Satori Akira

Not long after their valentines date, Akira had made the appointment with her shortly after his leaving to come back and see her again: only this was more about business than anything. So, it was of no surprise to her that he'd turn up to her home this time.

Akira was still wondering what her laboratory would look like as he walked to her home. His attire was entirely casual: a form fitting sleeveless shirt hidden underneath a jacket: black trousers and boots. Boots that would come off inside her home, that was for certain.

He'd knock on her door and await her arrival, and would smile warmly as she opened the door. "Hey, Yoko-chan." He'd step inside the house and kissed her cheekbone as he moved around her - and began to untie his shoelaces and get them off.

"I can't say I'm looking forward to today." He swivelled as he was unzipping his jacket. "But you'll make it bearable." He smiled at her again. In fact, it was easy to tell by his more coy demeanour of the day that he was nervous about their events to come.

He'd not come with any of his traditional weaponry save for what was saved inside his tattoos. Today was the day that he would be getting poisoned relentlessly: a training day. He'd no idea of what to expect, but he trusted Yoko knew her art well enough that she'd prepare him.

Akira was durable, as he'd thought: his body being able to break walls rather than breaking himself. Throwing punches that would ordinarily break other people and not himself. But pain? Pain was very real. Poison was that thing that he'd never delved in to in any manner. Poison was a silent killer, a symptom of paranoia - and he was about to go through a crash course in it which he knew would fully hurt. He'd spent the night before trying to prepare for it, because he wasn't going to tell her to stop.

Well. Hopefully.

Today was training day. Well, potentially one of many. Yoko was planning to play things by ear as far as how far Akira wanted to go with things. Poison training was not something to be taken lightly and she trusted he would accurately convey his tolerance for future sessions after his little introduction was through.

In the spare few minutes before Akira was set to arrive, Yoko stood at her mirror, smoothing down her dress for the tenth time and ensuring she looked adequately radiant. A black chiffon dress adorned her body down to her knees and sported a red diamond cutout centered on her midriff with red edging along half sleeves. Ruby red earrings dangled from her ears, and with some of her hair pinned back on either side of her face, they sparkled perfectly in tune with her usual black-red makeup combo. Tossing in a spritz of apricot perfume, she was 200% ready to give her guest a crash course on everything toxic--and look fabulous doing it.

When he arrived, Yoko went to the door with a spring in her step and would swing the front door open with a smile. Her heart always fluttered a bit when she saw him, now. "Hello," she sang, welcoming him inside and thoroughly enjoying the little kiss he offered her. She wondered, would that be how he greeted her in public, too? Or was it just a private gesture?

Yoko closed the door and leaned back against the wall as he tended to his boots and jacket. "The best learning experiences are the most painful ones," she pointed out. "But you're right. It'll be bearable." She couldn't promise it'd be pleasant, because some of it wouldn't be.

"The lab is this way," she told him, and would gesture for him to follow. A part of her wanted to offer tea, but he was here for training and she'd not waste his time. The pinkette led them down a portion of the entrance hall housing her largest full-body mirror, and then further down they'd reach a door. She slid it open and began the descent, flipping on a light switch to her left.

The lower level to Yoko's home was immediately large, bright, and inviting. The scent of sugar lemon candles drifted halfway up the stairs as they made their way down. The basement itself wasn't dark or damp as one might have expected but instead a fully finished and fully furnished room. White walls, polished white flooring opened up to a generously stocked lab. There were steel work tables, various machinery and monitors, bookshelves overflowing with texts and scrolls on the far left wall, floor-to-ceiling shelving with utensils and tools, cooled storage, chemical samples arranged around the room just so, a large walk-in storage closet at the far back of the room, a huge basin sink along another wall, and a large work desk at the heart of it all. There were floral accents and decor everywhere. Paired with the candles strewn about, the lavish-looking seating, and the overall organization and vibe of the room, it screamed "death by posh" and "contemporary science" in a way only Yoko could really pull off.

All in all, it was just as welcoming as her living room or bedroom--if not more so. This was where she spent the most time, and it showed. Every inch of her lab was about comfort without sacrificing function. She allowed stainless steel and glass where it was needed, but she also hadn't spared any expense on custom-embroidered chairs.

She reached the bottom of the stairs and would twirl once, the skirt of her dress fanning out with the motion. "Welcome to my sanctuary," she said with a sweep of her arms. "The heart of my work, all of it's in here." And she did sound proud of that.

Yoko took a seat at her desk and would allow Akira to wander or marvel if he wished, though the gesture toward the plush seat beside the desk was his invitation to sit as well. She slid a notebook and pen over in his direction, then choosing to sit back in her own cushioned swivel and turn slowly left and right, crossing one leg over the other. It was clear that she was immediately comfortable in here, as if her desk saw her more than her own bed.

"Since you're here to learn about poisons and not just for torture, tell me now if you have any pressing curiosities and I will answer those first before I give you an overview. Once we establish a foundation for the types of poison, we'll move into stress-testing you to acquaint you with their brands of pain."

He thought she looked radiant: and that she'd picked out the dress a week in advance of their meeting again. Or maybe, she simply wanted to look like that for herself. He wasn't in a position to think about it. Akira would follow after the woman as she offered to take them down.

It was nice that she was trying to keep him calm for his own sake. "I hope so." He would probably eat his words when it was actually happening but for the moment could deal with it. It was easy to deal with it when you didn't have poison in your system.

Akira did wonder a bit about the smell, if it might contaminate the area. He was expecting it to smell sterile: like a hospital and antibacterial hand wash. But that was not the case. Perhaps she didn't need to keep it to the same standard.

Down the stairs and actually into the Lab, Akira looked around, a slightly agape look on his face as he stared - so this was what it looked like. "I can't imagine how much this cost to have done to the house." Akira mused out loud.

He didn't doubt the woman was a scientist now, a medic: this was confirmation of everything he needed to know. "And I'm only the second guest here? Quaint." He spoke again, briefly wandering to the reading materials, all in languages that he couldn't understand about the human body. But his thoughts would be cut sharply as she sat down: he would follow suit and be by her side and sat down in the plush seat around.

Firstly, the questions. He didn't have anything pressing. "I don't have anything right now but if anything crops up I'll be sure to ask." The invitation was warming for her, she was trying to make it as easy on him as possible. But he did have something, which was he held out his palm for her: and with a puff of smoke, a spool of wire would appear in it.

"I've gotten a closer grasp on my Bijuu's power: and I can have some freakish strength. Could you make sure to tie me down with this as well?" He would find it harder to break from as well from whatever it was she was about to inflict on him. Though he would try not to move, he wasn't promising anything. "What types of pain are there exactly to be inflicted? Are there more popular brands than others? And I'm sure you'll go into it but I want to also find out about how to figure out when it's being used." The thoughts from his last nights meditatioins were coming to light however.

The first thing Akira chose to comment on was how it all looked--price of it, that was. "Oh yes, very expensive," she said with a pleasant hum, as if she'd responded to that remark a dozen times over. It hadn't come cheap but this room was now priceless to her and it'd been worth every coin during construction.

Akira's comment on being "only" the second person in here was cute. She giggled at the thought but did let him wander as he wished for a time. The lab was ordinary to her at this point but it was a lot to take in for someone who didn't study medicine.

After taking a seat next to her, Akira confirmed he didn't have any "pressing" questions, though he would summon wire to his hand in a request that he be doubly restrained during any tests. She tried and failed not to smirk at the gesture. Silly. Did he think there weren't restraints down here already? Even so, if he wanted her to specifically use his own wire, she would oblige. "Of course." She took it from him, setting it upon her desk for later.

"In order: The type of pain depends on what the chemical is doing to your body. There are no brands in the sense you're thinking. You cannot visit the nearest franchised tonic shop and buy a bottle of what a poison specialist creates. Your last inquiry on identifying the 'when' touches on one of the more basic principles in poison crafting." She tapped the notebook she'd slid over toward him a few moments before, implying that it would be wise to take notes unless his memory was especially good.

"People interchange poisons, toxins, toxicants, and venoms. Where science is concerned, these classifications only matter if you're wanting to define how the chemical was produced. What I craft are largely toxicants. I refer to them as toxins because they are largely biologically produced in nature--I simply embellish them by synthesizing them with chemicals from poisons and venoms. Most use 'poison' and 'toxin' interchangeably and for general purposes that is passably accurate." She paused here, picking up one of her pens and twirling it around her fingers.

"What's vital for you to know is simply how something was introduced to your system. There are three primary methods: inhaling, ingesting, and injecting. Absorption is potentially viable but takes too long and most people who craft poisons don't go that route. So when you're in combat, your analysis toward symptoms should be put toward your enemy and your environment: what's touched you, what have you breathed in, have you eaten anything potentially poisonous, et cetera. Toxic agents can be synthesized to mask their presence, meaning that some effects are delayed and some are instant. Myotoxins in snake venom rapidly attack your muscles. But hemotoxins that thin your blood? You wouldn't sense that until you suffered a cut that didn't stop bleeding."

Yoko stopped the pen and began twirling it the opposite direction, green eyes locked on Akira. It was clear she was reciting things from memory and found all of it rather elementary in nature, but she was being thorough and wanting to ensure he understood everything before moving on.

"Questions so far?"

He had enough intelligence to comprehend how they mattered, but kind of 'brushed it off' in their specific legal jargon. The specifics didn't particularly matter to him, as to how they were legally created. Akira wanted to know in the battle sense how that would apply to him. Though, still helpful.

But he was gathering a basic understanding. Yoko was able to produce toxins (basically poisons). They were made from everything in nature, and he already had a decent grasp (through his imagination) of how they could be administered to somebody, but having it outlined again was a good refresher. But for his own future reference, it was a good mind exercise to just be cognisant of the choices he was making and being conscious in the moment rather than purely relying on his muscle memory like he would when ordinarily training.

But he did pay attention to her, looking between the lab and the chiffon dress she wore, and her face (of course!) everything that she said, he was taking in. All of it was good to know. It would be in the future when his memory failed him on some of the more difficult concepts like their categorising and legal definitions he would fault. But things that could kill them, and how they could? Very useful.

"But by that point isn't it generally too late, if you can't pre-empt when a, uh, toxin, is coming your way?" The point was that he wanted to learn to fight against them, to push through the pain they caused. But if someone caught him with a life-ending poison, the last thing he wanted to worry about would be his environments. Though, it would likely be made clear to him about it. Like, if you could out-breathe a toxin that was administered through inhalation?

His questions would come as she spoke, making sure he was able to fully make use of the time they had together. When he remained quiet and she asked if there were any further questions, he would look up to the corner in his eye: then to her, and pointed cheekily.

"Yes. How dare you look that good in that." He would offhandedly comment on her, easing into the chair. "-my question is, rephrasing, what are the common types of poisons, or toxins - you might see? Am I going to be paralysed, or something?" That was a two part question that also wondered what was going to be put on him. There were some things he simply wouldn't be able to fight against.

He posed a valid question. Would it be too late once the substance had taken effect? "Depends on the toxin," she said. And it was no exaggeration. There were those that did kill but also those that faded on their own with time. And depending on what the effects were? Some were very survivable. Others? Not a chance.

Of course, Akira found the nearest opportunity to compliment her dress, which she appreciated. She smirked at him and thought to joke about taking it off, but he was here for business, not pleasure. ...Maybe later.

What he asked her next was actually convenient to her talking points, as the main types of poison were what she'd been planning to highlight next. As for what he'd see from her versus what he'd see from other poison specialists? The spectrum was broad.

"The main types you'll see used against you fall into three categories. Hemotoxins target the blood. Cytotoxins target cells. And neurotoxins target your nervous system. A neurotoxin is what will paralyze you. Cytotoxins cause cell death--like necrosis. And hemotoxins affect the blood cells directly--like the venoms that force hyper-coagulation." Her eyes moved to a portion of the shelving that contained a batch of toxins that did just that last one--all in their experimental stages.

"For me personally? Some of my toxins kill. Others are meant to torture but leave my target alive. I have one in my desk right now that will rot whatever it touches. I have another that I personally found so excruciating that I passed out the first time I tested it." She appeared to be reminded of something, shifting her posture suddenly. "Oh, yes, I'm not sure you're aware. I test everything I use on myself. So you can rest easier that I'm not going to expose you to anything I've not experienced myself." Maybe it would come as a small comfort. Or none at all. But while he was going in blind to this, she definitely wasn't.

"To answer your earlier question a little more precisely, whether or not you die from a fatal toxic substance depends on how well you isolate its influence and how quickly you administer an antidote or antivenin. If you've one minute to live before your heart stops but the antivenin takes two minutes to start kicking in, you're still very dead." Common sense, but she was trying to cover everything. It was the time windows for purging poisons that actually gave her the most trouble. Yoko needed to time them perfectly so the chemicals reacted immediately, staving off the effects of her creations starting the very moment they were introduced to the body. It was tricky, but it assured they always worked when she needed them the most.

Satori Akira

Akira could tell about the various types of Genjutsu and how they worked ,and the reasoning and mechanics behind how they worked. So he understood the nature of when she spoke the passion in her words. "Uhhuh." but his compliment was not well received. As was to be expected, he wanted to get it over and done with as well.

Akira did stop momentarily, placing his chin on his fist while he looked at her, and how her eyes moved. There was certainly some intent behind her words that she wasn't saying out loud.

Coagulation? "Blood clotting. Like forcing a stroke. Kills you dead. Hm." There was some vague interest there but it wasn't why she'd chosen to mention that specifically. It was where she'd looked over to a portion of her shelving. Akira hadn't missed on the look. But it seemed pointed. Because it likely was. Hyper coagulation as she'd put it, would make someone who used blood pretty useless.

He felt like it was a good start that she tested everything on herself. "Presumably for immunity?" It would also help against other poisons. Unless she was more sturdy than her frame suggested then Akira would certainly have no issues with the poisons. Though, he knew that she could take a pounding when she wanted to - so poisons would be nothing for her.

That was the point. Knowledge was power. To identify what it was, what it hurt: and how it worked was the process in stopping it. But otherwise, Akira's thought was to power through it like a brute whereas Yoko was more of a methodologically break down. "Right. I understand."

Akira closed his eyes and exhaled. "Well. I'm ready for next steps whenever you are. You're the Sensei today." He did make a point of saying Sensei. He was reasonable (and respectable) enough to listen to the wisdom from her mouth, he knew nothing of the subject. He'd look around the lab a second time, taking in the immaculate nature of it all. So... clinical.

Yoko's gaze drifted away from the shelving at Akira's additions about blood. "Correct." But her voice seemed distant in the moment, like she was preoccupied with a few thoughts...or a few dozen.

Akira did guess correctly that her ultimate goal was immunity. "That's right. My eventual goal is to improve the immunity I already have." Most of the lesser substances found on the streets weren't strong enough to faze her, and the bulk of her own creations were void as well. She only needed the most potent to work their way through enough times to gain that last branch of resistance...

Her lab partner for the afternoon--was it fair to call him that?--would indicate he was ready for whatever was next. Yoko had half expected him to want more detail on the toxin types but apparently he was content with the brief touch on what each of them were. It went without saying that she'd not be exposing him to anything grievous right away. He did still seem uneasy, but he was taking it in stride. And..."sensei"?

"My, it's been some time since anyone's called me that." It felt weird and foreign. "Anyway. What I will do is introduce via injection and ingestion a few substances and tell you how they're working as they take effect. A few will need antidotes administered. If you can handle the smaller items, I'll allow you the treat of the heftier mixes." She pulled a drawer open next to her and would place a vial of clear liquid upon the desk. After retrieving a glass of water from the sink and sitting back down with it, she poured the vial into the glass of water. The liquid instantly turned bright blue.

"I've been testing temperature reactions," she noted. "For fun." And with that she'd take a sip of the water, proving to him that the solvent wasn't fatal, and then slid it over. "Take a drink. Tell me what you taste."

The answer would be nothing. What the poison did, however, was induce disorientation and vision loss--not complete, but very close. The chemical even diluted in water was one to mimic high fever. The next step with it was hallucinations, but she hadn't gotten that far yet with the batch. And there was, of course, the desire to start at a small, manageable level for her student's sake. This one was nothing that required his lovely wire just yet. Rather, she wanted him to grasp that not every substance could be obviously picked up by the sense he might have expected. And he needed to dip his toes in first.

"You'll feel a bit...out of it, shortly. Your vision will suffer. The effects will fade over the following few minutes." It was crafted to rapidly break down after initial absorption--though there were other batches specifically made to withstand the harsh environment of digestion and make for a hellish ride all the way through the body.

For once he didn't blame Yoko doing it for herself: Poison was scary shit. But to correctly get it, herbs or whatever: all quite difficult. To use it in battle was easy, but to actually have it in the first place? That was the difficult part. For Yoko to do all of that in her spare time while working her
missions or doing hospital work.

She would calmly explain their itinerary as if they were on a holiday. But the man was taking it seriously: focused exclusively on her now. 'No kidding.' he would let out a chuckle. "Gee, thanks." there was an element of dark humour in her words but they both knew it was serious: if she got something wrong, he could die in that basement.

Akira would study the glass as well as it changed color. "That's not very subtle." he remarked as he looked between Yoko and the glass. Who would even drink it with how it looked? Unless the drink was already blue to begin with? Or if it could be applied through a cut.

"Bottoms up." Akira would just down the glass of water. He wasn't going to do things by half-measures (or pints) and wanted the full experience. Even if that meant bringing himself to harm. The first few seconds of swirling it in his mouth then swallowing, he'd give it some thought. "Not a lot. A bit like a cleaning fluid? Like, I can tell it's not quite food." but that was all she'd get from him on the taste.

While he was waiting for it to work, he has a question. "By temperature, does it act differently? Like - colourless when cold?" there were things just springing into his mind but he then started to feel something, he squinted toward Yoko: then side eyed in another direction.

People would call Akira a workaholic who had his schedule down to a T: and worked very much so. Even now, there were several clones working together and training while he was down here receiving shots of poison. He would sit there: waiting for the effects. And it would be evident when it did in his face when he leaned back in his chair, his eyes losing some focus: and trying to focus. "oahaa, Kami," he kept blinking, using more of his facial muscles when he did.

His head felt out of it. "Do you want like, a go by of what's going on right now or do you just fully know what you're doing to me?" Akira would ask the woman, though it took him more than usual to get out the words because he was going in and out of focus with his own mind. Akira didn't realise the potency of this poison wasn't even that much: so it would be an absolute treat for the later ones.

He felt drunk: only when being drunk he had an idea of his movements. Here, he felt disjointed. Like his mind was separate from his body. A new feeling. "THis'YL. Be great for my Genjutsu." He remarked, still trying to focus with his vision going haywire. He was seeing colors: he could still visibly understand his environment but nothing was in focus: areas were black. Never a good sign for the middle of battle.

Subtle? It wasn't supposed to be subtle. Yoko shot him a look of "Really?" before continuing on. She didn't expect him to down the entire glass. In fact, she'd specified one drink, not all of it. She would have to be more clear with directions...

And...cleaning fluid? Yoko raised a brow. The poison had zero taste. How? Was it the water? What was wrong with the water? What was wrong with his tongue? ...Well, probably nothing. Maybe the glass hadn't been rinsed enough? She was definitely overthinking it.

"Hot and cold affect different batches. This one is revealed by colder temperatures." She might have made one less obvious, but again--experiment.

Akira's reaction to the first item was...questionable. He had such a strange reaction for something that wasn't even causing him any pain. Would he be able to handle the more advanced mixes?

"I know what it's doing. This visit is for you, darling, not me. If I wanted to test my newest field kit, I'd grab Kaito again. Or someone from Kusagakure." She snickered at the thought. It had been an interesting thing having that man in her lab, watching him endure some of her worst creations like he shrugged off torture on a daily basis. It'd been...marvelous, really. She realized while musing on this, though, that maybe she was musing too much, and the heat in her face would have her get up again and go to the sink.

She fetched two glasses of water, letting the tap run until it was extra cold, and would bring back two glasses of water to the desk. One remained in front of her, the other she slid over to Akira. "This one's not spiked," she told him, humor tinting her voice.

Yoko took a drink from her glass and then braced her elbow against the desk, taking a few moments to admire the seal on her finger. "You know it's only going to get worse. Can you handle it?" She flickered her gaze over at him, one of the few times she would actually question his decision on something. But it was in the interest of safety.

"Right." Akira answered honestly. He supposed the science was about perfection, and finding the correct concoction of ingredients that worked the best together. But he shrugged even during the stupor.

But it made sense, so he wouldn't need to do anything except experience the pain. "OK." He responded simply and let it all ride through. But he was riding through it, and his vision was already returning: it hadn't been significant enough. He did chuckle though with her. He'd pick up the glass of water and drink through that, though, funnily enough: only took some small gulps at that, being not poisoned.

"I'm going to go through all of them whether I want to or not." Akira was firm in his response. Akira handled pain he thought very well, it was how he managed to have fist sized scars on his body, as well as a asterisk styled scar on his back: which she'd more than seen and asked about. He'd been punctured, stabbed, hit by an explosion: not many of those topped that. This wouldn't be too difficult.

"Yoko-chan, I am giving you free reign to torture me." he adjusted his trousers, pulling them up. "Use the opportunity." His was pain training: testing the durability he felt he'd improved on in his life, tirelessly working with clones to enrich it.

This wasn't something learned in the academy. They'd been given the theory on it- as well as an outlier of the dangers that being a Shinobi could cause, as well as lessons on loyalty to Iwagakure. But never practical pain treatments, to resist against it. Presumably it would come with the job you'd get hurt, but could he ever be prepared?

Akira exhaled, everything back to normal. "Go wild." He would stare off into space, waiting for whatever it was she wanted to do next.

Akira was sticking to his choice, claiming he'd go through what she gave him "whether he wanted to or not," which was incredibly poor phrasing on his part. The fact he'd shown up to her home today was proof enough he wanted to be here. But if there came a time in the basement that something overwhelmed him, he was implying now that he wouldn't tell her no. But "no" was the most powerful word in her home, and Akira was making a joke of that.

Yoko eyed him--very deliberately studying him as he came away from the effects of the first poison. There was scrutiny there, and her tone was sharp when she spoke. "You'll tell me to stop the very instant you want it stopped," she corrected. "I don't need to tell you why." But if his memory was truly that poor, she would remind him.

"I can torture the willing all day long. But I'll sooner kill myself than rob you of your consent to stop anytime you wish. Are we fucking clear?" Was she angry? A little. It wasn't his fault, of course. There were other things on her mind. Other people. Lingering frustration.

She reached into her desk again and retrieved a new vial and an injector, loading it with a light green liquid. The injector was a simple tool, a steel pin the size of a senbon housed in glass. Liquid was loaded into it from one side and with the push of a thumb it injected toxins the same way she did so in the field. It hurt just as bad as the real thing, but she enjoyed having her lab tests mimic actual conditions as closely as possible. A syringe just wasn't the same.

"This one bites like strong acid. It'll spread a good deal but won't do permanent damage. I don't expect you to throw any tables over it, anyway..." She wheeled over to his arm and placed the injector just below his bicep near the crook of his arm. His choice to wear a sleeveless shirt made the positioning easier. She gave him a look as if to say "Ready?" and if he confirmed, in the pin would go, a sharp stab, and then she wheeled back, placing the glass upon her desk. And waiting.

Satori Akira

As far as he was speaking for himself - she didn't like it at all and the man reeled back slightly at the sudden forceness in her response. 'Shit, alright..' but she did it with respect and care in her heart for him - or anyone else who chose to be in her little lab.

That was certainly another side to her. Akira nodded quietly. "Clear." he responded - she didn't want to take away his right of choice. Akira respected that. It made sense for someone like her: she didn't want choice robbed from those like she'd had for herself. His mind made the slight in connection and chose not to bring anything to it lest he made it awkward. "I'm ready." He would say again, giving his own approval that she could poison him.

It would be easy for her to find a vein from his musculature and toned body, and nodded - she would inject. Nothing special, as she did, Akira would briefly look away. He didn't mind needles but he didn't need to watch an operation in hand. And he looked between her and his arm now that it was going to begin working. Just as she had expected, as well as him: a itching, burning sensation grew in his arm: and started to spread. Likely his blood carrying it across as he lived and breathed. It would grow in power the longer it took.

That was more like it. Akira would simply grit his teeth and stare off into the distance: small grimaces on his face but nothing more than that. No noise, no other words from him - just a little bit of breathing and an annoyed look to his face: nothing more than a response to the fact he was actually being poisoned. His face was warming up though in response, a small red flushing into his cheeks in response - mimicking that he was actually hot. But still fine.

Even so, would not prepare him for what was coming: and couldn't quite shrug it off like Tanaka Kaito could: but they weren't at that point yet. "It itches." Akira would say, not really sure where to keep his gaze - she wasn't doing an ever so good job of being his submissive girl today. Not in the position they were in, and this was not a time of pleasure: this was hurting: she was on the job, and she was acting in the right manner for it: just like she had in their prior mission. Dedicated, even.

With the second mixture beginning to take hold, Yoko was left to sit and watch. She swung one of her feet, eyes peeled for the smallest of reactions in him. He showed signs of discomfort but not real pain. Well, not real pain by her standards.

What made it so interesting to her was how their responses would differ once she got into the heavier toxins. There were some that, at the time, she had doubted her ability to endure because the pain had blasted any other thought from her brain outside of how much agony she felt. But Akira? Who knew. At least he seemed to understand fully now that he could rescind his participation whenever he wanted.

His comment on the acidic burn inducing itching had been expected. "It will continue until it fades," she told him, picking up the wire and looking it over. She didn't think it was worth tying him up early, but it would likely help Akira's peace of mind if she did anyway.

The pinkette went over to one of her work tables and pressed a lever beneath it. It lowered to the height needed for him to climb atop it and lay down. Once the effects had faded, she would wave him over.

The wire would restrain his wrists above his head to the top of the table, and his ankles to the bottom. After using the wire, though, she grabbed fasteners from beneath the table in the form of long leather strips reinforced with steel at their center. These she wrapped across his legs, around his wrists, and then across his hips, before latching them beneath the table itself with a few clicks. They would be pulled tight, but not painfully so.

And then the third toxin. Yoko went to her chilled storage for this. a special mixture that she kept stored right beside the many venoms she'd used in its creation.

When she returned to him, she'd have a new injector in hand with a black liquid loaded in. "I don't know how much you've studied vipers," she said, "but some of the chemicals they produce are truly horrific. This little mix--" she tapped the glass, "--was inspired by three of them." She proceeded to lift his shirt and would inject the needle just above his stomach.

There would be a tingling burn, followed by a greater burn, followed by intense heat to the area, all which spread outward at a rapid pace. A feverish sweat and chills would course through him, followed by what he'd been wanting: pain. It was triple what the acidic toxin had felt like and it would fatigue the bulk of the muscles in his torso alongside the searing bite to his nervous system.

"Much of the frustration you'll find with toxins is that they're not a pain you can easily soothe. You can cradle a broken hand to your body for comfort, but you can't touch a substance that's already inside of you. This toxin mimics some of the effects of snake bites. Fever, panic, weakness--none of which you want to suffer alone in the jungle, nor when fighting for your life."

Generic Toxin, B-Rank
Intense burn, increased temperature, great pain, heightened pulse, chills. Slight disorientation common. Muscle weakness.

Satori Akira

And so it did: but it began to lessen as if he'd just went about having a hot curried food and the lingering burn was still there: even as it crossed into his torso he hadn't anticipated that it would spread as widely as it had. Given that they'd only just started.

She'd not waste any more time and Akira also didn't want to give himself leverage to be comfortable with how much worse it could possibly get. He'd quickly shoot himself to a standing position, eager to get into the table: only so that he didn't get too nervous and start going upstairs. She'd done as he'd asked. "Thanks for this. I know it must not be easy." causing pain to others: especially allies. Perhaps for someone like Arizo it was easy: or other people in the world.

Then she did as he asked and tied him. And tied him good. If he was going to break out, it would be with some considerable, continued effort. Not impossible: difficult. "That's good you're being very hygenic, all new needles and everything." He'd comment as he watched her, feeling particularly vulnerable given what she knew, and if it was the time to strike: this was it.

When she'd spoke of snakes, he'd respond quickly: "Not at all." but he had a good idea about where it was going. Venomous creatures equalled bad. They'd had to learn about poison in the academy as well.

Another prick in his midrift. The action was immediate. He'd focus on the sound of her voice and not the creeping pain in his body. "Oh, my." Akira hadn't intended for it to come out so That was a very real pain burning in his gut and spreading: his body suddenly feeling the effect of chills as his teeth went between chattering and tensing - his body also lightly vibrating.

"Mother-fucker..." he rolled his head around, certainly with a different reaction than what she'd received from her other patient: from someone who didn't willingly bring himself to pain, only in aid of his training: all within his control. This? No, no it wasn't.

His body had some light strain and he was just making sure to breathe through it. "I think my combat efficiency would drop quite a lot with this." Akira was speaking just as it ramped up. He felt all of the physiological changes - and then the muscle weakness. Like his legs were becoming jelly: or just responding unlike he wanted them to, noticing if he was trying to clench: they would do so awkwardly. If he were trying to run: that's where it would show off the most.

He grunted. The first of many, in the pain being intense around his stomach like being continually punched. A little barrage of pain that wouldn't let up, his breathing would become more shallow as a result - trying to get as much breathing in his lungs.

"Ooo..." he would look up toward the lights, being blinded by them slightly. This was a little hotter, and a lot more painful than the previous one. "At lea...st I'm experiencing new things." a dark joke, he'd reasoned would be his go to, in trying to not think about it.
