T
he Academic Examination is by far the hardest sat test a student will ever come across. Three hours of hard gruelling questions, intended to be so hard that even a Kage would need the three hours in order to answer the questions. Only someone with an intelligence SA might stand a chance of being able to answer all of the supplied questions. There will be ten questions over all, with all candidates beginning with ten points. Each question a candidate gets wrong equals a point being deducted from the candidate. Passing or failing will be determined by how many over all points a four man team receives.

'
But ... wait, Aika,' I hear you say, 'we don't have four man teams?Think again.

From here on out the Genin Exams will be designed to test ones ability to work as part of a team - if you can't work as a team now under testing conditions then you have little hope of being able to score the big bucks as a trained killer.

But who will you be working with? Will it be from your own country? NAH. Aika isn't gonna play by the canon rules, so you candidates will be matched up with other students from other countries. People your character has never even met. #StandingUnitedInTheFaceOfAdversity.

Below are your team listings, please be aware they will stick with you for the first TWO rounds of the exams. If you don't play ball then you're not gonna get very far:

Student Team 1: Himura Asahi, Nakamura Arisu, Rin Sato, Shitai Mi, Nara Kichiko

Student Team 2: Tantetsu Banktokitoki, Shitai Nori, Dua Datsu, Takehara Yoko

Student Team 3: Aihara Eiji, Miyamoto Ikana, Hideaki Namagashi, Kamizuru Bun

There will be a potential of 40 marks per team, the team with the highest score passes the examination round. This doesn't automatically eliminate the other teams from progressing, but it will look poorly in your favour if you don't win! In the case that even one person on the team gets a 0, the entire team fails.

Blatant and awkward cheating, i.e. standing up to peer over your mates shoulder, will be met with that participant having two points taken off them. Further blatant infractions will result in that participant being disqualified, along with their teams.

Your character will have to look real hard at their environment, maybe pull a jutsu or two... if they can. #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork

'When, Aika, when is this torment to begin?!

Fear not! It begins very soon! The examination thread will be going up on the 3rd July by Mayuko Kaori, with a posting order and everything! When it is your turn up, you have a 48 hour mandatory response time, so we aren't waiting for the end of the year for someone to post. Failure to meet this deadline will result in your turn being skipped. If you fail to post at all then your team will lose out on winning the big time.

Last note, your adorable examination proctors for the written round are:
Mayuko Kaori, Yoshiaki Mokuba, Chizawa Midori

*There is now one 5 man team, shouldn't cause too much issue, just Aika being a silly sausage.
all da feels
hope you guys are ready for this

P
lease read below for the results of the Written Portion of the Genin Exams. Team scores have been removed due to drop outs and personal skill has been assessed. Those who have passed the exams will receive the XP bonus for passing.

RESULTS:

Kamizuru Bun
The candidate showed promise and potential when dealing with the questions and how to answer them. The candidate was subtle in her usage of what she had on hand in order to access the answers and copy them down. However it should be noted that the rudimentary style of her cheating did not translate well to helping her team mates, which was the main purpose of the task of being placed into teams with shinobi the candidate did not know. Bun answered the questions effectively and displayed adequate skills for a potential shinobi, but her team work - especially how she interacts as opposed to being interacted with - needs considerable work if she is to pass through round 2.

GRADE: PASS 10/10

**OOC NOTE: It was brought to my attention that you used ‘chakra’ to polish your mirror in the exams a few times. It was overlooked as we read it as simply polishing your mirror but in future please note you cannot simply chakra enhance something to make it better. Such things require apping and should not be used in threads otherwise.

Himura Asahi
The candidate displayed adept skills at problem solving, using the True Transformation jutsu to ascertain the correct answers. Moderate teamwork skills were displayed in trying to transfer the answers to other team mates, however the candidate should be noted for breaking rules in order to get by, while some rules can be bent blatant deference to them should be a cause for concern. The candidate should remember to abide by given rules and instructions from superiors, regardless of requirement to complete the task.

GRADE: PASS 9/10

Dua Datsu
The candidate displayed adequate skills but did not remain to complete the test. Candidate has been referred back to the Academy for continued schooling.

GRADE: FAIL 0/10

Nakamura Arisu
The candidate showed promise of working within a team but only demonstrated marginal ability to get her own answers and did not do so with tact required from an experienced shinobi. The drawing of the giraffe also showed that the candidate still does not quite grasp the seriousness of military life. Answers were acceptable however, but candidate needs to reassess her determination to join the military.

GRADE: PASS 10/10

Shitai Nori
The candidate showed advanced skills when faced with ascertaining the answers, the usage of the clone jutsu in order to steal someone else’s answers displayed an adeptness at the potential of being a shinobi. The candidate also demonstrated keen team work skills by passing on her answers to her team mates in an original way.

GRADE PASS 10/10

Rin Sato
The candidate showed promise in trying to defuse the situation and garner answers. Extra attention should be given to the principles of techniques and being more underhanded with strategies. Team work skills were moderate.

GRADE: PASS 10/10

Tantetsu Banktokitoki
The candidate showed promise for the task at hand but quit at the final stage. Candidate has been recommended to reattend the Academy for further tutoring.

GRADE: FAIL 0/10

Miyamoto Ikana
The candidate demonstrated apt ability at different techniques, but did not do so with the idea of secrecy. The candidates hair ink technique inadvertently passed on answers to other teams and this mistake, in a real life scenario, could have cost lives. Candidate should reassess and reaffirm how to be more subtle in future. Candidate offered minor team working skills, but this should be addressed further in order to pass further rounds.

GRADE: PASS 10/10

Aihara Eiji
Candidate represented ample skills and techniques in order to get the task at hand completed, though the candidate should remember to be more subtle with his techniques as well as ensure he has covered his own bases before helping his team mates. Secrecy should be built upon, if only to encourage further improvement of shinobi skills.

GRADE: PASS 10/10

**OOC NOTE: It was brought to my attention that the Aihara clan jutsu technically cannot manipulate threads so easily, as in to bend them significantly around characters and objects. This was an overlook by myself and Yamori, but given this thread was about creativity and not used in a battle environment it has been allowed to stay after discussion with other mods. In future please note Eiji will not be able to manipulate threads so readily/flexibly.

Takehara Yoko
Candidate showed adept espionage skills in terms of getting the answers, proctors noted that the candidate caused minimal disruption in her attempts to get the answers. However the candidate did not help her team mates and minimal team work skills were displayed. Candidate should focus heavily on working as part of a team in order to pass through further rounds.

GRADE: PASS 10/10

Shitai Mi
The candidate showed promise with equipment, but did not bring the appropriate equipment for the task at hand. Though the candidate did attempt to help out team mates with ‘sticky notes’ once these were removed the candidate had to rely on her other team mates to assist her in the completion of the exam. Further focus on team work and personal skills is essential in order to pass through further rounds.

GRADE: PASS 10/10

Hideaki Namagashi
Candidate showed moderate working skill, answering some questions but it should be noted that the candidate did not answer her own test and was helped heavily by her team mates as the handwriting differed from the rest of the test. Like one other candidate, drawing on the test is to be actively discouraged as it displays less than serious intention to be a shinobi - however much of an attempt it was to be a diagram. Application of team working skills need massively worked upon in order to pass through the next rounds.

GRADE: PASS 9/10

Nara Kichiko
Candidate offered moderate technique in order to try and help team mates with answers but did not follow instruction and fell at being obstructed with their jutsu. Candidate showed obvious disobedience to instruction which could transfer to real life issues later in the military. Candidate has since informed the assessment board of their intention to withdraw from the exams, candidate has been recommended to reattend the Academy for further tutoring.

GRADE: FAIL 8/10

END RESULTS

ROUND 2 WILL BE POSTED ON THURSDAY 30TH AUGUST WITH A POSTING ORDER.

C
ongratulations on making it past your written exam! Candidates have now been placed into teams and will be required to work together against an opposing team to capture the flag from their defence line.

This will not be the only condition, however! To replicate what it will be like in a real life scenario candidates will be wearing vests that release paint when pressure is applied to certain areas, much like how one would bleed in a real life example. If the candidate is hurt significantly enough to have their vest bleed out, they will be out of the round translating to, more or less, a real life death. They will not be allowed to participate for the rest of the exams and will be told to exit the arena.

It will not be the opposing teams determination to make the vests explode, but it will encourage candidates to work as a team in order to capture the flag. Team work for this round is vital and candidates will be met with harsher force if they fail to work well with others.

The round will end once the flag has been captured OR all team mates have been downed.

OOC:
In terms of XP rewards, if all team members are outed in this round you will not receive the extra 25XP as you have not performed favourably in the round. You will be facing opponents ranging from Chuunin to Elite Jounin, as children you are not expected to ‘fell’ them in combat, they are simply an obstacle you will need to work around to capture the flag. They will put up obstacles in your way, actively pursue team members who are lagging behind or will put down anyone who doesn’t work well with others. This is the only OOC warning you’ll get about it before it gets enacted in the round.

Teams have been reshuffled too due to the drop outs as well as extra OCs added for opposing teams:

Team 1: Himura Asahi, Miyamoto Ikana, Kamizuru Bun VS Souzouteki Jojo & Oshiro Kouta

Team 2: Aihara Eiji, Shitai Mi, Nakamura Arisu, Rin Sato VS Tanaka Kaito & Chizawa Midori

Team 3: Hideaki Namagashi, Takehara Yoko, Shitai Nori VS Hirabayashi Eizen & Mayuko Kaori

The rounds will be posted up over the weekend, started by Kaori's character and will be continued in the posting order supplied.

ound two has come to a close! Please see below for individual team breakdowns of how each team did and whether they passed or failed. Bonus XP will be rewarded for teams who were successful.

Team 1: Himura Asahi, Miyamoto Ikana, Kamizuru Bun VS Souzouteki Jojo & Oshiro Kouta

> Team 1 displayed moderately adept fighting capabilities but ultimately failed to understand or follow the directive provided before the match start. As a result Himura Asahi was outed for his continuous attempts to solo the task, whether or not in his mind this was seen as 'helping' the team is irrelevant, in the shinobi world teams are expected to stick together and communicate effectively. This was not displayed appropriately from any of the competitors. Miyamoto Ikana was aided in her endeavours by Kamizuru Bun but failed to achieve the team objective or compete as a team because of her own attitude, adopting a defeatist tone and asking the proctors to quit. Perhaps their saving grace came towards the end where the two stuck together even though one tried to provide a strategy to the other in order to capture the flag. The poor communication between the team ultimately proved to be their downfall, as well as minor defeatist attitudes that did not help the other team members.

OUTCOME: FAIL

Team 2: Aihara Eiji, Shitai Mi, Nakamura Arisu, Rin Sato VS Tanaka Kaito & Chizawa Midori

> Team 2 showed significant strategies from the beginning of the round. Notably Rin Sato who, even after being sealed by one of the proctors, still managed to make a good attempt at taking the flag with the use of his team mates. Due to their evident good teamwork skill the team was then tested on whether they could remain a team under strained circumstances. This resulted in the outing of Shitai Mi from the round after getting caught out by a jutsu and Aihara Eiji getting his arm broken. While initially this knocked the team back in their efforts they managed to rally around once more and effectively capture the flag from the proctors.

OUTCOME: PASS

Team 3: Takehara Yoko, Shitai Nori VS Hirabayashi Eizen & Mayuko Kaori

> Team 3 faced off against overwhelming odds, being one man down before the beginning of the exam, but continuously showed effective team working skills regardless of the fact that they did not know each other until the round began. They were constantly tested against strained conditions, with the arena being transformed around them to encourage real time situational changes. Yoko and Nori worked effectively and ultimately achieved their objective against the proctors.

OUTCOME: PASS

Round 3: 1v1 will be posted up over Tuesday/Wednesday, started by Aika and will detail each round and its competitors/judges.

S
ee below for round 3 pair ups and some house rules!

HOUSE RULES:
Round 3 has absolutely nothing to do with knocking out your opponent, though it may help in the long run the objective of this round is to take the armband attached to the arm of the opponent. Your round will be moderated by an experienced shinobi to ensure that no one gets too carried away.

Rule 1: No jutsu can be used above C rank, bare in mind you are RPing children with limited experiene and chakra usage. There are a few of you with C rank techniques, using these in your exam will result in near exhaustion of your character unless they have a specialist SA for chakra control/levels.

Rule 2: The round ends as soon as one or the other gets the armband from the opponent, regardless of how they manage to get it.

Rule 3: The arm band is made of normal ribbon, like the cloth headbands are used from. Jutsu like True Transformation physically alters the shape of the body, which means if you use it to transform into something and the arm changes in size the armband CAN come loose or tear and fall to the floor. If this does happen it is anyone's game to who grabs it first. The same can happen if someone slashes at the arm band and hits it, it will fall to the floor.

Rule 4: Battle mods assigned to fights will only intervene if they feel like something requires intervention or they want their character to witness a specific event (like a KO). If they intervene please respect their decision as battle mod decisions go through all of us, not just the singular individual. If rule 1 is broken, or the person in question is attacking not to get the headband and just to be mean or spoiled sporty, then the mod will intervene ICly.

Rule 5: Respect the outcome of the fight or the attempts of your opponent during the fight. If you don't win it's not the end of the world and even if you are frustrated please keep things polite as you would want to be treated. No one enjoys an event that gets insulting. This is super important for enjoyability of all players and if this rule is broken it will result in removal from the event.

Rule 6: Have fun! You aren't meant to be beating the living daylights out of one another but it the round will come with a hit or two.

Rule 7: Finally, the 48HR post response time is in place as always! This ensures the events speedy end! If you fail to meet the deadline and do not message me over Discord before the deadline is up (you know me, Aika, the one always online) you will be turn skipped and whatever the opponent did to your character in the last turn will be assumed to be an auto-hit. Example: Derp goes for the headband, you miss your turn, Derp will get the headband and the round will end.

PAIRINGS:

PAIR 1: Himura Asahi V Aihara Eiji
PROCTOR
: Chizawa Midori

PAIR 2
: Nakamura Arisu V Shitai Nori V Kamizuru Bun
PROCTOR: Mayuko Kaori

PAIR 3
: Rin Sato V Miyamoto Ikana
PROCTOR: Ishikawa Shin

WINNERS:
Winners will then go onto the second heat, where they will be against the other winners with the same objective. (There are only 3 pairings so it will go 3 > 2 > 1 > over all round winner.)
