Amegakure, hidden in the shadows of perpetual rain, was home to the renowned Susano Clan. They were the masters of paper, capable of manipulating them with ease and even turned their body into paper. Among them was Akirei, a shinobi whose heart resonated with a different calling. While most the Susano usually excelled in range and aerial combat, Akirei harboured an insatiable love for bukijutsu, particularly kenjutsu, the art of the blade.

His distinctiveness among the Susano could be traced back to his upbringing, marked by the shadows of his father's gambling addiction. Due to his father’s reckless behaviors and addiction, the burden of a staggering debt was passed to Akirei's family the moment he fled the country. The family was also evicted from the clan compound out of shame. Growing up in a poor environment where melee combat was the norm, and, of course, with a bukijutsu specialist mother, he became an anomaly within the Susano, like a zebra amidst a herd of horses.

Even after being accepted back to the clan due to his competency as a shinobi, Akirei consistently dismissed the advice offered by his clanmates and teammates concerning his fighting style. He discovered solace in the rhythmic dance of blades and remained resolute in his refusal to alter his approach. His combat technique revolved extensively around crafting weapons from paper, a distinctive fusion of tradition and innovation previously unseen.

Nevertheless, the more he employed this technique, the more apparent it became that he felt a sense of inadequacy. There was a realisation that he yearned for more, aspiring to master all forms of bukijutsu beyond the confines of his current kenjutsu proficiency. Determined to become a true master of weaponry, Akirei set out to seek the legendary sensei known for being a master of pole weapons, recommended by his very own mother.

Embarking on a journey to the east, Akirei left his young horse, Hakurei, under the care of his mother at home, as it was too young to be ridden. It took him a day or two to reach the destination. On his way to the eastern settlement, he actually passed through a dense forest. It didn’t pose too much challenge to him though, as he had the ability to fly and float.

However, there was a time he detected the presence of bear traps camouflaged within the underbrush. While he was able to fly over it with ease, not willing to see beautiful animals getting tortured by it, he swiftly crafted a bow and some arrows from his paper body. However, the process wasn’t as smooth as he thought. The first few shots failed to deactivate the traps, proving his lack of expertise on other weapons. It took his ten attempts before the shot hit the trap.

"Cock-a-doodle-do" The sharp noise made by the chicken forced the little boy to wake up in the early morning. "Huh? A rooster’s morning crow?" Back in Amegakure, there weren't any wild roosters around the village, so he was kind of caught off guard to hear it in the morning. Waking up from his bed, he carefully opened the curtain that dressed the window. "Hmm?" The sky was still dark. That made him wonder why the rooster was crowing. He always thought they were calling as the sun rose…

He didn’t delve into the meaningless question for too long. After some simple cleaning, he went to have his free breakfast in the main hall as instructed. The meal was surprisingly delicious, something that he didn’t expect to have on the mountain in the middle of nowhere. "He must have received a lots of donation..." That was the only logical explanation he could think of.

The elder man standing in front of him was lousy and rude, and it left Akirei wondered why would his mother even learned from this man. "And even recommend him to me…" He thought. But his question was quickly answered as the owner of the temple swung his golden spear on the armour-clad wooden dummy.

Again, it was what he witnessed yesterday. But this time it was even faster and better. Consecutive thrusts in just a second left the dummy naked as the iron armour was fully punctured and disarmed from the dummy.

"How did you do that?" Akirei couldn't resist and asked. Then he realised he shouldn't have done that. It was too rude to do that.

Noticing Akirei's hesitation and change of expression, the man told him not to worry. "It's okay. I'm not the strict kind of person." He then turned to the kid and explained, "Just thrust the spear quickly."

"... Huh!?" Akirei was stunned by the response. He was expecting the man to reveal some secret or mechanic of the technique. You know, like was it the way you handle the spear? Or was it supported by jutsu? Thrusting the spear quickly was the last thing he expected to hear.

"Yup. You heard me correctly. Just repeat it until you learn it." The sensei reasserted with serious demeanour, clearly showing he wasn't joking.

Despite his disbelief and disappointment, Akirei still followed the instructions. He gripped the spear and quickly launched his hand forward to replicate the same movement of his sensei. The result was of course a failure. He just doesn’t have the strength to launch and relaunch the spear at quick speed and succession.

After repeated failures, Akirei decided to try something else. He exerted some fuuton to fill in the incomplete equation that he couldn't solve. Now with enough force, he was able to replicate the move, but it was not perfect. Still, to him, it was better than nothing. "I did it…"

"No, you didn't." The man asserted with disappointment. He then pointed at the damaged dummy. "Look, your strikes were way too inaccurate, missing the targets by a great margin."

Just like what he mentioned, most of Akirei's strikes were missing from the vital spot. He then shook his head before saying, "That is what you get from using Fuuton to help you."

While the man didn’t explain the exact reason for the failure, Akirei roughly knew the issue. Materialised chakra burst was not something that can be controlled easily, especially the wind element. Air molecules were known to travel chaotically and randomly, and even with great chakra control, it wouldn't be possible to maintain perfect control over its movement all the time.
