They were released, given back all of their things. Toru had never thought he would be so happy to see his sword as he had been today, or his clothes. It fit snug, and the scarf wrapped around his neck smelled familiar. It was good to be back in one's own proverbial skin. Although, that did not necessarily defeat the fact that he was quite tired, and quite beaten up. They would all need to rest, get first aid, and nourishment. But it seemed as they walked out together, they could do some of these things together.

"We could eat as a team?" Toru suggested, not one usually to be the type to suggest this sort of thing, but he was trying to do better. Though, he wasn't sure if he was succeeding as his aura was still quite cold and menacing in its own way, especially now that his hand was back to resting comfortably upon the hilt of Aoi Kiri.

The chilly air of the outdoors nipped at his nose, as he glanced side to side to see if the group would agree to a meal. The cafeteria provided a decent meal. At least, it was decent by his standards, as he had gotten used to eating from literal trash and dumpsters as a much younger boy, so most any food that was not from the dumpster was by default 'good'.

Either way, his stomach was grumbling by now and whether the others agreed to it or not, he was already moving to get straight to the cafeteria and gobble up some grub.

Ryo was in heaven, finally dressed again. The previous garb was easily discarded, bulky and uncomfortable as it was. Comfort aside, she hated the way it looked. Ridiculous, though at least she’d been granted a hood to conceal her face. Now she felt much better, the laughing sneer of her hood cloaking all but her mouth and chin in its shadow. The patchwork cloak didn’t look like an upgrade, but she counted it as one.

More important she too had been reunited with her cherished weapon. The Doomstar now rest over her right shoulder, a length of double edged steel cutting down her front dangerously. Three more points went out in 90 degree angles, the four blades of a rather massive and visibly heavy shuriken. The highest point gave her additional height, causing it to really tower over the girl, making it seem larger and her seem just a little smaller.

She keeps it braced in place with little more than a palm, making it a wonder the thing stays in place so well as it does. It was fixed there almost as solidly as her smile. Finished with rounds one and two she was exhausted, but also exhilarated. Energy was coming in waves, inspiring her to do more even while her body screamed at her to take a nap.

She wasn’t so bad as Ayukawa, of course, a grin flashed in the direction of the others as they exited the building. The poor girl, she probably hadn’t slept in days.

"I could eat.

It was the understatement of the year, a quiet tensing of her stomach being more evident of her hunger. She continues to just smile, though, in spite of the fact. The rush of victory was still strong, as was the anticipation of moving on to the next round. A round where she’d likely lose these new allies she’d had.

It was something of a bittersweet victory, she supposed, but such is the way of competition. She shifts her gaze from person to person, getting a better look at their normal costumes and equipment. It was a much better meeting with them, a better look at who they were.

"I could also sleep. Sleep would be nice, in an actual bed. With actual blankets, after an actual bath in actually hot water… But I could also eat. Had nothin but squirrels for days..

Don’t just weather the storm.
Dance in it.

A sigh of relief escaped her lips as the somewhat familiar faces of her team returned to her location. They look concerned, and they had every reason to be. Kazui was trembling uncontrollably and regardless of how much she tried to pretend to be fine, it was pretty obvious to tell that she was freezing. Her arms remained wrapped around Ayukawa until Toru was kind enough to offer his winter coat. For a moment, Kazui would look Toru in the eyes to see if he were serious, but as she reached out and wrapped herself within the warm clothing, she figured maybe he wasn’t such a jerk after all.

As the team walked side by side towards the exit, each member would be given their equipment back before being allowed to leave. Kazui however would take this time to change back into her normal outfit, the typical clan clothing that she wore, albeit with Toru’s jacket worn on top of it. Still trembling, even though she was a bit warmer than before, the girl would slowly attach all the pouches and her sword around her waist before heading back out to her team. The mention of food seemed delightful, even though everyone was facing their own tribulations. "That’s .. fine with me.” Her words were spoken softly as she began to follow everyone towards the cafeteria in relative silence. The air was cold, and it wasn’t the greatest feeling as the sharp cool wind was the first thing to greet the group as they exited the building.

Upon entering the cafeteria Kazui would take in her surroundings, there weren’t as many shinobi in there as it had usually been the days leading up to the start of the first round. Nevertheless, the Uchiha fell in line, collecting a tray before being served her food. One of the servers would look at the group, noting their tiredness, bruises, scars, and specifically Kazui’s damp hair and unhappy expression, as well as Ayukawa’s exhausted expression. A grin would grow on his face as he realized that they were a group of participants in the exams. The guy began snickering before asking the kids, "Did you guys have fun?” In which Kazui would stare at him blankly for a second before simply walking away. She didn’t have the time to try to figure out if he was genuinely asking or being an ass, although she had a pretty good idea of which one it was. Instead, she would find a seat at one of the tables with the rest of her teammates.

"Mmmhhh...no more eggs maaaaa...I couldn't eat another biteeeeeee..mmmhmmm"

The girl hadn't been too far behind Kazui, hearing the comment of if the group had enjoyed themselves during the exam, her eyes dropping closed as her head bobbed from one side to the next. Honestly, she wasn't even sure how she had managed to make it back after their exams had ended. Her face was tired, her eyes were tired, ever inch of her was tired. Though the smell of food was hard to ignore and perhaps instincts had kicked in. With the tray resting lightly in her hands, she'd feel the sudden shift in weight, prompting her to awaken as she nearly jumped out of her jacket.

"24!! I mean six! I mean...where am I again?"

Eyes narrowed, she'd bow in thanks for the food, drowsily moving toward the others as her head continued to lean from one side to the next. As she finally managed to take a seat, the girl would flop backward upon the ground, eyes closed as for the first time in her life, she wasn't hungry. In fact, fatigue was more of a pressing thought upon her mind as she struggled to rise back up, only to appear much like a fish out of water before laying her body back down again.

As Ryo mentioned how she could sleep, have a bath, but also eat, Ayukawa would groan as she stared up faintly to the ceiling.

"I wanna eat...but everything hurts...my stomach can't even take trying and I eat everything...."

At the very least, the group had managed to get through this part of the exams. But with what they had just gone through, celebration was a difficult thing when you felt as though you had just been to hell and back.

"Can someone just feed me? I'll leave my mouth open if it helps...."

Just think what I could do to you

The team was barely functioning, out of exhaustion, which wasn't all that surprising considering the last... Well, Toru had lost track of time by this point, but a lot of things had happened in the last almost a hundred hours, probably less, maybe more. He couldn't really know or tell. His brain was running on auto-pilot as much as the others as he grabbed up a tray and moved straight into the line, a deadpan look to the male who asked them if they had fun. The urge to impale his skull with his sword passed through his exhausted mind, the image lingering with tired delight until he moved onto the next person in line. On and on, until his tray was full of an array of foods. A warm miso soup, a fried pork tonkatsu, a chopped up cabbage salad that was not particularly colorful but appeared to be covered in a creamy sauce, and hot green tea. All of these things were amicable to his stomach that was at this point, gnawing at him. Eating nothing but chicken sparingly for four days wasn't ideal nutrition.

He was perhaps though, the least hungry and least exhausted of the crew. A bit banged up, but bruises and scratches were nothing new to any shinobi so he almost ignored their existence knowing that they would be fixed up rather soon.

Once the food was acquired he would slide to sit at one of the many cafeteria-style benches and tables made of dark wood. He glanced to Ayukawa who was probably the worst off as she opened her mouth to get fed by someone else. Toru glanced to Kazui, mostly because they seemed to be the closest and he certainly had no idea how he would go about feeding the girl from Sunagakure. If she was too tired to feed herself, how was she going to chew? A lot of questions, but nonetheless he looked to the tonkatsu and started to nibble.

"Something other than cold chicken is welcomed." He grumbled blandly.

Ryo follows the group along to the cafeteria, then begins filling her plate. She’s not shy, a goodly pile of fried pork dumplings pairing beside steamed vegetables. A mound of rice takes up any empty space and she sauces everything up good with anything available. She wasn’t really a picky eater, and right now she was starving. Eating just about anything sounded ideal, especially if it hadn’t been climbing trees and collecting nuts an hour prior. She seeks out the heat, requesting the hottest sauce they have. Something to stave away the chill outside.

She snickers softly as she watches Ayukawa, unsure how she could help the girl. She didn’t need food, she needed to go pass out. Or something with a lot of caffeine.. Or. She sets the Doomstar aside, sitting far enough away from others to prevent the cumbersome weapon from getting in their way. After she’s comfortable she points at her food, then wiggles a finger and motions it over towards the sleepy one. With her mouth open it’d be easy enough to stick a warm and plump dumpling in there, all savory and soft and good. Of course, the hot sauce would probably be noticed shortly afterwards.

Ryo grins, using a fork to eat her own dumplings. She otherwise remains quiet for the moment, letting everyone get settled in before unleashing her normally long winded and talkative self. Besides, she was a little fixated on gauging Ayu’s reaction to heat!

Ryo savored it, she had grown up on such things. Especially in the winter, they lit a fire on the inside that could bring out the sweat on the coldest of nights. Ryo had plenty of experience withstanding the heat of peppers and vinegars and the like, but that didn’t mean everyone did. Regardless of the girl’s tolerance for such things, she was pretty sure, at least, that the surprise alone might shock some energy into her.

Kazui would look to Toru before returning her gaze back towards Ayukawa. The request for someone to feed her was a bit outlandish, but Kazui did know that out of the few of them that she was the closest to the Suna girl, the others being from enemy nations, it would make sense for them to hesitate. However, Kazui wouldn’t do much to help the girl, mostly because she didn’t need to eat, she needed rest. Also she didn’t feel like feeding anybody other than herself. If she ignored her long enough, she would probably fall asleep.

Dark hues shifted to her own plate as she looked over the rice balls, salmon, miso soup, freshly brewed tea, and a glass of water. A deep inhale would take in all the wonderful smells that the food around her had to offer, then the girl would dig in. She would start with the onigiri, taking a small nibble out of it before her gaze returned to Ayukawa. A sigh escaped her lips as she reached over and grabbed ahold of the other girl’s chopsticks. Fine, she would feed her, only because they were used to one another. Using her off hand, Kazui would pick up a vegetable from the girl’s tray using the chopsticks and was going to feed her, until Ryo beat her to the punch. Placing the food back on her tray, Kazui would watch the girl chew, to make sure she didn’t choke and kill herself.

Once there was no danger of the girl choking, the Uchiha would turn her attention back to the mist shinobi sitting across from her. After shrugging her shoulders, Kazui would nod her head in agreement. She was never a huge fan of chicken, so eating it over the course of four days was not delightful to her by any means. "I don’t think I’ll eat chicken ever again.” The girl mumbled as she broke off a small piece of the salmon before taking a bite.

Silence fell upon the group for a moment, and Ayukawa would either feel the burn of the hot sauce or be too tired to realize it. However, if it did start to burn, Kazui would simply sigh before nonchalantly pouring her own glass of water into Ayukawa’s mouth for her to drink. She was here to help Ayukawa regardless of how annoying the girl was, she felt a sense of responsibility to take care of her whenever it was only the two of them.

Thoughts began running through Kazui’s mind for a brief moment, which ultimately led to her asking, "So...What do you guys think the next round is going to be?” She wasn’t concerned, the girl always tackled her obstacles swiftly and without much complaining. However, every corner that could be turned was a mystery especially in these exams. A little speculation never hurt anyone.

"Ahhhhh..Arigato Ryoooooo...."

Slowly chewing, it was perhaps the first time she hadn't simply devoured what was in front of her, mostly due to the fact that she could barely feel her arms. Her mouth at least was working, allowing her to savor the taste of the dumpling as it was popped into her mouth. Eyes closed as she continued to rest them, the sudden kick of the spice upon the object prompted the girl to rise up, her eyes wide as she held her tongue out with clear surprise in her yelp.

"WAHHH!!!"

Though before panic was allowed to rain down upon the small group, Kazui had seemed to expect this, allowing the girl her own glass of water to be poured down her throat, leading the teen releasing a sigh of relief as she fell backward once more. The burning sensation was certainly a new experience, and she had thought she'd prepared for such things by eating spicy foods back home. But that was something completely different, leading to her returning to her position on the ground.

"Thank you Kazuiiiii..."

With her eyes narrowed and a weak smile on her face, she'd hear the mention of cold chicken and then her friend stating how she may never eat such poultry again. In truth, she could imagine how whatever experience each of them went through in those four days might sour something that had at one time been more or less habitual. If anything, Ayukawa realized that expecting herself to be ready for long trips was likely going to require much more preparation next time. Not to mention finding time to sleep.

She had been so worried about missing the door that sleep had only come in small burst. Such a thing had left her almost useless to the group, something that she would never forget. Even now she was relaying on others to help her, and a part of her felt guilty about that.

As the girl lingered in her thoughts, her expression of small joy fading as she considered this, Ayukawa would hear the question of just what everyone thought would be next, leading to the girl speaking out as her voice was a bit raspy after such a hot-take on Dumplings and Vegetables.

"My big brother told me that...a lot of the time they have each participant fight one another...Asahi-san said the same thing...but his was also against a Jinchurriki...."

While it was cool to hear about such an event, seeing it would have been better. Of course, at the time she was still transitioning into being a Genin, so she had missed it. Though if that was what to be expected as perhaps a final test, she wondered just how she would do so with her simply kicking it? Would she even be fast enough?

"Either way...It'll probably be a lot harder than what we just went through...."

Closing her eyes, she'd then begin to allow herself to rest once more, seeming to have closed her mouth as to show that she didn't want them to help her anymore. Perhaps out of her feeling like she had been enough of a burden on everyone.

Kouki was on cloud nine by the end of the second exam. He was the (self-named) trump card of the plan that helped the group finally catch the rabbit in the ice maze. Upon exiting the room, the proctors relinquished Kouki of the backpack containing the rabbit and all other tools that he still had on his person. His original clothes then were offered back to him which he gleefully retrieved. His trademark yellow coat was like home to him if home had sleeves and a hood. As he was in the changing room, his adrenaline must have finally left him as putting on his clothes was becoming an aching chore. He could feel every muscle yelling at him for the almost four plus days of constant survival. Not only that, but there was someone…or rather…something that wasn’t all to happy with him. It was like someone had put an iron blanket on top of the boy…like something was watching him from behind. The vitriol of the beast could be felt all around the genin like a violent vibration. His happy demeanor gone, the boy walked out the dressing room with a cloud over his head. His change would most likely be easily seen by his teammates. The idea of food was never a bad idea, and Kouki mumbled his agreement, still feeling the menacing vibrations he was trying to shake off. Time was like an illusion in that moment. Before he knew it, the group was in the cafeteria, got food, and sat together. He didn’t even notice the one smug character talking to Kazui. He would have typically started a fight there, but the fire in his eyes were just flickering embers at the moment.

He absentmindedly grabbed a random assortment of food. He grew up poor, so food was food. The plate was stacked high though, and Kouki was going to finish every bite even in this emotional state. His eyes looking heavy, Kouki methodically was going through his plate. He was about to get a dumpling in his mouth when the word "jinchuuriki” left Ayukawa’s lips. He froze somewhat, and the dumpling dropped back onto the plate. He forgot that he never told his group that he himself was a jinchuuriki. He felt the need to keep it hidden from his team since he wasn’t sure if that was anything to share with people from other nations. Part of him felt like he might have a target on his back if he was to divulge such info. This all flashed in his head by the time the dumpling made a small thud on the plate which brought Kouki back to the present. He darted his eyes around and took a second attempt at the dumpling. This time he was successful.

Toru watched as Ryo stuck spicy food in the almost sleeping girl's mouth, he didn't particularly care for mischief, and yet he was also not the type to stop it from happening so he just watched as Ayukawa let out a shout when the heat hit her, but at least Kazui was there to pour some water in her mouth. Is that all that friendship was? Pouring water into someone's mouth when they were consuming spicy food from a mischievous villain? He wasn't sure. But, he also wasn't severely acquainted with the concept of friendship. Partnership, yes, but friendship? That was not exactly his thing. So he put another piece of the fried pork in his mouth, chewed and kept on staring at the crew.

Kouki had severely piped down from before, which was odd. What was even odder was his drastic reaction to the mention of jinchuriki. Was he scared of those? Likely for a good reason, but Toru didn't think on it too hard just kept eating. He didn't even speculate what the next round could be prior to this moment, he had no one to tell him and no one had told him. So he was actually quite curious at the concept of combat. It was unlikely to be straightforward as even the last two rounds were not straightforward, and far from what he had studied with Asuka and some other genin back in Kirigakure. All knowledge had to be thrown out the window.

"If it's normally combat, it'll be combat. But I doubt it'll be any straightforward combat... Based on these last two rounds, it's nothing at all like what I was made to expect." He grumbled some bland commentary - as always - and put some salad in his mouth, before sipping at the miso soup. That warmed his insides and he let out a soft sigh, relaxing his shoulders back, he glanced up to the tiled white ceiling and then back to the group.

"I'm barely thinking about what's next, just thinking about sleeping after we eat." He was used to starving, that he could go without, but sleeping? That was a different beast.

Sleep had been easy for Ryo. Even food had been easy for the girl, the entire thing little more than a prolonged camping trip. She’d honestly feasted, testing new meats she’d never tried during her travels. Snake was the easiest to prepare but was kinda bony, though the hyena had a strange taste. She got none of the huge fish she caught, but the squirrel was the most surprising. Hunger is the best spice, but she had no complaints the few meals she sat down to while camping; other than being cold, wet, and dirty.

Really it was easy, though, because the girl spent every last bit of her chakra making it easy. Shadowclone alarm clocks let her sleep easy, and her use of the true transformation jutsu let her soar on wing over more than one biome.. But that chakra. She forked a few steamed vegetables into her mouth without much paying attention, alternating between bites of dumpling and rice. The food was rich, and as the heat built up on her lips, tongue, and throat, she’d begin to quite noticeably glow.

Her face turns red as it flushes from the spices, little beads of sweat forming on her forehead. In spite of the pain, Ryo just smiles with delight, and eats more. A few more bites of the spicy sauce would have her rapping the table a few times with her palm and drawing in a few slow breathes through pursed lips.

"Ohmigod.. Hot.. hot hot..” she mutters to herself, setting the fork down for a moment to sip her water. Not a huge help, but at least it was cool. In spite of the pain she couldn’t help but smile, having a deep seated love for such heat. After a few moments of fanning herself with her hands she calms down. In spite of the show, she never stops smiling, and once she’s collected again she becomes more talkative.

"Probably a fight at some point, but I don’t even know how many rounds are left. Or people. No one’s been disqualified or quit yet, so that’s pretty cool I guess. I thought people were supposed to go home after each round or something, but I guess we’ve got a bunch of A students running around passing all the tests. I don’t think the first round was too hard. Second round woulda been easier if I had chakra left, but once we got working together we got it done pretty quick.

"I dunno, I just hope it isn’t boring. Being out alone for a few days was really boring and depressing and I needed someone to talk to. I don’t like not having people around to talk to. Ended up making friends with a chicken and a dog, and they’re not exactly the best at idle chatter.

She wipes her mouth off with her napkin and takes another drink of her water, done eating. She likely finishes before the others, she is quite the quick eater. She’d always viewed meals as a chore, something she wanted to finish, so she could get back to having fun. Without her parents around to make her clean her plate, she was pleased.

"Did you all come as part of your genin squads?” Subject change courtesy of left field.

Don’t just weather the storm.
Dance in it.

Kazui wouldn’t laugh or even smile at Ayukawa’s reaction, it was a pretty good joke but the girl’s humor was dry and it was hard to get a reaction out of her. After giving the Suna girl the water to douse the heat in her mouth, Kazui would return the empty cup to her tray before waving her hand dismissively. "Hai.” Murmuring softly beneath her breath with a slight nod of her head. It wasn’t a big deal so there was no reason to thank her, so she would return to the food that sat in front of her. Sipping the miso soup to warm herself up, she would then take another bite of the onigiri.

It seemed as if everyone had a pretty good idea of what was to come next, but the only word that she truly listened was Ayukawa’s, since she had talked to people who had participated in the exams before. Kazui herself had been to the previous exams as a spectator, but she left shortly after the first round due to her studies at the academy. "Hmm.” She mused. It made sense however, putting all the genin up against one another, it wasn’t too difficult to believe. But how would they go about it was unknown. They could operate in new teams and fight other teams, or they could fight one another, one by one. And it seemed that Toru agreed. Although he wasn’t thinking much about it, Kazui on the other hand always tried to know what might happen next, it was just the type of girl she was. There were numerous ways to go about it, but one thing Kazui did know was that she would be prepared regardless of who or what they placed in front of her.

Slightly shrugging her shoulders, she would return to eating. Looking around, the girl would notice Kouki’s reaction, eyeing the dumpling as it dropped from his chopsticks and down to his plate. She also noticed that Ryo had already finished her food. Compared to her own plate, it was impressive to say the least, mostly because she didn’t have much and yet this girl managed to finish before her. The thoughts faded however as Ryo asked if they had come to the exams as a part of the group, in which Kazui would simply shake her head from side to side.

"No.”

She voiced gently in her quiet tone. Her teammates were not as ready as she was unfortunately so she decided to move on with the exams by herself. That wasn’t anything new to her, she was used to doing everything by herself so this was no different. She did however come with a lot of friends, so it was okay. The girl had chemistry with most of the leaf genin that arrived, which might have been hard to believe mostly because of her not so friendly and antisocial demeanor.

Grabbing ahold of Ayukawa’s chopsticks again, the girl would grab some rice and look to feed the girl another bite, one with not so much of a kick to it. As she turned her head, Kazui would notice that the girl was keeping her mouth closed. Was it because of the joke Ryo played? Or was it just because she wasn’t hungry? Leaning forward to get a better look at the girl’s face, she would notice her eyes were closed again, so Kazui would simply return the rice to the bowl and place the girl’s chopsticks back on her tray neatly. Instead, she would gently rub her hand in circles on her back, pretty much telling her it was okay to fall asleep.

Ayukawa felt like a loser...

Ayukawa wasn't attempting to be rude...

If anything, this kind of celebration just seemed like the perfect thing for everyone to get along and be friends. She had even briefly sensed that Kouki had come to join them, yet her movement had been limited to no more than her turning to the side as she curled her arms beneath her head.

She may have been at a low point, but perhaps that was simply due to her being tired...

No one was really themselves when they were tired...

As the others continued to speak, she felt something gently rubbing her back, as if she were back at home for a moment. Perhaps she was...maybe this was all just a dream and she hadn't just embarrassed herself completely. The joke had been a good one, though really Ayukawa was just feeling so down on herself for letting everyone down in such a way. Still, the small touch of comfort was enough for the girl to finally allow her mind to stop racing. Her mouth had already done so, which would be strange for anyone that knew her, as she began to get the rest that she needed. In the end, she'd speak only briefly, yet it was soft enough for only one person to hear it.

"Thank you Kazui...."

In seconds, the girl was finally asleep, allowing her dreams to take her back home...back to the desert and away from the cold, and the rain, and the swamps, that four days had allowed her to see and feel first hand.

Still in a sort of a daze, Kuoki was just trying to focus on his food. Although, he did feel weird being overly quiet. At least Ayukawa kind of had an excuse as she essentially fell asleep at the table. He wanted to say something, but he wasn’t really sure what to open up with. That was until Ryo asked about genin teams. Kouki scoffed, coming out of his stupor somewhat. "Teams were never really my thing. Other Yuki genin tended to get in my way…” He took a long sip of his water. Even though he just worked with all of these other shinobi, teams were a sore subject for Kouki back home. He never felt that any of the other genin in his village could keep up and that he always had to do things on his own. Perhaps this situation was different. The whole demographic of these exams were for genin specifically good enough to advance to chuunin. Plus, it was exciting to meet new people outside of the desolate iceberg that is Yuki no Kuni. "You guys are different. Way more interesting at least.” It came off a tad abrasive, but there was an earnest tone to it as well. He meant what he said. These other genin were probably no joke, and he didn’t even meet them at full power.

Toru shook his head to Ryo's question, although he kept a close eye on all of the interactions in silence. It seemed Kazui and Ayukawa were quite close, perhaps they had met before despite the fact that they were in two separate villages that were in truth, nothing alike. From his academy studies, Sunagakure was in the middle of a desert, and from the way Issei had spoken about Konohagakure, it was surrounded by a lot of trees. Nothing one would find in a desert, Toru imagined, although his idea of ecology wasn't exactly top-notch, he knew enough to make these sorts of assumptions. It was an interesting dynamic, not one he possessed with anyone, not even those from his home village. It made him slightly bitter, although internally to make himself feel better as he ate more of the fried pork, he had decided that the niceties were more tied to the fact that they were female, and friends. Not that he was a lonely sod with no friends.

"No, my teammates... Stayed behind." Though he had recalled Asuna had in fact signed up, she had probably dropped out. Either way, he was here and they were not and that was ultimately the answer to Ryo's question.

He ate for a few beats before deciding to ask a question of his own, although it tore at him internally to do so. He didn't like to be the center of attention or talk a bunch but he was trying to be a good teammate.

"Mm, what is everyone's reason for becoming a shinobi?" It was innocent enough but was a good way to get to know others. He didn't really expect an answer for Ayukawa at this point, but if she grumbled something in her sleep he would have taken that as an answer as well. He would wait for everyone to share - or not share - before speaking.

"I don't have a very good one, basic necessity... Although I guess now it's to prove my worth to my ..." He stopped, almost awkwardly his mouth hovering in an open position before he forced himself to keep speaking, "Mother." How awkward, and socially graceful.
