Toil Under the Sun "Soooo many veggies Moment Music Hands held up in the air, the young nin would continue her journey into the farmlands that provided for much of Kaze no Kuni. It was known for having some of the freshest vegetables and fruits, as well as being considered the most important location for produce around. Of course, considering the limited areas that actually held water by a river system, it made sense for it to be of great importance. Lifting her purple shades from over her eyes, she'd blink for a moment in seeing some of the farmers appearing to move passed with construction gear and wooden planks. It was likely they were the group or at least members of the people she was sent here to assist. While she would rather be off with Zakku and Rin, it appeared that Rin had decided to send her off on this particular mission this time around. Still, she didn't know much about construction, only how to build shelters and that was even limited to what was required and holding a hammer. Though with her track-record when it came to tools, her family was hesitant to let her touch them at times. "Still...if they need help...I'm here to help out..." Placing her glasses back down over her face, Aukawa would continue to follow after them, coming upon what looked to be the makings of a canal. It was quite the site, having only ever seen such designs in books and even pictures mostly. She was used to natural rivers, small as they were, but this was one that had been made and designed to allow for a split divide of a water source. It left her speechless to a point, though did little to stop the small squeal from escaping her lips as she quickly covered her mouth with her sleeve covered hands. "Soooo cooooolll! I actually get to help make one of these!! AH! I can't wait!!" Adjusting her sack upon her shoulders, the dark haired female would swiftly rush up to the man that seemed to be in charge, putting her hand up toward her head with a salute and a grin. "Hi! Saeko Ayukawa! Here from Operation Team One to assist in building the water way sir!" The man seemed a bit suprised that it was just her here, looking over her shoulder as if expecting more than just the one girl before him. Of course, before long, he seemed to realize this wouldn't be the case, causing him to sigh as he then moved her arm down. "At ease kid...Look...I didn't realize they'd just be sending one...but if you are here to help, then do me a favor and don't think of me as a commander or anything...I'm just a builder...Now...we clear on that?" With a blank expression, the Saeko would nod as she then began to follow after him as she let her arm settle back at her side.

Toil Under the Sun "Sorry...I didn't mean to... Moment Music "I ain't lookin for an apology...This is something that I expected from some minor workforce, not the freakin Village Hidden in the Sand!" Ayukawa would brush her sunglasses so they were now hanging on the surface of her hair, her eyes blinking as she continued to move after the man. Of course, with his more than rapid movement through the builders, she was dodging and doing her best to stay out of their way as they passed. All the while, she was listening to the rants of the lead constructor, prompting her to frown a bit as she released a breath upon clearing the battle field of swinging planks and heavy concrete. "I was expectin a serious force of individuals that could help me create path ways from the river, but they send me one kid who's barely up to my waist..." "I'm actually pretty strong ya know? Maybe thats why they thought ya just needed me?" Turning around, stopping his moment, the girl would bump right into him, her expression blank as she then showed a sheepish grin. The man either didn't believe her or simply ignored her as he kept to his stride, allowing for Ayukawa to continue her pursuit. From the look of things, the construction effort was already underway, meaning that it was only a matter of making sure everything was in it's proper place. Of course, there were plenty of ways this could go wrong. She had seen similar attempts with her clan in their own efforts to maintain a flowing water supply when they made a temporary camp. It was easier to have one that was consistent, then to risk lives in active pursuit of water in the desert. Anything could happen out there. "Just tell me what to do and I'll do it! I promise!" Holding her hands out with vigor, the girl would wait for a response before then seeing him sigh and then point toward what looked to be a ditch close by. "Alright kid...see that hole there...I need it panned out and straightened into a line so that we can create a proper channel for us to allow for water flow...can ya handle that?" "Definitely!" Pumping her arm back down toward her chest, she'd soon grin as she made her way over, not noticing the older male roll his eyes as she began to head to her intended task. After all, digging holes wasn't so hard. It was covering them that was the hard part.

Toil Under the Sun "Diggin a canal...I can do that... Digger's Pride Hard work was never an issue for a Saeko, and Ayukawa was 100% committed to showing that core value in what she had to do today. Upon coming upon the created pit, she'd lean over the edge and blink for a moment. It was pretty deep, but it was certainly enough to hold an oncoming flood of water once they decided to release it collected river into it. Though connecting it into a proper channel would be a bit of a challenge. Still, she had to take each matter one step at a time. For now, she had a canal to create. Removing her jacket from across her body, she could see the other bystanders looking at her with a bit of confusion and even surprise. She seemed like the only female around at the moment, so perhaps that was the reason why. That or her size. Still, that didn't deter her as she lowered her sunglasses over her face as she could see a shovel down below. Jumping down into the hole, Ayu would slid down as she looked over the side of the wall of dirt. It wasn't to tall, but then again, she imagined that was the point. "Umm...so which direction was he trying to have the canal go?" Looking up at one of the workers, he seemed direct her attention toward what looked like a line of crops, causing her to grin as she nodded toward them. "Thank you!" Picking up the tool, the girl would then narrow her vision as she saw the goal ahead of her, releasing a breath before bouncing up and down. "Okay...Here we go! BONZAI!!!" With that, the girl would start her dig, dirt and rock seeming to fly upward and causing a bit of a stir as some of the people that lingered over her began to move back. It was going to take some time, but it was clear the girl wasn't going to back down from her rapid assault against her targeted goal.

Toil Under the Sun Digging into the earth to create a new way... Working the Earth Ayukawa's efforts were certainly driving her through much faster than most, her strength allowing her a bit of an edge over most normal men as she continued to push through, lifting the contents of soil from the ground beneath her feet, driving it upward as to keep it from gathering at the bottom. With many others starting to join her down below, she'd grin as she could see the team working together to help clear up this particular obstacle. Still, it was far more easy with more than one person doing the work. With an almost unison pattern, the group would continue to dig deep, creating a pathway that would allow for the water to travel through, the length getting further and further as they all took turns to take loose soil up from the hole and to the surface for later use. Time seemed to pass, but it was hardly just reaching the late afternoon as the group had seemed to only stop to refresh themselves with liquid that could only come from nature itself. Handed her own bottle of water, the Saeko would drink some, only to allow the rest to be poured over her head as she shook her body as though she were an animal. Drops of water sank into her hair and shirt, but the cooling method was almost as great as jumping into a small lake. This small moment even allowed her to make some new friends, many of the workers having only seen a shinobi in passing, and some not realizing how young you could be and be considered one. As she was known to love talking, this was perhaps the best part of this mission. As she began to regale the group of some of her experiences, illustrating with her fingertips as she used the palm of her hand to show them her fight against a large bandit. She would even tell them of her encounter with one group within the depths of Kaze no kuni, and the stand off she and her clientele had with that of a sword wielder that showed incredible skill.

Toil Under the Sun Digging into the earth to create a new way... Working the Earth The process of getting some headway within a short amount of time was a grueling one to say the least. But at least she wasn't alone. With everyone working together, they were managing to make the previous hole look very much like a proper dam. It would allow for much of the water to remain contained, yet still give it a way to move once the path was completed. At this point, that was where the team was at. With Ayukawa aiding in this effort, her body moving along with the group as they continued to dig, the Lead Constructor would check in on the progress, seeing her down below and almost appearing surprised by her efforts with the other men. She was just one shinobi, but if one was able to do so much, he was almost even more infuriated that she was all they sent. Soon enough, the light of day was starting to dwindle, prompting a loud whistle to be let out as the workers from all over began to lower their shovels, Ayukawa included as she looked up to see the older male once more. "Alright! Good work everyone! We've almost got ourselves a foot hold. Both teams A and B have started gettin to the water way portion of this thing! Tomorrow! We still gotta get it the rest of the way before we can start working on releasing the flow! But for now...get some food and some rest!" With that said, everyone began to make their way toward camp, the young girl releasing a breath as she began to rise up from the pit. Yet before she could get too far, the older male would stop her as he shifted his gaze to the side. "Look...this ain't exactly a place for a young girl...you'll be resting with the women's camp close by...they'll take care of ya....just make sure to report back here in the morning..." "But..." Ayukawa would glance over as she could smell the food cooking in the other camp, her mouth almost drooling before finding herself being shuffled in the opposite direction. "Go...just make sure not to oversleep! No good to us late kid..."

Toil Under the Sun Digging into the earth to create a new way... A safety measure no less, Ayukawa would follow the instruction of the lead builder, making her way down the shadowing path toward the more light filled area. She had not seen many females working within the area she had been stationed, so it surprised her to see more among her as she drew closer to the resting area. They all seemed just as built as she was, many seeming to have taken to the task of construction as easy as she had. If not better. As they gathered around a small fire pit, the young girl would join them with a grin as they welcomed her over with kindness. Seeing such female influences was not rare for Ayu, but it was nice to be among them. They all seemed to have different reasons for being out here, from previously working the fields, to simply wishing to help better the lives of their community. As Ayukawa explained her own origins, the raging fire lighting her face as she spoke, the group seemed to be a bit inspired by her tale, even some asking just how she managed to come so far away from home and not seem the least bit home sick. It wasn't completely true. Or at least the statement wasn't. As absent minded as the girl could be, there were plenty of moments in which she did miss her family and clan. She missed the open space of travel, not knowing what the next day would bring. She missed the smell of fresh meat grilling upon a small fire, the harsh winds that scratched at her cheeks when she ran with the other members of her clan during the hunt. She found herself missing her mother, who would rise her each morning just to be sure that she was prepared for the day of activities. Sunagakure had taught her to be a bit more independent, but it could be lonely at times. She was one of the few members of her clan on active duty, and seeing one was just as rare a sight as this one...

Toil Under the Sun Digging into the earth to create a new way... Though this was a nice distraction from such thinking, allowing for the young girl to joke and talk as she usually did with hard working individuals. Their conversation seemed to go all the way into the night, though eventually the eldest of the females would suggest that they all go to bed, prompting the group to split into their dwellings for the evening. With Ayukawa sharing a tent with three others, the young girl would find rest in the comfort of her sleeping bag, the weary of the day allowing for an all to gentle sleep with little interference. Yet with the rise of the sun, the beating rays of light flicking through the opening of the campsite, the site would once again fill with the sounds of creation. Ayukawa would return once more to the ditch, joining the others once more in their efforts to great a new water way. The task was much easier now that they had broken ground. It was now the process of creating the path. With everyone in her group working together, the length of the soon to be river grew longer and longer. Each unearthed portion being lifted over the side, each pile being taken to another pile. The sound of shovels and calls of instructions resonating through the site. With the sweat beading down the side of her face, Ayukawa continue to push through the fatigue that often plagued those after long hours of work. If anything, this was an more physical training exercise, one that tested both muscle and mind. Before she even realized it, it was time for their shift break, allowing for another group to take over, while the rest was allowed a moment of rest. Taking hold of her bottle of water, the girl would consume the liquid as the chief builder would approach the group yet again. "Congrats everyone! We got ourselves a waterway...we're nearly there! We only have a few more feet to dig through. From there, we can start with the release of the dam..."

Toil Under the Sun Digging into the earth to create a new way... The end was in sight...just a few more feet? No problem... Or at least, that was how the young Suna girl felt... With everyone working together, the group would seem to break off once more into the pit, their strength united in their effort to create that final push. Once they were finished, they could finally get to more interesting process of the job, releasing the water and allowing for a new pathway of water to help with the further production of crops for Kaze no Kuni. To be a part of such a group effort was almost inspiring and it felt good. It was one of the few times in which Ayu really felt like she was making a difference. It wasn't in a way that was harmful to her morals, or simply even cruel in ending the life of another. It was sustaining something that was established and keeping it flourishing for years to come. Each person seemed to have a similar idea in mind, the sweat dripping from their brows as they all dug in, keeping up the tempo and trying to make their way to the other side. Inch by inch, beat by beat, drive coming in full force as they strove to break through. The end was in sight, the connection to the previous team's work was getting closer and closer. Ayukawa could see it, and she nearly cheered out loud at their nearing it's point. Of course, she soon remembered what her job was and kept at it all the more. Only a few more feet...a few more inches...and finally...the last drive of her shovel would seem to hit....nothing...nothing but empty space and air.

Toil Under the Sun Digging into the earth to create a new way... They did it....the circle was complete...the path was made... Looking over as she could see the open space ahead of them, Ayukawa could only join the others as they cheered in celebration. It was as if they had won a war with how much everyone was laughing and jumping. Even she was no exception, bouncing up and down as she felt the pushing and yelling in joy at the accomplishment that had been made. The path for the new water way was finally completed. It was over, or at least the digging part of it was. With everyone seeming to be doing what looked like a celebratory lap around the path, the lead builder would seem to laugh as well before calming everyone down. "Alright alright! Hah hah! Good work everyone! Now get outta there so we can open this damn and get water in here!!" Everyone would begin to ascend out of the almost valley like water way, Ayukawa being helped out as well as she looked along the edge and could see the design. It was if looking at the formation of a river, the sight was incredible and hard to believe at the same time. This was going to provide for so many people, so many families. Maybe even the Saeko Clan would benefit from it as well. With the young girl stretching her arms into the air, she'd feel a hard pat against her back, prompting her to grin as she could see the older male whom she met before smiling down at her. "Nice work down there kid..." "Heh heh...Thanks...so whats next?" "Now we get the water in...come on..we gotta check on how things are going with the dam..." That seemed to be her cue to follow once more, grabbing her jacket from the ground as she quickly made way after the builder.

Toil Under the Sun Digging into the earth to create a new way... Honestly, the sight of such a vast amount of water was enough to make the girl want to jump into it. But resisted the urge as she knew that this was meant for far greater things than for her to cool off. As the reflection of the sun shown down upon the blocked and contained liquid, the Head builder would signal for the rest of the group to prepare for it's release. It was a act that was much similar to the usage of explosive tags, yet the compact devices being used for this looked much more gathered in bulk. They were crimson in color, cylinder in shape, and gathered into a bundle as a means perhaps for a collective blast. As many began to remove themselves from being so close, Ayukawa would do the same, looking on from a distance as one man began to prepare for the lighting of a match. Before long, a strand of string was ignited in flame, the burst traveling along the length of the thread as it inched closer and closer the attached bundle and the wall that had held the river at by. The time was seemed to tick endlessly, each motion seeming to prove all the more suspenseful. Yet as soon as it appeared that the light was going to finally reach it's mark, it stopped, prompting many that had crowded in on her location to groan and sigh at the fact that this was once again, a failed experience.

Toil Under the Sun Did....did it work?" Ayukawa would blink as she asked this question, the others seeming to move around as they began to inspect the thread, soon seeming to work toward reattaching yet another one as they began to work once more on the explosive. As the Lead builder would rub his head, he'd frown as he tossed his arm in the air before speaking once more to the young girl. "Damn Western mechanicals nonsense! They said that this stuff was supposed to be as effective as ten of those ninja tags...not to mention safer...We intended on using it to help break down the dam and releasing the water flow...only now..." Seeing the wick had clearly been shortened out halfway, Ayukawa would tap her forehead for a moment and then hold up her hand as if she were asking a question. "Well..can't we just use explosive tags?" "Ya got enough of em to break down ten layers of build up?" "Whats build up?...ya mean like gas?" The older male would simply shake his head, walking away as the Suna girl was quick to follow. After all, she was hired here to assist, and so far no one had given her anything else to do. If anything, everyone was just waiting for the barrier to be brought down and to finally allow for the river to flow into the new passage way. Of course, that wouldn't happen if the explosive didn't work. As she walked by the wall, she'd look over at the bundle of crimson sticks, her eyes narrowed as she lifted up her sunglasses for a better look. They certainly didn't look like they'd be capable of taking down much. But then, she wasn't a builder. Maybe they held a special kind of chakra, or perhaps they were made for more explosive release of energy? In the end, the Saeko could only get a few moments of observation before she had to quickly try and keep up with the rapidly moving builder, looking only one more briefly before returning to her main focus.

Toil Under the Sun So..what do we do now?" Ayukawa would ask this question once she finally caught up to the man, seeming to have returned to his work bench as he started to look over the designs of this explosive device yet again. It looked as though it wasn't too complicated, yet as the girl took a closer look, he would seem to pull himself back as he began to rub his temple. "I gotta figure out what went wrong, maybe then we can blow the dam and finally have the water going and be set. The village is counting on this...the whole damn country is counting on this..." With his mind seeming to be wrapped around just what he could do, Ayukawa would look over to the dam and blink as she began to consider the structure itself. To hold that much water at bay, it had to be strudy and strong. Not to mention thick. It anything, if she wanted to try and attack it physically, it might very well leave a dent and maybe even a slow enough crack to allow for the wood to break and splinter off. Of course, if she wasn't in enough control of her strength, she could just as easily get swept away within the current, and that would be bad. Not to mention, it would mean her breaking her word of being more careful about her own health...Something she wouldn't do...not to Issei... "Okay...so with the explosive tags...maybe...maybe if we put perhaps three around the area of the explosive, that might be enough to ignite it right?" "Three?! Hell! That would blow a damn crater where the wall would be and just have all of us wet!!" He was quick to shoot down the idea, but as he thought more on it, it seemed as though something was starting to swirl around in his head. An idea perhaps...Ayu wasn't sure. But soon enough, it seemed as if he was smiling.

Toil Under the Sun Owchhhhhh...ow ow ow ow ow..." Ayukawa had managed to stop the log, but her hands were badly blistered as she felt the sting of the wood against her palms. Setting in with the fact that she had taken on such a task, she could have faired far worst if she had been lacking in strength. Looking over, she could see people staring at something as she soon began blowing on her hands as if to ease her pain. With her walking over toward the pit, she'd see the water flow had already begun, with everyone witnessing the event in awe and surprise. The clear liquid would flow through the pathway that they had all created, making it's way through the village as it moved through the canal with ease. It was...beautiful... As she continued to stop and stare, people around her seemed to move alongside the path, herself included as the water continued to shift and move on it's intended course, stopping short at a split as it broke off in different directions. "Amazing...." "It sure is..." Seeing the Head Builder moving up beside her Ayukawa would grin as she felt his hand rest upon her shoulder, nodding down at her as they continued to see the results of their efforts. There were many things within this world that could bring some semblance of accomplishment. As Ayukawa would continued to look on, her expression of awe would return while she shook her head. "This...this feels good..." It was the only thing the girl could say, holding one hand to her heart before then flinching as she felt the blisters touch against the cloth of her shirt, prompting her to hiss as she then turned to see the head builder prompting for her to follow after him. "Come on kid...lets go get those hands looked at..ya more than deserved a trip to the medical area..."

Toil Under the Sun Run run run run!!" Sliding across the surface of the ground, she'd wait till she had managed to find cover close to the head builder, looking over to the site as she clicked her teeth. From there, the eruption began. The rumble of the broken wood and splintering content would explode from the center, allowing the logs to fly as anyone would expect from such a reaction. It was amazing, and also terrifying in it's own way. As Ayu would watch, she'd note the direction in which the logs were falling, prompting her to realize one was coming directly toward them. The heavy descent was swift as it curved and twisted within the air, yet as it prepared to impact the area where they laid, the young Suna nin would quickly take hold of the older man, using her speed to quickly move them to the side, narrowly missing the log as it crashed down. Her expression was a bit off-putting, almost surprised. Yet as the older male looked toward her, she'd flash her usual grin before then making her way over to the side as she could see another log falling toward the camp. Her strength seemed to aid her a bit as she moved toward it, her hands extended outward as the impact clashed against her frame, pushing her back as she felt the sand shift beneath her feet. Sliding along the surface, she'd feel the blow against her body before seeming to make it a few feet back.

Toil Under the Sun Right...Thanks" Back to the Desert Being walked over to the medical wing, Ayukawa could observe the impact of just what had been done here. She could see villagers coming out from their shelters nearby, people gathering near the water's edge as they began to look upon the fixture and even begin scooping some of it to prepare for their duties of the day. After all, life did need to progress and they had to prepare crops for the next harvest. Sunagakure thrived off the work of everyone coming together. There was so much that could be done because of this improvement, though that was likely a tale for another time. For now, it seemed that the girl's job was done. As she felt the soft and tender hands of the medic work upon taking care of her injuries, she'd soon begin the process of bandaging her palms and soon sending her on her way. What remained to do now was only the simple part of saying farewell, her hand waving back toward the group with a grin as she proceeded out into the desert. The trip back to the village would be more than a bit long, making her wish that she not eaten all of her snacks during her time here late at night. "Awww man...no food...huh?" With a blank expression, the girl would reach into her pocket to find a small note, along with the slender shape of a carrot attached. Reading the message of thanks, the girl would giggle lightly as she began to take a bite from the narrowed end of the vegetable, leading to her marching onward as the soft crunch of her munching echoed behind her.
