"Then it shall be a vast improvement from the droning reunions of old tired man." Kazuto said with a chuckle, at least happy that the reunion would be an informal affair with friends rather than a long reunion of nobles that made the clan gatherings tedious affairs rife with politics and gossip that he had learned to despise. Although a part of him was disappointed that there would be no time to speak with Inoyami's brother. He had read what all he could from the reports that his rank and station allowed him to take a look at old missives and missions from the past, at the very least those missions that were not completely covered in ink, and certainly Inoyomi's were. Even if they had not coincide in the organization, Kazuto would understand that he probably knew that he was an ANBU. "Pity he wouldn't be there. Imagine the tales he could regale us with." He said before taking a short sip of a now lukewarm tea. As he drank, he would heard the Nara speak and mention Sunagakure and much to his surprise mention Miho. Under other circumstances he would have coughed the tea that he had drank as he wondered what knowledge he had about their relationship. For the most part they had been quiet to not call attention, although if asked he would deny it. The mission itself seemed like a good experience with trusted allies of the village. "I've visited Sunagakure, it was my first mission after being promoted to Jonin." The mission had been a rather dull one, lacking from the emotion associated with the delivery of scrolls that couldn't be trusted with the messenger hawks that the villages often employed. What he could remember of Sunagakure and Kaze no Kuni was the very same thing he had known all his life, a dried fell upon life somehow found a way. "The desert is harsh, I spent a night there, and it makes for harsh people, but loyal to a fault. If you go there and learn a thing or two, sounds like a good experience to me."

A gathering at home, it would be so much fun. Kazuto commented on the plans, bringing up that her brother would have had interesting stories to relay to them if he also attended. But of course, he couldn't. Inoyami loved the man, more than anyone else on the planet, but a meeting among friends would remain just that. Still, the image of him "regaling them with tales" as Kazuto phrased it did make her grin. She giggled, pure joy in the sound. "He so would," she agreed, following up her sudden giddiness with a hearty bite of vegetables.

And, while Inoyami was happy about their next gathering lined up, that hardly compared to the excitement she felt when her teammate chose to initiate actual conversation with Kazuto about something entirely unrelated to what they'd been discussing. Shikajin wasn't going to chime in about flowers--she knew that--but he'd brought up something else, and she smiled broadly, chewing in silence and listening to the other two speak. Training medics, someone named Miho, visiting Sunagakure, deserts being sucky.

The blonde would allow Shikajin to answer first, choosing to comment afterward as worst-case scenarios for desert survival flashed through her mind. "Preparedness should be your priority if you're bringing someone else with you. No dying in the sands." She gave Shikajin a stern look. A few moments passed, and she wondered if her brother's teasing about her being "that mom friend" was accurate. She laughed, but the sound was hollow save for the obvious hint of embarrassment in her voice. "Listen to me--I'm not even going and I'm way too worried. You'll be fine, I know. Sorry. Sorry..." The woman got quiet and chose to take a small drink. Then another.

And then the curiosity bug bit her. Hard. She cleared her throat, her voice drumming up into its usual chipper octave. "So who's Miho?" Surely she was an especially skilled medic in training for Shikajin to want to tote her along to visit with Sunagakure's medical staff. Or maybe she wasn't all that skilled and really needed the counsel? Either way, she wanted to know. Mostly because it was what Shikajin had been interested enough in to bring up on his own. But also because Inoyami was a magnet for knowledge and she liked knowing everyone's story. Not a moment had passed when the woman gasped with sudden excitement, tacking on, "A secret girlfriend?" and nudging the man playfully in the arm. Okay, it wasn't professional. But she haaaaad to know! There were plenty of other medics well suited to a good will trip. This Miho had to be something special.

Inoyami's brother was an interesting spot for her, she didn't talk about him often but when she did it was usually in a gleeful tone; furthermore there were only a handful of people who actually knew what the man did, er, use to do for a living meaning that if Kazuto was so well versed it was a good guess that he, too, was part of a certain group. Most interesting. The Nara wouldn't confirm his suspicions right now, but he'd make a mental note to ask later, perhaps at the next gathering where there weren't as many wandering eyes and ears.

The Senju's info on Suna's inhabitants and geography was plain, but helpful none the less. The desert was no place to take lightly even being a shinobi and a medical one at that. Temperatures hit either side of the spectrum on a daily basis and the lack of defining features made getting lost very easy, and he'd never hear the end of it if one of the village's young promising medics was lost to the sands of time. "Hm I see, should be an interesting visit then." The Chunin would reply before turning his attention to his teammate who was sounding awfully similar to a parent at the moment.

"I'll be sure to pack an extra pair of underwear just for you, Inoyami." The Nara chided with his normally solemn face now twisted into an awkward grin that quickly faded at the mention of Miho being a secret girlfriend. The age difference alone made it improbable in addition to the fact that Shikajin had no desire for such a thing at the moment. He thought back to Sada being latched onto his arm for an entire afternoon not that long ago but chalked that up to necessity and nothing more. "A promising young medic is all. You're more than welcome to tag along to see for yourself." He replied before shifting his gaze to the Senju. "And I'm sure the village wouldn't just want a couple medics out and about on their own, an escort with knowledge of the destination may be useful."

Shikajin wasn't much in the way of asking for company, nor did he necessarily need extra people on the mission, but it he could find at least one other person to take on the burden of conversation during their travels it would be helpful. Besides, it had been quite some time since he and his teammate and gone on a mission together and being able to take a break from all the clan related duties she was shouldering would be good for the woman; and for Kazuto he'd be able to spend more time with his beloved, though none at the table were any wiser to that fact.

Kazuto could see where this was going already. Although he could imagine that there were many other senior shinobi that knew that route like the back of their hands, he could also imagine that a chance to go on a mission with a friend from his academy days would be beneficial and it would be good to take it easy after a string of dangerous and classified missions. Just that Miho was going seemed to be like a bonus to him, although he ignored whether or not Shikajin knew about his relationship with the young medic or if his beloved had told him in passing about them. At the very least some of the medical staff knew since he had gone to pick her up. "Sounds like a nice change of pace for any shinobi." He said calmly before shifting his gaze towards the Yamanaka, wondering if Shikajin also intended her to come to the mission with them too and for a second he wondered how she would fare in a fight. If he recalled correctly the Yamanaka were more of a support, long range type of fighter. And even in a escort mission that could be written off as relaxing, an extra layer of security would be good. Yet he didn't press the issue, he would be concerned with the permutation of the temporal squad after the mission had been approved and their orders would be giving to them. Again eyeing Inoyami he would lean forward. "You seem awfully needing to know if our friend here has a secret girlfriend. I mean look at him." The Senju said, nodding towards the man with a hint of a smile perched upon his lips. "I've heard women fall for him. Besides if you ask about it, we should also be asking if you have a secret beloved yourself, Inoyami."

Shikajin's comment only made her feel worse. Really, more embarrassed than she should've been. She had to stop spitting out the first thoughts that her mind produced... Her teammate, though, confirmed that Miho was just a "promising young medic," meaning that he was probably bringing her along to learn. Promising didn't mean masterful, but it did imply potential. She gave an idle "Hmm," of acknowledgment, taking a sip of water as he then suggested indirectly that Kazuto join the trip. Somehow that seemed ideal. Kazuto's demeanor implied a wealth of knowledge in a way distinct to those who molded words well--which the Senju did. He was proper, seemingly mindful of his phrasing, and careful with information. One didn't get that way by being ignorant or careless.

Kazuto didn't actually confirm any desire to join, though, instead bringing up the secret girlfriend thing relative to her teammate being...desirable? The blonde found her thoughts jarred enough with her friend's words--not just aimed at the Nara, but at the prospect of her having a "beloved" herself--that she actually choked on her water, slamming her glass down and forcing her mouth into her arm away from the two of them to muffle the ensuing fit of coughs.

Once she'd cleared her airways and brought in a few breaths, she turned back around, her face notably red but with a distinct fire in her eyes born from what could safely be assumed to be embarrassment. Again. "Beloved is not the term I would use to--" She stopped abruptly, something dawning on her, and then began her statement over, albeit clumsily. "Err... I don't think-- Let's not talk about me." She casually waved an open palm in Kazuto's direction. "What about you, huh? Or is that one of those things you can't tell us about?" She smirked playfully at him.

Kazuto was just full of jokes today, almost enough to make the Nara crack a grin, but that would have been awkward for everyone to witness so instead he would simply nod in agreement of the Senju's rebuttal. He was quick to turn the spotlight on the Yamanaka which seemed to send her into a fit. How could she not be expecting such a question? Shinobi had to be quick on their feet when it came to responding whether out in the field or eating barbecue in the comfort of their village; and today Inoyami had proved that she was not quick on the draw. Oh well, room for improvement.

Her initial words were not lost on the Nara, there was no immediate rejection of the idea as a whole but only in the term Kazuto used. He would listen to whatever garble came next but the damage had already been done. The two never really talked about love interests or the like all that much, honestly it didn't seem like either had a bunch of time for it. Inoyami being the clan head surely kept her busy on top of regular shinobi duties, and Shikajin was nowhere near social enough to care for such things. He had cared before and fate had ripped a good friend from him, there was no way in hell he'd create another opportunity for that to happen again. However, it did seem that someone had caught his teammates eye and in due time they would get to the bottom of it; Shikajin was a medic after all, he had access to everyone's files all he needed was a bit more info.

The Chunin was fully expecting to get a response deflecting the question. Could people in Kazuto's role even have relationships? Were they bound to a code of solitude as to not cloud their judgement less fall to a darker path with the promise of saving a loved one? It would only make sense given how secretive the Senju had been during their meal but sometimes that was just part of what made a village run: some had to sacrifice more than others to ensure the safety of those that called Konoha home. Shikajin would never fault the man for that but it did make conversation trickier than normal.

Kazuto would only grin at the turn of events, at the reaction of Inoyami at his question and at the brooding silence that emanated from the Nara like how lambent of a flame glowed from a candle. He closed his eyes as he leaned against his seat, fingers gently holding the small cup of lukewarm tea before he brought the vessel towards his lips and he took a long draft as if to create more expectation to the answer that he would need to give to his friends. The taste of herbs striking at his mouth before he drank the liquid and placed the cup with the deliberation of a politician that knew what he was doing. His eyes would rest upon the blond, a candid smile appearing upon his face as he allowed the seconds to pass as if this was some interrogatory or a game to see how would flinch first. He briefly considered being evasive, keeping the truth about he and Miho to himself. But a part of himself felt that doing so would just mean that he wasn't serious about the young medic and he didn't love her as fervently as he claimed. He would open his mouth to speak, hesitating for a brief instance as he found that no words came to mind to be put forward until they finally came and he decided that the truth was the best outcome in this situation. "Do we really need to speak about her again? I'm certain Shikajin surmised Miho's accolades fairly well." The Senju said before he held the chopsticks in his hand, deftly prying a raw fillet of meat unto the grill and the another, allowing it to cook under the heat with the sizzling feeling the silence that had being left in the void after his answer, awaiting for the reaction of both of his friends. "Why the shocked faces?"

Inoyami hadn't actually expected an answer. And Shikajin didn't further question the man across the table. Kazuto, however, surprised her when he actually answered her. And, even better, he regaled them with the "who"--the very same woman that Shikajin had spoken of. Inoyami wished in that moment she had met Miho, for her mind wouldn't have begun throwing at her all kinds of questions about what the other might be like, or what she looked like, or how she and Kazuto had met, or...

"Ohmygosh!" she exclaimed happily. "No way!" She nudged Shikajin. "Small world, right?" An excited laugh left her. "I'm so happy for you! I bet she's a real sweetie!" She would have to be, given Kazuto's demeanor. Someone too aggressive or intense would only clash with him. Or, at least, that was Ino's presumption. Maybe the man had a secret softer side that aligned well with more assertive love interests...but she doubted it.

"I'd love to meet her someday!" she said. She wanted to suggest a group lunch but thought better of it. That might be awkward given that neither she nor Shikajin (to her knowledge) had a significant other to bring along too. Well, she could bring-- No, no. She shouldn't.

"If you don't mind my asking, what's she like? How long have you two been an item?" The blonde had momentarily forgotten about the food, too enthralled in hearing more about the one juicy piece of information that Kazuto had chosen to give up during the course of their meal. With him having been so tight-lipped before, it felt like a small miracle that he'd thrown them even a single bone. And Inoyami wasn't one to turn her nose up at scraps. She wanted the details--like a gossip mag informant, only more polite.

A brow raised at the revelation, for quite a few reasons. They had gotten more info about the Senju's relationship than his job --which to to be honest Kazuto being able to express that deep of emotion was a shock all on its own-- and it rightfully made Inoyami freak right the hell out. A similar reaction from the Nara would have probably freaked everyone out so the Chunin would do his absolute best to keep his raging emotions in check. Ok, that was a lie, there was little more that he could of done to show his surprise that could be seen as genuine, but best believe the wheels were turning at this new information.

"A small word indeed." He would reply to his teammate while shooting glances between them. Kazuto was around their age, perhaps a little older, while Miho was definitely on the younger side. Curious. There was now a crossroads presented to Shikajin. He could choose to grill the Senju about his relationship or wait until his next round of duties at the hospital and ask Miho a few questions, but bringing that out of the blue could of potentially brought about disastrous results. The earlier invitation from moments ago about joining the mission to Suna became much more interesting all of a sudden and between the four of them, assuming Inoyami decided to join, there was sure to be plenty of talk about a certain pairing, and perhaps a question or two about the Yamanaka's activities. It wasn't like there was anywhere she could run in the desert so questions would get answered.

A sip from his cup allowed a brief reprieve from active thoughts and for now the man would simply take in all the information Kazuto was willing to offer. Inoyami had no shortage of questions when it came to just about any topic, and one as exciting as this would have her wheels spinning for the foreseeable future.

If there was any response he was waiting for, the fusillade of questions that came directed to him from he blonde had not being any of them. He sat there silently as she exclaimed to the heavens at the revelation of his relationship with the young medic whilst the pale Nara would only utter in agreement at how small the world was, almost in a silent disbelief that he was capable of showing even a modicum of affection to someone. After allowing the barrage of questions to end, the Senju would resume to take a draft of his tea before coming into thought of what to tell them about her. Kazuto debated internally on whether or not divulge all he knew about her, the fallen princess of the Adachi clan and how her clan had fallen from grace, turning against the village. How her parents had stayed loyal facing such rebellion. At first when he had met her the rebellion that her kin had instigated had been much at the forefront of the young woman, and a lingering sense of defeat that came from failing her studies as a sage as well has her lack of progress of a shinobi. She was stubborn to a fault on top of that, wanting to do things on her own, but beneath all that, he had seen many different things that were good. Her drive to succeed, her indefatigable spirit and her ability to shake the baggage that had held her down. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, taking a moment to consider his wording to leave her in the best of lights for people that would at the very least attempt to meet her. "She's earnest, compassionate and calm. She can be stubborn but that makes her driven and indefatigable. She is kind and modest and better than she gives herself credit for. I'm truly blessed to have found her." Of that he didn't have any doubt. As he lowered his eyes and would smile silently for himself and asked himself how long they had been together. He had known her from about three years, just before her fifteenth birthday and he had said something that had insulted her by accident only to make amends. He came to help to rebuilt the ruin that had been the clan compound of the Adachi and had found that there was an undeniable attraction between the two. It just simply happened and he could not be happier for that. "I suppose... We've been together for almost two years? Three years come next winter I think."

Shikajin's agreement was basically what she'd expected. There was no way he'd be as excited as she was. But she couldn't help it. And as it happened, Kazuto decided to be surprisingly detailed--and super cute--with his description of his partner. He gave it some thought before answering, which was respectable, as well. He clearly wanted to present a good image of her even when she wasn't there to hear it. The "truly blessed to have found her" bit specifically got a broad smile from the blonde. "Aww," she chimed happily. "I'm sure she feels just as blessed." She wondered what kinds of things Miho would say about Kazuto if their positions had been reversed just now... Something to ask her in the future when they inevitably had the time alone to speak on it. And they would. Ino would make sure of it.

"Two years?" she repeated. "Wow." Kazuto wasn't even that old. The blonde wondered, mostly from the non-stop desire to learn about others, what the depth of their relationship was. Kazuto had nice enough things to say about the woman, but were they serious? Did he think at this point he might marry her? Then again... Who kept something casual for two years straight? It had to be something pretty heavy. And heavy meant a likely wedding. But that was being too preemptive, she thought, cooling her excitement a bit. It was just so fun hearing that someone else was doing so well in a stable relationship. Deep down, she was a tiny bit envious. But just the tiniest bit. Super tiny. Like, molecular.

"I'm happy for you, anyway," she would say, trying not to dwell on the topic too long since it wasn't something that Shikajin seemed interested in actively contributing to. He seemed more content just listening to Kazuto, but this was a lunch for three, not two.

"So if it's okay with you, Shikajin, I might tag along on your little desert trip?" She smiled and winked at her teammate. She didn't want to inject herself into something if she wasn't actually wanted, and he was free to deny her request. But now, knowing what they knew, she would definitely want to use the time to get to know Miho. And she could bring back some regional recipes for herself and Inoyori while she was out there. A win-win, for sure, assuming she was able to go. "I promise I won't harp on you too much," she added with a small laugh.

Shikajin would listen to Kazuto shower his beloved with various accolades, all of which seemed to fall in line with what he knew about Miho. Granted, they had very rarely talked outside of actual job related duties but the village hospital was but only so big and hearing of others personalities and general pleasantness wasn't difficult. He wondered if Kazuto's profession dictated that Miho not share the details of their relationship to anyone, though again they rarely spoke of personal life so it could have been readily available information had the Nara simply asked, but at no point had that ever crossed his mind nor interested him... until now. A conversation would perhaps need to take place next time they were assigned rounds together, or he could wait for the proposed mission as there would be plenty of time to talk during the journey to Suna. Of course, being the in the presence of her beloved would perhaps stifle a truly honest answer. Oh how things had gotten interesting as of late.

The Yamanaka in her usual bubbly fashion was more than happy to take hold of the reigns of the conversation and Shikajin was more than happy to oblige. It gave him time to think, to plot, but more importantly to simply listen to how people spoke about those they cared deeply for. Life had taken a sharp turn after the death of his and Inoyami's teammate and it wouldn't be a stretch to say that the male had failed to completely recover from it, and one of those wounds was being able to let his many guards down and build connections with others again. Granted, that was exactly what the three of them were doing right now but it had more so been at the behest of the Yamanaka than Shikajin's own initiative. He couldn't say for certain if he would have actually spoken to the Senju had they crossed paths like Kazuto and Inoyami did let alone set up a lunch meeting.

Inoyami's question would snap the man from his train of dark and draining thoughts. She wanted to join in on the mission. Well that'd be certainly interesting. Heads of the Senju and Yamanaka journeying to Suna would be a procession like no other, though the chances of that knowledge being freely known in a foreign land was slim. Alas, the more the merrier, and having another combatant wouldn't hurt. Shikajin was capable, and Miho was definitely strong, but they were medics and not necessarily fit for the front lines though they did have other abilities which mitigated the stigma somewhat; well, more for Miho than Shikajin given Nara weren't front line fighters to begin with.

"I see no problem with it. Been a while since we've taken a mission as a team together anyway." He'd reply plainly. His tone may not have given away much but the Nara was at the very least pleased to be doing stuff with those he considered friends. He'd probably still mope about but on the inside it wouldn't be all doom and gloom.

"Thank you." He told Inoyami quietly as he began to reflect on the barrage of questions and reactions that the blonde had placed forth. He found himself bemused that people would react in such a way after learning that beneath the calm and controlled person he presented himself with, he was still capable of professing an emotion like love for someone. While truthfully there was a great degree of compartmentalization on his part to keep those parts of his occupation well under check we would not deny the passionate love that he had for Miho and that was well reciprocated burned in him like flame that guided him even through the darkest paths. When the conversation shifted towards the mission, he would simply nod at the inclusion of Inoyami in the assignment. Although he hadn't done missions with them, he could tell that the Nara and the Yamanaka would be easily in the same page during the duration of the trip, and between himself, Miho, Inoyami and Shikajin they would make a team that was well balanced and that could affront a many great deal of opponents. Although a part of him wondered how would the lack of a Akimichi impact them both, knowing of the effectiveness that the Ino-Shika-Cho had. Still he saw a chance to at the very least tease his friends given the sudden shift of the conversation. Kazuto had been forthright about his own sentimental situation, and Inoyami had given both a small tidbit to go on, allowing them to speculate in their own thoughts of whom she was dating, if she was dating anyone. However the Nara had remained a mystery, kept to himself whilst at the same time allowing himself short burst of sentences, but nothing concrete, nothing about his own family or if she was seeing someone outside his duties as a medic. "As much as I love planning missions, you're only showing interest about who am I dating?" Kazuto told Inoyami before he would nod towards the Nara. "What about him? Why does he gets a free pass?" He said with a chuckle.

He agreed to the trip! Yeees! Inoyami grinned, throwing her hands together happily. "Awesome! It'll be so great!" she sang, already thinking over all the lovely conversations the group of them would be having. She'd have to pack so many supplies, and think up contingency plans, and take stock of things at home before leaving, and plan out what she was going to wear, and give her brother an itinerary of the travel dates and plans so he'd know when she'd be back... Though, he'd probably not be counting the days, with the house all to himself for once. Save for Kiyo. Oh! Would she be able to bring her? A red squirrel wouldn't fair too well in the desert, though... Maybe during a different trip.

Kazuto moved on to joke that she'd only been focusing on him with her front of questioning. Which...was basically true. "Well he sees me so much, I figured he would spill it if he found someone interesting," she said with a shrug, pausing to take another drink before her attention was redirected at Shikajin.

"Though if you've got a cute little secret, now's the time to share," she teased him, picking up a piece from her plate. "Wish I could do the same," she added with a dejected sigh, mulling over one of the last bites from her plate. Inoyami hadn't seriously dated anyone lately. She'd gone on her share of lunch dates, been in gatherings with friends, met people while running errands...but nothing had led anywhere meaningful. And even if it had, there was the obvious competition of her family life to contend with. To-date, she'd spent far more time with her sibling than anyone else in her lineage. Or any of her friends, for that matter. Her mother had mentioned something briefly a month prior about "getting out more" once her errands were finished...but it'd been a suggestion. A suggestion that Inoyami felt free to ignore--and did. Besides! She didn't need to be dating someone to appease someone else... Though it'd certainly help kill some of the jokes in her inner circle. She most definitely didn't spend all night up in the trees like a crazy person. She was typically on the sofa with 'Yori. Like a normal 20-year-old.

Though the amount of snacks she consumed on said sofa probably wasn't normal...

The members of the mission seemed to be set, now all that was left to do was go through the proper procedure to actually get everything set up. A lot of paperwork and messenger hawks back and forth to Suna was in the Nara's immediate future, oh and telling Miho, that was probably important; though he wouldn't be surprised if Kazuto brought it up before they worked together next. No big deal, it was actually better that way. A little extra preparation time would serve the young medic well. Normally half a squad being medics wouldn't fair all that well but with the strange abilities of the Senju their attacking power, should the need arise, was pretty well set, in addition to having a very capable Yamanaka. Shikajin wasn't particularly fond of having to rely on Kazuto to shoulder the load of their offensive power but without an Akimichi to aid their efforts both the Nara and Ino portions of the team were at a slight disadvantage. They were ranged, mostly stationary fighters so being in the thick of things wasn't ideal for either of them. Capable none the less, it'd just be a little awkward leaving the Senju so far ahead should they have to fight.

Hypothetical battle strategies would be abruptly cut short as the topic shifted from the Senju's relationship to... Shikajin's. He looked between the other two who were giving him inquiring gazes. Inoyami was mostly correct in that if on the odd chance that the Nara did find someone to share his time with he'd probably tell her, though to be honest it'd mostly be in passing. The Yamanaka was not one for subtlety and surely would have made a big deal of it so maybe he wouldn't tell her after all. To be honest, however, he had neither the time nor desire for such matters of the heart. Being both a shinobi and a doctor kept him very busy in addition to the other responsibilities he shouldered for his clan. No one had even caught the man's eye for such things anyway, and his encounter with Sada surely didn't count as anything but being the day's plaything for her. He wasn't naiive enough to think more into that situation than he should have, but the two sitting with him didn't know that. Shikajin wasn't known to be a joker which made his plan all that more devious. Inoyami would eat it up and Kazuto... there was no telling.

"I spent time with Kawai Sada not too long ago, it was nice." He'd reply in his usual monotonous voice, bracing for whatever sound emanated from his teammate which he guessed would be some kind of high pitched squeal. The bait had been placed and now it was time to see if the mice would fall into the trap.
