uritsu inquired if it would be alright for him to practice the skill himself. Receiving feedback from another genjutsu specialist was very important for things like this - something she had learned well while training in her youth. He had given her the trust to allow her to use the layered genjutsu on him, so it was only fair to extend the same grace in reverse. She was confident in her own abilities to escape a genjutsu if needed, and knowing that it was coming overall made genjutsu slightly less effective than it was when it took a victim by surprise on the field.

Still, as the leader of her nation, she had some responsibility to be cautious in a situation like this. Even if Ouritsu himself did not intend her any harm, the brief moment of distraction caused by genjutsu could be very dangerous.

She turned her head to look at Asa, who was still waiting her warily. Asa inclined her head in the barest of nods - an agreement to watch over her. Even if she thought it was unwise, Asa wouldn't speak against Shuka's judgement.

Shuka also looked over to her other bodyguards. They seemed to be on high alert. All was probably fine.

It might become obvious to Ouritsu now that the woman he was speaking to was quite guarded, and possibly someone important.

"Of course," Shuka agreed, now that she was certain that her guards had a handle on the situation and were watching closely. "I would be happy to allow you the practice. Begin whenever you would like."

Being so wrapped up in tutelage and the other going's on around the arena made it tough to realize just who may have been in the area and the chunin definitely hadn't noticed when the old woman first walked up that she was being flanked --rather loosely-- by guards, though as the Nohime's eyes trailed Shuka's it became very apparent that she had a contingent of those looking out for her well being. Who was she? He thought about the name again and it kinda sounded familiar but still no dice though it was clear that this woman was someone of importance. Questions for later.

After a few oddly tense moments the woman obliged to the chunin's request bringing a smile to the boy's face. Being able to start the process of putting his theory to the test would make all of this volunteering he had done today worth it but now came a different problem: what two techniques would he use? It wasn't enough that the genjutsu in question needed to mesh well but their triggers had to work well in tandem, too. Hmm, this was quite the pickle. But this was just practice and a first attempt at that so it was ok if things weren't perfect. He was sure that Shuka would give him some constructive advice after the fact so it was best just to give it a go.

"I hope this doesn't look too awkward." Taking a deep breath Ouritsu would release a loud whistle that ended just a moment before the chunin stomped his left foot on the ground. If it worked the very well around Shuka would begin to spin and flip upside down as countless after images of the Nohime would appear and disappear around her.

DESCRIPTION:
After stamping one's foot, the user will cast a Genjutsu upon their opponent where it will appear as if they can move at speeds that match those who use the Eight Gates. Countless after images will begin to move about them, the user seemingly moving about in such a fashion that the opponents eyes simply cannot keep up, when in truth the user is completely unseen. It can be seen through by those who use Doujutsu.

DESCRIPTION:
After a shrill whistle, the user will cast a Genjutsu over their opponent. After they hear the whistle, it will seem as if the world around them begins to spin. Everything turning upside down, making them almost unable to move without falling over. Leaving the opponent extremely disorientated.

hoosing which two genjutsu to combine really was the trickiest part of this initiation. It could take a lot of workshopping just to find out what worked well together, what initiated well together, how to apply the chakra just right... Ouritsu selected his two genjutsu and tried to pull them off in tandem.

Shuka felt the arrival of the technique, the chakra taking root through her sensory organs and trying to embed in her mind. She got quite the wave of nausea, the kinesthetic properties of fighting confused flickering for just a second with the fluttering images of ichimokusan. Then the two seemed to almost spiral out, struggling to settle perfectly into place within her brain.

She placed a hand to her forehead, clearly a little dizzy, and stated,

"That ...was a very good first attempt. Those two techniques together on the field would be difficult to parse, let alone react to. You could easily make someone sick like that. It seemed like the techniques were still warring a bit when they reached me. Another difficult part of this technique is that you need to make sure the parts remain distinct, but that you're fitting them together... Like fitting two puzzle pieces together. The chakra has to connect. If the shape of each technique becomes too abstract the effectiveness diminishes, and if the pieces come apart, they'll burn each other out."

It was a weird feeling trying to fire off two techniques so closely after one another that they could be perceived as one and with the attempt came a bit of clumsiness. Ouritsu hadn't considered that by spinning the world around it would make focusing on the afterimages more difficult thus making the secondary technique more or less useless. There was maybe a different combination the chunin could have tried but since this was just a bit of practice he couldn't loose anything damaging or that could have been seen as a threat by the woman's guards.

Still, hearing from Shuka that his attempt was at least decent went along way in boosting the boy's confidence. He had confirmed his theory, he had experienced it first hand, and he had even gave it a shot. There was still plenty of work to be done but there was a foundation to work from. "Right right, I think I tried too hard to just get the techniques off in time instead of considering how they actually worked together." A tricky endeavor but one Ouritsu was prepared to take head on.

Well, all things considered this had turned out to be an awesome day even though there was still more to be done. The Nohime would have loved nothing more than running off to practice but he had an obligation to the exam participants to shore up what holes in their genjutsu understanding they had and the last thing Ouritsu wanted was to be known for shirking his responsibilities. "Thank you for letting me try that out, and for all the help today." Ouritsu would speak with a bow. He still wasn't sure just who exactly this woman was but figured that she probably had better stuff to do than experience him struggle layering genjutsu on her all day. "As much as I'd hate to let an awesome teach go these kids are gonna struggle without some more direction, so I should probably get back to helping 'em. If you're gonna be here for the entire exams or if you're ever in town again I'd love to pay you back for all the help."

orking on all the different mechanics of the layered genjutsu was a difficult feat, but she had no doubt that this clever young man would be able to orchestrate such combinations in very little time - youths were always better with learning such things, and, if the universe was merciful, he would have plenty time yet to learn.

He took criticism well, too, casually taking that feedback to heart. It made him a good shinobi, being willing to incorporate that kind of advice easily. Someone who wasn't too prideful to admit a mistake and to adapt, but still confident enough to know he could proceed, was the best kind of soldier.

Ouritsu bowed and Shuka folded her hands in front of herself, nodding her head in a very shallow bow in reciprocation.

"Of course. I should allow you to get back to your work," she agreed, looking around. There were some kids anxiously lingering nearby looking to approach, but a bit intimidated by her occupying the space in front of it. Her guards looked antsy as well, ready to get on the move.

"I will remain in town for the remainder of the exams. If our paths cross again, I would happily help you more with questions on genjutsu, or accept a thanks. It has been a pleasure working with you today, and I hope your tutoring work is fruitful."

With that, Shuka would be on her way, continuing to roam.
