Her first lesson with someone who was not family here, an experience she was looking forward to. Her position was somewhat tentative due to the nature of the transfer she had been put through and the scrutiny of deciding if she was ready for it or not was up to the senior instructors judging the progress of the solo lessons that she was giving. Once more setting up the small classroom setting for her new student this time, one of the older academy students to her knowledge, she made sure that the place was once more as sterile as she could manage to make it.

A quick consumption of a pill that tasted way too salty for the calories it was giving would barely even be given a judging taste as she swallowed it all. An almost necessary action as the taste coated her entire mouth and soured her face a bit. Sea water had not been a good addition, boiled or not, to the pill. A note made for all future pills she would make. Turning back to a small thermus of miso she had on the desk she would sip away the horrible aftertaste and finish the last of her prep. A hauled rope sitting on her shoulder and a piece of chalk in her bandaged hands she would scrawl upon the board just before it was time for the lesson.

There is honour amongst the sand and the wind

"Good morning, Keihi-Sensei," Eiji greeted, punctual as the dawn in the desert. His bow to the academy teacher was filled with respect, acknowledging that there was honour in those who taught. To Eiji, those who dedicated themselves to education had an honour more selfless than those who sought it in battle. Though the battlefield held its own glory, the choice to nurture and guide was a nobler one in his eyes.[break][break]

Taking his place at the front of the classroom, as he was the sole student for this session. His notebook, though brimming with notes, was a practice he found redundant. The capacity of his memory negated the need for written reminders, yet he understood the value these people had placed on the written word. In a show of respect for these odd customs, and perhaps a bit of playfulness towards adaptation, he made a show of readiness with his notebook open before him.[break][break]

Today's focus was on the rope escape technique—a skill Eiji regarded with measured skepticism. The notion of allowing oneself to be bound was foreign to him, he would thrash like pit viper caught by the neck before he’d let that happen. Nevertheless, he recognized the wisdom in being prepared for all eventualities. He was not so blinded by pride as to miss the potential value of new knowledge. After all, venturing into the sand lion's den blindfolded was foolish, and Eiji was no fool.[break][break]
