Oh, The Places We'll Go
"If ya say so...she really didn't seem to like ya that much..."

Ayukawa would shrug her shoulders, looking over toward the door just as the other youth walked out. Honestly, she couldn't really get a read off her. There was something about her that both interested her, and yet freaked her out at the same time. Perhaps was just from what she could read off her physical appearance. It was just strange that she'd have two holes and zero sign of any medical attention. Still, her friend seemed not too worried about it, so perhaps she shouldn't be either.

As the bell rang, a medic would appear within the room. She was nice enough to kneel down to look at the girl's legs, noting the rather reddish tint on them and clear burns along their surface. When Ayukawa liked to have fun, she did to the extreme. With her working on cleaning and bandaging the girl's limbs, the Suna nin would look over at Kazui as she held a blank expression on her face.

"Ya know...I just kinda thought about it....with these being the exams and all..it's likely that we'll be facing one another at some point...I'm hoping not! But ya know...test...they really suck..."

Looking down briefly, she'd then grin as she turned to face Kazui once again.

"Anyway! No matter what happens...Lets promise to still remain friends..or....something like that..."

Mimicking the girl's tone of voice in the last part of her statement, she'd extend her fist out as it waiting for her to bump it back with her own, still as giddy and cheerful as ever.

The words that Ayukawa spoke would fall on death ears, Kazui choosing to ignore it completely. She knew the girl didn’t like her, for whatever reason, regardless she couldn’t care less if anybody liked her or not, the girl remained mostly to herself, out of the way, minding her own business. If anyone found a reason to not like her, it was more than likely a feud within themselves rather than a feud with Kazui. Nevertheless, the Uchiha would drop down from the table and allow Ayukawa to sit there by herself as Kazui stood next to her.

After the ringing bell died down, one of the medics would come and examine the Suna’s leg. She had scraped it up much like how Kazui injured her hand. It wasn’t serious how everything, and that was all that really mattered.

Folding her arms across one another, the girl would watch closely as Ayukawa’s cuts and bruises were treated, her concentration being broken however as the more energetic girl began to speak, dark hues drifting from the girl’s leg to her eyes. The exams were meant to test their ability to adapt and execute as well as their overall skill set. It didn’t seem unlikely that the two would face each other at some point down the line, but it was best if they didn’t worry about that as of now.

Before Kazui was able to speak, Ayukawa would add on to her previous statement, hoping that if they were put against each other as opposition, that they would still remain friends after everything was said and done. Sighing gently beneath her breath, the girl would rest her eyes for a split second before looking at Ayukawa. The look in her eyes told Kazui that she was a genuine person, and that she really wanted to be Kazui’s friend no matter what. But why? Why did she want to be friends so bad? Kazui was an awful "friend”, she couldn’t even say that Ayukawa was her friend when Kuni asked. She never talked to Ayukawa and she was kind of rude to her. It didn’t make sense. A smile faintly curled on her lips as she softly bumped fists with the girl. Gently placing a hand on Ayukawa’s shoulder, Kazui would speak. "I promise.” She murmured softly.

"Awesome! I promise too!"

Ayukawa would grin as she felt the girl's hand on her shoulder, hearing her promise that no matter what, the two of them would remain friends. It was a comforting thing to hear, as people in her life seemed to be in short supply with her family so far away. They had said that they did wish to be there, but it was quite the distance to Yukigakure. As for friends, she knew people in the academy treated her differently, some down right didn't like her because she was considered too laid back when it came to being a shinobi.

Aside from Asahi, there were just a small few that would put up with her for too long, which to be fair, she was a handful at times. Still, to have someone to trust and hang out with that you genuinely liked was much like being a kid. Though she couldn't figure out why it seemed that it had to be Kazui of all people? There was just something about her, a determination that made her work just as hard to keep up with her. She didn't want to fall behind her in any way, but to be able to stand next to her as a capable shinobi of worth.

The Chunin exams would test the both of them, and she really did hope for the best when it came to her friends success. But, if it did come to pass that they were to be on opposite sides, she knew that for her to complete both hers and her brother's dream, she'd have to put those feelings aside and fight against the girl.

Pulling her arm back, she'd soon see that the nurse was finished with taking care of her knees, allowing herself to swing them from side to side as she bowed her head in takes to the medic. With the woman leaving the two of them again, Ayukawa would then push herself off the table, stretching her arms into the air as she began to release a yawn.

"Patched up and ready to go! I was gonna take another lap around the city to warm up for my training! Did you wanna come or would you rather rest up?"

It was a small offer for the two of them to do something together, but she'd be okay if the girl didn't want to join in. Of course, while most people might want to take their mild injury as a sign to rest, Ayukawa hadn't gotten that hint and was ready to continue with her regular activities.

"Awesome.” She thought to herself as Ayukawa made her promise as well. Now that that was out of the way, the two of them didn’t have to worry about hating each other regardless of what happens in the exam. They weren’t in control here, and they both knew that it was likely to happen. Still, the girl’s answer was reassuring. Removing her hand from her shoulder, Kazui would place her hands behind her back, interlocking her fingers as she waited for the medic to finish up with the Suna. Once that was done, Kazui would watch as the girl dropped down from the table with a cheerful demeanor as always before stretching and yawning.

"Hmm.”

She pondered on the offer. The injury on her hand wasn’t severe, but part of her did want to call it a day. Besides, it was always nice to be inside where it was warm instead of out in the cold where it was freezing. She could feel her nose getting redder as she thought about the weather. Nevertheless, she didn’t want to leave Ayukawa hanging, perhaps she could prevent the girl from doing anything crazy or clumsy. "Sure. I’ll tag along.” She said softly as she retrieved her robe from the hook where all the jackets were hung. "One lap around wouldn’t hurt, I suppose.” The girl added on as she shrugged and led Ayukawa to the door. The cold breeze would hit the girl’s skin, but she wouldn’t think too much of it. Looking from left to right, she tried to decide on which way she wanted to start.

"Let’s go this way.”

Mumbling softly as she spoke and pointed her finger. Perhaps if she tried to give herself more of a chance to get used to Ayukawa then maybe just maybe she would be able to get to know her better and ultimately trust her enough to deem the girl as a close friend. But doing so was difficult. She didn’t know what to say. What would they talk about? Kazui didn’t like small talk at all, so making friends was always difficult for her. "Uhm.” She started gently beneath her breath as she tried to think of something to say. "How..um-uh..how..have things been since our last mission?” She asked. "That was horrible.” The girl thought to herself as she internally sighed and began gently slapping her hand across her forehead in her mind.

Oh, The Places We'll Go
"Alright!! This is gonna be super fun!!"

As the two emerged out of the clinic, Ayukawa was still stretching herself out as she was now bending her knees up and down. Her energy was clearly in overdrive with Kazui seeming to want to join in. It was all the more reason for her to do her best to keep up. Though she didn't think that would be a problem. After all, she did stuff like this back home all the time. Though with the conditions being much different, it meant that she had to be sure to apply chakra to her footing to prevent such a fall from happening again. Or at least, that was what Hiroaki, the Councilman she'd met here had suggested.

Yet, as they prepared to go, Kazui seemed to be wondering just how things were since the last time they had seen one another. Twisting her torso from one side to the next, the girl would close her eyes as she continued to smile in her usual way.

"Well...I did get to see my folks! They live with the rest of my clan in the farthest part of the desert. I kinda wish they could be here, but its a lot of money to bring the clan all the way out here. Not to mention that I don't think they'd all like it so much..."

Zipping up her jacket, she'd then bend over as she began to touch her toes.

"Oh! I also got to hang out with my big brother Asahi! He's so cool! Though he seemed to be distracted by somethin...likely his girlfriend and him having a spat...I went to see her to check it out, but she didn't answer the door..."

With that said, she'd then rise back up as she looked to Kazui with a grin.

"What about you? Did anything interesting?"

Don’t just weather the storm.
Dance in it.

Kazui was kind of of happy that Ayukawa was enjoying herself in Yuki no kuni, she was even happier that she was always filled with energy. No matter how stoic or uncaring Kazui seemed, when Ayukawa was around she often found herself feeling a lot different than she normally did. If she had to choose a reason why, the girl would probably guess it was Ayukawa’s energy and positivity. It made everyone feel a bit better.

The older girl would listen closely as the other explained everything that entered her mind when the question was asked. A lot of family issues, Kazui could relate to that but in a different way. Nevertheless, the girl would grin at the answer provided. "I guess that's good, you getting to see your family and big brother and all of that.” Kazui would say softly as her head lowered and her eyes began watching her own feet as they trudged through the snow. In that moment the Uchiha was reminded of her own brother, well the few memories she had with him. In honesty, she misses the boy dearly and she doesn’t even know much about him.

She was beginning to get into her own head, zoning out as she walked as if she were on autopilot. That was until Ayukawa spoke again, asking if she had done anything herself since the last time they had seen one another. "Well, I haven’t really done much..just work and training, ya know.” The girl explained as she shrugged her shoulders. Her life may have seemed boring - and it was - but Kazui actually enjoyed the slow pace at which her life was going.

"Heh heh...somethin like that...I mean...he seems like a big brother...acts like it too...plus if ya saw him in action hes really really cool...so is the clan...their just like one big family...guess thats why I hang out there a lot since mine is so far away..."

Ayukawa knew that her family was far away, and Asahi had been a great surogate when it came to a family connection. But in truth, it was really all a perception of such ties. Bonds had to be built up and maintained, they weren't something that could be forced. If anything, Ayukawa had been the one to engage even their relationship and try and keep it tied to each other. Though Kazui seemed to not mind it, or at least was too polite to say anything on it.

Similiar to anything else that was going on in her life, keeping things about as neutral as it could get. But, it was just her way...or at least how Ayukawa could assume was her way.

If being older made you somewhat more closed off, she really hoped that she stayed thirteen forever.

"Sounds about right...guess I gotta spend more time training if I'm ever gonna catch up to ya..."

A wide grin crossed her lips before she then began to pat the snow and ice from the surface of her boots. She was gonna need some traction during this run, and the last thing she wanted was to slip and slide. It was what had brought her to the clinic in the first place.

"Say when ya ready to go..just don't slip on the ice and all that..."

"Hmm that’s good. It seems like you really enjoy being around them and what not. I’d assume that you would have a ton of support as well.” Kazui spoke softly, hiding her own inner turmoil on the situation surrounding her and her own family. The only family she truly had left were people who she deemed trustworthy enough and those who she loved the most. None of them being blood related to her, but it was all that she had. However, despite these feelings that the girl felt inside; seeing Ayukawa happy made her tolerate the conversation. The girl’s energy was high, as always, and that was just something that Kazui could not ignore even if she wanted to.

"Heh. You’re not too far off, you’re here aren’t you?”

The teen voiced softly as she watched the girl brush the snow off of the bottom of her shoes. Kazui would do the same, except she would simply tap the tip of her shoe against the heel of the opposite foot, knocking the snow from the soles. The snow would eventually return, but that was a problem to deal with at a later time. At least the start of their run would be somewhat enjoyable.

"I’m ready when you are.” Waiting for Ayukawa to initiate the run, the Uchiha would simply stand with her hands in the pockets of her jacket, protecting them from the cold. The second Ayukawa took off, Kazui would follow right behind her.

"Ya right about that..but as your rival...I gotta stay in just as good of shape as you are...no slackin off..."

The youth couldn't tell if Kazui was taking her seriously or not. But this was something that she intented to see through to the end. She wanted to be stronger like her brother, and that meant having a goal to reach. At this moment, her goal was to have the same focus that the Uchiha always seemed to display in everything that she did. Sure, it wouldn't change the fact that her personality was the complete opposite of the slightly older female, but her dedication was something that Ayukawa couldn't help but admire.

Twisting her body from one side to the next, her arms outstretched as she pulled against them briefly to increase her warm up, she'd soon hear the female state that she was ready when she was, leading to the Sunagakure nin holding a grin as she knelt down and placed her hands upon the snow. Each digit felt the chill of the ice beneath the fluffed surface, her left leg bent close to the chest, the other extended back as if to prompt her movement.

"Okay...ready....set...Go!"

With that said, the sand shinobi was off like a rocket, seeming to move forward with clear speed in mind as she began to traverse the street ahead of her.

The girl would simply chuckle behind a grin on her lips as the Suna kunoichi insisted that it was important to stay in the same shape as Kazui. It was a bit flattering, but even though the Uchiha was pretty confident in herself as well as her abilities, she felt as if Ayukawa was giving her more credit than she actually deserved. Nevertheless, she would simply shrug her shoulders in response.

"Well then..we’ll see.” She spoke softly as the two stood in the cold. Why did she want to be Kazui’s rival? The girl felt as if that wasn’t exactly necessary. Kazui didn’t see her as a rival, Ayukawa was more or less an acquaintance than anything, however there was more behind it. She couldn’t exactly put her finger on it, but the more time she spent with the girl, the more she began to enjoy her presence.

However, watching as Ayukawa took the time to stretch and prepare herself for the run, Kazui would shift her weight from side to side, trying to keep herself warm. Nodding as Ayukawa finished, she would ready herself for the run. Ready. Set. Go!

Like a comet the girl would take off alongside Ayukawa, stride in stride. The girl was fast, but Kazui had no difficulty keeping up. Where exactly were they running to, or where was the finish line, Kazui had no clue she was just simply following Ayukawa.

"There was really nothing as exciting as a great run...

Race On

It was even more fun when you did so with someone else....

As the two seemed to take off into the streets, Ayukawa could see Kazui out of the corner of her eye, and she was keeping up impressively. While she had imagined that the girl would be fast, she hadn't considered just how fast she'd actually be. So far, it looked as if she was having no problem whatsoever keeping in time with the swift Sunagakure nin. Still, perhaps that was due to the fact that neither of them were going all out. After all, this was still a public area, meaning that people in the road would prove to be a challenge to avoid if they did go all out.

Which brought to mind one such obstacle...

As a passing wagon seemed to come into their path, unable to realize the incoming projectiles coming toward it, Ayukawa would look over toward Kazui with a grin, jumping to the side as she landed upon the side of one of the buildings. Using her chakra to keep her upon the surface, she'd continue her sprint as she wall ran around the construct, soon leaping back down to the road as she continued forward.

The location that she was heading toward was close, but there was still plenty of time before they got there.

Don’t just weather the storm.

Kazui wasn’t above a little friendly competition, especially when it came to something along the lines of physical training. She was a competitor through and through, so she often enjoyed a good challenge every now and again. Although these conditions weren’t exactly something she would consider ideal to foot race in because of the sleek ice and the annoying snow. One wrong move could send either of the kunoichi sliding into the side of a building, random bystanders who just so happened, or into a vendor stand - and that would be very embarrassing and painful for all parties involved. This was the reason why neither of the two girls were actually going all out, not yet at least. They were still gauging each other’s speed and the texture of the ground in which they were running on.

Out of the corner of her eye Kazui could see Ayukawa’s smile in which she would grin as well, the wagon that was passing by would create an obstacle for the two girls. As Ayukawa decided to jump onto a building on her respective side, Kazui would do the same, but instead she would choose to run across the rooftops, keeping her eyes on Ayukawa as she did so to make sure the girl wasn’t getting too far ahead.

Once the obstacle was cleared, both girls would return to running side by side. Once they reached the end of the road however there would be a left and a right path that split before eventually leading back into one single path again, in the middle there were a group of dead trees scattered around making traveling through it a bit of a pain, but even still it would be much faster than taking either of the paths that were meant to be traveled. So Kazui would simply decide to cut through the middle, quickly leaping from tree top to tree top, trying to best Ayukawa.

Oh, The Places We'll Go
"Woo hooo!!"

The Sunagakure youth was having the time of her life right now, keeping up with the speed of her friend as they once again were making the road their race track as it were. Though still being cautious of the conditions, it appeared that neither of them were indeed going at their fullest just yet. Still, that was enough to make this fun. Seeing the split within the road, there were three different paths now available to them. Though the middle route seemed to hold some trees as their latest obstacle, it still held the most promise of the trio. It was a shared thought that Kazui seemed to have as well, leading to both girls having stuck to the beaten path and began using their skills to traverse through the area.

Moving from one tree to the next, Ayukawa's focus narrowed as it appeared that the two were having to cross each other's path briefly, yet soon realigning back on their respective sides as they neared the end of the tree clearing. That was where she could see their marker. It was a small viewing area, allowing for those within the city to have a better view of the mountainous landscapes frosted over with snow. The perfect finish line.

From their current position, it was only a straight shot to such a point. Now was a good time than any to really put the lead out.

"Final stretch! View point the finish line! Ready Kazui?!"

She'd wait for her to give the word, soon touching down onto the ground as they jumped from the last set of trees. From there, the sand shinobi would take off, her body in full sprint as she blazed forward at her own top speed. Running across the desert had managed to build muscle in her legs and her ritual of doing so constantly made it so she could keep up with just about anyone. At her top speed, the world may very well have been moving in slow motion. But then again, there was still the matter of stopping of course, and there was only so much stable ground in which to allow for a sudden halt.

But that was the risk here, and Ayukawa was so thrilled with this moment that the thought completely skipped her mind.

Don’t just weather the storm.
Dance in it.

From tree to tree, dead leaves rustling and the sounds of footsteps thumping against the bark as the two girls leap with a good amount of speed. This was Kazui’s territory, and it was something she actually enjoyed doing it a lot. Back at home, her land was riddled with trees, she couldn’t go anywhere without seeing many shrubs and plants and things of that nature. It was home, and she’s missed seeing the greenery everyday since she left. Despite that feeling of missing home, the young teen was having the time of her life, even if her demeanor didn’t express it clearly. A small grin curling across her lips as her focus became almost tunnel vision.

Ayukawa was a formidable challenge without a doubt, and it wasn’t really surprising to the Uchiha. So from branch to branch, Kazui would treat the girl with respect and not hold back as much. As the path of trees came to an end, Kazui could hear Ayukawa call out to her. Their destination was just ahead, one last stretch, which meant it was time to give it their all, and with a more evident smile on her face the raven haired girl would nod her head in agreement as she spoke.

"Hai!”

The words escaped her lips just as her feet touched the ground again. She would land on the balls of her feet, her knees bent as her hands were placed on the ground in front of her, absorbing any of the impact of her weight before she would lunge herself forward, reaching her top speed in an instant. Like a shooting star, the girl would blaze down the path alongside Ayukawa, neither one giving an inch. Those who walked on the path would only feel the heavy gust of wind shooting past them as the two genin raced forward with speeds that normal bystanders could not perceive even if they tried.

The ground was icy and slippery, but at this point it was more or less making the two kunoichi move with less friction. With the imaginary finish line just ahead, Kazui would push herself further, but once she passed it, she was unsure if she or Ayukawa reached the target first. Nevertheless, chakra in her feet would cause her to come to a complete stop instantly, to avoid running into anything.

"Well...that was fun, I guess.” The girl voiced softly, acting as if the two didn’t just race across the city.

Oh, The Places We'll Go
"It would be as if the very wind had passed as people in the process of crossing the path were nearly blown back by the speeding Genin.

Each of them were pushing their forms to the limit, giving just as much as they got in return. If Kazui was competitive, than Ayukawa was just as much the same way. She always gave it her all, and she never let herself give any less than her best. This was no different, and with the final stretch now in sight, it was all or nothing. The two girls blurring out of vision as they began their ascent up to the viewing point.

The area was mostly empty, save for a few tourists. Though it appeared that they were all but distracted by the sight of the mountains to notice the two rocketing teens that were propelling themselves up the hill.

It was close, but if there was any clear winner Ayukawa didn't know. She was having so much fun that she hadn't even cared what the end results had been. As they reached their goal, Kazui would seem to have slowed herself down, leaving to the Sunagakure nin to attempt the same, applying chakra to her feet to reduce speed. Sadly, her precision wasn't as accurate to that of her friend. This would lead to a most usual reaction as the girl would find herself stumbling forward, nearly tripping over her feet on the icy ground. Yet, before she could manage to make a tumble, her own grace seemed to kick in for perhaps the first of rare occassions, prompting her body to flip to the side, twisting in mid air as she landed firmly back onto the surface.

A bit of surprised crossed her face, but was soon replaced with glee as she rose up both her arms and yelled out in cheer.

"BONZAAAI!! That was awesome!!! We were like..literally surging through the village like...like...REALLY fast objects!!!"

While Ayukawa was thrilled with the event, Kazui usual demeanor kicked in as she seemed to have had fun, but her statement seemed unsure.

"Oh come on! Ya gotta admit that was amazing!! Its okay to show it!!"

Bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet, she'd almost hop over toward the Uchiha as she held her hand up as if waiting for a high-five.

"We so gotta do that again!! Maybe next time over near the border! Oh oh! Maybe in the woods! Tree hoping is soooo cool!!!"

Lion's Sleep
Hunter instincts and experience on the hunt have granted Ayukawa insight into the minds of the prey she encounters. Animalistic encounters have allowed her to track and be capable of following those that she intends to target, at times giving her brief, but small insight into their intentions. While not fully developed, they allow for her to be less than likely to be caught off guard in a extreme moment, but it isn't as developed as one with further experience in the art.
