[Hono Kin]

The fact of the matter was, there was no martial arts that was perfect for all practitioners. Every person was different, and their body's structures and builds were important  to take into consideration. For a small child like Kin, she weighed less than a standard bag of rice, was small in stature for a girl her age, and was generally too young to make the most use of them. Though, this did not mean she did not train nor try. She'd of course practiced in drills at the academy in self defense classes, and in her time, seemed to delve into a bit of Taekwondo, but was guided more towards Judo, Aikido, and a bit of Kung Fu. Namely Wing Chun. 

Though in the words of Sensei Ip, he put it the best. There was no superior martial arts. Only practitioners. Hence why the small blonde rest before the dummies today. Carefully holding her hands open in an open stance, curling her hands in a short and close stance, her hands open palms as she slowly enters into her stance. She rolls her wrists and slowly crosses her arms out, doing short and defensive motions as she keeps her stance tight and squared. Taking deep breaths, she follows through the motions in the open air, 

[Hono Kin]

The key to this martial art was to attack and defend in a single motion. To block and attack at the same time in opposing motions. As she enters into the kata, she attempts to perform a blocking motion whilst also punching out in a jab with her opposite hand at the same time. Getting a feel for it, towards the dummy. Soft motions as she tries to get a feel. Latching out with her opposite hand, she slams out with her bare palm along the chest of the dummy. Rising her right leg and kicking higher in a hook like motion along the wooden appendage. Experimenting with her movements as she transitions into a light elbow.

The task was to attack swiftly, a furious dozen punches they said. Her arms moved in wing like motions as she swerves and keeps her form minimalistic. No wasted movements as she lashes out against the dummy. Kin found that the motions of the hands were interesting. Though she didn't know how it'd fare in an actual fight. What she did know was that as she moved her arms out, it felt natural. The thunks of the wooden dummy were made present throughout the yard as she takes deep breaths, her face calm as she repeats the kata and their motions in repetition.

[Hono Kin]

Martial arts wasn't complicated. There were a set number of ways for a person to move their body, and in doing so, with fine control and exercise, one could deliver them towards an opponent. For her, she needed to rely on precise strikes that disabled an opponent quickly, swiftly, and have countermeasures so that she might utilize their superior size and strength against them. In order to execute this efficiently, she didn't need an overwhelming power. What she need do is execute a sense of precision and speed. Frankly. Even if she didn't end up skilled in this martial art, it felt like good exercise. It broadened her horizons. 

Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. As her small hands bat against the dummy, she can begin to feel herself becoming a bit sore from the hits, as they made her delicate hands and forearms raw. However, she looked on as she familiarized herself with the body motions. If it hurt from hitting the dummy, it'd probably hurt when getting hit by a person too in the same way. Probably a lot more. Small bursts of speed as she sought to transition to the next kata, she occasionally sidesteps around the dummy to strike at it's sides, and employs footwork, hitting against the dummy with intent and purpose behind each blow. Something she took into deep consideration as she continues moving forward.

[Hono Kin]

One reason why this martial art appealed to her is because it was also useful with weapons. Useful with butterfly knives, weapons that could be wielded in two hands, as well as the staff. It was versatile, and as a budding young Kunoichi, by versing herself in martial arts, she could learn how to fight effectively and pick up on the subtle nuances of attacks. How a person's body could premeditate motions and courses of action. Kin was open minded, and a very observant child, so in this sense, she was able to discern such motions. It felt like a good place to start.

"Ichi. Nii. San. Yon. Gou. Roku. Nana. Hachi. Kyuu. Juu." She counts to herself as she transitions from blow to blow. Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. She was getting into a rhythm, and as she continues to begin her movements, she familiarizes herself not only with this martial art, but how to move her body. A repetitive cycle, she was able to begin losing herself to the motions. Martial arts should feel natural to employ, and as she strengthened herself, she was sure things would become far more natural. So far, she liked this stance. She didn't need to remain too stiff and rigid, and it allowed her to employ freedom of movement.

Familiarizing herself with this attack pattern, she slowly begins to transition herself to locking her body. Really understanding the flow of attacks. As she locks her "wing" she swings with the rotation of her elbow utilizing her bodily rotation and twist. Crossing her arms out as the small girl lashes out. Her kicks are low, not much higher than her waist line, though occasionally she aims higher. She'd come to realize. This art would not do so well for her at this stage. Not when the vast majority of fighters she'd face were going to be taller than she was. They at their height would either be punching down upon her, narrowing their striking potential seeing she was such a small target.

Otherwise. They'd use their legs. Keeping this in mind, she figured that if that was the case, she had to face the truth for what it was. No? If she got hit solidly once. It'd be all over. She was too lithe and fragile, and even if she got taller and bigger, she wasn't sure how she'd hold up there. Blinking, she continues with her motions, slowly striking at her target with a practiced precision as she took into perspective her few strengths, and then her weaknesses. All the while, she honed her reflexes and envisioned in her mind. 

[Hono Kin]

Kin was small. Very small. This meant that blows that came down upon her would be limited in the range of striking options. Punches would almost certainly be coming down upon her and at a relatively uncomfortable angle and range. This meant that kicks were the ideal way to attack her. The downside to this being of course, that considering her weight and height, all it'd take was one good blow to take her down for the count, if not kill her outright. Though. If she could get within range, she could attack along the waist line, a place that'd be difficult to protect against, and could be a good place to attack. Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. Keeping her body flexible, she leaned her body into her punches to give more weight. "Huph! Hup! Hup! Kya!"

Taijutsu seemed to come cleanly for her. Though in her head, she imagined all the ways attacks could come her way as she closed an opponent, a male, even of average height. Utilizing the taller dummy as a basis, she imagined herself striking along the sides and back of the legs, as well as the heels. The groin area, as well as tucking her body in a crouch as to make herself even smaller. Though...As much as she envisioned it in her head, she would be foolish to think everything was going to go as planned.

Blocking a strike that came down upon her might prove to be difficult, and she knew that. Knew she wouldn't be able to make much progress fighting just dummies without any real experience. She also knew that fighting kids her age wasn't really going to cut it either. Well. Especially if she planned on becoming a Genin and fast. Not that anyone would rush her or push her progress, but she wanted to be a ninja. A real ninja. Not play at being one. To be a warrior for their clan, and village, and country. Carefully drawing some plans on how she was going to do this, the Hono child contemplates.

Lashing out against the dummy, and continuing her loose motions, she takes deep breaths and tries to remain calm. Knowing that in the future, in a real fight, she wasn't going to be fighting against a dummy that was going to be standing still. She knew that it wasn't going to be some calm thing either. That there might be that feeling of dread. Imagining an enemy, she wasn't sure how she'd take it for real. Strengthen her body bit by bit. That was her plan and thought. Make the most of the situation and learn how to fight for real from someone who knew how. That sounded like a plan!

[Hono Kin]

Letting her imagination run freely, she envisioned how she could deliver harm to an opponent, and ultimately, when it came down to it? Her imagination largely played towards cunning more than anything else. Precise blows to vulnerable spots were nice, but she realized that beyond hand to hand? The best way to accomplish this would be with a weapon. Knives were ideal. Adjusting her stance, she firmly rotates her shoulders and body with her elbow, hitting against the knub of wood, before then swerving her body motion towards the right with her arms and delivering a slashing motion towards the "torso".

Thinking of all the vulnerable spots for her to aim, she lashed out towards a few spots, envisioning she was armed. Wrists. Groin. Kidney. Solar Plexus. Juggular. The higher she aimed, the more difficult it was to land a strike. Flowing her blows loosely, and hardening at the end, tensing her small hands and body, she explored what she could do. Finding out that the elbow and the knees were the densest and toughest bones in her body to work with. The knuckle joints of her fingers seemed to hit a bit harder than the flats did of her fist. All in all? Very insightful to say the least.

Understanding now the nuances and getting a bit better understanding of her range of movements, as well as imagining an opponent's, she understands now the basic concept of intent, and how each motion has a defined purpose and reason. Utilizing this, she hones her practice of martial arts and hopes that she'd be able to garner and learn more and apply some different styles in her future. To diversify and therefore be better prepared when she actually has to fight someone. Though for now, with her training done, she slowly steps back from the dummy, and then feels how sore her body was. Rubbing at her bruises, she knows that she'll heal. Still...Maybe a little ointment would help heal a little faster. Her mama had some no doubt. 

She had chores and things to get to doing after all. What with tending to the garden, lugging some charcoal, and helping the others. Shaking her hands and wrists, she scurries off back towards her home. Feeling fulfilled and as if her training had a good purpose and progress. Though, she did wonder and begin to fantasize what her actual first combat experience would be like. Whether it be a spar or otherwise. She'd never hurt anyone before, never been in a situation where she'd had to. Musing on that thought, Kin finds some comfort in the idea that she'd be ready.
