It had been roughly a good few months after the exams had ended and Taki was back in Kirigakure for a few days as the Chunin made her way inside she’d notice that it looked as if preparations were being made in order to repair the collapsed wall. That thing had always been an eye sore ever since she got in the village, good to see that the place was finally getting itself back on its feet.

As she made her way through the streets dressed in a long duster along with an updated look to her leotard with the addition of fishnets and some other new gear. She’d notice that the place seemed a lot more stable, cleaner dare she even say bustling much less like the poverty stricken place she’d seen some time before obviously it wasn’t perfect but it was getting there.

Today’s mission was rather standard faire she was tasked with guarding a convoy and taking them to one of the ports at the far end of the village whilst being instructed to be on the lookout for trouble, nothing too crazy. But as she made her way to the Mizukage’s office to meet up with her partner she’d have this dreading feeling in the back of her mind, she and Kasumi hadn’t exactly ended on the best of terms after their big blow up and was very certain that the two were on the outs.

The wound wasn't exactly fresh but It still hurt the girl took the time since then to at least try and learn from what she had been told, especially now with her appoint as the sage of Iwagakure. But now wasn’t exactly the time to focus on her feelings but she wouldn’t lie and say it wasn’t on the back of the blonde’s thoughts and who knows they just might end working together again?

The caravan was set to arrive in about 20 minutes and Taki had arrived first it would seem, during that time she’d take a moment to summon forth one of her summons her small companion Aki Aki. "Looks like we’re first.” she’d say leaning against the wall arms crossed waiting for her partner to arrive, as the morning sun came over the Kirigakure horizon, her silver belt shining in the dim sunlight.

There is only one path left to take.

Kasumi was far from thrilled with her latest assignment. She'd have to go with Taki, the girl that she had been actively avoiding for the better part of the last few months. That was much easier considering how far their two villages were, at least. Why the Hell was she even in Kiri though? Was she stalking her? The thought made Kasumi grumble low.

"You're here." She'd call out to Taki as she approached. The girl definitely looked different, while Kasumi still kept the same style. "Great."

Her tone was cold and impassive, not revealing her thoughts on the situation much at all. They were on a mission, after all. This was hardly a time to play any silly games.

"The convoy should be here. You want to take the lead or guard the back? Might be a few bandits or animals to deal with but I don't imagine much worse."

Kasumi had dealt with bandits before and found them little trouble. Hell, if anything they were just a slight inconvenience. Before they got too much further along, Kasumi would give a blank stare to Taki, wanting to get one thing off her chest.

"Remember this is a mission. Not a game to play between us. Leave that crap where it is. We have work to do."

The convoy could b spotted in the distance, closing in on them now.

Kasumi has become known for her strange chakara form. When in a dire situation, she is capable of releasing her chakra, which in turn takes a strange color unlike the normal blue color of chakra, and takes the form of a demonic cat figure. She is then enveloped in a demon shroud.

As the girl stood waiting she’d spot Kasumi in all of her scantily clad glory. "Ahh...shit." the girl would think, her greeting was cold and impassive like always. The girl wasn't too sure how to reply too it "Kasumi…good to...uhh see you, you haven't changed at all.” the girl would say trying to play everything off she headed towards the gate with her the caravan would arrive, there was no point in squabbling.

"You’ve got slightly sharper senses then I do…so you take da front I’ll hold up the rear but something tells me we’re going to find ourselves getting surrounded at some point.” the girl would say taking some of her hair and moving it out of the way of her eyes. As they kept going Kasumi would also add one other spiking remark. "Sounds like your the only thinking about it if you have to bring it up." she'd say looking back at her.

"By the way here…" The girl would toss the cat a water bottle the same one she’d gotten her some time ago that she’d forgotten in the hospital. "There’s a new formula in there burning powder, see if it might be of use to you anyway let’s go.” with that the caravan would arrive.

After the introductions were made the two would begin their descent into the Kirigakure wilderness towards the port city. Taki kept her small sage animal on stand by to gather sage chakra if necessary, thought given the nature of the mission it was unlikely.

There is only one path left to take.

Kasumi decided not to respond to the comment that Taki made, mostly to avoid giving her the satisfaction. It was petty, really, she thought. All she wanted to do was make sure they'd get the mission off without a hitch, not make a whole thing.

Taki was always going to be difficult, it seemed.

Kasumi was about to give up when the girl gave her a new formula for the burning powder. Kasumi took it with a nod. The jutsu was impressive, so she was sure she'd get a use of it.

"Thanks."

She said simply, then looked back to the clients. Taki introduced herself as the gorilla sage. Something Kasumi didn't think too highly of.

"Momochi Kasumi." She chose to leave out her title as the Demon of the Mist. "You'll be in good hands. I'll watch the front, Taki the back. More stops would make more risks, so hopefully we don't stop much."

With that, Kasumi would lead the caravan into the wilderness, her hand resting on her sword. Her free hand would be making hand signs as practice. She wasn't good enough to completely rely on that, not yet, but he was capable enough. Ideally she wouldn't need to even use it, though. Perhaps she should summon her own bears to match Taki's silly little monkey?

She decided against it. The bears were useful, but she trusted her own two hands the most.

After introductions were made they proceeded in silence as they made their way along the roads. Taki would take this time to allow her small chimp companion to gather sage mode energy for her as the two of them walked along. There were small rustling which put the girl on alert for a moment but after a brief second the only thing would appear would be a small animal which would come out and she’d pay it no mind. As this went on the girl would glance over at Kasumi.

"Sheesh I get being alert but she’s always so jumpy, but then again it does take time to draw that thing.” Taki looked over at her small chimp who was meditating and then over at their caravan passengers for now all was well and good nothing out of the ordinary for the time being the roads were fairly clear must be a testament to how much better things were progressing in Kirigakure it was always nice to see.

She wanted to ask Kasumi about it, but figured now might not be the best time, for now they went along in relative peace, however Taki would preemptively take a swig of her water bottle just in case, keeping a little bit of the substance at the ready in case she needed it. The caravan was rather small maybe a few people most of them holed up inside of a cart being pulled via horse drawn carriage.

There is only one path left to take.

Kasumi took the walk as a chance to take in how much Kirigakure was actually improving. She had buried herself in training, particularly the one handed seals, that she hadn't had the time to really just take it all in. Toru was up to a lot with his leadership, it seemed. Getting the Chuunin Exams and that boost in income. Rebuilding the walls.

She couldn't help but feel a sense of pride, even if none of this was really her doing. She was just here for it.

They'd walk for a bit of the way rather peacefully. All good things, though, had to end. The peace was interrupted by the loud howl of a rather hungry looking wolf.

Strangely it seemed to be alone. Kasumi held a hand up to stop the caravan.

"Oi, eyes up Taki!" She'd call back, staring at the creature. Kasumi would make a hand sign with one hand, then spitting a mouthful of water at the beast. It'd scurry back, looking like it was retreating. Kasumi thought she had avoided the conflict by scaring it, but what Taki would see and she wouldn't would be two more wolves slowly walking up about 20 feet behind her.

There was a reason they sent people out in pairs, at least.

As the kept moving Taki would keep herself vigilant as her small sage chimp would gather sage mode energy in the event she needed it, after a moment she’d hear Kasumi call telling her to keep her eyes up. "You got it!” hearing the wolves come towards the caravan the girl would turn about spewing her mist towards one of the animals blinding it and causing it to flee.

After a moment the other would lunge towards her, she’d then smack it with a punch stunning it with an electric jolt causing it to whimper as the small creature ran back into the woods with its tail between it’s legs. "All clear…” she’d call back, wringing out her wrist.

With that the girl would continue on her way keeping an eye on the caravan making sure nothing else was amiss some of the members of the caravan would look rather shaken by the appearance of the animals but with these two on the case there was nothing in particular to fear but they needed to be careful wolves might not be their only worry. Taki didn’t think it was a serious concern at the moment but would keep her eyes peeled, just in case. By this point they’d be about halfway towards their destination, and were nearing the edge of the forested area but there was still time for surprises.

The wolves were swiftly dealt with by the two Shinobi, which was no surprise to Kasumi. Simple wildlife was common on a C ranked mission, but she knew both herself and Taki were more than strong enough to handle something that simple. Especially if Taki chose to use that crazy power up mode. Something that Kasumi didn't fully understand, but was definitely intimidated by. She'd never say that out loud, though.

"Nice work, Taki." She'd call back, trying to assure the civilians in the cart that this was a run of the mill type of situation on a mission. If they looked as professional as possible, maybe it would ease the nerves.

It seemed to work at least a little bit. They were halfway there, though, so there wasn't much further to go. Kasumi would keep her eyes up and her hand resting comfortably on her sword once more.

"Not much further. Just keep your heads about you, guys. You're in good hands."

Kasumi again tried to reassure. She knew that on most missions, everything that could go wrong tended to go wrong. Ahead of them could be more wolves, or even bandits.

Again, if she weren't so confident in her own and Taki's abilities she might even be worried.

As the two made their way forward everything seemed to be going swimmingly. Aki however was still on guard as they got close to the end of their journey it almost seemed like their destination was in sight, however Taki would hear something it sounded like a creaking noise. It would cause Taki to raise a brow considering how close it sounded, was something coming? And just them bam. Taki would go on the alert but after a moment would note that it was actually just a wheel breaking after rolling over a stone.

She’d look down at it. "Damn it…” as the girl leaned down near it. "Yo you guys busted a wheel…” one of the men from the caravan came out to examine it, Taki would look back towards the surrounding area with this new development they were sitting ducks. Not wanting to leave them out in the open the girl opted to turn towards the forest and look around hearing rustling. After a scant moment a kunai would be thrown in her direction, thinking quickly Taki would summon her chair in order to block the weapon.

After it clanked stabbing itself into her weapon she’d hear the sizzle of paper and would toss it into the forest resulting in an explosion that would blow out a bloodied piece of metal that would skid along the ground, realizing that there was an obvious threat Taki would ready herself for a fight, Taki would take in some of the sage energy granted to her by her small companion.

"Thanks buddy…” she’d look over towards Kasumi, but not before letting out a small pulse of sage mode energy, in an attempt to try and scan for potential enemies, using her animalistic danger sense a technique she'd been attempting to work into her repertoire, this image was blurry and barely provided any clarity but gave her a glimpse that something was there like a poorly flickering light switch. "Ready up Kas…” she’d look to the girl. "Trouble’s coming.” something Kasumi might notice if she wasn’t paying attention is that Taki's features were less animalistic in nature, looking more human like instead of monstrous, clearly she'd been practicing.

There is only one path left to take.

After the wolves, it seemed like there might be smooth sailing. That didn't stop Kasumi from staying on guard, though. It was lucky that she did, when there was a clash and clearly the cart had broken a wheel. Kasumi spit to the side, eyeing the treeline as Taki warned the people inside.

"Something always goes wrong..." she grumbled, squinting at the surrounding area, "was it a trap, though?"

As if to answer her question, a Kunai came flying from the trees towards her. She'd deflect it herself, sending it towards the side with her sword. They had an explosion tag on it too, though, and Kasumi only grunted in annoyance. The explosion next to her caused her to stumble a bit, but she had been hit with these before and it was far from direct. Scrapes and cuts on her left arm holding the sword, but nothing serious.

"Tch." They were hiding, but luckily the cart wasn't damaged. With her right hand, Kasumi would again try the one handed seals. Guarding the cart a wall of water would rise just in time to block two more kunai from going towards the wards they had.

"Won't be that easy for you, though. Taki, you able to take care of them? I'll guard the cart."

Kasumi would ask, then turn towards the passengers.

"Can you fix that wheel? Don't worry. Nothing is getting passed me."

After Taki would watch her chair slide towards them and ready herself to go, Another Kunai would come their way only for Kasumi to raise her hand with a singular handseal causing a wall of water to form and block the kunai from clashing with them. Taki was caught by surprise and then looked to Kasumi noting she only had one seal set up which was something she'd never seen before. "She did dat shit with one hand?” after a moment Kasumi would give the order for her to move forward and without hesitation she’d move around the pillar of water darting away in a quick flash towards their adversaries, but not before dispelling her small little summon who would flip over the wall of water and stay near Kasumi.

Upon arriving inside she’d see the carnage of a bandit who had his neck sliced by the shrapnel and another group of bandits about 3 they noticed her and weren’t sure what to think. "What the hell is that.” another Kunai was thrown which the girl was struck by but she managed to dislodge. Moving as quickly as she could she made her way towards the first shinobi and smashed him with a stiff elbow shot to the face, knocking a few of his teeth loose and keeping him on the ground as he squirmed from the caving in of his face.

His comrades seemed rather spooked but before one could move Taki would dart towards him smashing him with a powerful punch to the face that would cause him to crack the back of his head into a tree his expression would freeze as his head slid down the branch of the tree a smear of blood following behind. Frozen by the ghastly sight one of them would begin to run taking note of this Taki would charge him down tackling him and smashing him into the pavement in front of the water wall.

The impact of the landing knocking him out as the force from her shoulder colliding with his back would injure his spine, he’d attempt to turn over and try to wrest himself free but Taki would place her hand on the back of his neck and use her grip to snap his neck. With the danger passed she’d stand up letting out a pant or two, looking to Kasumi with a thumbs up. "All clear…” she’d nudge her head towards the caravan member. "How’s that wheel looking…?” there was a visible trail of blood on her shoulder but the girl wasn't feeling it at the time, adrenaline still running high.

There is only one path left to take.

Thankfully, everyone seemed willing to listen to Kasumi without sass. Even the civilians. They piled out of the wagon, fixing the wheel as if their lives depended on it. Which very well might have been the case. Kasumi kept an eye on the trees, narrowed and ready. A kunai erupted from a bush, but Kasumi was quick to deflect it. She ignored the frightened whimpers from behind her as she made another hand seal with one hand.

From the ground, a water spear erupted and went towards the bush. There was a yell and a bandit fell forward. Barely alive, but losing enough blood that that would change soon.

"Hn." She grumbled, eyes catching Taki walking out of the woods shortly after. She'd spot the injury and raise a brow. It looked minor enough, though.

"Coming along well, it seems." She'd say, looking back at the workers who seemed just about finished. They could be on the road again soon.

"Always something in these parts. Tch. Let's get them to where they need to go before more crap goes wrong."

Kasumi would grab into her bag and pull out a cloth, brushing off her own scrapes she received from the explosion tag she was clipped by.

As Taki stood up from off of the crook she'd notice the spooked expressions of the others. "Something happen here?" as she stood there it looked as thought the wheel was in the process of being repaired and was nearly done. While this went on Taki would look to the wound on her shoulder after the adrenaline wore off and would place her hand on it funneling some of her senjutsu chakra into the wound to heal it up. It wasn’t exactly a deep cut but it was something an enemy could take advantage of and she wasn’t about to let that happen.

As this happened The wheel would be reapaired with one of the men saying they were good to go allowing the duo to continue. "Let's switch it up I'll take the front and you head to the back cool?" she'd say moving on ahead. "Nice work by the way” the girl would say shooting her a thumbs up from the front of the caravan. It was clear that Kasumi had been practicing her craft and it was good to see.

From there Taki would keep on guard of the caravan making sure that there was no one else coming with Kasumi taking up the rear she doubted there would be much else that they'd need to worry about thankfully and eventually the trio would arrive at the port town all that was left now was to show them the way to the port and that was a wrap.

Taki asked if something happened, and Kasumi gestured with her head to the guy hiding in the bushes. Nothing too crazy, in her eyes, but the inexperienced charges they had with them were easily shook it seemed.

"Nothing worth talking about. You got them all, no runners?" She asked to confirm. Not that she doubted Taki had taken care of it. With that weird power, it'd take someone exceptionally strong to stop her from assaulting them. "They'll calm down soon."

Taki suggested they switch spots and Kasumi would agree. She wasn't sure why, but maybe the change of scenery would keep them both a little more on their toes at least. Things were going now that the wheel was fixed. Kasumi would keep her sword drawn, slung over her shoulder.

Maybe the intimidating sword in the hands of a shinobi was intimidating enough to deter the bandtis from striking again. Either way, the group made it to the village unharmed.

"Yeah. We did good here, Taki. Maybe we still have some chemistry with this kinda stuff."

It felt weird to say. She reached her pinky into her ear as if she wasn't even thinking about the phrase. More thinking about the fact that they had gotten the mission done and done right.

As the two of them made their way towards their destination the rest of the walk went mostly smoothly. Taki hearing her comment about chemistry would illicit a slight response from the girl. "Yeah sure…I couldn’tve asked for a betta partna.” the girl would say, to Taki there was seemingly an implication there but she couldn’t exactly be sure maybe she was just saying things whatever it was it was nice to here that she still considered to be a good working buddy.

After sometime they’d arrive at their destination Taki would let out a whistle as they made their way towards the town. "Nice looking port.” it was well put together and looked almost like it could be tourist trap, nice blue skies calm waves that Taki hardly had the luxury of getting to see. It was almost crazy to know that a place this beautiful was home to village with some of the most ruthless bandits, animals and shinobi known to man, if only they knew the dangers that awaited them outside of it all.

Once there they’d help them unload and let them get on board the ship to head off to their destination, all in a days work. "Well job well done…so what now?” she’d look over at Kasumi wondering what they’re next move was at this point she was set and ready to go but she’d let her decide for the most part thought mission complete.
