydrification ability, Kazuda is almost always seen with a flask or two on his belt - which can sometimes give the unfortunate impression of being a drinker. But the flasks contain only mineral water, to ensure his body remains strong and fit for his ability.
Aside from his combat focuses, Kazuda has a particular fondness for playing and watching others play Shogi. It is a calm, thoughtful game - though, he isn't exactly good at the game. His father introduced him to the game, and playing it enabled them to form a relationship that was more than just training to becoming a Shinobi.
Kazuda has little patience for loud and obnoxious folk, tending to ignore them if possible. HISTORY Years 995 - 1009
Kazuda was born in the year 995, before the Civil War that embroiled the Land of Water. When the war broke out, the Hōzuki Clan remained loyal to Kirigakure, and Kazuda was imprinted from that young age to be loyal to one's home above all else.
Kazuda was blissfully unaware of the tensions that were beginning to build in the political background, having entered into Kirigakure's Shinobi Academy, much to the pride of his parents, in the year 1003. While certainly not an exceptional student, Kazuda conducted himself well in the Academy - studying hard, particularly in learning to use his surroundings to his advantage.
It was during his latter year in the Academy that he would finally begin to hear inklings of the tensions between Kirigakure's Mizukage, and the Daimyo. At first, he dismissed them out of hand - there were more important things to worry about than the arguments of old leaders - like impressing a girl he liked, or returning home to play Shogi or Go with his father, and learn the finer lessons in cooking from his mother.
In his world, things were going well.
Barring the occasional issues with being bullied by punks when Kazuda's Hydrification started failing, and he'd seem to be melting on occasion, his Academy years were good years. And when the year 1008 came, Kazuda passed his final exams, and at long last became a Genin of Kirigakure.
Years 1010 - 1013 The Civil War
Family. Heritage. Home. These were the things that superseded even the demanded subservience that the Daimyo wished. When the Civil War broke out, Kazuda was 15 years old. The murder of the Mizukage at the command of the Daimyo rocked the village, and the Hōzuki Clan.
So it was that in the year 1010, Kazuda was introduced to the horrors of war. It was only because of his Clan's unique abilities that Kazuda was able to survive in multiple small scale skirmishes between the Hōzuki, whom sided with Kirigakure, and Daimyo loyalists. Over the course of the next two years, it felt as though he had entered Hell itself - and Kazuda took no relish in killing those he saw to be his own countrymen. And then... the Civil War began.

But, thankfully, peace came - and Kazuda could begin to take stock of why the war happened, and what he may do to prevent another Civil War from ever happening again.
When Kazuda reached the age of twenty, he began to admire the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. Their elite status notwithstanding, but what they symbolized - the adamant destruction of those who would seek to harm Kirigakure.
In particular, his admiration was in part due to another member of his Clan, Kiseragi, who wielded the Kabutowari. While Kazuda and Kiseragi seldomly ever encountered one another, usually in passing, he still held great respect for his familial peer.
Vowing to one day join their ranks, Kazuda poured his heart and soul into his life as a Shinobi, taking any and all opportunities to prove his undying loyalty to his Clan, and to Kirigakure, knowing that one day - one day - he could be recognized by the Shinobi of which he idolized.
That day would eventually be made reality - Kazuda was conducting a search and destroy mission when he realized something was... off. He came to realize that they were being led farther and farther from the initial mission location. And indeed, they very nearly were led into an ambush!
They discovered that a large group of Kaguya were waiting for them - but knowing this, Kazuda was able to turn the ambush back on the ambushers. Planting disguised paper bombs in the forest, Kazuda's team was able to draw the Kaguya into their own ambush - though it would not be an easy battle, nor would it go without heavy casualties.
Of the six members of his team, only Kazuda and one other survived the battle, and only three of the fourteen Kaguya managed to survive and escape. From the dead, Kazuda found a scroll detailing more ambush locations set by the enemy faction. Kazuda brought this information back to Kirigakure, and participated in the destruction of five planned enemy ambushes.
On the final mission, Kazuda was joined by one of the members of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. At last, he had drawn the attention of the Mist's most elite shinobi, and he planned to make use of that opportunity. Kazuda soon would witness the great gap between his skill, and the skill of a Mist Swordsman. But rather than harm his pride, it only doubled his resolve to become one of the best - to stand one day shoulder to shoulder with the Seven.
Now, these years later, Kazuda has finally had his chance. The Ax and Hammer was currently unclaimed - left to sit in disuse. But no longer. Kazuda would take up the Seventh Sword, and use all his being as a Hozuki, as a member of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, to protect Kirigakure.
Kazuda has only recently joined the Seven Swordsman, and has yet to prove himself fully to the rest of the Seven, and still needs to grow accustomed to wielding the Kabutowari. FIGHTING STYLE Kazuda is patient, and will fight reservedly so to observe his enemy/enemies. Once he is able to formulate an approach, his combat style suddenly shifts from evasive and opportunistic, to explosive and oppressive!
He relies heavily on his ability to Hydrificate when shifting to his offensive combat style to help him overwhelm his foes. Before taking up the Ax and Hammer, Kazuda wielded the extremely long "Washing Pole", a seven foot long type of Katana to serve him. As such, Kazuda is particularly fond of long, sweeping strikes to cleave his enemies.
In particular, Kazuda utilizes a combination of the Silent Killing technique in tandem with his Hydrification, making him extremely dangerous in situations where he can get the better of an opponent.
Strengths:
Due to his Hydrification ability, Kazuda is extremely difficult to damage with physical attacks - rendering many hand to hand combat tactics against him generally useless. With his specialization in Suiton jutsu, he is especially effective when facing enemies that specialize in Katon style jutsu.
Weaknesses:
First and foremost, his Hydrification is not perfect. It can be overcome with more powerful attacks - and he is ESPECIALLY vulnerable to Raiton Jutsu. If he is ever rendered unconscious, he becomes essentially a jelly-like puddle, making retrieving him from the battlefield a bit difficult. COMBAT INFORMATION NATURAL CHAKRA: Suiton

Special Ability #1
Suika no Jutsu Kazuda, having been born to the Hōzuki Clan, has inherited their Secret Technique - Hydrification. After over a decade of practice, Kazuda is able to liquefy his body entirely, able to quite literally melt into and blend in to bodies of water, slip through cracks and crevasses in walls and under doorframes, and even alter parts of his body to enable heavier blows.
In time, the Jutsu became a part of Kazuda, enabling him to take physical damage without being harmed - losing an arm, or even being cleaved in half, while unpleasant, is not a fatal blow, as he can pull the separated pieces back together.
This does come with a caveat, however; Kazuda must keep himself hydrated, and often. If he is not well hydrated, his Jutsu begins to break down, leaving him vulnerable to his enemies.
This Jutsu's second great weakness - Raiton. Kazuda's body conducts electricity to a much higher degree than normal, making such Jutsu against him far more dangerous.

Silent Killing Kazuda has mastered the art of Silent Killing, often using his Hydrification ability to lay in wait to ambush his foes, or take advantage of when an ally may use the Hidden Mist Jutsu, allowing him to hydrificate and move towards the enemy unseen, where he can then suddenly appear to slash them down!
Special Ability #3
Photographic Memory Kazuda has the uncanny and somewhat terrifying photographic memory ability. This has been extremely useful when looking for any subtle changes in his environment - and thanks to the Civil War, Kazuda has seen and explored much of the Land. This in particular has benefitted Kazuda when recognizing ambushes.

Enhanced Chakra Reserves Kazuda's careful nature has enabled him to better tap into and utilize his Chakra is ways not common to the typical shinobi.
