Hubris and impatience had perhaps gotten the better of the boy and though he was cautious of the spears that the woman was wielding he assumed that his increased speed would help him evade them enough to get in close and deliver a strike. He was able to use his increased dexterity to avoid the thrusting spear yet didn't take into account the extended chain which the woman shipped back to sweep his legs out from under him; she had used his own momentum and fervor against him.

Skidding to a halt a few meters away Mairusu stumbled back to his feet as he wondered how a single lady was not only holding her own but currently besting two transformed sage apprentices. Granted this was one of their very first forays into sage mode but between the two of them their skill should have had them in a better spot than this. No matter, the tides would turn soon enough!

Those spears of hers were the main problem and trying to get around them even in a somewhat coordinated assault was going to be tough, especially if they weren't going to be using jutsu. They weren't trying to seriously injure the lady, after all, and there was a chance a senjutsu boosted attack could do some real damage and Mairusu didn't trust himself to be able to control all that excess power without some practice first.

Whipping out a handful of kunai the boy would launch them in an arced fashion towards his opponent aiming to shift her focus towards the weapons and more importantly getting her to move her spears away. He'd follow that up by charging in from the opposite side aiming to this time take her legs out with a sliding kick.

Observing the movements of the two and comparing, the Elder Spear was almost certain that there was a change from before. She hadn't fought them while they were in their normal state, but that was fine. It was in the way they had moved, simply watching from where she sat she looked back and forth between the two. Waiting for the next move, and it would come from the young man. The kunai he threw a problem to say the least, but not improbable. Shifting her hands past two of her spears she swung them to bat away the kunai before shifting a third to try and block out the sliding kick. The blunted spear pointed to make contact with Mairasu's forehead as he came in. Yakitsukeru on the other end shuffled slowly to stand, managing after a moment from the hard impact that she had also taken mid-air. Taking out another flash bomb and throwing it towards the woman without any hesitation. Hoping to diverge her sight and ability to make out Mairasu through the entire experience. The flash would go off without a hitch, but Mairasu's trajectory for dodging was mostly up to him to correct. As if waiting for her to move Yaki was once again meet with a spear blindsiding her and sending her off tumbling a second time. Even this mystery woman couldn't ignore the threat of multiple projectiles heading her way and she'd move her spears to block the incoming kunai which gave Mairusu the space and time needed to rush in for his true attack. Unfortunately he hadn't accounted for them to be dealt with just so quickly and as the boy neared his target he found himself face to face with the back end of one of the spears, a knock to the head arresting his momentum and no doubt being the beginning of a bruise, though surprisingly it didn't hurt nearly as bad he believed it was going to.

Using the cover of Yaki's flash bomb to scramble back away fromthe woman it felt like this fight was going nowhere in a hurry. They'd been allowed to tap into new powers and it mattered little. Embarrassing, truly. "Alright, we gotta land at least one hit on thisss woman." Mairusu spoke as he had made the decision to not hold back any longer. Well, that wasn't exactly true, as his goal was to still not use anything that would potentially kill their opponent, but it was clear that using basic weaponry and remedial attacks was not going to cut it.

Forming two seals, the boy would begin to channel raiton chakra to his legs as they began to glow but instead of their usual yellow it was black, no doubt an effect of the natural chakra coursing through him. "Well.. that'sss new." Charging in at increased speeds Mairusu would work to evade the incoming spears before unleashing a series of kicks aimed at the woman. They weren't strong enough to kill but getting hit by one or two would do enough to numb or paralyze the effected parts.

Everything hurt after having been slammed a second time by the spears and apparently her energy control agreed, feeling like her body wouldn't be able to hold this state for much longer. Standing from where she had toppled with a focused glare she saw Mairasu charging once more. His use of raiton a clear sign that he was taking this with full seriousness, something Taki would gladly reciprocate. Pulling two hakka-gu and waiting for the opening as she lobbed one above the woman and Mairasu, while the other was curved in at a moment when Mairasu would have needed a response in earnest. The attack being a bluff from the girl rather then an actual attack, but the feint could easily prove a powerful attack for their 'unmoving' foe. Getting the response that she was wanting the woman took notice of the bombs and immediately moved her spears to swat them away, causing the oil in both to splash out of the clay orb. The distracting feint just enough with the increased propulsion of Mairasu's movements to work. A spear levied defensively in front of herself would catch the physical brunt, with another delayed in its attempt to bat away the boy as well. However, the electric surge would stun the elder, causing her to take more force from the kick then she otherwise might have. Being knocked back from her position the spears would drop, though the one coming from Mairasu would be too late to properly stop this deep into the blow given the brief stunning. As the effects wore off the woman would stand her spears returning to the position of rest behind her, a clap from her hands, "You actually managed to get a hit in you two. Bravo. I will consider that interesting enough for now, please stay and rest for the evening here in this monastery to rest. I will make accommodations for your rest, those hits may hurt now, but the real pain wont start for another hour or so." The woman would speak calling the two to stop, their objective seemingly met as far as she was concerned. Yakitsu felt far from satisfied with the result, but biting her tongue and quieting down she would begin to slowly release the natural energy in her body. He knew those spears were going to be a problem, he knew using this much energy would probably be the last thing his body allowed him to do, but all these years of training and to be so easily parried away by some long sticks was infuriating, especially in this state when he should have been one of the strongest people in this place. Mairusu was betting everything on this last offensive. Thankfully he was not alone in this endeavor and Yaki's moves had worked to take away some of the woman's attention though it was not enough to leave her wide open for an attack, but the added force behind his kick had been enough to bring pause to her actions for a moment and even sent her skidding back a bit.

He had landed a hit.

The momentary jolt, however, had prevented their opponent from being able to stop the second spear in time as it careened towards the genin and it found purchase on his side causing the boy to roll over in pain clutching his side. It would have been much worse had Mairusu not been in this fledging state of sage mode but even that was quickly disappearing as his appearance was returning to normal, the natural energy in his system depleted. Listening to the the woman applaud their performance she would allow them to rest for the evening yet gave warning that their injuries that were painful now would really begin to cause them problems soon.

Exhaustion had all but set in and the boy barely had energy enough to roll himself onto his back and offer a thumbs up. He wanted a nap and a bath and some food and some ice packs. Maybe he'd just sleep out here tonight, there was no way he was gonna be able to walk anywhere considering how every part of his body was screaming. Alas, if even for a fleeting few moments the fruits of his training had been present and though everything hurt it couldn't stop a smile from sitting on the apprentices face.

It would only take a few moments for the two to rest and relieve themselves of the excess natural energy in their bodies. An achievement by any metric as the two had spent far too long getting to this point in time. It would be strange if they weren't close even if they were absolutely not ready to use it so long term. That was fine though, they would figure it out in time right? The spear-weilding sect elder thought that the two would figure it out certainly at least. Her own optimism overshadowing the potential feelings of disappointment from the spar, they were simply too far below her level for her to fight in a more real capacity. They needed to grow more, and what a better way then to also grow her own youths in the process. An ink brush placed to a piece of parchment a letter of acceptance would be written for the two to take back to the leader of Kaminari's shinobi village. A promise of challenge, and a deep seated request for her opponent next time to be the lady of weapons herself; Raikage Kizumi.
