Amidst the training area, Eiji found a slice of the desert that reminded him of home. This barren stretch of training grounds, devoid of anything but sand, offered him a semblance of the vast deserts he had left behind. With the village's presence a mere backdrop, closing his eyes and feeling the sand's embrace allowed him a fleeting illusion of return. Despite his deep reservations, this place had become his home, not by choice but by the circumstances that had woven his fate with the Aeru branch of this foreign village. His ties to his birth family might have been severed, but adaptation was a path well-trod by his people, and Eiji would walk it with the same resilience. [break][break]

Oshi Shigeru, a genin of the Sand, had extended an offer to aid in the education of academy students like Eiji. Despite Eiji's reservations about those raised within the village's walls, the sense of solidarity among the Sand shinobi was unmistakable. It might not have mirrored the deep, interconnected bonds of his clan, yet any ignorance in understanding could be attributed to the inherent deficiencies of these village upbringings.[break][break]

Owing a debt of honour for Oshi's willingness to assist, Eiji prepared to meet the genin on the training grounds. His sandy blond hair, usually free, was now restrained in a manner that managed the wildness of his mullet. Clad in a simple, white shirt and trousers that longed for the wind's caress, Eiji chose to stand barefoot against the sand, embracing the tactile memory of home with every grain that slipped between his toes.
