Night had set the scene when Warai Ameko had first been introduced to the Mark of Dog, and the peculiar kunoichi who had developed it. Since that chance meeting, where the jounin hancho and her pack had met the newly-minted genin and her companions, Ameko had thrown as many moments as she could spare into getting a proper grip on the technique. A somewhat ironic turn of phrase considering that adequately mimicking claws through the use of the jutsu required one to keep lose fingers. But the results had come, and in time she found that that removing flesh (or rather, the parts of dummies that served to imitate flesh), came almost as naturally as any other blow. But whereas night had taught her the first of the moves, day would be the witness to the remainder. Arashi had promised to teach her. She had also promised that doing so would not be easy. So, somewhat uncharacteristically for the hotheaded young woman, she found herself waiting in a rather empty clearing in a less inhabited section of Sunagakure's outskirts, rather stilly. She sat upon the sand, her back resting against the form of the larger of her two companions, as both hyenas happily consumed off-cuts of gazelle, hoof and all. Ameko had brought the meat with her, in part to spoil her companions, and in part to apologise for dragging them out into the sun. By all that was blessed, the day was hot, and even stationary, sweat threatened to sting at the genin's blue eyes, only consistent wiping with the back of her hand keeping it at bay.

"Good...Ya here..." As Arashi phrased into a more physical form, the sand seeming to construct her presence in a mere instant, the more formally dressed shinobi would then rest her hand upon her hip, looking toward the trio with a toothy grin. While she certainly hadn't intended on making them wait, the Jounin did have responsibilities to attend to within the village. Much of which, often took her either to one part of it or another. In the end, time was often used in between to barely have any of it free. But, she did make sure to always try and keep her word. While the rays of the sun were easily hindering to most within the village, despite their regular inhabitance of it, Arashi didn't feel it. Much due to her Sand-like flesh and also her adaptive nature. But, she imagined that the hyenas were getting the blunt of it. "Sorry for the wait...Sand Worms are becoming a bit more of a problem these days..." Narrowing her eyes, she'd recall their actions of late being more of a hinderance, but that was a tale for another day. Right now, she wanted to focus on what they were here for. Perhaps she should have foreseen her tutor coalescing from sand, after all, her abilities gave her the power to do such things. Alas, Ameko did not, and the sudden words and appearance of Arashi saw her taken by surprise. In seconds, she had leapt to her feet, drawing her hyenas away from their meals to join her in a hastily formed combative stance. Such a stance did not last long, for the shadow of familiarity swept over the face of the girl and subsequently the beasts. Tension evaporated from shoulders, and hackles were lowered, sheepish embarrassment taking the place of preparedness. "No need, I weren't waiting long," Ameko half-mumbled, trying to hide away the shame she felt at immediately jumping in surprise, "Sand worms will sand worm and all... yeah, I get it." She did not really get it. In any case, the formalities were sorted, and that meant that training could begin in earnest. Dropping into the fighting stance, this time without provocation, Ameko demonstrated the Mark of Dog twice in rather-quick succession. She was sure to slow her pace such that she'd not make any foolish mistakes, but her speed was far and away from the haphazard attempts she'd first made. Finishing the demonstration, Ameko wiped the sweat from her brow and shot the jounin a cocky smirk, "Feeling good, comes more naturally by the day, y'know? Keen to learn the next one. Lay it on me."

"Heh heh...Eager aren't we?" Arashi would hold a smirk on her face as she watched the girl finish her demonstration, proving that she was right to show her the move in the first place. If anything, instinct was natural when it came to using the technique, the girl just had to find the right pattern in which to implement it into her own style. Though the next one might be a bit more tricky. "Right then...next one is gonna take a bit more agility on ya part...so to get started...we'll need to get some distance...so we'll move it to the training grounds..." That said, Arashi would then begin to stretch her arms up into the air as she then looked out toward the horizon. The area was mostly isolated, so it would be easy to get to a place where they could have more space. Within the village, it was an all around trap of carts, people and animals to avoid. But, it was also a pretty good place for training if you knew how to move around the objects in the way. "Goal is to tag me before we reach the entrance of the area...and try not to run into anybody either...people work and all that so gettin in the way of their business day to day isn't ideals...simple right?" In finishing her own physical prep, Arashi would then tap the front of her foot against the ground before then nodding in her direction. Moment Music "Ready?...and... With a swift tap on the girl's shoulder's, the older female would grin before moving slowly ahead. "GO!" With that, Arashi would dart forward, making her way into the village as she darting along the streets. Bracing herself against the side of the wall, she'd then jumped to the roof before making her way back down into the street. She didn't move at an increased rate, but she wasn't going to make it easy on the girl either. After all, the next move would require her to be quick on her feet, and also be capable of timing just where the target would be. The genin was ready, the moment that she was informed that she'd need to chase after the jounin hancho, she'd allowed her muscles to relax, to settle into a ready position. Arashi may have trained with the Saeko, but Ameko had her own clan's pride to consider. They may not have been as renowned hunters as the Saeko, they may not have been as swift or as agile, but the Warai had pride all the same. Shaking herself loose, Ameko's blue eyes would harden to ice. She did not expect Arashi to touch her shoulder, but the word 'Go' and the swift departure of the older kunoichi came as expected. This was a chase, not an ambush. Yet Ameko could not contain her surprise at the speed with which the woman moved. It was to be expected, of course, but there was a very real difference between understanding the abilities of an elite ninja in a theoretical sense and seeing them move in the flesh. Arashi moved like liquid, or perhaps like sand, darting along the streets before taking to a roof. She had agility, agility that Ameko likely could not hope to match. It was only with Arashi's return to the street that Ameko felt any hope at all of succeeding in tagging the woman. But the girl had no intention of failing. Her legs sprung into motion the second she was touched, moving forward to chase after Arashi. She lacked the ability to accurately control her chakra, and she was not confident in her ability to use speed alone to scale the walls like her tutor. But she was not alone. And it was never specified with what, or who, Arashi was to be tagged. Whistle. "Hunt!" Ameko kept her eyes peeled on Arashi as she ran, taking to the streets like a woman possessed, her gait appearing almost animalistic in how far forward she leant. Yuki kept pace with his master, whilst Kōri sped forward, leaving the other two in his proverbial dust. The hyena barreled through the streets like a hellhound, almost knocking over an unfortunate pedestrian, the man only just getting out of the way. Had Arashi truly wished to lose Ameko, no doubt she'd have been able to do so. But the nature of it being a training session meant that her reduced speed made it possible for the genin to at least keep some sort of pace. Enough pace to attempt something that, whilst lacking in intelligence, at least demonstrated the blood-bond that constantly tied her to her hyenas. Kōri grew closer, chortling and chuckling, before lunging, an attempt to bite and 'tag' the tutor. Yet, it was the concurrent attack from Ameko and Yuki that would prove the second and third prongs of the amateurish trident. Ameko was strong, she knew that. Strong enough to physically throw her hyena at Arashi. It was an awkward throw, with buildings surrounding her, and more than a few on-lookers forced to step out of the way, but the beast was sent hurtling through the air with all the elegance of an ill-shaped boulder. For her part, Ameko fell forward, her stance becoming surprisingly quadrupedal as she threw the last of her movement into a desperate lunge forward. Successful or no in their haphazard attempt to tag the so-called princess of Sunagakure, the Warai scion and her hyenas would end up dusty and strewn across the street, and disapproving mutterings would serve as their applause. Maybe she had missed the spirit of Arashi's instruction in her desperate attempt to win. No matter.

With the wild chase in progress, Arashi remained as fleet footed as ever as she knew these streets like the back of her hand. Each mistep could easily lead to a tumble, so it was important to map out just how well to get around in case of pursuit. Which, there had been many. Still, what had been unexpected was the approach in which Ameko had taken in trying to reach her. In seeing her from the corner of her eye, the Jounin would watch the girl and her companions attempt to gain the advantage. As one managed to get ahead, she'd quickly bounce herself to the side, looking on as the creature bounded forward after the attempt. With this dodge successful, she'd move along the surface of the wall close to her. Though what followed after was an step that may have been a bit much. As she looked back, she'd see what looked to be a ball of fur and teeth soaring in her direction, prompting her to tilt her head to the side as she managed to dart off the wall and back onto the street. "Huh...that's an approach..." Ameko was now on all fours and clearly getting less and approving glances, yet the race was still on as Arashi would smirk before then darting off forward. "Come on! Ameko's plan had failed spectacularly, and she and her companions had been handily defeated in their haphazard attempt at launching forward. As Yuki and Kōri lay sprawling in the dust, Ameko rolled and landed on all four limbs. It wasn't a stance to which she was well accustomed, but it came to her surprisingly naturally. Carrying forward with that animalistic gait, she continued after Arashi. She'd not be defeated. Pulling her lips back into a snarl, she crouched back onto her legs, taking a position almost like a runner. Arashi was multiple steps away, too far for Ameko too adequately close the distance with a jutsu. But she could at least make up some of the difference. "Don't underestimate me!" She growled, pushing off her back legs as she unleashed her Shunpo. Three steps forward, before it was released, and the momentum carried her forward. Her balance would almost certainly have failed, if she had not relied on her arms to serve as stabilisers. For the paces that followed, she ran in a way that was positively canine, albeit deceptively so. Her legs remained the driving force, with her arms only serving to keep her from falling utterly over her face. Arashi, for her part, seemed capable of dodging out of the way of any attack. She knew the streets, she was more agile, and as such, she could utilise the walls that surrounded the streets to her advantage. Attempting to catch her was like trying to catch the wind itself. Hopefully, the final burst would prove enough to catch her off-guard, to surprise her with the sudden burst of speed. Ameko pushed forward again, aiming slightly to the right of Arashi, hoping to presume the direction to which she would dodge.

Senkou's core move thus is a technique that allows the user to propel themselves forward by allowing for a sudden push of chakra through their legs and down to eventual strike from their feet onto the ground, propelling themselves at a speed that their movements become a blur. Skilled user's may project themselves at a point where they are no longer seen, and may utilize multiple steps in their attack. Shunpo has been know to be similar to Shuushin since they both hold the same principle of increasing ones physical states to increase speed. This jutsu is only to be primaraly used for handful of steps since its primary use is for close range combat. The longer the distance the more strain on the muscles will occur. Moment music Arashi may have been pushing Ameko a bit, but in truth, it was only because she had seen what the girl could do with limited knowledge and was at this point aware of just how far she was willing to go to learn. If she made it easy, it would defeat the purpose of the lesson, and so far, the pieces were presenting themselves without her even so much as giving a single bit of instruction. Though that push to go harder propelled her forward, leading to her almost instantly vanishing from sight before reappearing slightly right of her, practically on all fours as she raced after her. With a toothy grin, Arashi would look over her shoulder to see the girl, prompting her to dart swiftly left, moving into an alleyway as to keep her on her toes and move off the beaten path. Not to mention, keep the girl from accidently knocking someone over her in rapid pursuit. Still, with only a few feet left to their destination, Arashi would call out before applying chakra to her lower limbs, gracefully jumping into the air as she moved upward and over a structure, using her sense of smell to track the girl as she floated within the air. "Effective....but ya still not using everything! And ya only got a bit further left..." In saying this, Arashi would then land back upon the ground as she could see the entrance of the grounds was close. With only a short distance left, the Jounin would propel herself forward once more, still making sure to keep herself ahead, but still capable of being caught. She just had to use everything....all her training...all her instincts...every last bit of it... She can smell out strangers, steel and various other things. Arashi may retract her chakra from her nose as well to make her sense of smell return to normal. Due in most regards to her heavily enhanced sense of smell, With her continued usage of this ability, she has now become capable of near passively monitoring the exact range of a target and their positioning within 250 meters. (Able to turn "off and on" this enhanced sense at the 'prick' of chakra to her nose) Hunter's Instinct With her training from her mother, along with the lessons she learned from her time with the Saeko's Clan, Arashi adapted her tracking ability to a level similar to that of a sensory nin. Her gamble had failed, and Ameko watched with increasing irritation as her mentor shot a toothy grin toward her, before fleeing into an alleyway. The ease with which Arashi moved, vaulting structures without effort and maintaining the ability to shoot witty retorts back. Ameko's teeth bared further, her grin turning more and more into a snarl. She lacked the grace or elegance to properly get over the structure that lay before her, and her chakra control was certainly nowhere near good enough to enable her to use that as a basis for her traversal. Even as she continued forward, she felt the hope of catching Arashi fading. Of course, then Arashi spoke. Use everything at her disposal? She could do that. Part of her knew she'd been holding back, afraid of doing something stupid and reckless. She'd no intention to harm anyone, not really. But they had moved away from civilians, and truth be told, there was no way she'd be able to harm Arashi in any event. What had Arashi been teaching her? To rely on what she'd learned from her hyenas. There was a technique, not one based around the movements of the animals, but designed to be used in conjunction with them. One that focused on slashing and damage. Accuracy was a worry, and it was almost certain that she'd be unable to hit a moving target. But it was her final option, a Warai clan technique built off of their relationship with their familiars. Could she vault the building, no? Could she climb it quickly, no? She didn't need to. Crouching back, she sprang off her legs, launching herself at the buildings in the alley-way, each one used as a springboard for her next launch. All four limbs made contact with walls, as she sprang off them and ever-upward, eventually raising above the structure where Arashi had floated. One final landing, one final spring, and Ameko shot forth. She held nothing back, her hands outstretched with every intention to grab and harm. If she missed, then she'd careen into the ground and her ego would be further bruised. Yet, if she hit, she just had to have faith that Arashi could take a blow from a genin. She was certain that she could. No holding back. No half-measures. Ameko cackled as she attacked.

Moment music It was in that moment that Arashi saw it. What it was that had allowed for her to reach out to this girl in the first place. The raw instinct that seemed to drive her, the impulse and the animal like power that fueled her. It was in combination with her training and it was being used in a way that was similar to her own style. That was what she was looking for, and that was what she saw in those few moment that she saw the girl as she launched herself at her. Had she been any less capable, the tackle would have easily overtaken her and likely knocked her over to the ground. Though years of experience and training gave more than an advantage, prompting her to move to the side as Ameko swooped passed her. Yet, the impact and the intent of the attack had proven enough to her as she could see the slightest opening in her defense. It was small, almost like a line within glass, yet in seeing it, a calm expression rested on Arashi's face as she looked toward the young female as she landed in a less than graceful fashion on the ground near the entrance to the open grounds. As she looked toward her, golden eyes remaining fixed on her position, she'd find herself allowing a smirk to cross her lips as she nodded her head. "Now thats the shit I'm talkin bout...right there..." In saying this, Arashi would let the field fade as she made her way toward Ameko. "Implementation and adaptation....ya can't just use one thing and stick with it...be versatile...ya got the tools...just gotta use em..." Glory was within reach, all she had to was reach out and claim it. Arashi was right there. Ameko's hands hardened, mimicking claws as she outstretched them, the full weight of her body, the full force of her legs, the inevitability of gravity itself, pushed her forward. It was not enough. Experience won out and the jounin hanchou dodged deftly to the side. There was no pivot from Ameko, she'd no opportunity to do so. She collided with the ground, hard. Her arms caught the bulk of it, and she felt the impact move up her limbs and jar her shoulders with a sudden jolt of pain and shock. Her movement did not halt, and she skidded forward a further few paces, her body going limp from the sudden trauma to her joints and the surprise of the impact. Ragdolling, fortunately, seemed to save her from any serious injury. Apart from grazed palms and aching arms, it was her ego that had taken the biggest blow. Bitter, angry tears stung her eyes as she lay in the dirt. She'd lost. She'd failed. Those thoughts swam in her head as Arashi approached. Despite the evident warmth behind her words, despite the clear difference and years and experience between them, Ameko could not help but feel frustrated at her failure. Logically, she knew that the task was difficult, a trial. But emotionally, those same emotions that governed much of her being, berated herself internally for failure. "I fuckin' tried," She groaned, finally finding the strength to move herself to a seated position, blue eyes meeting gold, "You mean ninjutsu and that? I'm no good at it. But I just can't match you in speed." A bitter chuckle left her lips at the second part of the advice, "Tried adaptin', yeah. Didn't think you'd see it coming." Sighing, Ameko offered a hand, "Do you mind giving me a hand up?" Of course, the sudden twinkle in her eyes, the return of the fire betrayed a final gambit. They'd not yet entered the arena. If Arashi offered help, Ameko's words would be simple, "Tag." Adapt.

"It ain't exactly somethin that comes in a day...it comes from practice...hence why we're here..." With a small smile on her face, she'd hear the bitter sweet tone from Ameko, though she imagined that if anything else, it was something that she'd grow from. After all, no one got to any level in one single day. Even Tailed Beast needed to have some regular training to get stronger. As she heard the request to give her a hand, Arashi would reach down to do so, only to hear a single word. Tag.... Holding a blank expression, Arashi would look toward the entrance of the Training grounds and then back toward Ameko as she blinked for a moment. The girl hadn't needed to really catch her at this point, only adapt to the situation and use it to her advantage. Hence the lesson. That being said, the young woman would narrow her eyes before then laughing as she shook her head. "Cheeky..." Still, she had completed the task and had managed to tag the woman. "Looks like ya got somethin outta it after all...not bad..." After getting the girl to her feet, Arashi would gesture toward the grounds as she began to move forward. "Seeing as ya managed to somewhat get a grasp of the lesson...the next technique should be pretty easy for ya to pick up..." In reality, she has simply discovered that by channeling some chakra to her nose she can enhance the cells within it and gain a super sense of smell that may act as a sensor and tracking technique. She can smell out strangers, steel and various other things. Arashi may retract her chakra from her nose as well to make her sense of smell return to normal. Due in most regards to her heavily enhanced sense of smell, With her continued usage of this ability, she has now become capable of near passively monitoring the exact range of a target and their positioning within 250 meters. (Able to turn "off and on" this enhanced sense at the 'prick' of chakra to her nose) Hunter's Instinct With her training from her mother, along with the lessons she learned from her time with the Saeko's Clan, Arashi adapted her tracking ability to a level similar to that of a sensory nin. The smile that split Ameko’s face was so wide that it was bestial, as was the cackling laughter that left her chest, joining the more restrained laughter of her mentor. Pride swelled. Sure, tagging Arashi may not have been the true purpose of the exercise, but she’d succeeded in it nonetheless. With assistance now rendered in getting her to her feet, Ameko dusted herself, grimacing somewhat at the stinging sensation on her grazed palms. It would fade within a day, she knew, but it was still a discomfort. Falling into lockstep with Arashi, Ameko would listen, before allowing herself to question, "I take it the technique has something to do with adapting… Or speed, maybe… Or using the tools at my disposal, or is that just adaptation but with more syllables?” As the two entered the training ground, the rather sulky forms of the hyenas would appear and join them. Their trot was steady, but evidently they’d not enjoyed the chase, in particular the part where one had been thrown as a projectile and the other as bait. Ameko ignored their pointed expressions. They would sulk for a time, but would quickly get over it. She was more concerned with ensuring she was ready to go, stretching out her aching shoulders, rolling her neck and brushing the last of the dust off of her. The girl would attempt to guess at just what the technique would involve in relation to what just happened, though Arashi would just raise her brow before blankly clicking her tongue. "Ya just said bout three different things and then tried to combine the first one into a response...quite the mouthful..." Looking over her shoulder at her hyena companions as they appeared behind them, Arashi would then extend one hand out as she began to cause the sand before them to rise as it shifted before them. "Still...not too far off..." After finishing what looked to be a replica of a man, she'd then continue to speak as she began to explain. "The exercise was to ensure that ya were able to adapt, but also to see how quickly ya were able to close the distance between yourself and a target. While often it can be tough to get in close, if the only tool ya got left is to throw hands than ya better be fast at closing the gap..." With the replica finished, Arashi would then look toward Ameko with a calm expression. "The technique ya used before to launch yourself...its reckless, but works on pure adrenaline from what I could tell. In combination with your flash step, you can close the gap between yourself and your target easy and caught them off guard...but I think ya do better...than just slashing ya opponent to the ground and hoping that ya hit em...I'm thinkin more along the lines of pinning them down and going at them with a bit more finesse..." While a small critique, Arashi made sure to give credit where it was due, leading to her looking at the target as she gestured toward it. "Which brings us to the next technique in Mark of Dog....Wraith of Dog...its a combination of both speed and strength, similar to your technique but ensuring that ya close the gap without having to use two techniques in conjunction..." As such, her defenses are much more adapt and capable of taking on stronger attacks and reinforcing itself at faster speed. This adaptation to the sand shield allows for it's reaction time to have increased and make it more challenging for attacks to connect and break through the first layer, while acting still on the natural inclinations of auto-repairing itself for the next strike. Ameko shrugged, her guesses had been somewhat wild, but she’d never exactly claimed to be the best at pattern recognition. Besides, even if she couldn’t guess what the training would entail, there was no doubt that Arashi would tell her in any case. The risk of a touch of disappointment was worth it if she could potentially impress the jounin. While she’d not accurately guessed at the nature of their exercise, she did watch intently as Arashi crafted a replica of a man out of sand. There was still something about the Oonakayama’s powers that filled Ameko with a sense of trepidation. But those worries were still overshadowed by the sense of awe. Ameko was good at hitting things, seeing someone wield the elements themselves, with such ease, brought emotions of admiration and jealousy in equal measure. As to the discussion of the technique itself, Ameko rubbed the back of her head, "Yeah, look, I know it’s not the best way of closing the distance but I’ve been working with what I have. I mean… I guess… It’s not like I’ve actually been tested in battle.” The last sentence was mumbled, her cheeks turning a rosy shade as she spoke. Her subsequent comments and questions were far clearer, her tone brighter and more crystalline, "So… it’s a lockdown technique? Close the gap and keep it closed?” She thought she had something of an idea, Arashi’s prior actions and subsequent words at least indicated that it was related to getting in close to the enemy, but without a demonstration, she found she was at a loss.
