CLAN TYPE: Narashi CLAN ORIGIN: Tsuchi no Kuni CLAN RESIDENCE: Iwagakure CLAN IDEOLOGY (Chiyu) Harm only when necessary While they are not above the use of violence, a Chiyu is unlikely to ever take a mission that involves killing or assassination. Their Clan take oaths not unlike the Hippocratic Oath, to do no undue harm to themselves or others, and to heal rather than hurt. Obviously, there are some gray areas considering their allegiance to Tsuchi no Kuni and its heavily militaristic ideology, but the protections they receive in return for their efforts is enough to keep them loyal. (Chiyu and Dokuzetsu) Protect your Family Under no circumstances should a member of the Clan harm another in any way. The use of poisons or torture as training tools are strictly forbidden. Torture is also, obviously, forbidden to the Chiyu. Self-inflicting poisons as a form of training is, notably, allowed but frowned upon. (Chiyu) Preserve Life Perhaps one of the more difficult tenets of the Clan to uphold, the preservation of life comes before all other duties. A Chiyu is expected to go out of their way to prevent unnecessary death, even to the point of saving the life of a known enemy. They are not expected to go further than that, but if they can stop someone they witness from suffering and/or dying, it is considered right and proper that they do so. (Dokuzetsu) Do not become the Poison  Largely surveilled and enforced by the Chiyu with the intention of preserving the Clan at Large's integrity, this is the source of much friction between the two families. Their true strength comes from both their natural intellect and the creativity that causes them to tinker, toy, and tamper with things that are already inherently dangerous. Put simply, a Dokuzetsu is almost certainly going to try to improve on something that the Chiyu strongly feel does not need to be made better. It is for this reason that they enforce surveillance and preventative measures on the Family of Poisoners, to prevent them from creating something that could endanger not only the Clan, but Iwagakure or the Land of Stone itself. (Dokuzetsu) The Talons of the Hawk Whereas the Chiyu have largely cast aside the violence of Shinobi life, the Dokuzetsu are the blades that remain sharp for the Tsuchikage to employ. Their study of poisons and masterful manipulation of the human body for warfare has kept them from being swept utterly aside by their kinsmen. CLAN HIERARCHY There are two major families within the Chiyu- the mainline Chiyu, who have wholly devoted themselves to medicine and medical Ninjutsu and have thusly eschewed most knowledge of poison from their skillset, other than how to reverse or counter its effects, and the Dokuzetsu. The latter are thus named because they chose to perpetuate the learning and use of poisons, citing that they were a necessary evil. Their numbers have dwindled as they are seen largely as outcasts by the Clan, nonetheless, they do play an important role in the Clan, since the Chiyu branch of the family has largely pushed aside their roots as poisoners. The Chiyu, then, are the main branch of the family who deal with politics in the village and provision for the well-being of both themselves and the Dokuzetsu, while the latter keep largely to themselves. The Dokuzetsu are in turn led by a first-among-equals, the highest ranking shinobi, who represents the interests of the family during disputes. CLAN HISTORY In the wildlands [Before -120 SD | 896] The Clan began in the days before the Village Hidden in Stone was created, a group of travelers that worked as mercenaries and gypsies, roaming performers and charlatans who spent their time honing their skill with horticulture and eventually sharpening their gift of healing in order to ingratiate themselves with the many warring Clans. They fought for other groups and did their best to remain a neutral entity, for their own safety and the longevity of their budding family unit. Very much a "chosen family," they would take in anyone who was willing to contribute, to help bring the group up, and to protect each other. During the formative years, their mastery of poultices, salves, herbs, and tools for healing started to spread to the mercenaries, who learned quickly through trial and error that too much of a good thing could become a bad thing. While the healers were largely able to curb the damage that the less skilled members of the group, the new information they had gained started a new trend. They began creating poisons that used the same tools that had previously been used for healing in order to wreak havoc on enemies. The more militant minded members of the family started to become overzealous, testing their poisons with little regard for the public health of the Clan, without a mind for self-preservation. This started to become problematic quickly, leading to pain and suffering that created bad blood that ultimately saw the family divided into two camps. The healers started to withdraw their support for the fighters, who, without their failsafe, started to die to their own innovations. Roaming in Exile [Years -86 to -3 SD | 928 to 1010] Two brothers, Shu and Dai, met after the conflict escalated to a point where they were at each others throats and began talks about the future of the Clan. Dai believed that the Chiyu should emphasis life at all costs, using their command of medicine and the healing arts to try to undo some of the damage done by constant war; while Shu argued that despite the methods of their predecessors becoming too obsessive and vulgar, the need for poisoners and their knowledge would still be important to the Ninja way of life. The argument was harsh and two sides formed, one in favor of Dai's unusual and frankly idealistic view of Ninjutsu, while the other joined Shu in his pragmatism. The majority of them took the name Chiyu as a badge of honor, while they branded the Poisoners with the surname Dokuzetsu, a constant reminder of their past. Onward to Iwagakure [Years -3 to +10 SD | 1010 to 1024] The Clan chose Tsuchi no Kuni because of its proclivity for militaristic action. They believed that the most good they could do was to help those displaced, wounded, or changed by the nation's warmongering rather than simply to settle as Ninja elsewhere. It was some time after the rise of Iwa that the Chiyu actually determined that joining the Tsuchikage and adding themselves to the cause was a worthwhile venture, but the peace and protection that joining afforded them was the answer to their troubles that the Clan needed. So finally, when they settled in Iwagakure, a system was implemented. The Chiyu family would form the head of the Clan, dealing with the Hidden Village on behalf of all of their relatives, and the Dokuzetsu would largely be left to their own devices, subject to monitoring and enforcement by the larger family. The Dokuzetsu have since become major, if smaller and lesser known players in organizations such as ANBU, and as assassins for the Daimyo, much to the chagrin of their brethren. Despite their checkered history and the struggle that went into bringing them to Iwagakure, the Chiyu clan has risen to prominence as the foremost healers of the Hidden Rock, bringing a much needed balance. CLAN ABILITIES (Chiyu) Medical Ninjutsu expertise Most if not all members of the Chiyu clan devote themselves tirelessly to the study of Medical Ninjutsu or to medicine in general. That vow led to their decision to cultivate generations of Shinobi adept at saving lives, rather than ending them. (Dokuzetsu) Poison usage expertise Their humble beginnings as masters of cultivation and experts in botany caused the family to learn how to deal with, handle, and utilize poisons in combat. Before proceeding to any actual review I will need Han opinion, as the current leader of Mizu no Kuni and OOC Head of Shouki clan. As both of those are mentioned.

At this current junction please remove mentions of Mizu no Kuni and Shouki as they are.

We had discussed there being a small separation from Shouki years before the Shouki became part of Kirigakure no Sato, at no point did you mention that this separation would be a clan that migrated to Iwagakure no Sato. I had agreed to it being a small family and frankly I had thought you were making a character that had a grudge towards the Shouki within Kirigakure not an entirely other clan that just took inspiration from Shouki - you failed to mention it would be a clan completely in our conversations which was misleading.

For obvious reasons the clan on its own is probably acceptable (given it is just Narashi and focuses on the medical which is innocuous), but being attached to Shouki and Mizu no Kuni - this I am not okay with.

I just thought the Shouki would be a cool plot pip frankly, they're not necessary and I've removed mention of them and of Mizu entirely, no harm done. (Though it would have been nice if when I asked for feedback, any had been given.)

-3 SD is 1011 year.

Iwagakure was founded in Year 927 (-87 SD), so you writing: "It was some time after the rise of Iwa that the Chiyu actually determined that joining the Tsuchikage and adding themselves to the cause was a worthwhile venture..." - sounds as if Iwa was founded just recently, which is not true.

This is a strong statement, which would make this a cannon event, as such I need the Tsuchikage's okay.

And I think you need to fix the History. As the current events stand the clan just recently joined Iwagakure and I doubt that they in such a short time established themselves within the village. Given that in 1016 there even was a Civil War in Iwagakure.

If they joined in before, then I would like a few words as to how they functioned during the World Wars. I would suggest you consult with the Tsuchikage if you have not done so.
