[Shitai Maimomu]

Doing all her work for the SOKA Ops lately, it had been some time since she was delegated a mission by the Shitai head instead. But they had asked for her personally, and so she stood before them and listened to a short tale. Man who has betrayed the clan, has secrets, something about the Lost Childen - it's all mumbo jumbo to Ume at this point. When she first started assassination missions, she felt like there was some higher purpose and she craved the understanding behind her missions.

Now, it was just another head on her list. Another name to cross off. She couldn't care less. Just give her the job, let her do her thing, and give her the reward.

Except in this case, the reward is a pat on the back. Whatever. It was still her job.

This job was a little harder, because instead of leaving the country, she wasn't even leaving the village. Her target isn't a shinobi, at the very least, but it's a little harder for her to dictate the outcome of these kinds of scenarios on her home terf. You'd think it'd make things easier, but no, it makes things messier. There's a chance of being recognized, of having her place on the secret service unmasked and exposed. What happens to SOKA units who are exposed? Elimination, or simply termination?

Ume didn't know which was worse, honestly.

[Shitai Maimomu]

To begin, she takes to some research first. Not a lot, just the basics - the what she needs to know, what she needs. She starts with a name - Kenuichi Rutanoki of a prestigious medical supplies company in direct business with the Kumogakure hospitals. She can detail his work with her family back a ways, recorded as far back as to his grandfather before him conducting first with the head of the Shitai. Their personal relationship bled into business practice.

Apparently, from what she could gather from the scrolls and documents laid out before her, strewn across her spotless, white apartment bamboo flooring - business turned muddy sometime through the second generation of practices.

Now, Mr. Kenuichi Rutanoki peddled the same shady practices as his father, carrying on some level of fraud by backlogging medical supplies already distributed through the system. This made their sales inflate, while keeping their supply in full demand.

A harmless thing, Ume thought. Surely nothing to be killed over.

She wondered if there was more to this than what she was lead to believe. Was their a personal tinge tainting this target? Or was the medical and resource industry really this cut throat?

Ah well. Her job was to kill, not ask questions. She moves on to studying his schedule.
