HISTORY 988 (-26 SD) - 993 (-21 SD)
A daughter born of war veterans in a post-war time, great things were expected from Misako from day one. Her upbringing was militant and fortunate, as everything Misako would've required for stable growth was there. Prominent shinobi who represented Kusagakure with great fervor in multiple times of strife, the Sanada family consisted of her mother and father with no siblings, causing all of the aforementioned expectations to be hoisted upon Misako solely. Even as a young child she was shaped up to be a strict soldier, being taught martial arts exercises at a young age where most girls of the same age were playing with dolls or being told bedtime stories. It wasn't long until the time rolled around for Misako to join the Shinobi Academy, thoughts of following in her family's footsteps spurring her on rather than breaking her or causing any kind of mental scarring. After all, she loved her parents very much and the stories they told of their time during the wars were cool to her!
993 (-21 SD) to 999 (-15 SD)
To get to the level her parents had achieved, Misako was going to have to train. Train and, of course, educate herself. Misako was undoubtedly talented, given her genes and natural prowess, but this only appeared to extend toward her physical prowess and book smarts. When it came to utilizing the ninja arts that weren't Taijutsu, she found herself lacking. Striving to reach the level of her parents Misako found this to be quite the annoyance, which caused her at a young age to start to break away from the strict upbringing her life had been focused around. She exhibited a short temper and violent tendencies, so much so that her parents were informed on numerous occasions and she was reprimanded. As a victim of bullying Misako began to gain a reputation for defending those who suffered the same fates, usually physically and usually with problems attached. Still, despite this strife she was still able to pass through the Academy through some private tutoring and became a Genin at a fairly young age. Such was a statement toward Misako's newly born indomitable will and resolve.
999 (-15 SD) to 1004 (-10 SD)
Realizing that their daughter, meant to carry on their legacy, was lacking in the areas of Genjutsu and Ninjutsu the Sanada family opted for a two-pronged strategy. Misako's mother spent her time teaching Misako about the multiple ninja arts at a baseline level, given she was a Jack-of-All, while Misako's father, a Taijutsu specialist, trained her utilizing a variety of different techniques he had picked up over the years. The school Misako's great grandfather had started was a martial arts school that revolved around learning different techniques from different styles and incorporating them, holding no original techniques of their own. Due to this training Misako was able to witness and replicate the maneuvers performed by other Taijutsu practitioners, so long as said Taijutsu techniques didn't require any other aspects that Misako lacked. Misako also witnessed her father's first utilization of the Eight Gates system in front of her, though he claimed she was not old enough to begin to learn it. Misako turned her frustration into drive and on the first day she joined a team she became instant friends with her teammates and Sensei.
The anger that had welled up inside of her during her Academy days began to disappear as she found cooperation and acceptance within her team. Multiple missions, some degrading and others requiring the supervision of their sensei, were performed and despite Misako's shortcomings when it came to her utilization of jutsu that weren't Taijutsu her strategic mind coupled with her prowess in Taijutsu exceeding her teammates due to her sole focus caused her to start to develop a reputation more in line with that adhering to her heritage. It wasn't long before Misako started preparing for the Chuunin Exams to rear their heads. As expected Misako fared exceptionally well in the written test and didn't exhibit too many problems, but still stumbled here and there, with the other tests leading up to the inevitable tournament. The tournament, of all things, Misako was ready for and burst her way through violently.
...Violently. An interesting word. A part of Misako's soul was discovered during the Chuunin Exam's tournament portion, a part that had caused her to wail on her opponents even after they were defeated. At times she had to be restrained, and she begun to fear this part of herself. What was lurking deep in the shadows that pushed her to act in such a violent manner? She refused to admit it but, truthfully, she enjoyed the violence. She held a degree of sadism inside of her that just made certain actions, such as the reveal of the opponent's blood or feeling their bones crack underneath her fists and feet, send her to absolute bliss. But this wasn't something she was ready to acknowledge about herself. Because of that, she began to pull her punches. Her strikes carried less weight, although her power allowed her to progress into being a Chuunin despite not making it to the final match.
1004 (-10 SD) - 1009 (-5 SD)
Now a Chuunin Misako was deemed old and durable enough by her father to begin to learn the Eight Gates. This decision also came at a time in which Misako lost her mother to disease, stunting her growth as a woman yet causing her to have a much stronger attachment to her father. He had mellowed out over the years and was less militant, especially now that the only woman he had in his life was his daughter. Unlocking the Gates didn't take too much effort on Misako's part due to her innate understanding of what she was taught, though she did unfortunately burn herself out pretty aggressively and regularly.
