While the Kazekage was in the works of strengthening the village's alliances, it was left to the Jounin Hanchou to ensure the security and daily functions of the village in their absence. It wasn't the first time she had been left to her devices, but it was probably the longest period of time that it was done. In the end, she managed to be doing quite well for the last few weeks. It was just a shame that Asahi was gone with him.
Releasing a slow breath, the young shinobi would eye the papers on the desk, looking out the window of the top floor office space as she examined the people below. It was more than a bit strange sitting here. In this room, in his chair, everything about it was bringing back memories of when she took her mother's old office, now calling it her own.
Sadly, functions like security and ensuring certain matters remained behind closed doors were best done from the office of the Kage, so she would be here for a while.
As Nai lay out before the desk, sleeping soundly as the woman worked, Arashi would then scan the people below once more before closing her eyes.
"Sure..he can go on a trip no problem, I can rarely leave..."
That wasn't true, but it felt good to vent and maybe be petty for just a moment. Her father hardly ever got out, and to see him take on such a feat was more than a bit surprising when it was discussed. Still, he was safe with his escort, and also...Asahi was there too. So both of them were well protected and there was nothing to worry about.
Did that stop her though?....Not in the least...
It would at least explain why she felt so fidgety...
Rising up from her seat, she'd set her pen down, stretching her arms as she began to move around the room with a calm expression.
She'd been in this room before, but it was a bit surreal to be in it from such a position. Even a bit daunting.
For years now, she had feared the idea of this possibly being hers one day. A year later, that reality became much closer with her becoming Jounin Hanchou. Now she looking at such a future with true clarity. It wasn't so much of a nightmarish dream anymore, nor was it the spoken word of the Kazekage.
As she examined the shelves of scrolls, the many tomes and records, her eyes came upon a case that held the personal attire or at least one set, of the Kage's robes. Her expression in seeing it hadn't changed much, but it did feel a bit more like an omen.
Or perhaps it was no more than just a set of clothes...and a hat...
Hmph....imagine....one bad day and it is all yours...
Not funny...Moment MusicAs she pressed down the One Tail's thoughts, she'd hear him laughing slightly before his voice reached her again. The sad thing was, they now had become more than just two separate individuals at this point. It was true, that she was just the vessel and him the demon living in her, but years and experiences had created a far more impressive union than many would imagine when it came to Jinchuuriki. especially her.
I never quite understand your fear of such a thing...even the old man seems to believe it to be your birthright...
Because it changes everything....Once dad became the Kazekage...our lives... were never really the same after...but the village was safer...and everything got better than what it was...but we...What kind of leader would she be? What kind of a life would she lead if she became the Kazekage?
Thinking back on her own family, she imagined something similar, but it hadn't always been great. There were times in which she worried about whether either of her parents would come home? But that was when they were at war. Similarly, they were there then, but the distance between home and the Kage Manor grew over time and later nights for both of them.
It wasn't like that at first...but over time...it became so common for us to try and wait up for him and mom that we began to see them less and less...but when we did...A smirk crossed her lips as she began to remove the glass case from over the Kage hat.
"Those were the good days..."
When did they stop?
A blank expression crossed her face as she remembered, but stopped short of the memory becoming real as she narrowed her eyes.
Round the time we became a thing...So...in the end...your reasoning behind your fear is that...there is a chance...small that it may be...you'll have to make a choice that was like what was made before...
Silly as it was, it wasn't out of the question that there may come a day when she'd have to choose the betterment of the village over her own personal desires. To keep the many safe over the individual.
Her parents had faith in her to be able to handle it. They were right....but how often did such things just work out?
Gently taking the hat into her hands, she held its brim, feeling the texture of the fabric. She'd note the cloth that hung from its side, stitched into its interior. Lowering her head, she'd placed the object upon it, looking at her reflection in the glass for a moment and for a moment, it felt like it didn't fit. In tipping it upward, Arashi looked again and it seemed to feel a bit more natural up there, leading to her allowing a small smile to rest over her lips as she released a soft breath of relief.
If it gives you some comfort...I think it's a good fit...

Ultimate Defense
A Skill granted by her continued use and developed relationship with Shukaku over the continued use of his control over sand, Arashi has a stronger connection to the element, allowing her to use it at a much more intensive rate than before. As such, her defenses are much more adapt and capable of taking on stronger attacks and reinforcing itself at faster speed. This adaptation to the sand shield allows for it's reaction time to have increased and make it more challenging for attacks to connect and break through the first layer, while acting still on the natural inclinations of auto-repairing itself for the next strike.
