Anticipation

It was good to be back in Kaminari no Kuni and to return to her home in Kumogakure. Her plants having been thankfully watered by her neighbor one floor down in return for the many times she'd cared for their plants in return. However with the Chuunin exams looming Azarea had no time to rest if she wished to be prepared to face her opponents and in a Iwagakure no less where while she would not have as large of a target upon her back as Konohagakure there would be many hoping to see her fail. She needed more equipment, more jutsu scrolls, just more if she hoped to succeed and such things cost money. Something that thankfully could be earned and her skills in this case were absolutely perfect for the mission at hand.

Though in this case she found herself more interested in her partner. One Kazuhiro Hayato. Her newest neighbor and man of mystery. Humming to herself Azarea shifted on her feet, mission pack strapped to her back, as she rocked back and forth on her heels. The red haired woman's mane of crimson hair a good deal longer and shaggier then last seen, her teeth a good deal sharper, and eyes a bit more wild and lively for her prior journeys. Her skin having lost the pale almost sickly pallor left over from her time stuck behind a desk or within a hospital room. Replaced by a light tan and healthy glow. Travel appearing to have been good for the woman.

[attr="class","dibody2"] Missions were not as common nowadays than during the days of his youth. He didn't resent that. It was simply a product of time and of his position. And for whatever the village needed, he would be there to offer his service a loyalty. As he remained knelt in the darkness of his spartan quarters, his gear arranged before himself in an almost ritualistic manner, he drew in a breath, eyes closed as he remembered the details of the mission, the objective and its difficulty. He could see some of his subordinates seeing this as beneath their talents. That a mission this low was fit for a newly minted genin. In truth Hayato didn't care. A mission was just that, a mission. Nothing more, nothing less. The only thing that changed was the degrees of difficulty and even when he had to be taken away from his more administrative duties he would give his best for this mission. Had he been more skeptic or fell into a conspiranoic theories he would have thought that this was the village's way to tell him that it was about time for him to accept a retirement as a member of the council. The village needed him and that was that. Opening his eyes he would look at his gear. Quietly collecting in a silent symphony of clicks and clack as everything was placed in holsters, pouches. Leaving only one item from his usual gear that he didn't need this time. The mask stared at him with hollow eyes and he could only to do cover it and leave it on top of his bed. Calmly he turned away and marched silently out of his room, leaving the only living being in left to be the cacti that his neighbor and now mission companion had gifted him. Greetings

As Hayato came into view the red headed woman noticeably perked up. A fanged smile lighting up her face warm and beaming at the sight of her dark haired and dark eyed neighbor safe and looking none the worse for wear as she waved the man over. 'Honestly it'd be a tragedy for Kumogakure to lose an ass that cute,' she thinks with a playful smirk before calling out to him.

"Good morning Hayato! Are you ready for a few days out in the wilderness?" If it even took them that long. Thankfully unlike in Hi no Kuni this mission would not require crossing half way across the country to reach the borders. Instead the forest they were heading for was just below the mountains not more then half a days trek near one of the little logging towns. Which meant if they worked hard and fast they could even bunk down in real beds in a real in rather then in tents or sleeping in sleeping bags in trees. While Azarea was willing to do such a thing she'd long since learned to sit when she could sit, lay when she could lay, and sleep when sleep was provided. A bit of a militant view on rest, but one that had served her well.

"I take it you'll be team lead on this mission?" Azarea inquires with an easy smile.

[attr="class","dibody2"] It was hard to miss the companion in his mission. Azarea's red hair and bubbly personality contrasted with the general drab décor of the hallway. She was a torch burning bright, and she seemed content to see him, almost as if his presence livened up the cheeriness that the woman had shown during the time they had drank tea together. She seemed unchanged from that time but for her hair seeming longer and seemingly thicker and her smile appearing more sharp than before, almost as if her canine teeth had grown. Perhaps he simply hadn't noticed that and simply he decided not to press any question about her looks. Simply, he reasoned, it was the natural change a body has and since he hadn't seen her for the last few weeks as she had left on an assignment. Quietly he returned a brief smile to his neighbor, being thankful for her welcoming and fond of her company. He didn't respond to her query about being ready for the wilderness. He would simply adapt as he had done many other times. He had found sleep in swamps whose scent made him think that hundreds of bodies had to be hidden to create such stench, of in small cap by the cliffside of a mountain, with the wind and snow blasting towards him, close enough to the edge and a brush with death. "I will find a way to accommodate myself to the environment." Hayato added as the smile seemed to fade slowly. "By rank I will take lead, but I'm always willing to hear the opinions of my subordinates and act accordingly, a naysmith is always more valuable than a yes-man." He told her before he would begin leading both of the out of the building. He had little more insight to give, he trusted that she knew the parameters of the mission and that it would fairly simple for both of them to accomplish. "It's fine Hayato. There are worse things than following your lead," Azarea quips her voice light and with just a hint of teasing as the two of them turn and head out of the building and past the gates at a brisk pace. The logging camp was not far, maybe half a days run for a shinobi, but there was no reason to be tardy. The woman's eyes briefly flicking down to admire the curve of her partner's ass with interest as he leapt ahead allowing her eyes to linger before returning her gaze to their surroundings. "I'll do my best not to slow you down." She assures him with a smile as she allows her Kikaichu to filter out and move in a radius about them in order to alert of any potential threats.

"Though as team lead it's probably wise you know my capabilities. The main asset I bring to any mission is I am a genjutsu mistress so I am good at field control and making things difficult for our enemies. Barring that I'm skilled in ninjutsu, but my arsenal is still fairly limited. I'm able to tree and water walk with no issues and my bugs are good for scouting, tracking, and locating targets." She lists off her capabilities so Hayato knows what he is working with on this mission.

"Is there anything about your skills I should be aware of?" Azarea inquires as she flashes him a smile.

It was as much as he could say, but the information that the woman had given him about her own skillset provided him with understanding and gave him an idea of how to best employ her talents when the need were to arisen. As the village gave way to the mountains it was surrounded with, Hayato looked at the forest of pine trees, felt the chill of the autumn wind against his face, the scent of wet soil after a morning rain. There wasn't many things in the world that he liked, but this season was one of them. A part of him wanted to sit down and taken in the weather but he didn't stop as duty demanded his attention first. "What do you make about our mission?" He said, glancing at her and swearing for a moment that she had set her eyes on him rather than their environment. "The town and the bandits?" He asked, wanting her opinion on the subject. He had seeing the map of the town, read the topographical surveys, chartered map of the forests. He had given the same attention to these mission like the countless others he had participated upon. But he was always willing to listen to the opinion of others about the task at hand. He had seeing enough information from the even the government of the town and had an educated guess of how to deal with the head of the township. The bandits where other matter of course. They were, for all intends and purposes common thugs that had seen fit to break the Raikage's peace and make transgression after transgression. A Bet

The red head lets out a soft noncommittal hum in regards to his specialties seeing now why the two had been paired up together. His skills would likely provide that sharper edge of combat experience to her ability to control the field and hopefully keep the damage to the surrounding forests to a minimum. Her gaze sweeping their surroundings both for threats, but likewise quiet appreciation of the green leaves just beginning to turn orange and yellow at the edges. It wouldn't be long now, perhaps only a few more days, before their entire surroundings was alight with the colors of flame as fall painted the world as it's canvas. Her eyes occasionally lingering on her partner with the same sort of quiet appreciation one might have when viewing a masterpiece of art. Her gaze snapping up to meet the mans own as he glances over her shoulder the woman meeting his query with a raised eyebrow as she gives his question some thought.

"While a lot of researchers do live in that village it's also home to quite a few lumberjacks and men who know how to handle weapons. So there must be some reason they're asking for help rather then handling it themselves. I suspect the bandits must have found some sort of natural feature in the environment to even the odds or have taken over an area they are aware of that the locals are terrified of being damaged and thus are exploiting that advantage. Ensuring the townsfolk can't simply drive them out directly." Azarea theorized putting her skill in tactics to use as she flashes him a smile. Picking up her pace just a touch to jump forward to bring her alongside Hayato as she leans to nudge him teasingly with her shoulder.

"What do you think Hayato-Senpai? Wanna bet whether they're holed up in a gulley or a cave? Loser buys the other drinks when the missions over." She teases voice light and playful though her posture is one of alertness as she shakes a few insects from her sleeves, the familiar little fluffy gold bugs flitting off into the treeline where they'd keep pace with the pair and alert Azarea of trouble approaching.

He didn't doubt that the people of the community were experts on their field. The location itself was perfect for ecological research and he understood that the trees themselves gave provided timber of great quality, be it for homes or for weapons. But as good as anyone could become in the art of crafting it didn't mean that they would be effective warriors. He imagined that was the reason why they seemed to struggle with them. However he would turn to the woman as she explored the idea that they were probably hidden in a cave or gulley. "Or a grotto." He added. In reality it mattered little where they were. If they could capture them would be better. If they could kill them and make example from the bandits to bring the Raikage's peace to this part of the country it could be better. "We'll deal with them soon enough." Hayato told her without hesitation as they continued through the winding road. "The important thing, is to question the villagers. Every scrap of information is important and then we can create a plan of action." It sounded simple but he knew that it would require the willingness of the people in the small village. He could imagine that some of them could be less than willing, after all the request of the mission had requested for at least a handful of squads and two shinobi would seem like a paltry gift present in retrospective. He suspected that with the two of them it would be more than enough but the simple reality was the village could not spare many more people and thus why he had been assigned to this mission. The Village

"Or a Grotto," She concedes with a soft chuckle as the two descended down from the mountains towards the valley in question. The forests and trees around them thickening and growing tall enough that the sunlight became dappled if it broke through the canopy of leaves at all. The woods pressing in around them like a fiery glove as they were swallowed by the colors of fall. Until in the distance situated in a large grove was the village a hand. A mere dozen or so houses, a large warehouse, mill, and a set of three greenhouses as the pair hopped down from the trees. Azarea soaking in their surroundings with a soft hum.

"I suppose we should look for the fanciest house, knock, and see if we can find whoever is in charge." She muses nodding towards the rather nice looking two story cabin at the end of the street with an open air pavilion of sorts next to it that looks as if it could hold a crowd for 'town' meetings. Likely the best place to start to figure out who they needed to report in to. As Azarea shook out her jacket allowing some of her beetles to drop to the ground to begin some scouting of her own as the pair decided their course of action.

"By the way do you mind if I place a few insects on you? It will make it easier for us to stay in contact and not get separated." Azarea suggested holding out a hand towards him with a few of the fuzzy little beetles perched on her fingers.

In truth he had forgotten about the beetles, they seemed small enough not to be noticed which he imagined lend to their incredible versatility, but not everyone was an entomologist and more often than not people would ignore insects like this when they came. Nothing else about the beetles bothered him, worse things had crawled over him during his long career and little bothered him, if anything. As they moved into the small town he looked to Azarea. "Could you have them scout the area as well?" He asked, seeking to maximize their information gathering capabilities. "Or at the very least, set up a perimeter around the town." If they were to note down the number of people inside the village at the time or their arrival, they would be alerted by a sudden increase if they were attacked and therefore act accordingly in a counter attack. As they continued down the town, the few persons around in the main road turning their heads to see the two strangers that had emerged from the forest. The houses that he could see weren't exactly anything fanciful. Functional prefab constructions that were meant to start a new community, or house the inhabitants of a temporal settlement. But he saw people flocking, coming and going into a single edifice that was larger than the rest. With a quick step the two shinobi would make their way into the building, parting the few people that were in line as they mumbles questions of who they were. Entering inside the building, the place had more in common with an administration office than an house. He supposed that was so with most administration centers. As heads would turn again to look at the two of them, Hayato raised his voice. "We're a the shinobi from Kumogakure, the Raikage's deliverance. Who among you leads this village?" He asked an awaited. "I can set up a perimeter with my insects then see about spreading them out into the forest to scout." Azarea agreed as she furrowed her brow concentrating as what appeared like gold dust drifted from her clothing as her Kikaichu dispersed into the surrounded with each step as the two of them made a beeline for the meeting house. Winding their way through the small crowd as Hayato requests to speak with the leader of the village the people eventually part to allow a large mountain of the man with salt and pepper hair to step forward.

"I am Satori Jiro the leader of this village. How might I be of assistance to the shinobi of Kumogakure?" He introduces himself eyeing the two of them somewhat skeptically having expected a squad of at least five shinobi instead of a measly two, but one did not look gift horses in the mouth.

"I take it the two of you are here about the mission request we sent in? Is this your entire squad or should we be expecting more? The local joss house can accommodate the two of you for your stay, but we'll need to make arrangements for more if your fellows have yet to arrive." Jiro explained his voice rough, but not unkind as he tried to gauge the two's skills and capabilities in handling the village's problem.

Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria [Queen's Coronation Regalia]
A mutated variant of the Aburame clans Yūdai no Omorejō ["Bewildering Grandeur of the Alpha"] resulting from the subsequent poisoning of Azarea's former Yūdai no Omorejō hive to prevent potential hijutsu theft. While the Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria lacks the Yūdai no Omorejō size instead Azarea's hive has maintained the ability to produce alpha pheromones and commanding vibrations. Evolving instead to hyperspecialize in these two aspects allowing them to produce pheramones and vibrations strong enough to be detected by human hearing and sense of smell.

If he had read the reports correctly, the village had been attacked by a dozen or so bandits, none of which seemed to be shinobi trained. He didn't dismiss the possibility since there could be an unseen enemy that directed the moves of this group. He would not be foolish enough to ignore that chance. As he tried to read into the expression of the head of the village, disquiet growing in his expression as he saw that the village had sent to him basically nothing but two shinobi. As he was about to speak, the Jonin would raise a hand, interjecting. "The entire town will continue operations as scheduled." Hayato began, glaring at the man before turning to those inside the building, their expressions being of disbelief and apprehension at the realization that these two were to be their protectors. A murmur began to emerge among them, considering their options in case the two of them were to be overwhelmed and whether or not leaving would be the better of the options. Hayato would continue, raising his voice. "After your daily work has concluded everyone will return to their domiciles. You may not leave unless it is an emergency and you need to look for your healer. A curfew is in effect." He added turning once more to the head of the community. "I need you to tell this to your people. I also require you to keep your warehouse closest to the road unlocked and an inventory of the total sum of contents in it." A plan had brewed in his mind and he saw fit to carry on with it, as the man would try to speak once more, Hayato would raise his hand made into a fist, index finger extended as the words of the man died in his throat. "I would prefer you aid us willingly, but your compliance isn't a factor here. I carry with me the authority of the Lady Raikage and Lord Daimyo. If you wish to see this menace ended you will tell your people to do as I say, lock their doors and remain inside. And lead me and my companion to the warehouse." He said turning to Azarea. Azarea observed Hayato with keen eyes her gaze flicking between him and the civilians as she subtly firmed up her own stance her expression hard so as to give nothing away and show no weakness. Offering, if nothing else, a combined front for dealing with the population lest the people here thing it was a good or wise idea to interfere and risk making things more difficult then they would already be with just the two of them.

"I can do that, sir." Azarea murmured tone respectful in front of the many eyes that watched them. She'd never intended to deploy all her have at once as it was without risking her own safety. Though that thankfully meant she had an appropriate amount of Kikaichu ready and on hand for whatever task Hayato had in mind. Soon they left the administration building, being led into one of the warehouses that was closest to the road. Stacked crates were kept in lines to allow enough space so they could be moved and loaded into carts that would move them to their final destination. Soon one of the attendants provided him with a copy of the supply manifesto. His eyes quickly began to look through all its contents. These were trading goods, medical supplies and one item that caught his attention. Luxury items in an town that was labeled for research and production of timber related goods was somewhat odd. He started to suspect that the leader of the this town did more than just do his part. He might as well be taking money to fund this expenses. He made a mental note to included that into his report so a more lengthy investigation could be carried. "The plan is simple. We will allow the bandits to loot this warehouse." Hayato announced to Azarea and the village leader and their entourage. He could see the discontent on the group, that the two shinobi that were sent, rather than the five they had asked, would seemingly just give up. "We will use this as bait and track them down." Hayato added before turning to the red hair next to him. "Your beetles can mark the crates, correct? Or better yet, you can put a female so the male beetles can fallow her or am I wrong?" He said. "I can do that yes," Azarea agreed as she eyed the various boxes taking her time to inspect them before putting beetles on the ones that looked the most likely to be looted first and foremost before moving onto the less essential boxes. The process taking some time and purposefully so as the younger nin waited for the townsfolk to grow bored and depart to grumble in their discontent. Only once they were gone did she speak up again.

"I can also hide amidst the crates. I have true transformation so it wouldn't be difficult for me to take the shape of a mouse or a bug and burrow in among some of the goods. Allowing me to infiltrate that a way. Then if they've fortified a base I can just open the door for you." She suggests glancing up from her work to gauge Hayato's opinion on this potential option and tool at their disposal.
