[Akimichi Chono]

Immediately after the high pitched sound of the light bomb detonating Chono was prepared to move into his attack, but before he could he suddenly found himself wreathed in flames. The Nibi had successfully wrapped it's arms around his torso, even pinning his left arm to his side as it had been kept lower with the kunai for his planned attack. And even the beast's twin tails had found purchase on his forearms.

Thankfully the majority of the beast's point of contact were with his armor rather than flesh, but the bicep of his left arm was exposed and currently pinned between the Nibi's arm and his own body. The pain was extreme, he could feel, hear and smell the flesh sizzling simultaneously, but as bad as that sounded he knew in the back of his mind that it was good to feel the pain. Burns were at their worst when you couldn't feel it anymore.

He had definitely underestimated the beast's speed, but thankfully it seemed she was underestimating him as well. With a low roar partially from the pain and partially to show his opponent he wasn't just going to go down from a burning hug the titan would spini the blades in either hand. The kunai would be used to attempt to shank the body that was pressed so close to his while the sword would shrink slightly so as to line up with the beasts back and extent once more. If it managed to find purchase in what could be referred to as the bijuu's 'flesh' then he would proceed to use the jackhammer strike technique on his sword rather than his own body to repeatedly stab the creature.

It had been a snap decision, but after seeing the bijuu's speed he had decided that his best chance to deal heavy damage was now while the girl was trying to grapple him. He would likely take serious damage to his left arm in the process, but he hoped that he could outpace the damage she dealt with his own.

The manner in which the user utilizes this technique is when striking an opponent, they will quickly shrink, then re-expand that limb effectively hitting the target(s) again. More oftenly the user will do this at a rapid pace, effectively striking their target(s) dozens of times with extreme force while giving them little to no time to recover from the previous hit. This technique is most devastatingly used in conjunction with the Human Meteor technique, as it effectively allows the user to "dribble" their selves on top of the target(s).

A FIRE INSIDE Blazing a bright blue and christening great power upon it's Kunoichi At this point the woman's quick thinking had done her no good, as she'd jumped to hug the man she'd somehow missed a detail. Her mind remembered him with a cloak, but as her paws meet nothing she'd hear Matabi growl. "What're you doing?" To which Etsuko would immediately realize the answer was nothing useful. She'd hoped to put the man in a state of panic, as his whole body would be surrounded by flames. The kindling on the man was gone though and hadn't been on him since the start of the fight, she'd not have much of a plan at that point. However she'd jumped in without a plan, so all she had to do now was improvise? Her paws pulling back to move between her and the man's armor, he'd received a good enough hug for another attack. Her thoughts weren't quite as quick as his, but he had quite the fire under him to react. His weapon would down size and he'd attempt to change where it pointed. He'd be attempting to make it stab her, she didn't know he could quickly increase and decrease the items size. Though that didn't stop the intent from being clear, she didn't need to see it either. Her tails had moved without opposition to the man's arms, so she could feel his movements through her tails. She'd swung swords with these tails of hers, so she'd have a certain sense of feel and control to them. That control she'd try furiously to resist the man's attempts to readjust his weapon. There wasn't a planned attack for her and she already failed her first attempt at success. Things needed to be less embarrassing, but instead they'd simply get more. Panicking she'd use her tails to support her body enough to bring all four feet to the man's gut, she'd use his armor as a base board and kick off with all her force. It wasn't a move done to effect the man, but one purely with escape in mind. Her tails releasing his arms, as she'd commit to the jump backwards. Her mind envisioned a perfect back flip followed by attempting to circle the man. Her body wasn't human though and she'd fail entirely to accomplish a back flip, instead her large weight would bring her near head first into the sand. Her tails swirling in confusion, as she'd spin over herself. Thanking so much the ground she crashed into was sand and not like solid rock. She wanted to believe in Matabi's form she was more capable of taking hits. Her body more malleable and able to change in it's state of pure chakra, but having to feel and exist in the state made those feelings quickly vanish. This is in terms of mere speed as well as reflexes and as such it imparts these abilities to its host. Lastly it should be noted that these abilities only get more potent as a Jinchuuriki goes from their normal human state, through the chakra shroud states and to the full bijuu form. Speed is the trait Etsuko takes most from Matabi. Cloak of Flame~! #2 While in chakra shroud or full bijuu states, the Nibi is capable of producing a cloak of fire surrounding their body. These flames burn with a great intensity and more importantly are unable to be put out with water. In fact, upon the introduction of water the flames only burn hotter and spread more easily. The only way to put out these flames is through the use of fuuinjutsu or by smothering them with enough earth. Matabi's fire can be expelled from her mouth like a projectile, in her bijuu form the heat of the flame and the lack of hand signs needed to cast her techniques make them almost on an S-rank katon's scale. Thanks to cloak of flame Etsuko gains a major advantage on those of her element. Beast Claws~! #3 One of the more simply, but deadly techniques at the Nibi's disposal is the razor sharp claws it has. Even while the Jinchuuriki is in their normal human form, they are capable of growing claws on their hands which are capable of slashing through most materials with ease. Upon going into a chakra shroud state or full bijuu mode, these claws become capable of cutting through all, but the strongest of defensive techniques. An ability that Etsuko doesn't see quite as advantageous, but perfect for situations you might forget to have brought a weapon to. Full Release Etsuko: An illusion of full control, Matabi is capable of giving Etsuko, almost all of her chakra reserving only enough to exist still in the cell. Matabi would only do this in an extreme situation with possibly a sage or other summoner who had beasts beyond a ninja's handling. Upon giving Etsuko the chakra Etsuko only has the briefest of time to react, as she's not quite fused with her Bijuu it's much easier for her to waste all of her chakra in this form. When entering this form the area is blasted with a puff of smoke, in the smokes wake the Nibi will appear to have been summoned. However the flames of Nibi will be more on edge, it's facial expression will be much more innocent, as any scowl will be replaced with an expression of complete confusion. Matabi however won't be in control it'll be Etsuko's mind set and words spoken when the Nibi talked. Matabi able to coach Etsuko via the immense chakra, but Etsuko isn't capable of most of the Matabi's feats. Instead Etsuko will typically use her tails to fight and if possible find a large enough object to mimic a sword and fight with it instead of teeth and claws. Matabi is discouraged by Etsuko's usage of her body, but Etsuko's control over Matabi's abilities have always been limited. The large advantage of being in this form, is not only our there two consciousnesses, but the seal on Etsuko remains and only enlarges preventing the use of other sealing techniques on the Tailed Beast form. [Akimichi Chono]

As Chono moved to get his licks in, his opponent decided to opt for a quick retreat. With his arms suddenly receiving more weight Chono had a rough idea of what cat and host had planned Chono refused to give her breathing room. As the cat sailed through the air, botching her landing Chono would throw the enlarged kunai at the same time his legs tensed for a heartbeat and he began moving at his top spriting speed in an instant, the titantic legs covering the distance easily.

With his blade held in one hand he made a heavy diagnol swing with his chakra still coursing through the metal, the blade aimed high in an attempt to keep the Nibi low to the ground while his recently freed left hand dipped back into his building sized tool pouch and grabbed a second flash bomb out letting its withdrawal from the pouch obviously seen. His plan at the moment was to chuck the flash bang up and behind him and hoping the Nibi would close her eyes to avoid the blinding light, use that instant to drop low to the ground and using the momentum from the earlier high swing bring his leg around with a spinning kick. The idea being to keep her low to the ground and connect his greaved shin with the beast's face.

A FIRE INSIDE Blazing a bright blue and christening great power upon it's Kunoichi Strategy was missed at this point, as it was incredibly difficult for the jounin to maneuver her present form. Matabi had very little normally in common with the copper eyed jounin. There physical forms simply hadn't synced and things like her back flip suffered. There wasn't time to figure out the body she just needed to use it, her reflexes were as on point as they could've been. Her eyes widening at the sudden kunai, she'd pop up and with one back paw swipe away the kunai. There'd be a wide eyed, head drawn back reaction to the giant man's quick approach. He'd continue to impress her with the feats he managed as a shinobi, but where did he find this power and how? Perplexed there weren't enough options running through her mind. Reaction seemed to of been working, at least she believed she was 'winning'. Absolutely out sized she tried to pretend her every minor success totally outweighed her major mistakes. He'd prepare another flash bomb, it'd be a scripted move. Had it been the move he'd been intending, but instead he'd thought a step ahead of her. She wasn't playing odds only instincts, so what seemed wise once would be wise twice she hoped. Her body kept low by his chakra blade, as she'd even dip her tails to avoid it's hit. She wasn't sure the reaction her body would have to such an attack. She knew it to cut stone and all, but Matabi was a giant of pure chakra. So what chances did it really have? None she'd want to take. Eyes closed and body low, she'd be struck by the man's kick. Her body flinging off towards the dunes, she didn't expect a swift spinning kick from such a large man. She didn't expect swift anything from him, but now she'd been proven wrong on multiple occasions. She needed to up her own speed game, her mind sinking into the situation as her body flung over mulitple dunes of sand. She couldn't afford to have the man right at her back, so stretching out her legs she'd open her eyes to brace for landing. Her head wasn't pointing in the direction of the man, so she'd likely be unaffected by the detonation of his flash bomb. It was somehow still a concern in her mind. Escaping the next move was her plan, so with all her strength she'd pull herself forward in landing. Scurrying across the sand she'd hit the earth in a storm of sand from her large collision. Though she'd kick up even more in her mad dash, as she'd pivot around to look back towards the man. Catching her breath it'd seem she'd realize her edge was still sharp. She'd not gauged her full sprint yet, but she'd vastly overestimated the speed lose. She could no longer flicker step around him, but based on his speed... She'd spread her paws out from each other, as she'd lower her stance looking to the now much more distant man. As Chono's leg whipped around with a kick it thankfully seemed his attempt to misdirect his opponent had paid off at least. Even as the Nibi tumbled away towards some dunes and the blinding light detonated behind him, Chono knew that it might be too little too late. Every minute he spent fighting the Nibi the host would be getting more used to fighting someone his size and if the girl was any good she would start seeing the holes in his capabilities. As much as Chono wanted to keep pushing the fight he knew the only way he would win this was with a heavy and decisive blow. Shifting his left arm Chono did his best to mentally gauge the severity of the damage from the burns received earlier from the bijuu's fiery embrace. While it hurt like hell he could still move everything enough, but he would need to have a medic look at it after the fight for sure.

Moving the wounded arm, the hand disappeared back into his pouch in the small of his back, quickly drawing and dropping a smoke grenade while his right hand quickly sheathed his blade in its scabbard. As the bijuu seemed to catch her breath him in a mad dash the smoke grenade would go off obscuring his form, but not covering too far beyond it. They were more so meant to cover a larger area when he was just in multi-size, but obscuring his body and the area around it would hopefully prove enough of a sight impediment to hide the chakra that glowed visibly in his hands shortly after the smoke appeared. If it was a deciding blow he needed he'd for go the blade and put his bet on his strength and his opponent's lack of experience fighting someone like him. Waiting in the smoke he would listen and watch for the illumination of the beast's flames, hoping to find an opportunity to give the girl a slap she would remember for decades to come.

After the chakra builds to the point of being visible to the naked eye the hand has become stronger than carbon making it nearly undamageable. As the user pushes their hand(s) forward in an open hand slap against the target(s) the user's muscles will be further increased for a tiny burst by chakra. All of this leads to a devastating crushing attack that is capable of burying the user's hands into the ground in multi-size and crushing small mountains in super multi-size, leaving little hope for the target(s) to survive a direct hit.

Chono had this large formed mastered, but Etsuko's was ultimately more natural. She didn't understand Matabi's body, but everything about her body was normal. No stretching of her reserves and nothing that seemed special had a technique too it. Her size was that of all bijuu massive, her flames was a natural trait that few could handle. The shear size of her opponent made this fire less a threat, she couldn't consume in these flames. However where he had the skill and techniques, she'd have one overbearing advantage. Matabi. The fastest of Bijuu after being routed would realize her advantages, then under the driven will of Etsuko turn to repeat battle. She'd be on her way back to him when he'd use his smoke bomb. An immediate flash back to her last fight and she'd find herself overly annoyed. Another coward afraid to test skill and abuse some trick she knew little about. "I have an ability known as the bijuu-dama, it's a concentrated and fired projectile of destructive chakra. Unless he's shrunk then you should hit him firing it blindly into the smoke." Matabi would hiss within her own thoughts. 'I haven't even figured out your claws, so there's no way I'm pulling of this Bijuu-dama thing.' Etsuko would reply to her Bijuu, but this time she'd do so through thought. It seemed like the appropriate way to respond and thankfully it had been, but Matabi could only scuff to herself in annoyance. Of course Etsuko couldn't perform a technique she'd never tried, but that didn't change the fact Etsuko hadn't a clear attack to this cloud. No. She had exactly the strategy needed to not be taken by this cowardice tactic of hiding. Focusing upon her footing and looking towards the massive cloud of smoke, the jounin would diverge near the edge of this massive sight blocker. Full sprinting the jounin would trace around the outside of the smoke cloud. Using what feeling she had in her paws, she'd feel out where there were more rocks. Passing them she'd then use her tail to flick the rocks into the cloud of smoke. They'd lack much in the form of aim, but being coming in from seemingly every direction. Etsuko would do laps around the man and as rocks ran out she'd just kick up sand instead. Her heat turning some of it into glass, as the projectiles came in they'd all be on fire. [Akimichi Chono]

Within a short time after his smoke bombs popped off, the area around his massive form becoming concealed by the thick smoke cloud; a hail of rocks and partially melted sand would come slinging in. Chono did his best to cover his face with his forearms, but otherwise did little to avoid the makeshift projectiles.

While his armor certainly helped, those that struck his arms and legs left their fair amount of burns, cuts and relative to him tiny glass shards embedded in his skin. To some spectators, it may have appeared as though Chono had simply decided to hide in the smoke and given up, but such was not the case. While the attacks were indeed slowly whittling away at his well being, he was hoping that his lack of counter attack would lure his opponent into a false sense of security; perhaps believing that her speed had finally put him in a helpless state of defense.

After these key moments of just tanking the projectiles was the perfect time to strike. Judging from the fact he was being struck from every side it was highly likely she was running a circuit around him unless she had somehow managed to summons clones in that state which he very much doubted. And running a circuit at such high speeds played perfectly into his next attack as it meant there was very little need to aim. Add the knowledge of where the host was moving through with the lowered visibility and the arrogance she had shown at the start of the fight and perhaps it would be enough to make up his lack of speed by using the Nibi's own speed against his opponent.

In a show of decisive acceleration Chono move forward extending out his right arm as he did so. His hope was that the bijuu running in a circle around him at rapid speed in the lowered visibility of both his smoke and the debris she was kicking up would run smack dab into his chakra reinforced hand that was swinging counter the direction she was running. Hopefully the initial blow would deal a fair amount of damage between his strength as well as the speed and mass of the bijuu's momentum meeting in what was effectively a slap-clothesline. Chono was hoping that the chakra would hopefully protect him against the Nibi's flames for long enough to grab hold after the initial contact with the beast and host. If he managed to get a hold of the beast at all the titan would immediately use his left hand which was also fortified with chakra to hopefully give a second powerful open hand slap to the creature's head. And if he managed to connect with that slap at all he planned to move into a jackhammer strike.

That being said though the plan was not perfect. It sadly had quite a few variables that Chono simply could not truly account for. The host's reaction speed, her current attitude towards the fight and him, how much damage the host's current form could take as well as how much the thick chakra coating on his hands could truly protect from a jinchuuriki's flames. All in all it was certainly a risky plan, but given the difference in his speed and the beast's, he really had few other options since he also could not afford to let the fight drag on indefinitely.

All of this leads to a devastating crushing attack that is capable of burying the user's hands into the ground in multi-size and crushing small mountains in super multi-size, leaving little hope for the target(s) to survive a direct hit.

This technique makes use of the Akimichi's ability to expand and shrink their body at high speeds. The manner in which the user utilizes this technique is when striking an opponent, they will quickly shrink, then re-expand that limb effectively hitting the target(s) again. More oftenly the user will do this at a rapid pace, effectively striking their target(s) dozens of times with extreme force while giving them little to no time to recover from the previous hit. This technique is most devastatingly used in conjunction with the Human Meteor technique, as it effectively allows the user to "dribble" their selves on top of the target(s).

A FIRE INSIDE Blazing a bright blue and christening great power upon it's Kunoichi A fight between the elite was likely quite the sight, but these two had taken the fight further than anyone else could. This was a true battle of titans and even Etsuko was the smaller she'd proven her speed. Circling her prey and attacking with the very earth underneath her, Etsuko had a certain feeling of dominating the fight. She didn't know what the massive man planned to do with his smoke bomb, but she'd continue to stick at it's outskirt and flicking debris in. An attack she couldn't gauge it's success, but jumping into the smoke itself seemed to be a mistake. It'd definitely been the case last one of these battles, Etsuko definitely didn't have the means to feel true confidence. Not knowing her opponent kept her physically on guard, especially as she'd be maneuvering a body she'd not been akin too. Her comfort in the flaming frame was increasing with each pass, but it didn't destroy the girls focus with overconfidence. Her belief in herself was still actually quite low, but that was without knowing the man's next attack. An attack she'd actually find quite amusing, as he'd either lead with a diversion or actually believed this attack to hit her. It wasn't a terrible attack, but it relied on Etsuko being unable to react. Reacting though was something she'd honed quite well, especially at high speeds. Matabi might of been the fastest Bijuu, but scaled Etsuko's style was much faster. She was used to fighting multiple targets at speeds the sharingan would likely fail to follow. A grin slipping the cats expression as the hand suddenly emerged. The smoke cloud made it impossible to know the man's position, but his hand would be the only tell tale the jounin needed. Leaping at the hands appearance Etsuko wouldn't aim to just dodge the hand, but instead the jounin would use this new knowledge to strike. If she didn't he might go back to hiding after all. She couldn't let the 'judges' decide her fate, she'd pull victory from the ashes of defeat. Her leap would be a powerful pounce attempting to utilize the more rabbit like hind legs of her host, as she'd practically missile herself for the Akimichi. Her goal was a very quick and powerful headbutt to the man's head. She'd thrust out her front paws in reaction to where-ever she'd hit, her body pushing off the Akimichi and hopefully driving him butt first to the ground. Flinging herself a good distance back to be well out of the smoke cloud again. It'd likely start clearing without her adding to the cloud or spinning it to keep in place. "Surrender Konoha-nin! If we keep pushing this I'll have to use my Bijuu-dama!" Etsuko would loudly announce as she'd done all her other tournament fights, but there was a huge difference between this claim and her past ones. She'd fully meant her past words and knew she could back them without fail, but this fight she wasn't at all certain of anything. The strategy seemed to be working to stick to natural talents and not her own jutsu, but she wasn't able to make or land the blows to quickly end this fight. Maybe a bluff could do just that, but it relied on this man knowing of the bijuu-dama. He was old enough to have hopefully dealt with one, but Etsuko didn't even know what the technique was or looked like. A technique that pretty much lets them move around the field like their every step is shunshin. I feel an attack for her front would need more speed to surprise and deny her reaction time. The only way to put out these flames is through the use of fuuinjutsu or by smothering them with enough earth. Matabi's fire can be expelled from her mouth like a projectile, in her bijuu form the heat of the flame and the lack of hand signs needed to cast her techniques make them almost on an S-rank katon's scale. Thanks to cloak of flame Etsuko gains a major advantage on those of her element. Beast Claws~! #3 One of the more simply, but deadly techniques at the Nibi's disposal is the razor sharp claws it has. Even while the Jinchuuriki is in their normal human form, they are capable of growing claws on their hands which are capable of slashing through most materials with ease. Upon going into a chakra shroud state or full bijuu mode, these claws become capable of cutting through all, but the strongest of defensive techniques. An ability that Etsuko doesn't see quite as advantageous, but perfect for situations you might forget to have brought a weapon to. While his attack almost comically failed to connect, the titan likely looking as if he was swatting at a house fly that was simply to fast and nimble to be hit in such a way, he did at least manage to avoid the flaming headbutt by tweaking the multi-size for his head and neck like would be done during the human bullet tank technique.

Yet again his opponent would push off of his body and move well out of his striking range. While he had managed to try and lessen the distance the first time he had been too preoccupied trying to keep his head protected to pull off ruining her jump back again. Staring at his opponent he began to evaluate his options once more while silently stepping back into the smoke.

She seemed to be much more cautious now, see as she kept retreating immediately after any attack. Her speed also made it difficult, near impossible even to truly hit her with any of his strong techniques, especially when she seemed determined to stay out of melee range or at the very least not stay in it for very long.

It was at that point that he heard his opponent's threat. Chono was indeed old enough to have witnessed a bijuu dama, but more than that he was also part of the Shinobi Council so he was privy to most of the information on Konoha's bijuu, including many of the techniques host's typically learned. However, while the idea of going toe to toe with a full powered shot was concerning the fact that the tournament had restricted the usage of S rank techniques helped to keep him from going any further than concerned.

The question was, would a lesser version of the Bijuu Dama be feasible for his opponent to use. It certainly could do signifigant damage, but the fact that she asked him to surrender suggested the threat was not something she wanted to necessarily go through with.

The fact she was making a threat like that, Chono considered it for a heartbeat or two, but in the end could only come to a single conclusion. She was not sure of the fight's outcome so she was trying to get him to surrender. If she could evade all his attacks and refused to stay in melee range perhaps he had been looking at this fight wrong the entire time. Maybe he really did need to just outlast her. . . at least outlast the fight's clock. If she felt more pressed to end the fight then perhaps she might make a mistake that gave him an opportunity to hit; whether that opportunity be from standing still to use the bijuu dama or from closing the distance to try and deal more damage.

With a brief sigh Chono rendered a few handseals in his enlarged form, making use of a technique that had specifically been trained to be used with his enlarged form. In an instant his hair atop his head, as well as from his beard would grow and weave itself around his body, small tufts of hair pressing out into large spikes while the majority covered his body. Even as this happened his arms, legs and head would disappear into the ball of hair to become rather spherical. Just before his head vanished into the ball his voice would ring out in response to his opponent.

"Come at me however you wish, but I will never surrender."

And with those words Chono waited within the smoke for an opportunity to attack. Worse came to worst his now multiple layers of armor would serve to help him endure any resumed range attacks, but if she charged at him for strike and run attack again she might get injured on the spikes, especially if she tried to use his body as a means of pushing off for a jump again. And in the worse case that she used the bijuu dama he could either try to extend his hair to make it detonate prematurely or could alter his size in an attempt to dodge it.

Often times, the user will surround his or herself with the hair as a spike-covered mound so dense that weapons break upon striking it. If the user wishes, the hair can reach outward with its spines, aiming to thoroughly pierce and maim opponents with its stone-splitting spikes.

Additionally a user may utilize the Needle Jizo technique to grow their hair out and form those into spikes, which also allows this technique to then be utilized in conjunction with super multi-size.

Etsuko would retort in a quick taunt to the man's words, she'd found herself in a fickle position. She could attempt to circle the man again, it didn't seem to not work the first time she did it. Her counter to his counter didn't land strong, but that didn't mean her next wouldn't land better. There however was a desperate state of uncertainty, as he might of stepped back into the smoke to trigger her repeated tactic. A fight like this had a lot of factors to question, but it also had very little time to question it. The drive of the man was unclear to the Jinchuuriki, so convincing him to surrender would likely be one a million. 'What's with all these smoke screen cowards?' Etsuko would think to Matabi in detest, as she'd question the man's tactic aloud. "Can you even see out of that cloud?!" Etsuko would almost demand, as she'd find it painfully clear no one would fight her head on. She'd however had taken to running, so she almost felt sick trying to call him a coward aloud. After the first tournament this was likely seen as the winning strategy, as it'd needlessly draw out time or force one into a trap. "You ready to learn the Bijuu-Dama? Kehehe?" Matabi would reply in Etsuko's mind, as it'd cause the cats face to bare more rage. There was a clear dilemma, but not a clear solution. She could attempt one of her wind techniques, but as a giant flaming cat they'd logically fail. Her attempt long ago to clone failed and merely wasted all she was given, but using no jutsu wasn't getting her far. At least she didn't feel herself gaining a sick advantage upon this man. She couldn't enter the smoke, but she also simply give up. Her earlier strategy at least presented an opening. She simply had to act differently upon it and expect the man to act differently upon her attack. Shooting off at the smoke cloud Etsuko would diverge from it early. Swooping in at the clouds side, she'd race around the cloud. Attempting to move even faster than before, instead of focusing on sending projectiles inwards. She'd still slap at the sand and rock with her tail, but she'd try to use each tail sway to propel her body forward at the same time. She doubted any cyclone could be made without a jutsu, but at her speed and with her mass she'd hopefully at least get the weightless smoke to spiral inwards. Narrowing the man's cover, at least that was her hope. 'No, he has to be reaching it.' Etsuko would think responsively to Matabi, as she'd have a slight delay and lack of context due to her focus. The battle came first at this point, but the battle was only accessible through Matabi. Keeping her respect and acceptance was quite important to the jounin now. "Reaching What?" Matabi would scuff in confusion, as she'd be less focused on the fight and more on Etsuko's reaction to it. 'His limits. Everything he's doing must be performed through feats of chakra, each taxing likely based on both the technique and size it's performed. There's no way this battle isn't taxing him more than us, we just need to bait a bigger attack.' Etsuko would theorize her victory, she'd give herself the needed confidence to go for a half baked plan. As what she'd do next entirely relied on his reaction to her sprint around his smoke shrine. God damn.

It was the first thought to come to mind when the torrent of rocks and partially glassed sand began to pelt the hardened hair shell encasing his body to little effect. While he had geared his training towards destruction on a large scale and to battle bijuu, the nibi was truly proving to be the worst opponent he could have been matched against. Typically with his enemies he either would be able to negate any speed by just dishing out massive attacks across the entirety of an area or overwhelm an opponent in strength due to his enlarged size.

The nibi was the worst of both worlds, being large enough to take some of his hits, but still managing to outpace his speed to the point it was not even close. So far it seemed the only advantage he had was that he was more comfortable with his larger size and more experienced in its usage, but that advantage was lessening every moment that went by.

At the moment he was still burning chakra to maintain his enlarged form as well as the hardened hair shell he had covering him. While he felt he would be able to hold it for a good while with just his typical reserves, he sincerely yearned for his calorie pills and calorie control technique. It would make the fight much more easy on him if he could make use of high rank techniques with much less regard for chakra conservation.

Within the darkness of his hardened hair, Chono listened carefully and did his best to use all his senses to keep track of his opponent as all Akimichi were taught to do when making use of their bullet tank techniques. She was circling him still, a bit faster than she was before not that the difference in speed mattered much when she had been able to react so quickly to his counterattack before.

As he listened his body shifted and changed size enough for his arms to maneuver within the hair sphere, the pair of them quickly finding his multi-sized wire and six multi-sized kunai. It was a simple and desperate plan, but one with some amount of merit. For the moment he would tank the damage with his hardened exterior and when a moment presented itself he would need to push the attack. His only hope was to either land a counter strike or to somehow prevent her from moving so he could land a solid blow. In the end it seemed, at least to Chono that this fight would end up being decided by how his opponent handled him.

Sorry Miho, must be disappointing to see me turtling up like this.

He could not help, but have the thought cross his mind when the Nibi's host cried out about his ability to see out of the smoke. Likely she was upset about another opponent using such a simple measure against her. That being said, if it was up to Chono he would have happily slugged it out with her and done so confidently.

A FIRE INSIDE Blazing a bright blue and christening great power upon it's Kunoichi What'd she need to adjust? What needed to change for her to have the advantage? Nothing. She'd decide victory with this strategy, it'd been lacking in results earlier. However lack of a presented counter meant it was for better or worst working, she'd force him to keep his size and disguise mostly. Her attacks either injuring him or at least keeping him at bay, her pattern and thus speed only increasing. She was really starting to feel the legs and thus stride of Matatabi's form. Waiting was something that for a time benefited the man, but the smoke cloud wasn't going to last forever. His cover before dissipating would be carried into a spiral of the Bijuu's circling presence. Both her size and form causing the very wind to stir with her movement, it'd not need to do too much a mere tear into the smoke. Etsuko would spot the bright color of the man's hair, her battle awareness keen enough to note even the momentary blur of orange. She had the exact same jutsu the man had, at least the hair extending steel cover technique. It was a question she long had, how powerful exactly was her hair with that jutsu. A slight grin across her cheek, as she'd whip around the man. It was then she'd decide to attempt her first attack, if he was unaffected by her shrapnel attacks. She'd merely need to strike him full force, so she'd in a sudden tail whip crack the man with a vicious strike. Her tail would slash like a well thrown whip, it was an action the jounin had perfected with her cloaked form. Her body contorted to not really have the best human posture, but she had a recollection of using her tails. That in mind and her primary weapon having a whip like nature, it'd be rather easy act to whip the man with her fiery tail. Worst cast he'd attempt bind the incredibly quick attack, best case scenario his hair would catch fire. The tail would carry more weight than the shrapnel, it'd have the fierce flame of Matatabi enchanting it, as well as be made of her dense violent chakra. It however had absolutely no technique to buff it, as Etsuko would merely do a cat like tail slash at the balled man. She'd continue rushing circles around the man if he didn't react or wasn't effected by the attack. Her attack being repeated now randomly as if to torment and bait the man at attacking. Maybe repetitive strikes could accomplish what a whip couldn't. If he would grapple her tail, then maybe the steel resistance would wither to the relentless fury of Etsuko's blue flame. He'd just act like a turtle as the clock ticked, he couldn't win the fight in such a position. However based on the last tournament, she didn't have the confidence in that. Instead she had the overwhelming feeling of impeding defeat. 'I need an attack to beat him.' She'd think to Matatabi secretly hoping to be given the explanation on how to use that attack mentioned earlier. Though if she screwed it up that could be the man's opening too, a fact that was more clear to Matatabi than Etsuko. Unable to watch her host be so frustrated in her form, she'd decide to speak up in this situation. 'Etsuko, we're wasting energy and giving too much away. This tournament is meaningless, I know deep down you know it.' Matatabi would snarl to Etsuko in her own head, as they'd continue doing laps around the man and strike him again and again. Likely leaving the man with burns or at least dire sweat from the multiple strikes. Granted him just being close to the Bijuu's body was probably annoying enough on it's own. Hair barrier or not, but he didn't surrender and now Etsuko was left thinking and stressing. 'H-How am I supposed to impress you if I can't even beat this shinobi in your body though?' Etsuko would think to Matatabi an intensity in her thoughts. She clearly cared deeply about proving herself to Matatabi, a thing Matatabi had picked up on in the past. Tried to use against the woman, but now felt almost guilty about. She'd been rather prudish towards the girl who'd had as little choice as her in the situation. 'This event does nothing to impress me. What'd impress me more is if you put me above such a meaningless challenge of pride.' Matatabi would reply to try and get Etsuko on the same page as her. 'What do you mean Matatabi? I won't give up to you.' Etsuko would state stubbornly, as she'd heard similar long before from this beast. An offer to give up her life so Matatabi can be free for her own. It seemed like a decent way to go, but Etsuko didn't want to go. What was the point in freeing this individual, if she didn't get to see the result of such freedom? 'Don't surrender to me, surrender to this giant ball of a shinobi. If you do that, then I'll be more clear with you, I'll even teach you my Bijuu-dama technique.' Matatabi would offer and with it there'd be a silence. Etsuko would suddenly stop her circling, her body turning to the giant spiked fur-ball. She'd raise her massive paw almost in a stance that looked ready to strike the man. "I give up, there's nothing to gain fighting cowards." The giant burning cat would announce in Etsuko's voice, before her form began to shrink. The giant fire cat diminishing to the normal cloak, then completely retreating back into the Nibi host's body. SPOILER: Click to show BIJUU ABILITIES Fastest Bijuu~! #1 While some people don't realize it, the Nibi is the fastest of all the Bijuu. This is in terms of mere speed as well as reflexes and as such it imparts these abilities to its host. Lastly it should be noted that these abilities only get more potent as a Jinchuuriki goes from their normal human state, through the chakra shroud states and to the full bijuu form. Speed is the trait Etsuko takes most from Matabi. Cloak of Flame~! #2 While in chakra shroud or full bijuu states, the Nibi is capable of producing a cloak of fire surrounding their body. These flames burn with a great intensity and more importantly are unable to be put out with water. In fact, upon the introduction of water the flames only burn hotter and spread more easily. The only way to put out these flames is through the use of fuuinjutsu or by smothering them with enough earth. Matabi's fire can be expelled from her mouth like a projectile, in her bijuu form the heat of the flame and the lack of hand signs needed to cast her techniques make them almost on an S-rank katon's scale. Thanks to cloak of flame Etsuko gains a major advantage on those of her element. Beast Claws~! #3 One of the more simply, but deadly techniques at the Nibi's disposal is the razor sharp claws it has. Even while the Jinchuuriki is in their normal human form, they are capable of growing claws on their hands which are capable of slashing through most materials with ease. Upon going into a chakra shroud state or full bijuu mode, these claws become capable of cutting through all, but the strongest of defensive techniques. An ability that Etsuko doesn't see quite as advantageous, but perfect for situations you might forget to have brought a weapon to. Full Release Etsuko: An illusion of full control, Matabi is capable of giving Etsuko, almost all of her chakra reserving only enough to exist still in the cell. Matabi would only do this in an extreme situation with possibly a sage or other summoner who had beasts beyond a ninja's handling. Upon giving Etsuko the chakra Etsuko only has the briefest of time to react, as she's not quite fused with her Bijuu it's much easier for her to waste all of her chakra in this form. When entering this form the area is blasted with a puff of smoke, in the smokes wake the Nibi will appear to have been summoned. However the flames of Nibi will be more on edge, it's facial expression will be much more innocent, as any scowl will be replaced with an expression of complete confusion. Matabi however won't be in control it'll be Etsuko's mind set and words spoken when the Nibi talked. Matabi able to coach Etsuko via the immense chakra, but Etsuko isn't capable of most of the Matabi's feats. Instead Etsuko will typically use her tails to fight and if possible find a large enough object to mimic a sword and fight with it instead of teeth and claws. Matabi is discouraged by Etsuko's usage of her body, but Etsuko's control over Matabi's abilities have always been limited. The large advantage of being in this form, is not only our there two consciousnesses, but the seal on Etsuko remains and only enlarges preventing the use of other sealing techniques on the Tailed Beast form.
