Shosuke deftly and calmly tends to his work, displaying an exceptional sense of calm amidst the chaos converging on his medical tent. At his signal, one of the village doctors—one of the only two trained for human treatment—separates from the work she’s doing to instead go speak to the hysterical woman that Kiho brought over. She carefully helps the woman sit down, rubbing a comforting hand over her back as the crying woman takes great heaving breaths between sobs. Shosuke would be able to hear snippets of their soft conversation as the doctor speaks in a low, soothing voice and the crying woman frantically stammers through an unintelligible recollection of what had happened. That the ninja had left her husband to die, it was all their fault, why didn’t they save him, they didn’t listen to her. The doctor gently tries to reason with her, but shock and grief had made the crying woman completely resistant to being comforted, or having anything explained to her. At the very least, having someone by her side and listening is keeping her still and quiet enough that she isn’t overly disturbing the others resting in the immediate vicinity.
As Shosuke finishes setting and splinting another broken limb, Murahira Sengo suddenly appears in the tent, a blanketed bundle in his arms: a small child, miraculously still alive despite the wreckage the Murahira had located him in. Sengo sets the unconscious child down on an empty cot before grabbing some buckets and disappearing back towards the village. Upon inspection, Shosuke will be able to discern that the child, maybe six or seven years old, is in fact breathing; but her right arm and some of her ribs are badly broken, blood is leaking from her nostrils, and a deep gash is freely bleeding above her right eye from where it seems she sustained a head injury—likely also the cause of her unconscious state.
Sengo, after delivering the child, a children’s book, and a morale-boosting message, returns to the village. He delivers buckets to Daisuke before rejoining Shigure in his work, the pair working quickly to maneuver through burning buildings and find any survivors within. Within a set of clustered homes they’re able to make quick work and locate another
eleven survivors, in addition to another
eleven dead; though at this point, the efforts they made to clear the smoke earlier in their efforts would be overcome by the sheer volume of fires in this section of the village, and both would be inhaling a good amount of smoke, experiencing labored breathing and tightness in the chest unless they find some way to protect themselves.
Daisuke, having made his large basin of water with which to put out fires, issues his orders… and seems to be studiously ignored by the group of shinobi, each having dedicated themselves to their own course of action without listening to the chuunin’s directive. He does have buckets, however, and with these tools at the ready, some of the civilians still being escorted from the village—those in well enough condition to move around—break off from their escorts to take up buckets and begin operating a mini-fire brigade, exhausted but willing to help save their homes when provided the tools to do so. Ten civilians join the effort, passing along buckets full of water to start attempting to extinguish the flames in the immediate vicinity.
Yakitsukeru deftly navigates through the epicenter of activity in order to enter the parts of the village further south that have already been cleared. Okingshi is right behind her, and between the two of them they begin retrieving corpses, Yaki sealing them away in tags while Okingshi merely removes them from the wreckage, leaving the bodies out in the open to be cataloged later.
Random Scenario Roll: Okingshi! While attempting to retrieve a gruesome pile of three corpses, there’s a distinct
cracking sound above Okingshi’s head—the movement of the two genin in these fragile structures, made more fragile by the digging and movement from recovering the living, is causing the roof of the building to crumble inwards! A wooden beam splinters and slate roofing cascades to the ground. Both Okingshi and Yaki will suffer moderate injuries if swift action is not taken to protect themselves.
[Random Event: Building Structural Collapse!]Meanwhile, in the northern section, the exhausted but persistent Azarea finds herself joined by Eri, though Azarea is unlikely to recognize the teen girl without her massive puppet armor protecting her form. Between Azarea’s kikaichu droning steadily on, and Eri focusing through the cacophony of information ricoheting through her tremorsense, the two girls are able to locate another
twenty-one civilians in the surrounding houses—twelve of them still alive. Whether the last group was simply unlucky, or these particular survivors had the quick thinking and action to properly protect themselves from rubble and smoke is not quite clear, but Shigure’s clone and Shuusuke are able to assist in escorting the survivors free of smoke and destruction and towards the northern village gate.
Koji, exhausted of his chakra but bolstered in spirit by Shigure’s encouraging words, rallies enough to be able to assist in helping survivors out of their suffocating environments. He’s able to be quite helpful even without ninjutsu, the strength he earned in his sword training coming in extremely handy when it comes to heaving over rocks and supporting the weight of injured adults.
Random Scenario Roll: Koji! In the moment of renewed spirit, however, disaster strikes: a rumble echoes from the northern cliff, a tremble that sends a fresh shower of small boulders and wet mud cascading directly towards where Azarea, Eri, Shuusuke, Shigure’s clone, and Koji are fighting to do their work. With her tremorsense Eri would be able to anticipate the event and notify others or prepare accordingly. All parties in the immediate vicinity will suffer moderate injuries if swift action is not taken to protect themselves!
[Random Event: Landslide!]Kiho and Hana, having arrived at the northern gate, do nothing to assist in the ongoing efforts, perhaps stunned into inaction by the volume of destruction and chaos within the heart of Kikai itself.

LINK TO MAP[found on pinterest, i did not draw this lmao]We're hitting the final stretch of the event and all of the homestead area has been expertly covered by team one, so I'm merging the threads in order to allow for everyone to participate in the village center effectively if they so choose.
Map has been updated with the team's positions relative to one another. The pink highlights reflect ground already covered in rotations 1 through 6, while the red highlights reflect burning buildings. The blue highlights reflect fires that have been put out. Let me know if you have any questions!
- All skills, weapons, and jutsu are allowed.
- Posting window will be strictly enforced. If a participant misses a rotation, they will be skipped. Whatever happened in the last post, if relevant to the skipped character, will happen to the character.
- A 24-hour extension may be given up to two times per member during the event, if the member contacts Tact.
- This event is death enabled and canonically takes place
before the Fall 2022 Iwagkaure Chuunin Exams. If you are participating in both events, injuries or death that might occur during Shattered Foundations will significantly impact the proceedings of the exams in Kuwana.
Every rotation, a 1d6 will be rolled to see which Random Event impacts the vicinity of a team member. Another 1d6 will then be rolled to select that team member.
Every rotation, a 1d100 will be rolled. (:
The event will conclude when the entire vicinity has been checked by either team and at least 80% of Kikai’s population has been accounted for, either dead or alive. I will be keeping track of the net encountered civilians across both groups in each rotation.
If events between the two groups overlap, a tertiary thread may be created to merge the two groups and keep events consistent.
