Forth, under the day's low beams

Though his vision was vivid at present, still-enhanced by the powers of the Sharingan, it began to blur slightly.

He could feel the constant dripping of blood onto the roof below him, and instantly he knew the cause of his sudden lack of focus. "I'm losing too much blood." A reality that didn't bid well for his current situation. And if he fell...

Miroru or the laborers would be the bowman's next target. "That can't happen." Izusa thought, his grip tightening around the hilt of his wakizashi. As he locked eyes with the archer he saw something. A faint flicker of the youth's gaze to his own torso. "So it did take effect." He thought... but that meant his foe was ignoring the illusion outright.

No small feat considering the horror that his Utakata typically afflicted. But it was in that split second of distraction that his opportunity arose— and Izusa swiped three wired shuriken from his pouch. "Now." His hand flashed, and the stars were sent slicing through the air towards his target. The bowman's reflexes were sharper than his own, and he loosed his arrow in return. But the Uchiha was already on the move, just narrowly missing having his upper arm pierced as he sidestepped the projectile. The Kashikoi Kanami Kōsoku arced around the archer's figure, the shuriken's wires threatening to close in on, bind, and slice into his flesh. "It seems enough to me." He muttered, then pulled on the wires..

Izusa's fingers on his left hand yanking back close the wire trap, his red eyes assisting in their conducting. Before it did, he caught sight of a hint of worry in the archer's gaze... then, a smile. And just as the shuriken curved to restrain him fully, another pellet was dashed against the ground. A large cloud of smoke burst... and the wires cut only smog as the foe vanished without a trace. "It can't be another Kawarimi," he thought, scanning the area. No sign of the archer was to be found. "Shunshin?" Most likely, and Izusa could already feel himself start to bristle.

Frustration at his second time being surprised by this stranger, a boy no older than sixteen by the looks of him. He hadn't the time to muse on it, however, as his relative was still in danger. So after one last look around he turned... and began darting back towards the tower. To reinforce the younger Uchiha. Jolts of electricity caught his sharp gaze, and he did his best to shake off any sluggishness that was beginning to set in as he halted on a rooftop and observed. Unconscious figures of the assailants, a few dead by his hand or the archer's, and Miroru zipping around, wreathed in Raiton chakra. One, the largest and most skilled of the group, still remained.

Rather than leap immediately into the fray and throw off Miroru's blitzing attack, he decided to help out from his vantage point first. "You." He called out to the oaf, hoping to catch his attention for a split second as he sheathed his short blade. Several hand seals followed, preempting his Magen: Jigoku Kōka no Jutsu. If it worked, the man would feel an intense, skin-splitting heat coming from above. And if he looked... he would see a gigantic ball of fire.

Izusa hoped the man would panic, and that the illusion would give Miroru the opportunity she needed to land the decisive blow. A few of the downed men groaned and reached for their weapons, looking to finish their attack on the workers who were standing by in shock. The instructor narrowed his eyes and leapt from his position on the rooftop.

Landing nearby one of them with a pained wince. He stood, only to step on the masked figure's hand, draw his wakizashi, and stab it into the back of the man's neck. A finishing blow on an otherwise mostly-helpless attacker.

OFFENSIVE TECHNIQUES:
NAME: Kashikoi Kanami Kōsoku [Smart Wire Binding]
RANK: C
CHAKRA USAGE: Low
CLASSIFICATION: Bukijutsu
ELEMENT: N/A
HANDSEALS: None
DESCRIPTION:
An extremely unsuspecting move and widely adaptable jutsu which utilizes the clan's familiarity with shuriken and the Sharingan. In the midst of battle, the user can throw their shuriken with wires attached, seemingly aimed for the opponent keeping in mind all the deflections and dodged projectiles. Using the shuriken to spread and set the wires around, they can position them to suddenly bind their target, requiring only to trigger a change of position of the set wires, such as cutting one of them, causing the others to instantly rearrange. The neck, hands, appendages, and torso and other body parts will become caught in a complex array of strong wire which prevents movement. It can also be combined with an array of other traps as well.

NAME: Magen: Jigoku Kōka no Jutsu [Demonic Illusion: Descending Hell Technique]
RANK: B
CHAKRA USAGE: Medium
CLASSIFICATION: Genjutsu
ELEMENT: N/A
TRIGGER: Handseals (Visual)
DESCRIPTION:
This technique causes the illusion of a tremendous ball of fire falling from the sky into a designated area. The targets involved in the illusion literally feel the ball's hot temperature getting closer, causing a burning sensation if it touches the target, though it won't leave any permanent injury.

SPECIAL ABILITIES:

JISEISHIN - ENHANCED CHAKRA CONTROL

"Self control." Possessing only average chakra reserves, Izusa learned early on to keep his energy expenditure minimal. Using only the required amount of chakra and nothing more to perform his jutsu. This allows him to not only ration out his chakra more efficiently, but to remain active in battle for longer periods of time without tiring. Restraint is vital to any ninja.

SHARINGAN - KKG

Wielder of his clan's legendary dōjutsu, the Sharingan gives Izusa incredible sensory awareness. Color springs to life in vivid hues and his clarity is enhanced, making even chakra visible to his red eyes. Still incomplete since its awakening, it requires further improvement. As his one tomoe spins, his eyes allow him to perceive his opponent to an enhanced degree and follow their movements with more ease. Understanding firsthand the great cost that comes with furthering one's Sharingan, Izusa is in no rush to develop it soon. Instead utilizing it only when necessary and treating his Kekkei Genkai like any other skill. Notably, his dominant right eye has a tendency to activate first on its own when his emotions rise.

ONKOCHISHIN - INTELLIGENCE

"Review past, know future." An avid reader for as long as he can remember, Izusa is ever thoughtful. Scrolls on poetry, life, war, tactics, human nature— all providing him keen insight into others. Making him an experienced tactician. Applying this to his shinobi training, his sharp mind allows him to read situations and opponents expertly. Concocting masterful plans even in the midst of combat to compensate for his own shortcomings and capitalize on weaknesses in their defenses.

"C'mon, man. That's not necessary."

Miroru's voice, behind Izusa. She hadn't approached. There'd been no sign. There'd been nothing, and then the soft pat of her feet hitting the ground much as his just had, and her speaking. She seemed awfully calm as she strode in to kneel beside him, pulling off her backpack and beelining to one of the side pockets, shoving things into his hands.

White puffy rolls of fluffy cloth. "Gauze. Those are punctures, so you're gonna have to cram the gauze into the wounds and pack it until the bleeding slows." A tighter roll of beige cloth. "Bandages to hold the packed gauze in. Wrap it around a few times, it's adhesive to itself." Then, a small bottle. "Blood pills. You're leaking like a faucet. Make sure you take one once you staunch the bleeding."

All the while, the other Miroru was hammering on the giant, right up until a small crack got blasted into his armor. Without warning, she flashed three seals in rapid fire, releasing her speed technique- and smashed an electrified, water-coated gunbai into the crack in the fellow's armor, drawing an immediate, agonized scream as he convulsed- and collapsed, steam leaking from inside the armor as he twitched, thoroughly done with the fight. The Miroru by Izusa just watched as she closed her backpack up again.

"Scared your archer buddy off, huh? Pretty sneaky fellow."

Original Miroru emerges from her Five-Layer barrier and lands next to Izusa. Shoves first aid stuff into his hands. Clean yoself up, boyuh.

Clone Miroru activates Short Circuit and paralyzes/fucks up the last opponent.

To call memories

His shoulder and abdomen hurt like hell, he could feel that old sense of irritation welling up inside of him, and he'd just slain a defenseless man in front of Miroru. "I'm not thinking clearly." He cursed himself internally, then pulled.

The wakizashi slipping free of the assailant's neck with one swift motion. His relative's voice sounded out, and he turned to see her. For the briefest of moments, she might have seen him for what he truly was. Blood spattered on his cheek, a cold, uncaring gaze, the casual manner in which he finished off the downed man. If Izusa wasn't careful...

...his mask would fall off outright, not just slip. "Thank you, Miroru-chan." He said, his expression softening just a touch until a bit of movement caught his eye. The instructor looked past her, to the other assailants who had been debating renewing their own attack, then to the dead man at his feet. Seeing their comrade killed without a second thought seemed to dissuade them... and so he wiped off his short blade in the crook of his elbow, cleaning the blood off with his haori. "And you're right..." he agreed with her verbally, though it was a lie. "...I got carried away."

In his experience, extreme violence was a useful tool in deterring others. The Foundation made sure to drill that lesson into his head at a young age. But today, he was supposed to be an instructor, not some calculating killer... so he sheathed his blade, and accepted the supplies with a thankful nod. Now that their foes were incapacitated, he moved.

To sit atop a nearby crate as he tended to his wounds. The younger Uchiha's bunshin beat the last of the assailants senseless, and he shrugged off his haori, then the top half of his yukata as he watched. "Sorry to leave most of the hard work to you," he apologized to the girl, wincing slightly as he applied the gauze to his shoulder and abdomen to stymie the blood flow somewhat. His body was riddled with small scars from training and battles past, and notably, this didn't seem to be his first time treating himself. "But you did well, considering." The white fabric stung, but he barely made a noise as he wrapped his wounds as best as he could. Then, he took a few of the offered blood pills.

Removal of the snapped arrows would have to wait unless he wanted to bleed out here on the pavement. "As sneaky as he is dangerous," the instructor said about the archer, the red fading from his eyes as his dōjutsu deactivated, leaving only a sullen expression on his face. "That's the second time we've crossed paths, now... I shouldn't have let him get away." Coincidences happened, but he didn't believe for a second that this was fate. That marksman showed his face for a reason, and to fire directly on Konoha shinobi was bold. Too bold for some run-of-the-mill criminal.

He was missing something important... but the pain from his wounds was making it hard to think straight. Izusa promptly covered himself back up with his blood-stained clothes and stood, moving to collect the katana he'd discarded earlier and sheathing that as well. Izusa returned to Miroru's side, then stared at the downed assailants.

A few dead, most unconscious, and the large one still twitching from an electric beatdown. Their next course of action seemed obvious. "Do you think any of them will be in a talking mood?" He asked, turning to glance at the younger Uchiha for a moment.  "Attacking us like this was pretty brazen... and the masks tell me they were somewhat organized." If not strong, but that archer of theirs was at least at the level of tokubetsu jōnin based on how he moved and fought. Was someone stronger pulling the strings? "We should find out who they're working for." If he was in uniform for his other work, there wouldn't have even been a question. He still had wire, and there were enough vacant warehouses around to stage an impromptu interrogation room. But he had to consider his company.

Miroru had seen enough already... so it'd be better for him to default to the role of hapless instructor for the rest of the mission. If he was lucky, she might just think he was having an off day. "I doubt it," he thought. "She's no fool."

Something Miroru had little cause to stop and consider was that her perspective on the application of violence was a privileged one. From where she stood, she considered it as effective and far preferable to deliver that same overwhelming display without a lethal result.

But not everybody had a living nuclear battery in their guts powering their every move.

She took Izusa's reply at face value, nodding in acceptance and sighing faintly. "It happens. I just- try to keep a level keel." After all, she couldn't afford to get carried away. For exactly the same reason.

Then, though, it was an easy shift. Caring for Izusa came naturally, and she shook her head at the apology. "Nah, it's fine. He got a couple good hits in, but I'm tough, and my barriers ate most of it. No need to apologize." She wasn't even winded, come to think of it. What kind of chakra stores did this kid really have?

"Well- probably it'd have been better to catch him, but he was working with a mundane weapon and pretty limited chakra. You don't know for sure if he was ever really here, you know? I wouldn't stress too hard over it. Someone like that, you gotta bait a trap two or three layers deep to catch."

"Oh, definitely. Especially if we make use of one of my own personal specialty techniques~" Miroru chortled gleefully. "If the whole group goes from limping around a warehouse wondering what happened to getting strung up on wires all at once, I bet you the last resistances to being helpful will go out the window. Feeling helpless usually bridges that gap well."

From ruin or from ancient trees

Izusa nodded at the girl's words, wincing slightly as he took a deep breath. "Smart." He said with a weak smile.

Normally, he was an expert at keeping level. He couldn't tell whether it was his general exhaustion, the appearance of that archer, or their earlier conversation that threw him off. Maybe a combination of all three working in tandem.

Either way, their battle was over, and there didn't seem to be enough of them left to continue their doomed assault on the laborers. "Must be that Uchiha stubbornness of ours." Izusa said to Miroru's comment about being tough. She really was, and far more skilled than even he anticipated. He glanced at the downed goliath of a man, his figure still smoking, then back to her. "Seriously though— solid work, Miroru." He said, nodding at her in acknowledgement.

Not that she needed to prove anything, but the younger Uchiha had shown herself to be a fine kunoichi today. "I'll be ready for him next time." The instructor replied, agreeing with her assessment of setting a proper trap. The marksman was a wily opponent, and obviously had some level of shinobi training. It'd be much harder to take him down than even a dozen goons lurking near the docks. Miroru's assent prompted another slight smirk. "Specialty technique, huh?" He asked, removing a length of ninja wire from his hip pouch and dangling it by a finger. "By all means, then. Let's see if we can't learn a thing or two from our friends here." Izusa would then go about assisting her.

Providing whatever aid she needed in setting up this technique of hers, though he was moving a bit more sluggishly than usual due to his wounds. Whatever the girl had in store, he would make sure to listen closely to the tales of the assailants. Paying extra attention for any mention of a name he'd heard before, the last time that marksman showed.

Talk of one 'Half-Smiling Man' was mentioned by some unfortunate mook back in the Border Town... shortly before an arrow pierced his heart. Something told him the appearance of that bowman again was connected. But the masks and the theatrics were new to him. Whatever information they gained, if any, he would document meticulously.

If there really was some new player shaking up the underbelly of Hi no Kuni... he needed to know. Along with his superiors so that they could effect a real solution. A proactive one, preferably involving masked operatives and blades in the night. Once they were done, all that was left for to do was remand the culprits into custody and resume watch.

A successful assignment... if a bit ominous in its implications. Still, he hoped the result would make the criminal element in the Port City think twice about attacking Konoha shinobi in the future. But only time could really tell.
