In the quiet of the early morning, Amaya returned to a familiar training ground. The mist, a near constant in Kirigakure, offered comforting anonymity. It was here that Amaya had met Masshiro, one of the Seven Swordsmen, he had worked with Amaya on the intricacies of layered genjutsu—something that demanded not just skill but a profound understanding of the mind's inner workings. [break][break]

With the formation of a Shadow Clone, he began the day’s first attempts at success. The clone, emerging from a puff of smoke, stood ready to be both the subject and recipient of his illusions. The beauty of this method lay in the transference of experience upon the clone's dispersal, a direct feed of knowledge back to Amaya, enriching his understanding of each attempt. [break][break]

The familiar ritual began with a simple whistle, casting the clone into a vertigo-inducing illusion, its success marked by the clone's involuntary grimace. Holding a bell by a string, Amaya initiated the second phase. The next illusion, triggered by the bell's fall, was designed to envelop the clone in an omnipresent ringing with no discernible source. The simplicity of the initial illusions belied the complexity of their integration. [break][break]

Recalling Masshiro's teachings, Amaya would merge the illusions through a meticulous localization of chakra. The visual and auditory effects, each governed by different regions of the brain, provided the opportunity for simultaneous genjutsu. The essence of the technique lay not in the grandiosity of chakra manipulation, as he originally thought, but in its precision, targeting specific neural pathways with surgical accuracy. As Amaya attempted to blend the illusions, the task demanded an intense level of chakra control. The process, akin to threading a thousand needles simultaneously, was both delicate and daunting. Despite his careful efforts, the initial attempt to merge the illusions faltered upon their convergence. This setback, while anticipated, did not dampen Amaya.

NAME: Kage Bunshin no Jutsu [Shadow Clone Technique][break]
RANK: B[break]
CHAKRA USAGE: Medium[break]
CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu [General][break]
ELEMENT: None[break]
HANDSEALS: 1[break]
DESCRIPTION:[break]
The Kage Bunshin technique evenly distributes your chakra between one or more clones with form and substance.

The clones created by this technique are able to utilize any jutsu the original ninja knows, has all of their special abilities, as well as their kekkei genkai. Typically a clone's equipment doesn't retain any special abilities and the clone itself is dispersed when hit with a single attack or incapacitated, although the clone can also choose to disperse itself or be dispersed by the user.

When the clone finally disperses, any new knowledge it has gained along with it's remaining chakra are passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones. [break][break]

NAME: Naru Kane: Kakomareta [Ringing Bells: Surrounded][break]
RANK: D[break]
CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low[break]
CLASSIFICATION: Genjutsu[break]
ELEMENT: N/A[break]
HANDSEALS: N/A[break]
TRIGGER: The ringing of a bell[break]
DESCRIPTION:[break]
A slight advancement of the Kurikaesu technique. This technique will also repeat the ringing sound of the bell without amplifying its volume. Unlike the former technique however, the sound of the bell is not stuck to the origin of the bells location. Instead, the sound of the bell will repeat, always from a stationary position, but from a variety of sources around the opponent. Making it sound as if there are far more bells than there actually are.[break][break]

NAME: Kousou [Fighting Confused][break]
RANK: D[break]
CHAKRA USAGE: To Use: Very Low | To Maintain: Very Low[break]
CLASSIFICATION: Genjutsu[break]
ELEMENT: -[break]
HANDSEALS: 0[break]
TRIGGER: Auditory[break]
DESCRIPTION: [break]
After a shrill whistle, the user will cast a Genjutsu over their opponent. After they hear the whistle, it will seem as if the world around them begins to spin. Everything turning upside down, making them almost unable to move without falling over. Leaving the opponent extremely disorientated.

Amaya resumed his work, setting up the same illusions as he did previously. His confidence was unshaken, he was confident with the methods he was using after his session with Masshiro. His focus, now, was on refining his technique, on honing his skills to the utmost precision. The clone seemed only marginally affected by what had happened. [break][break]

"What did you feel?” Amaya’s voice was flat as he addressed his duplicate. [break][break]

"The first genjutsu was successful,” the clone began, it’s own town a reflection of Amaya’s monotone. "I sensed the onset of the second before they both vanished.” [break][break]

Amaya acknowledged this with a nod. This feedback, while anticipated, was valuable; it confirmed the partial success of the second genjutsu. Testing on his own clones provided him with direct, reliable feedback–a method far superior to the unpredictability of using animals or others’ duplicates As far as he was concerned, the second illusion never even managed to grip his subjects. [break][break]

"Again,” Amaya commanded, the whistle signalling the clone to prepare for another round. This time the clone was ready, anticipating the effects of the illusions. It remained unfazed by the disorienting effects of the first illusion. Amaya, wasting no time, delved into the second genjutsu, letting the bells jingle as he fine-tuned his approach.
[break][break]

When he creating the first illusion, Amaya had focused his chakra precisely on the visual cortex. With the second, he targeted the auditory centers, aiming for a seamless overlay of the illusions. Although he localized his chakra to specific functions, integrating the illusions still required a broader manipulation of the brain’s neural pathways. However, in the less localized areas weaving the two techniques together was starting to become easier. [break][break]

Feeling satisfied with his attempt, he let the two be at once and waited to see what happened. The clone’s lack of immediate reaction, followed eventually by a frown, told him all he needed to know. His technique had not succeeded.

"Describe what you felt,” Amaya instructed his clone, extracting a notebook and pen. "Did it feel different?”[break][break]

The clone, an exact mirror of Amaya’s demeanour, nodded and began articulating its observations, "The initial illusion took hold effectively. But with the introduction of the second, there was slight discord, as if they were competing in my mind. However, it was very brief."[break][break]

Amaya transcribed the feedback meticulously, the clone's account suggesting an unintended awareness of the genjutsu. An illusion should be seamless, there should be no sensation like the one described. This indicated a clear flaw in his technique.[break][break]

"Each time?” Amaya probed further.[break][break]

"Yes,” his clone confirmed. "It is a very subtle disruption.”[break][break]

Pondering over this, Amaya sifted through Masshiro’s teaching from their last meeting, recalling advice that perhaps he had been overly focused on interweaving the illusions within the brain. Perhaps a more detached application of the genjutsu might prompt the mind to harmonize them naturally.[break][break]

This would make sense—segregating the illusions would prevent the clash described by the clone. The technique required each illusion to affect separate senses. Amaya underscored this hypothesis in his notes. He was getting close, this seemed like it may be a pivotal point in his journey with layered genjutsu.

Amaya, armed with new insight and a bolstered confidence, was eager to test his latest theory. He couldn’t help but think that he should have paid closer attention to Masshiro's advice earlier. Now was the moment for verification. [break][break]

The procedure would continue exactly as before, initiating with a whistle to trigger the Fighting Confused Technique. His clone was subjected to the familiar disorienting sensation of a spinning world. This time, however, Amaya honed his chakra with exceptional precision on the visual cortex, ensuring a tight focus without spillage.[break][break]

The ringing of the bells heralded the second illusion. This time, Amaya would adopt his new tactic. Rather than attempting to interlace the cognitive processes of the brain, he maintained a strict separation, targeting the auditory and visual centers seperately. This nuanced approach should allow each illusion to operate in isolation.[break][break]

From his vantage point, Amaya noticed an immediate improvement in control. The illusions operated side-by-side with more stability than ever before. After a brief duration, the illusions faded out.[break][break]

The results were conclusive, affirming the superiority of this method. Amaya documented this. With this knowledge now solidified, he was a step closer to rendering this technique combat-ready.

"One more round," Amaya informed his clone, his tone steady. After this final attempt, he planned to dispel the clone, reclaiming his chakra and the valuable insights gained from its experiences. [break][break]

Amaya repeated the sequence once again, starting with the distinctive whistle that sent the clone's sensory world into a disorienting spiral. Following closely was the second genjutsu, enveloping the clone in the incessant chiming of bells. He applied the illusions with precision, ensuring they remained distinct within the clone's mind, testing the extent of his chakra control.[break][break]
The challenge was to maintain the illusions in strict isolation within the brain—no overlap, no merging. Amaya executed this with his customary meticulous care, his chakra acting as a precise instrument to keep the illusions separate. The repeated practice, however, was beginning to take its toll, especially with a significant portion of his chakra bound within the clone.[break][break]
Despite the growing strain, Amaya focused on sustaining the illusions for an extended period, seeking to familiarize himself further with the technique. Mastering the application of layered genjutsu in the calm of practice was one thing; seamlessly applying it to combat was another challenge entirely.[break][break]

When the genjutsu eventually faltered, it marked the longest duration Amaya had maintained the illusions. Although progress was evident, he recognized the need for future sessions to concentrate on deploying this technique with efficiency. Mastery, for Amaya, meant achieving the ability to weave layered genjutsu into battle with as little thought as drawing breath.

With a fluid motion, Amaya formed a hand seal and dismissed the clone, dissolving before him into a puff of white smoke, signalling its end. There was no dialogue between them; the clone's experiences, along with a significant portion of chakra it held, flowed back to Amaya seamlessly. The replenishment of chakra was immediate, a welcome sensation that invigorated him, filling him with a renewed sense of energy and focus. [break][break]

The insights gained from the clone were invaluable. Although the clone had previously communicated its experiences, living those moments directly offered Amaya a depth of understanding he hadn't been able to rely on. He could recall, with vivid clarity, the sensations of the genjutsu affecting the clone's mind, experiencing firsthand the subtle nuances of the illusions' impact. These memories were now etched into his own consciousness, providing a richer, more detailed perspective on the technique's application and effects.[break][break]

Eager to capture these fresh insights while they were still vivid, Amaya quickly jotted down the key points. One thing stood out starkly—his realization that the chakra levels within each illusion were imbalanced. This imbalance had a domino effect, causing one illusion to unintentionally overshadow the other, despite his efforts to maintain their separation. Amaya made a note of the need for adjustment. Balancing the chakra levels between the illusions would be crucial, adding another layer of complexity to his practice.

After a session of experimentation, Amaya contemplated the creation of another clone to extend his practice. Weighing his remaining chakra against the benefits of further immediate practice, he chose the path of rest, opting instead to reflect on the day’s lessons. With the decision made, he packed up his things and made his way home, knowing rest would replenish his reserves for another day of training.[break][break]

The next morning Amaya left for the training grounds at dawn. He arrived with intentions to refine his techniques further, feeling more confident with what rest and contemplation had provided. The grounds were more populated at this early hour than they had been the day before, prompting Amaya to seek out a secluded corner where he could practice undisturbed.[break][break]

With a single seal, Amaya called forth an identical copy of himself amidst a swirl of smoke. The clone faced him, mirroring Amaya’s own stoic demeanour.[break][break]
Amaya took a moment to brief the clone on the training, instructing it on providing feedback after each iteration of illusions. Though the direct transfer of experiences upon the clone’s dismissal proved to be more valuable, this extra feedback was useful nonetheless.[break][break]
Setting aside his notebook, a silent witness to his progress, Amaya readied himself for the day’s practice. The familiar weight of the bells looped around his middle finger.

With his clone poised and ready, Amaya wasted no time diving into the thick of the practice. The core of his technique remained unchanged, he believed he had already created a sturdy foundation. The initial step was as routine as ever, yet executed with a finesse that only came with relentless repetition. A sharp whistle pierced the air, and the clone's world tumbled and flipped. [break][break]

As Amaya concentrated, he funnelled his chakra precisely towards the clone’s visual cortex,, ensuring a steady flow. The growing familiarity with the method had begun to foster a smoother execution with each repetition. The execution of the second illusion came almost naturally, a rhythm he had grown accustomed to.[break][break]

Ringing the bells attached to his finger, he laid the second illusion. One which caused the ring of bells to surround the clone, incessantly ringing. Amaya would follow the same technique, segregating this illusion to the specific part of the mind in charge of auditory pathways.[break][break]

The soft jingle of bells brought on the next illusion, a choir of bells that seemed to envelop the clone from all directions. Again, Amaya made sure his chakra was meticulously guided, this time to the auditory centers of the brain, isolating the genjutsu.[break][break]
To Amaya's satisfaction, the illusions held fast, a clear indication of his growing mastery and the benefit of a night’s rest. Maintaining an equilibrium of chakra between the illusions demanded his full attention still, but that would cease with continued practice.

Amaya's journey with this technique, with weeks of commitment, were beginning to unveil its reawrds. The simultaneous maintenance of two genjutsu, a feat that had once seemed daunting, was now within his grasp. Now he focused on finding the balance, feeling and understanding the harmonious synchronization between the techniques. Having this further understanding was crucial, not just for practice but for the fluid application of these illusions in the heat of battle. [break][break]

As he let the genjutsu persist for a few moments longer, Amaya soaked in the experience, eager to dissect every nuance. Then, with a conscious decision, he ended the technique, a sense of relief after the exertion.[break][break]

"And?” Amaya prompted the clone to relay its experiences.[break][break]

"A success, I imagine,” the clone responded. Its feedback was straightforward, "Other than both illusions working simultaneously, I felt nothing else.”[break][break]

Amaya's acknowledgment was subtle, a nod more to himself than to the clone. This was a milestone, indeed, but it was not over yet. A challenge still lay ahead—refining the technique to perfection. He was aware that the technique, while promising, was still far from being battle-ready.[break][break]

Determined to push his limits, Amaya resolved to spend the rest of the day experimenting with more complex illusions, testing the boundaries of his control. Until exhaustion, each new attempt would be a step closer to mastery.

"Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to practice in combat?” Amaya’s clone brought up an intriguing proposition. [break][break]

This suggestion was a clear natural progress, a practical approach to test the true efficacy of his genjutsu under pressure. "That is a good idea," he acknowledged.
[break][break]

Creating space between them, Amaya invited the clone to engage. As the clone surged forward, Amaya retreated with a backward leap, ensuring he had ample room to maneuver. Opting for the tried and tested illusions he had honed, Amaya prepared to launch the first genjutsu as the clone closed in on him.
[break][break]

With a timely whistle, Amaya unleashed the disorienting illusion, warping the clone's perception and sending its world into a tumultuous spin. The clone, caught mid-attack, faltered and stumbled, its coordination compromised. Yet, it managed to hold itself together, avoiding dispersion. It would be a useless exercise if the clone vanished so easily.[break][break]

Despite the visual disorientation, the clone pressed on, lunging toward Amaya with erratic, unfocused strikes. Its determination, even in a state of virtual blindness, served its purpose well — to keep Amaya engaged, forcing him to maintain his defensive agility while simultaneously managing the illusions. Creating more space again, Amaya would attempt the next genjutsu.

Amaya’s training with his clone took on the dynamic intricacies of real combat, pushing the limits of his genjutsu under pressure. The dance around the disoriented clone’s erratic attacks was a simple feat. But staying still was not an option and movement introduced a layer of complexity to maintaining his precision. [break][break]

As he dodged another clumsy attempt at a hit, Amaya initiated his genjutsu, the chime of bells marking the deployment of his next illusion. The challenge of sustaining the precision of his techniques while on the move became apparent; the fluidity he had mastered at a standstill was tested by the necessity of constant motion. Despite his efforts, the illusions faltered, freeing the clone from their influence.[break][break]

"They ended,” observed the clone, momentarily halting its assault. With a simple nod, Amaya signalled for the exercise to continue, undeterred by the hiccup. Determined to press on, he decided to switch tactics, opting out of the visual disorientation to keep the clone a more formidable adversary.[break][break]

The clone, back in pursuit, provided Amaya with the relentless pressure needed to refine his skills under duress. Once again, he employed the bell, its sound filling the air, a precursor to the encroaching illusion. Balancing the act of casting while dodging was a test, but Amaya found his rhythm, albeit with more effort than in static practice.[break][break]

The next phase of his strategy involved Hajimari, Amaya’s blade becoming an conduit for the second illusion. With a strategic angle, he caught the sunlight, creating a dazzling reflection that served as the trigger. To the clone, now ensnared in this new layer of genjutsu, Amaya’s position seemed displaced.

NAME: Yuganda Shiroku no Jutsu [Distorted Vision Technique][break]
RANK: C[break]
CHAKRA USAGE: Low[break]
CLASSIFICATION: Genjutsu[break]
ELEMENT: -[break]
HANDSEALS: -[break]
TRIGGER: Light reflected into target's eyes (ex: off user's blade)[break]
DESCRIPTION:[break]
This is a simple Genjutsu which slightly alters the opponent's field of vision. The user will appear to be slightly displaced than reality, much like looking at a fish through water. This will cause the target to believe the user is in a slightly different position , approximately half a foot different than reality. The user is able to choose in the moment what direction they seemed to be shifted. This technique is useful for hand-to-hand combat as the opponent is likely to dodge into your attack. However, if they are struck they are taken out of the genjutsu.

As the illusions seamlessly enveloped the clone, Amaya watched it lunge at an apparition of himself, proving the efficacy of the techniques. The clone's commitment to its misguided strike, which sailed harmlessly past the real Amaya, culminated in its own undoing as it dissipated into smoke upon impact with the ground. [break][break]

Feeling the rush of chakra returning to him, Amaya was taken aback by the realization of how close he had been to depleting his reserves. The timely end of the genjutsu had spared him from a state of exhaustion, underscoring the fine line he treaded between maintaining control and overextending himself. The influx of experiences from the clone, now reintegrated, provided him with valuable insights, some of which shone a light on the nuances of their recent practice.[break][break]

Reflecting on the day's efforts, Amaya felt a surge of satisfaction. The progression he had made was palpable. There was a newfound pride in his strides, a feeling that had eluded him in the years of seeming stagnation that followed his academy days. With a sense of accomplishment buoying his spirits, Amaya gathered his belongings, including the notebook that had borne witness to his developments. The resolve to keep advancing, to build on the momentum of today's successes, was strong within him.
