♔ When the orders had been passed down to him for what it was, exactly, that he would be assisting his newest assigned squadmate in training, Shiu had not been thrilled. His recent experience with that stalker of a swordsman in fostering his ability to break out of a genjutsu was not one he would have described as pleasant. It involved far too much time spent in immobility, in spite of all of his body’s protests, made all the more frustrating by the conscious knowledge that all of this had been wrought upon him by nothing more than his untrained mind. He had learned to temper his complaints long ago, though, and he knew this was essential training that could only be done with a specialized training partner.
He arrived at the team’s designated training spot at near the designated time, just before noon. Shiu knew nothing about this new person on their squad, other than from the name he had been given, he must have been some clanless sort. Shiu wrinkled his nose, wondering at how he and Enyo kept being forced into company with these peasants, as though some upper hand within the village was determined to make the two of them waste time on people unable to train them properly. He hoped whoever this was would be an exception, but it was the sort of hope he never actually believed.
To pass the time, and in a vain effort to take his mind off his own pessimism, Shiu crouched down by the pond set center amid the field of trees. Assuming this new teammate—he already forgot the name—came to their meeting spot as he was supposed to do, Shiu would be easy to find.
Idly, he stared into the undisturbed surface of the pond. It may have been due to the thin mist obscuring some of his view, but he couldn’t tell if there were any fish or amphibians that made a home of this pond. With delicacy, he reached a hand down and tapped the water’s surface. He watched the rings spread out across the water from where his index finger touches, rippling across all the way to the edges of the pond. coded by pinn @ thq
