Beyond the doorstep, he felt a noticeable chill in the air, with leaves transitioning to vivid shades of orange and gently falling as autumn swiftly approached. The lingering warmth in his stomach from the delicious ramen he had just savoured offered little solace against the biting cold wind outside.

With a resolute click, he shut the door behind him, briefly running his fingers over the weathered nameplate that bore his mother's name, Suri. The half-decayed wooden sign stood in stark contrast to the more pristine ones adorning neighbouring apartments. A thought crossed his mind, it might be time to replace it. Adjacent to her mother's name, the smaller font displayed the lot number, "14-4" marking their residence as No. 14 on Level 4.

Gravity might have pulled an ordinary person straight down to the floor, but Akirei’s lineage allowed him to turn his body into paper. With a swift transformation, he morphed into a paper form, sporting a pair of ethereal white paper wings on his back. Effortlessly, he soared through the air, navigating the urban landscape below.

To be frank, flying through an empty airspace was not that difficult, especially after he had undergone years of training using the very same hijutsu. The challenging part, however, was navigating through the lower airspace where tall buildings dominated the skyline. The heart of Amegakure was the home of wide array of skyscrapers, making it the village with the most towering structures in the entire world.

Seeking to further improve his technique, Akirei flew lower to meet the high structures. Through advanced chakra control he honed over the years, he skillfully manoeuvred between the buildings. With precise adjustments, he weaved through the concrete giants, showcasing a seamless use of his paper manipulation ability. His whole body was responding to the subtle shifts in chakra, allowing him to freely dance through the heavily packed village with ease.

Unfortunately, he couldn't spend too much time on that, as he had to focus on the path ahead, anticipating each twist and turn in the labyrinth of building, or else he would most likely crash.

He could have chosen the safer route, soaring higher above the city where the air was clear and unobstructed. However, Akirei sought challenge and mastery over his abilities. He willingly embraced the danger, viewing it as a calculated risk that could propel him further in his journey as a shinobi.

Skillfully slipping through narrow spaces and weaving through small openings, the exhilarating thrill of the risky descent surged through his veins. The intense training wasn’t going to stop anytime soon… until he approached the village gate that he encountered an unexpected interruption. A nearby guard, utterly taken aback by the unconventional sight, urgently called out for him to halt. "STOP!"

Responding with grace, Akirei descended smoothly, coming to a halt just before the gate. It dawned on him that he had reached the checkpoint requiring registration before departing the village. In order to proceed toward the village to the east, he had to comply with the necessary registration process. After a brief reprimand from the guard, he was eventually given the green light to continue his journey.

Naturally, being just a genin, there was no way he could travel all the way to the village in one go, even though it wasn’t that far from Amegakure. When fatigue set in, he sought a safe spot on a tree to rest. After consuming an energy drink and some food, he allowed himself a brief respite, not forgetting to create a few paper minions to guard his surroundings.

"Better safe than sorry." he thought. With a flick of his wrist, several paper soldiers were flung onto nearby branches, strategically surrounding Akirei from all directions, with a few exceptions positioned to guard from above and below.

The woods were unusually quiet that day, he heard no voices except for the occasional chirping of birds and the sounds of insects. Once he had enough rest, he then prepared to leave. As he was about to take flight, a sudden loud noise interrupted his movement. Though it was distant, Akirei could identify it was some wooden structures breaking – a cart, perhaps, or a carriage. Regardless, the presence of other people was evident, as the sound was not something a wild animal could mimic.

"What could it be…" he pondered, gently flying toward the direction of the sound. To ensure his safety, he retracted his paper wings and made sure to travel hidden behind the foliage. Without the wings, his speed was significantly reduced, but that was a small cost in return for safety.

Slowly and cautiously, he approached the source of the noise. As he drew closer, the cacophony of gibberish noises became more distinct. It wasn't what he expected – a medley of different animal sounds and accompanying human voices. Peering through the leaves, he caught sight of a clearing where the origin of the commotion unfolded.

It was pure chaos. A damaged wooden cart lay overturned, its structure splintered apart, and blood was scattered everywhere. "What on earth is going on?" Akirei struggled to comprehend the scene before him. Figures moved hastily, attempting to salvage what remained of their "cargo" or so it seemed.

"There's no helping it. Just leave it be." the bald hunter said to the rest. From Akirei's vantage point, there appeared to be at least six people, with the bald individual seemingly the leader. Upon closer observation, it became apparent that the blood was emanating from the captive animals. As he took a better look around, a variety of animals were chained to large carts and cages.

"Scout ahead for any potholes. We can't afford to lose any more of our precious cargo." the bald leader commanded his team. After tidying up some items, they resumed their journey with the captive beasts, bound together with metal rings or confined in spiky cages.

Akirei's stomach churned at the sight. The captive beasts were clearly suffering greatly under their captors. Although there were no apparent injuries, Akirei was sure that the creatures had been drugged in some way. It seemed implausible that none of the beasts were retaliating, especially those prideful lions and tigers.

Despite the overwhelming desire to intervene and rescue the suffering animals, Akirei knew he couldn't directly confront the entire group alone. The hunters appeared formidable, judging by their physique. Charging in without a strategic plan and backup would be reckless.

"Guess I will observe them first…" Lacking any viable strategy, Akirei decided to tail them from above in the meantime. Moving silently from tree to tree, he ensured to maintain a safe distance to avoid being detected. The high vantage point allowed him to observe all the hunters' movements with ease, and perhaps it would help him to formulate a plan to free the captive animals without putting himself in immediate danger.

After observing the hunters for some time, Akirei made a decisive choice. He conjured a paper clone, a decoy to divert their attention and create an opportunity to strike. The clone, without speaking a word, soared quickly towards the head of the enemy group, purposefully making itself known.

The plan worked like a charm. The hunters, taken by surprise, fell into the trap. Reacting to the sudden intrusion, they were forced to regroup at the front, concentrating their efforts on the perceived threat. The real Akirei, hidden among the trees, watched as the enemy backlines gathered to the front as their focus now shifted to the decoy.

The distraction created by the paper clone gave Akirei the chance to approach the captives without raising immediate suspicion. Seizing the moment, he manoeuvred silently from above, carefully descending closer to the captured animals. As he reached the spiky cage containing the most distressed animals, he focused his chakra on his right hand, allowing the palm to turn into a sharp katana.

With one powerful swing, the chains fell away. Despite their initial timid nature, the animals seemed to understand that they were no longer under the hunters' control. The once-captive animals began to stir and rapidly leave the confinement.

Akirei on the other hand adeptly weaving through the trees while flying, maintained a calculated distance to evade detection and at the same time keep a good watch on the animals who were escaping.

As the pursuit intensified, the forest transformed into a battleground not only between the hunters and the flying genin, but the animals as well. After realising the animals had escaped, the hunters started to spread around to catch them back.

"Hmm… not happening under my watch." Leveraging his aerial advantage, Akirei quickly formed few paper shuriken on his hand and then threw them all in one shot, aiming to distract the hunters and impede their pursuit. He executed the attacks from a further distance, learning from the mistake his now-demised clone had made. The knowledge and experience gained from his shadow clone was now his crucial asset.

Also, unlike the last time, Akirei unleashed everything in his arsenal. The flying shuriken hurtled toward one of the hunter were secretly infused with an explosive tag. The hunter, unaware of it, casually brushed it aside. "This stupid shuriken again?" he sneered.

Ignoring the laughter, with a smirk, Akirei triggered the explosive tag, causing a rapid explosion that sent the hunter flying. The blast created a window of opportunity, allowing the animals to escape the clutches of imprisonment once again. However, the explosion wasn't fatal, and the injured hunter's screams for help echoed through the forest, intensifying the already precarious situation for Akirei.

In no time the enemies gathered, forming a united front against Akirei. His previous strategy was no longer working as the victim of his jutsu, now alive, spilled the secret to the others. Despite his desire to ensure the survival of the remaining animals, the overwhelming odds forced him to abandon the fight. Escaping became the only viable option against such a multitude of enemies.

Before he could take flight, however, the bald leader reappeared, defying the considerable distance between them. "What?" Akirei exclaimed, taken aback by the man's ability to effortlessly ambush him. A quick kunai slash aimed at his neck seemed inevitable, but a sudden intervention altered the course. A shadow swiftly kicked the bald leader away, saving Akirei from the lethal strike.

Recovering from the shock, he surveyed his surroundings. Turned out the Susano Police Force had arrived. Few of them escorted Akirei to safety on the ground while the rest engaged the poachers in a fierce battle. After an hour of intense fighting, victory tilted in favour of the police.

However, in Akirei's eyes, there was no true winner. Most enemies managed to escape, and lots of the animals perished in the conflict. Those fortunate enough to survive faced an uncertain fate in an unfamiliar habitat.

And when he was about to leave, a distant cry captured his attention. Upon closer inspection, he discovered a white foal from a dead horse. Despite the police's objection, Akirei decided to adopt the orphaned foal. "Don't worry, I will take care of you." he reassured the fragile creature as they made their way back to the village under the watchful care of the police.
