"EH?!?" Yuki hooted as Raika called out a warning to Kai. It DID, absolutely, register as a betrayal in the first few instants-

Ans then the explosions were easily TWICE what she had been expecting. The safe spot she had put between her kunai wasn't just a cross-section of shrapnel, it was a solid wall of blaze through the smoke, which meant there had been more explosive tags in play than she'd considered. A trap? That made sense. So she'd simply acted to keep her fellow Leaf from getting blown to pieces.

And kept blood off Yuki's hands.

She could live with that.

"Well?!" Sachi might be unsettled by the much deeper, animalistic roar her way. "You done too?!"

"What? Explosives?” Sachi thought as Raika called out to Kai, the direction of her voice unknown to the pinkette, but the mention of explosives surprised her. Distracted by the sudden tip-off, the girl didn’t see nor hear Raika coming from above through the veils of water, her attention refocused only when Raika dropped down, kicking out the senbons from either hand. Startled, the kunoichi’s body momentarily froze, the tension making her fall more damaging than it should've, her blue eyes widening as her ears picked up on the loud explosion that followed, an expression of worry plastered all over her face, the veils of water dropping as their time allowance was through.

Struggling to get up from the ground, her ears picked up on Kai's voice which reassured her of his safety. She was relieved, her body releasing itself from the adrenaline which left her feeling slightly dizzy from the change in pressure. Taking a deep breath amidst the smoke, she voiced her decision with a small smile, "If Kai is declaring forfeit, then I respect his decision to not continue the fight. I concede as well.” She smiled in her resolve, shaking her wrist to check the damage done. "As they say, "Hence the enlightened ruler is heedful, and the good general full of caution.’”

Proctor intervention was, shockingly, not even needed to avoid the potential catastrophe that laid in wait at Kai’s feet: Yuki’s explosives would have set off a chain reaction that could have resulted in dire, perhaps even fatal injury to the young Uchiha had Raika not warned and reacted as she did. A proctor mid-flash step returned to their seat, eyebrows raised with a distinctly impressed expression. In the aftermath, Kai conceded, with Sachi issuing her own concession shortly after. "An impressive display of good sportsmanship!” the announcer hollered. "The winners are: Hyuuga Raika and Nanashi Yuki!” None of the participants were hideously injured, but even so, all were escorted to the medical tent for a quick check-up. With no other challenges in the exams to come, no effort was spared in making sure that all of the participants were hale and whole; once everyone was sufficiently patched up, they would be allowed to return to the spectator stand to watch the remainder of the day’s fights.
