When the previous fight concluded, the announcer wasted no time in stepping forward, projecting his deep, booming voice to make himself heard throughout the beautifully acoustic arena to announce the second of the team fights. "Next up! The Bloody Blade of Amegakure, Ishikawa Ren! Paired with! Daredemo, the Ashen Swordsman of the Leaf! Versus! The Impenetrable Gate of Konohagakure, Hiesen Mairusu! And the Rabid Wolf Pack of Kumogakure, Ikonokoru Yamatsu and friends!” Yamatsu was still accompanied by the two wolves he had summoned in the previous round—the pups were intensely loyal to the young man, and would not leave his side until they were called elsewhere by force. Those who were pitted against each other in the first fight were now paired together in the next. The teams were bid to line up on their respective yellow lines and bow, and then the countdown for the round to start would begin. "Three… …two… …one… Begin!”

The Young Pup

Yamatsu waited in the back glancing over at Mairusu. They had just been opponents and now it seemed they would be fighting on the same side. He stood making his way over to the Konoha Genin motioning for Oki and Ino to wait. "Hey, I just wanted to say that our match was amazing and fun. Thank you for giving it your all. Uh I guess I should make a formal introduction, I am the Sage Apprentice of Kumogakure. The Young Pup. Those are my siblings Oki and Ino." He offered his hand again to show there were no hard feelings before pointing with his other hand at the two wolves. The title was one he had given himself, a way to show he still had a lot to learn. It seemed to be time for them to make their way back into the arena. Stepping back into the crowd filled theater flanked by Oki and Ino, Yamatsu smiled and waved to the home crowd. The combatants were introduced as Yamatsu noticed their minor wounds and burns. They seemed to have put each other through hell last round, good that may give Mairusu and Yamatsu and advantage. "Pattern Delta ignore member beta." The wolves would know what he meant. Their goal was to work as a team but he knew his partner would not know or be suited for their practiced formations. The wolves huffed in acknowledgement as the countdown began. As the announcer shouted begin Oki and Ino rushed toward the younger of their two opponents. From a young age the pack is taught how to target the small, sick and weak. Yamatsu had not fantasies about them being weak, the two across from them had made it this far. But one was obviously younger than the other and he hoped less prepared. Yamatsu himself wove three seals before using a jutsu that had quickly become a favorite of his. As the two wolves focused on Daredemo a flock of flaming crows materialized flying in his direction as well. The wolves snarled and barked looking to intimidate and frighten as they weave back and forth hoping to not be easy targets. The birds are then used as projectiles, fired all at once, with a range of twenty meters, which they can cover in five seconds. They can cause serious burns, and disfigurement alone. But together can easily take down a group of shinobi as they will ignite any flammable objects, such as clothes.

     Bloody Blade! Ren smirked as he chewed his ration pill. A little over-the-top, maybe, but he liked it well enough, even if Taro might laugh at him for it when he got back. He tossed a glance to The Ashen Swordsman beside him, then to his opponents.

     Talking quietly to his opponent-turned-partner as they walked to the yellow line, Ren didn't offer an apology for how their fight had ended - it'd be disrespectful, he figured. They had to work together now, which he suspected they were both fully capable of. He was glad the worst of their injuries had healed.

     "You may know Mairusu better than me," he said. "but neither has a blade - I say we get in close, put the pressure on." Ren advised, though he kept a wary eye on the wolves as he bowed.

     Ren rushed forward, sword flying out of its' sheath as the announcer began the round. As much as he wanted to immediately create a shadow clone and try to level the numbers game, the chakra usage was simply too much at this moment.

     The Kumogakure Shinobi had targeted his ally, using his two wolves and a group of flaming crows. Big numbers for one shinobi to fight off - Ren decided that he and Daredemo needed to stick together, work together. If Mairusu wasn't a Taijutsu or Bukijutsu expert, then clumping all together in one group would make it tougher to pull off ranged attacks - he needed to get up close and personal. For now, separating the summoner from his summons seemed a good way to throw a wrench in their effectiveness.

     Darting in, he headed straight for Yamatsu and left the crows and wolves for Daredemo to deal with or distract, for now. To keep the Konoha-nin off of him, at least for the moment, he threw a kunai with an explosive tag attached in his direction and then, closing in on the Kumogakure-nin, sought to knock Yamatsu off of his feet with a sliding rear spinning low kick.

[Daredemo]

DAREDEMO Hiesin Mairusu Ishikawa Ren Yamatsu

    Daredemo cracked his neck. Mairusu was at least familiar, they had met earlier in the exams. Yamatsu was a hidden factor, but the last fight had at least shown some of Yamatsu's techniques. He didn't need to worry much about Ren, since they'd be partners this time around.
    
    "Lucky they had the medics on hand," Daredemo stated rather matter of factly, "If you were still half blind I probably would have just conceded." He continued to stretch out, feeling relief with every pop of nitrogen in his joints. Every satisfying stretch of muscle relieving the tension of the last round of combat, at least somewhat. "You watched their fight right? Know what to expect? Yamatsu has fire techniques, and those summons of his. Mairusu uses lightning, plus Rashamon, a pretty heavy defensive technique. If Yamatsu uses that same tactic from the first fight, I have an idea. 

    Daredemo was a strategist, an analyzer, and while he didn't know this would be the second fight, he had been watching the fight between the two Sage Apprentices. He had been making sure to gain every detail about their fighting styles he could manage in the short time period they had. To the point that Daredemo was fully prepared for the assault that came. Yamatsu was starting this the same way as his last fight, meaning that Dare had had time to mentally prepare for his counter. Save his own skin, and hopefully take one of the wolves out in the process.

    Daredemo didn't take his blade out yet, instead he waited. He would quickly pull out a kunai which he kept in his off-hand. He would let the dogs rush in, and watch for the birds as they flew closer. He'd wait, with baited breath, for the last possible moment to make his move.

    As the two bucked and weaved Daredemo would actually dive towards them as they dived towards him. He'd grab one of the dogs, Ino (though Dare did not know there names, or how to tell them apart), by the scruff on the back of their neck, and roll forward over top of them. He grabbed the back of their neck knowing that it would at least protect him from that dogs attack as they couldn't really attack something "on their back". 

    With Daredemo rolling overtop of the dog, he would use his own momentum to drag the dog with him. Using it as a Canine-Shield, putting it right between him and the flaming swallows. With Ren distracting Yamatsu, he hoped that they couldn't stop the technique from injuring their own summon.

TAKE ME TO VALHALLA WHERE MY BROTHERS WAIT FOR ME

Whoever had come up with the idea for these exams really had a penchant for the odd. Timed hide-and-go-seek, a 'team' race that was almost anything but, individual fights and now having to work with the person he had just tried to beat in a two versus two bout; most everything else Mairusu could see being useful for a shinobi but this... not quite. Nevertheless this was the challenge put before him and there wasn't much he could do about it, and since he had done relatively little leading up to this point if the genin had any intention of being considered for promotion he needed a good showing.

Hearing his now teammate say how much he enjoyed their fight before introducing himself as a sage apprentice brought a slightly confused look to the genin. Had the powers at be known this when the two were matched up against each other? Was it safe to just announce that to people? Miho had been very clear on that part during their run-in a while backbut maybe they did it differently in Kumo. "Wait really? I'm the snake sage apprentice! Well, trying to be anyway, can't even summon my animal like you can. Probably would have been a better fight if so.. on my end, anyway. You three are super in tune." Mairusu replied before shaking hands with Yamatsu. He had so many more questions but the sound of the announcer would put them on pause. Still, Mairusu thought it cool to see what kind of combinations he had waiting for him if he continued on his path.

Their opponents would be Ren and Daredemo, two of his teammates from the first test who he had seen first hand what they could do and in turn had told them what he was capable of save for that one thing that had now been showcased. "Well this is awkward." The boy murmured to himself. Truth be told these entire exams had been on the uncomfortable side for the genin as his lack of progress in certain areas due to other pursuits had peeked through a couple times.

As the fight began Yamatsu was quick to press the advantage with the numbers they had sending the wolves and an attack of his own at Daredemo while Ren made his way towards the Kumo but not before throwing a kunai with an explosive note attached to it in his direction. Trying to split them up, or at the very least slow them down, was a smart move but this was a team fight so Mairusu would do his best to try and stick with his teammates. Channeling raiton chakra to his legs the boy would dart to the right to escape the radius of the incoming projectile before turning towards where Ren and Yamatsu were. Once in close he would perform two seals as a surge of raiton chakra hit his already charged legs enveloping them in a bright buzz of electricity.

He'd aim his first kick for the Ame-nin's legs before another towards his midsection. Mairusu wasn't the greatest at taijutsu but there was enough raiton in his strikes to more than make up for it and disable the boy for a few moments should they hit.

Storm Chaser
Being born with the innate ability to channel his chakra into raiton, Mairusu has spent quite a bit of time practicing with the element and learning various techniques. Though still a novice shinobi the boy can use his lightning natured chakra to aid him not only in combat but as a boon for simpler tasks such as increasing his movement speed and playing the occasional prank.

The Young Pup

Ino yelped as she was grabbed by the scruff of her neck. The quick roll had her flailing her one hundred pound frame. Oki snapped at the boys legs as he dove by grabbing his sister. Her turned quickly as the combination of animal and man tumbled. Dare was attempting to use Ino as a shield against the flaming crows! The she wolf continued to flail her body about not afraid of the coming attack. Oki right behind the boy snapping his jaws to weaken the mobility of Dare. Both wolves knew the risk of battle with Shinobi, they had seen members of their pack taken down by animals. A deer could pierce the lungs of even the sturdiest wolf. Their opponents now were human able to do far more than most prey. Before this battle Yamatsu had talked to the wolves explaining what could happen. He had even offered to send them home, they chose to stay by their brothers side. Yamatsu could not focus on the whimper he had another Konoha genin coming his way. He needed to trust the two could handle their own or at the least buy them time. As soon as the crows flew forth his focus switched to that of Ren. His eyes narrowed watching his throw a kunai with a tag attached towards Mairusu. Again he had to trust his new teammate could hold his own. Yamatsu seemed to be the focus on Ren, with the distance he had crossed as Yamatsu made his seals he knew he would not have enough time to use the same jutsu again. With his hands before him fingers at the ready Yamatsu made a single seal. He appeared about twenty meters to his right as he stopped the jutsu his hands reaching into his weapon pouches. With a quick throw he let loose a handful of shuriken aimed at Ren. Often times one's movements are disguised with the use of an extra element, be it a smoke bomb, leaves, water, sand, etc. in order to hide the user's trajectory from those with skilled eyes. Though it mimics teleportation, it is important to remember this jutsu merely boosts the agility of its user. As useful as this technique is, it can only be used 4 times in a battle thread, compounding in exertion and difficulty each time. with any more usages beyond that result in muscle tears in the legs from overexertion. The hand seal for this technique must be held until the shinobi reaches their destination, making it impossible to utilize other techniques regardless of any preparation.

     Both his explosive tag and sweeping kick had missed their target - they're fast, he thought, though he recognized the majority of that had come from the jutsu, for the Kumo-nin, at least - Mairusu's lightning-amped speed saw Ren quickly whip around to face him after his missed kick.

     The whimper of a wolf reached his ears, though he could not afford to look. Ren merely had to trust his teammate - with both enemies focused on him, the best thing he could do at the moment was buy time for Daredemo to act freely.

     Mairusu was approaching quickly, zipping toward him. Out of the corner of his eye, Ren could see Yamatsu throw a clutch of shuriken at him. There was barely any time - Mairusu would be able to hit him and zip out of the way, leaving him shocked and easy prey for the projectiles.

     Ren whipped a lightning rod out and threw it down and to the right into the ground, siphoning off some of the lightning. The Konoha-nin's first kick aimed to sweep at his legs, which Ren jumped over. He'd barely had time to react to the second, aimed at his midsection - Ren more or less 'hid' behind the flat of his sword.

     The force of the blow shot him backwards out of the air, crashing to the ground a few meters away with a grunt as he rolled to his feet - the lightning rod had sapped most of the Raiton away, though Ren still felt a zapping sensation through his muscles as he glanced down at his katana, noticing a thin crack that ran up the blade vertically, starting where the kick had slammed into the side.

     Thankfully, tanking the hit had allowed him to escape the shuriken. Ren formed a one-handed seal as chunks of earth rose up and formed into stars of his own, before they launched at Mairusu. He immediately ran off to chase down Yamatsu, wanting to keep the pressure on him with his blade - and, as he suspected might be apparent, get away from the Raiton user he was disadvantaged against.

DAREDEMO Hiesin Mairusu Ishikawa Ren Yamatsu

    Dare and Ren were simply outnumbered for now. It wasn't an issue they'd be able to pass without clones, and that was a large investment. Maybe getting some return on them, but not enough. Daredemo didn't know what else to do with his attack as of yet. He knew how he was starting, trying to cut down the numbers by taking out one of the dogs. Daredemo didn't know that it's name was Ino, but he was certainly happy that his diving attack had been successful enough.

     A shield against the flying birds that the dog hadn't slipped from. Dare could feel the force of their impact. He also knew the jutsu well enough, it was common amongst the largely fire natured Uchiha clan. Dare let go the moment he felt the impact, seeing as the dogs fur caught flames. 

    Now it was time to deal with the other dog yapping at his legs. He had known it was a risk, taking on just one of the dogs, as he felt this next one snapping at his legs. Picking at the same leg injury as he had sustained against Ren. Oki would simply be met with the blade. The boy finally unsheathing his sword simply to stab down at the dogs legs, hoping to stop the dogs ability to run after him. He was fairly confident that the point black fire damage would take the first dog out, and with his slash he'd have hopefully taken down the second, and so his eyes would scan for the next target. 

    Lightning beats Earth. Mairusu needs to be distracted. Daredemo pulled a kunai and explosive tag, sending it right towards Mairusu before quickly charging in behind it. Ren could hopefully hold up against Yamatsu. Getting this fight back to 2 v 2 was all Dare could do for now.

Mairusu thought himself clever keeping the couple pairs of lightning rods on his person to amplify his techniques and even bolster his hand to hand combat should the need arise, so imagine his surprise when he saw the very same objects used against him; if the situation weren't so serious he would have probably laughed. Thankfully the rods could do nothing about the physical impact of his strikes and while the first met only air the second had better luck though Ren had managed to brace himself with his sword yet the force was still enough to send the genin tumbling back. It was an opportunity provided in no small part to Yamatsu and the wolves occupying their opponent's attention and the sage apprentice was able to make the most of it, but from the welps of one of the animals Daredemo was fighting back better than the teen had been able to in the previous round.

There was little time to rest on laurels as the Ame-nin had sent projectiles made of earth at him as soon as he reoriented himself while the other had managed to escape the wolves just long enough to throw another kunai with an explosive note attached to it --man they really loved those things-- which meant it was time to make a move. Blocking one or the other would have been easy, a big waste of chakra, but easy and part of the genin felt like slowing up Daredemo to allow the wolves to get back on his tail would benefit the duo--er, quartet-- in the long run but it would no doubt leave him exposed to the stone shuriken which would surely hurt a bunch.

With the lightning rod still relatively close Mairusu's plan A was a no go so he'd have to hoof it the regular way. Raiton chakra would surge through his leg muscles once more giving him the boost that had allowed the distance between himself and Ren to be closed so quickly the first time and the genin would dart quickly to his left to escape the incoming attacks and if luck was on his side the stone shuriken and the kunai would run into each other, and maybe even Daredemo if he was that close behind. Mairusu would continue to put distance from his original position should the other Konoha genin still be in pursuit, but also to give himself some time to survey the scene. He'd be of little help to the wolves and wanted them to do their own thing relying on each other and commands from Yamatsu; a bond that the genin was a little jealous of and hoped to replicate with the snakes one day.

Ino had done her part vanishing in a puff of smoke with a sorrowful howl. To those listening the howl might have sounded like she was in pain. In truth the sound was an apology for not being able to finish the fight with her brothers. Oki's jaws had found purchase on Dare's leg, not for long and the bite was not deep enough to rend flesh from bone. However the damage caused he hoped would hinder the boy. The flash of the Konoha Genin's blade was the reason the wolf let go snarling as the metal moved towards his legs. As the blade moved closer the wolf vanished appearing thirty meters away heading towards Ren. Yamatsu watched as Ren blocked Mairusu's kick still being knocked away. His body flicker to the side had given him enough distance to turn his focus to Dare seeing Oki charging Ren. Ino was no where to be seen letting him know the howl was her last cry for this fight. His fingers wove four seals as the chakra molded in his stomach. The Kumo genin exhaled blowing a large fireball at Dare hoping to take the hobbled Genin out of the fight for good. The had lost one ally and Yamatsu wished to keep the numbers game on their side. So far the battle had been going decent, being able to switch focus to different opponents was a slight pain but having Mairusu focusing Ren had helped. If Ino was still around this could be going even better. He would have to make sure to apologize one hundred times over to her the next time he saw her. The result is a giant fireball, fueled by oil, which burns everything engulfed in it. Since it is both fire and oil mixed together, it is even difficult to be put out by water.

     Ren continued his run towards Yamatsu - closer, closer. Mairusu seemed to be disengaging, for the moment, from the corner of his eye - but the remaining wolf, Oki, rapidly appeared off to his side and started to charge at Ren. Damn, he thought, wishing to single in on Yamatsu.

     Thinking fast, he formed a single one-handed handseal and slid onto a knee, slapping his hand on the ground. A second later, Oki growing closer, a large cloud of smoke exploded into existence and hid Ren's presence within.

     Yet he knew the wolf would be able to find him by scent - the cloud wasn't for him. Ren yanked his white shirt off and tossed it onto the ground, pinning it with his sword, before forming another handseal and quickly diving into the earth, movements hidden in the cloud. Yamatsu was close enough now.

     Traveling beneath the ground, Ren appeared underneath from nowhere and grabbed at the Kumo-nin's heels, attempting to yank him into the earth as he jumped out himself. With Mairusu on the far side of the cloud, and Oki hopefully distracted thanks to the obscured sight and the sudden loss of the scent trail, Ren hoped to take Yamatsu out of the fight by immobilizing him.

DAREDEMO Hiesin Mairusu Ishikawa Ren Yamatsu

    That was one mutt down. The chomping at his heels made Daredemo very adamant about putting the other one down as well, but his blade caught nothing. Were they on the retreat? His eyes darted around, seeing it going towards his opponent from the last round, his ally in this one. Disappointing, he was hoping to do two for one on this attack from Yamatsu. It would work out in his favor however, as he got the opportunity to target the person he would much rather be focusing on. Mairusu and Ren weren't a good match-up, he didn't have time to focus on his leg, the medics would patch him up later. 

    The damage was bad, but adrenaline was a hell of a drug. He could feel the gnawing pain in his leg, but for now he could push through it. He needed to be quick, especially with the dog boy looking at him and making more signs. The last sign was very familiar, fire. More projectiles. He could see the man breathing in, ready to exhale. In an instant, Daredemo went from motionless to his top speed. The point being to accelerate to quick for the aim of Yamatsu's attack to be accurate. And Daredemo was aiming straight for Mairusu. 

    Moving at a faster speed than his target, a target distracted by his teammate no less, Daredemo was confident he would have a surprise attack here. His hands went to his blade, a tight grip on them as the moment he was in close with Mairusu the katana would slide out of it's sheath and take aim at center mass. A diagonal slash up Mairusu's chest. If landed properly, deep enough to cause heavy bleeding. It wasn't as if Dare would stop at one slash however. The moment his arc ended he would shift the blade and slash again, and again, and again. He'd push in on Mairusu, hoping to take him out quick.

A very simple technique, by using chakra the user is able to instantly accelerate their selves to their max speed. This can be done in just about any condition, but any techniques that slow the user's movement (such as armor from jutsu or most jutsu that might slow an individual) will still affect them.

DESCRIPTION:
Iaido is a style of quickdraw. The secret behind the speed of this quick draw comes from two separate movements. The user will begin with their hands close each one on the opposite side of the tsuba [guard]. The two movements needed to take out the sword in an instant faster than one can raise their guard come from the pulling motion onto the sheath as the user takes out the sword as well as flicking the sword out with their thumb increasing the speed of the pull onto the handle.

Distance and distraction had been Mairusu's saving grace these last couple rounds but aside from a near-solid hit on the Ame-nin the genin hadn't done much of note in the exams except pick up a nickname that he already knew Yaki would give him shit for. But there'd be time to lament over what could and should have been done better later as there was still a raging battle that required his full attention. Yamatsu had helped them out a ton by being able to keep Daredemo at bay for most of the bout but that advantage was quickly coming to an end. He would have liked to continue to press the numbers game against Ren and hopefully take them out quickly so he and his teammate could put their full attention on one person but with that lightning rod of his jammed in the ground any attacks from this range would be diverted; it did give Mairusu an idea though.

Whipping out the last two lightning rods of his own there was barely enough time to make the single seal required as the twin pieces of equipment vibrated to life with raiton chakra. He was surprised to see Daredemo close the gap on him so quickly and hoped the lone remaining wolf would have been able to buy him some time yet that wasn't the case and all the boy could manage to do was try and bring the rods up in a cross formation to protect his chest best he could. The lightning rods --while very sturdy-- weren't designed to go up against actual bladed weapons and Mairusu had no idea how long they'd hold up but what he was banking on was the technique he had activated to help him out. With raiton chakra surging through them at such a high rate a visible pulse of electricity could be seen emitting from them that extended a foot out and would definitely hurt. He was gambling on his opponent to not risk getting himself electrocuted and backing up but Mairusu's focus was squarely on trying his hardest to not let his block be broken as any of those slashes would have ended his exams in a hurry.

DESCRIPTION:
Raiton energy is sent through an object held in direct contact by the user. Raiton energy excites the atoms that make up the object to the point were it visibly emanates electricity. The raiton cloak in turn uses the same energy to discharge multiple currents of electricity in pulse-like intervals. This leads the object to let out extremely painful currents of electricity for up to a foot away from point of contact; while causing moderate electrical burns at the point of contact.

DESCRIPTION:
A pretty simple rod made of highly conductive material that just loves electricity. They are also typically a bit pointy at one end so they can be stuck into things. While they are meant to be used to supplement raiton, they can be used to clobber someone pretty good.

ABILITIES:
These lightning rods can be used as a rather ineffective throwing weapon, but their primary function is to be used as a supplemental tool in raiton techniques. Used to stake wires to the ground, create electrical barriers, or just draw lightning towards them, their use primarily depends on the techniques being used with them. They can be used as grounding rods, effectively nullifying incoming ranged lightning attacks, of D rank or less, by intercepting them if they pass within 5 meters of the rod. If embedded into something that will not ground the rod effectively, they can be used to amplify raiton techniques and extend the range, however, said techniques will target the rod and anything between it, meaning that proper planning and placement is required.

These lightning rods are not particularly good weapons and can be broken if pitted against another dedicated weapon in a conflict. They do make good projectiles and getting stuck with one can be problematic if a raiton technique follows.

The Young Pup

Oki huffed wishing he had moved just a bit closer to the Ame genin. He ran as fast as possible wishing to hinder his prey like he had the last boy. The blood from Dare's leg still stained his muzzle as he rushed after Ren. The boy slid down slapping the ground causing a smoke screen. Oki slowed not wanting to run into a trap as he listened and sniffed the air. He heard the clash of Dare and Mairusu knowing that was behind and not before. The sound of metal hitting the arena floor piercing the ground caught his attention. The smell was right but it did not move. He was waiting to long and needed to continue on his path trap or not. Yamatsu was again switching focus his mid to long range style keeping him safe for now. Oki was on Ren's flank the wolfs hunger to hunt bringing Yamatsu a smile. The cloud of smoke wiped it away as it did his visibility. Ren's movements stopped, it made no sense, Oki was right on his heels. Something was wrong and Yamatsu needed to move. He formed a single seal hoping his gamble would work. It was the second time in this fight he had called upon the Body Flicker. He moved towards where he had last seen Oki wanting to regroup with the wolf. He did not know that just moments after he entered the smoke the wolf would exit seeing and empty field before him. Empty until two arms reached out from the earth giving Oki a target again. SPOILER: Click to show Yamatsu's Jutsu/Abilities NAME: Shunshin no Jutsu [Body Flicker Technique] RANK: D CHAKRA USAGE: Low CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu [General] ELEMENT: None HANDSEALS: 1 DESCRIPTION: By invigorating one's entire body with chakra, a shinobi can seemingly disappear and reappear in another location faster than most people can see. Often times one's movements are disguised with the use of an extra element, be it a smoke bomb, leaves, water, sand, etc. in order to hide the user's trajectory from those with skilled eyes. Though it mimics teleportation, it is important to remember this jutsu merely boosts the agility of its user. As useful as this technique is, it can only be used 4 times in a battle thread, compounding in exertion and difficulty each time. with any more usages beyond that result in muscle tears in the legs from overexertion. The hand seal for this technique must be held until the shinobi reaches their destination, making it impossible to utilize other techniques regardless of any preparation. Enhanced Hearing The mountains are quiet and so are the animals that live there. For three years Yamatsu learned to hear the subtle shifting of dirt and loose pebbles. His hearing became almost akin to that of the wolves he lived with. Being able to hear subtle movements up to 20 meters (Genin limit for passive) away. He would use his ears when hunting alone staying still to let the animals roar the rocky terrain around him. The enhanced sense has a drawback leaving Yamatsu disoriented more than normal if a loud enough noise goes off near him.

The second team fight of the round was a fairly even match-up, a truly chaotic fray of four shinobi and two wolves all battling for dominance on the field. The fight drew out for its entire allotted half-hours, a steady give-and-take as the minutes ticked by, but when the timer for the fight rung out and called an end to the match it was Mairusu and Yamatsu who were on the back foot, forced into a defensive position while Daredemo and Ren pursued a relentless and versatile offense. "Time’s up!” the announcer called. "The winners are… Ishikawa Ren and Daredemo!” Daredemo had a nasty chunk taken out of his leg and all of the fighters were injured in some capacity, so all were escorted to the medical tent for a quick check-up. With no other challenges in the exams to come, no effort was spared in making sure that all of the participants were hale and whole; once everyone was sufficiently patched up, they would be allowed to return to the spectator stand to watch the remainder of the day’s fights.
