DESCRIPTION:
Konohagakure shinobi will be meeting up with Kumogakure shinobi in Kaminari no Kuni in order to enact a joint super patrol, in which they cover the mountain regions surrounding Kumogakure and the Valley of Lightning. This is to ensure the village's safety, but also to encourage teamwork between the two villages. As a team, you must survey the village and work together as a unit. Threats could be crimes taking place, bandits, or missing-nin; the nomadic Ryujin clan has an especially prominent presence in the region, and some of its Ranton-gifted members are inclined to violence

The Pink Blur

Hibana was happy to have been asked to be on this mission. It was something spur of the moment from a report of a raid by what she could recall the "Wild People" of the mountains. She had been paired with a Kumo Genin, another opportunity to teach, who in all honesty looked like a beautiful woman. Since they would be in the mountains she decided to change her normal running shoes for a pair of all terrain boots. No matter the footwear she would be fast and deadly like always. She wore her standard outfit, black mid thigh shorts, black sleeveless crop top covered by a cropped sleeveless hoodie. Her Headband was tied around her wait like always on a fabric that matched her silk eye cover, ashen grey. "It's so nice to meet you, Kyuumu Risi was it? It's such an honor to be asked to join this mission for your village. Oh like if you have any questions or anything I know I'm only a Chunin but ya know I'm kinda smart in some areas. Oh I hope you don't mind but I packed a quick little lunch for us in my bag." She pointed to the small backpack filled with rations and other small supplies they might need. She was looking forward to doing more than just training Genin in physical combat. She stretched her legs making the Hung Gar Rings rattle ready to be off on a new adventure. She was not sure if she should lead the way or not, she was higher rank but this was Risi's land. "Would you like to show me the way my good sir?" She bowed low, not mockingly but more as a funny gesture to how Risi was dressed.

Risi was, in all honesty, a bit shocked that the Chuunin had him pegged as a man, despite his appearance. As he usually did on missions, he'd left behind his top hat and merely wore the Kumogakure headband tied around his waist, slightly askew like a few of the other belts, but prominently displaying the Kumogakure symbol in front. He still looked and dressed like a woman, with the sleeveless white shirt and cravat over a dress coat as well as a skirt with an opening all the way up along his right leg to display quite a lot of his pale skin. For this mission, he'd gone without the red paint that he normally wore on his lips, but his long black hair and rather feminine appearance normally caused people to consider him a woman by default. Even his black combat boots didn't seem all that feminine when taken as a whole with the rest of his appearance.

He wonders for a moment if she knew more than she let on, especially with her own apparently ditzy personality, but that would be just his luck, to be paired with a Konoha ninja that could both see through his outward appearance as well as having a bit of a personality that matched his own. Not that it would matter; what mattered was the mission, and making sure these innocent people would be safe from further harrying tactics from the Wild People in the mountains. He still had his scythe out, since he was feeling more confident in using it like a weapon and not just a tool for him to use for casting a few Genjutsu.

Instead of being too suspicious of her, he just goes for it, instead. Being too strange would almost certainly ruin any trust this mission was meant to instill in both of them.

"Yes, that's me!~ But please, call me Risi. And you're uh... "

He pretends to have completely forgotten her name, but in reality, he had read the very short dossier for the mission, which was really only meant to provide a name, a rank, and a few minor details, like their favorite food and their blood type. He had it almost memorized by rote, in fact.

"Ah, Namikaze Hibana."

The name Namikaze meant almost nothing to Risi. He was almost ashamed, inside, that he hadn't been paired with an Uchiha or a Hyuga, like his lover had been, but at least the blonde had even prepared some food for the two of them on this mission. He didn't really think the mission would be so long as to require some food, but he would be happy for it, nonetheless. She even offers to let him lead, which was odd since she was the higher ranking shinobi in this instance, but he would take it in stride.

"I would like that much, my dear lady.~"

The Kumo Nin was so polite it made Hibana beam with excitement. The large scythe made her think Risi was also a close combat specialist. That would be good to know maybe they could plan some combos or at least she could make sure she was out of the way of the large weapon. Hibana let Risi lead the way skipping behind him humming some random idol pop tune. "So Risi-Chan you've GOT to know how beautiful you are right? Your hair the way it contrasts with you spooky pale skin tone is TO DIE for. You got a girlfriend?" She leaned in nudging his shoulder playfully hoping he did not think she was coming onto him. She figured while they were alone why not learn more about each other. She had met so many new and nice people in Kumogakure she was excited to meet more. Who knew maybe Risi could become her BFF in Kumo and they could be pen pals. "Like you've gotta at least be beating them away with that scythe of yours right?" She laughed at her own stupid joke already enjoying the time she was spending with the man. It was a way she found to loosen up before combat, free her mind to focus later on the task at hand. She let the gentle clang of the rings around her legs keep the task close in mind, never letting it stray to far they had a mission to do.

Being asked if he had a girlfriend was one of the very rare instances that caused him to have his pale cheeks turn slightly red. It wasn't the flattery of calling him beautiful, or even being told that his pale complexion was "spooky", but that the thought of Yamatsu came unbidden to the forefront of his mind, and the thought of Yamatsu made his cheeks change to this vermilion color. Luckily, she was behind him, and he was able to change his thoughts long enough that his cheeks returned to their normal porcelain color before he smiles over his shoulder at the woman, raising one of his carefully sculpted eyebrows.

"Is that an offer?~ Unfortunately for you, I'm afraid I'm taken. By a man, in case you get the wrong idea about me.~"

Unfortunately for Hibana, it sounded like he wasn't entirely sure if she was actually making an offer; it was somewhat hard to read her or her intentions, which was a very odd situation for the young spymaster. He can't help but to giggle a bit with her when she suggested that he had to beat away suitors with his scythe, and it wasn't even forced. It was a bit silly, but while he did get the occasional sidelong glance, he rarely got a wolf-whistle. Likely because it was somewhat known that he was with Yamatsu; it wasn't like they tried to hide it, not that they flaunted it everywhere they went like some goofy or silly couple. He still felt a bit warm from thinking about his lover, but the mission took priority for the moment.

"Anyways, with your toned legs, I bet it takes a lot of swatting to keep the men from ogling, right? I'm sure you've got the same issues over in Konoha when it comes to suitors."

The light jingling of metal is honestly a bit worrisome for Risi. He was a lot more stealthy in his methods, and the rings might give them away, but he somehow doubted it would be much of an issue. As they walked, though, he kept his red eyes glancing in every direction, hoping to catch an errant movement that would signify someone moving through the brush of the Kami no Kuni forests that bordered through the mountain with Hi no Kuni's own lush vegetation, despite the elevation and rocky soil making growth quite difficult for them.

Hibana cooed with glee when Risi complimented her legs, they were a point of pride for the Namikaze. She threw her arms up in an exaggerated motion and an exasperated sigh. "OH MY GOD there are soooo many, all the guys are like Oh Hibana your legs are so sexy, Your hair is quirky, Your eyes are cool! Mostly its young genin trying to look cool. I am as well in a relationship, very public you know." Her tone was teasing and gossipy. "The Hyuga Princess seeing the lowly Namikaze mutt! Oh how tragic!" She had been acting dramatic as she spoke having a great time with her new acquaintance. "No but for real I do have a girlfriend and she is SOOOOOOOO amazing. So strong and caring, our first date I kicked her ass you know?" She had left out the part about spraining her ankle on the first meeting, or they in actuality their spar had ended in a draw after Hibana kissed Raika mid fight. Her ease and calm were not misplaced, she had been watching Risi, noticing him look around them. His beautiful eyes were hard to miss darting from side to side. If he had not made a move yet then Hibana felt confident. "Is your boy toy pretty like you or rugged and handsome?" Hibana turned around walking backwards for a moment, the slight movement gave her time to lift her eye cover checking for chakra signs behind them. All clear for the moment, she spun back around on her heels continuing the non stop rambling.

Risi was honestly having a bit of fun during this mission, which was a bit odd for him. The raven-haired shinobi was often very much into keeping to business during the mission, but he had to admit that Hibana wasn't so bad as she'd seemed at first. She was a bit fun to have around, although somehow in a completely different way than it had been fun hanging out with Umechika back when they'd had a mission together to tail some bigwig that was having a run-in with the yakuza. Risi is also a bit surprised when Hibana mentions that her "eyes are cool", and he wonders why that would be a common compliment for her, seeing as he's only seen one of her eyes, and although the pink color is quite interesting, it's not so interesting as to compliment both of them. He wonders at that, but doesn't ask outright. Perhaps she'd gotten a compliment like that when she had two eyes. Another point of interest is that she's apparently in a relationship with the Hyuga princess, and that does in fact raise his eyebrows even higher.

"Oh my!~ I didn't know I was on a mission with a consort. How spicy.~"

The conversation then switches back to Yamatsu, and this time he's prepared enough that he doesn't end up with his cheeks burning again, and he can instead answer her question under much more control, though he can't stop his lips from curling upwards in a smile as he thinks about his boyfriend. He wonders if Yamatsu really is his boytoy... No, their love is mutual and precious, so he's not sure if he could call Yamatsu a boytoy.

"Oh, he's kind of somewhere in the middle. He has some rugged and strong qualities, but he's also a romantic kind of guy, very soft on the inside. It's hard to describe him, really..."

Distracted as he was in his description and thoughts of Yamatsu, he doesn't actually notice that Hibana is lifting her eye concealing band in order to check behind them for other bandits, and he misses it completely, keeping Hibana's secret hidden for that much longer, despite the fact that they're on a mission together. He stops spinning his scythe a little, since the foliage isn't quite so thick that he'll really need to knock away the plants or limbs, even if they do grow somewhat close in places.

"Seems like he is an enigma then huh? I bet one day you'll know the right words to say about him. I feel that way about Raika, the first time I saw her at the academy I knew we would be friends. Then for a long time she was gone but that happens in life you know." The blonde rushed ahead of Risi stopping a few paces in front of him turning and facing him. "But that's why we love when we can!" Hibana's smile seemed to never fade from her face beaming at Risi. She stepped aside letting him walk past turning to walk by his side. "When Raika came back she was different, a lot bigger, stronger but it was still my friend in that pile of muscle. I didn't know it at the time but that day would change everything. I ended up getting hurt and she nursed me back to perfect health. Honestly the reason I'm here in Kumo is to watch her pass the Chunin Exam." She stopped Risi and gave a stern look of determination. "Yes I said pass because there is nothing she can't do! Anyway I think we are getting close to where those mountain people were last sighted." Her jovial tone became more serious as her left eye scanned bush to bush for any movement. She reached down taking the small strings attached to the Hung Gar Rings tying them together. She did not want to be making any unnecessary noise. She debated removing her eye cover, being at one hundred percent from the go but did not know how Risi would react. It was better save for later if they were in a pinch.

Risi honestly thought it was a bit funny, in an ironic sort of way, that Hibana thought of Yamatsu as the enigma, when Risi was, in a way, a man with many conflicting and often downright contradictory allegiances. If he hadn't been in full control of his emotional reactions, he might have even given a hearty giggle at that one. In any case, it was interesting to hear this about Raika and having left her village of Konoha for a time. It was certainly the first time he'd heard of such a thing, as genin are rarely permitted to leave the village for long without an experienced escort, as he had for this mission. He's also a bit surprised when the woman stops him in order to tell him firmly that Raika would be passing the Chuunin Exams that Hanabi was apparently coming to Kumogakure to watch in the first place. He rather hoped that this Raika Hyuga did, in fact, pass the exams, for their sake, considering the blonde's determination. He gives this a curt nod, not because he doubts the ability of this Genin he's never met before, but moreso because he wanted to say the same about Yamatsu. But if they were to oppose one another in the exams, what then?

At least the focus shifts back to the mission, and away from more pressing concerns like the upcoming Chuunin Exams. Risi realizes as well that they're getting close to a choke point in the mountainous forest, where a path would deviate to slip between two crags in the mountains in order to make a path through. It was a natural ambush point, and one that he suspected was the best chance to try and catch the Wild People if they were truly an outlaw element that needed to be fought against. With Hibana's strange bangles tightened, he's surprised that they're no longer making noise like they had before. But he decided, since he was the one more richly dressed, that he should probably be the bait, and he floats this idea to Hibana.

"What do you say to this idea? I could be bait for a potential ambush, walking out in the open through the mountain pass, with you acting as the tracker. I'll let you hold my scythe so I look like an even better target. If they try to assault me, you can still intervene and throw me my scythe, but I suspect they might drag me away for ransom, because of my nice clothes."
