[attr="class","sugita"]The warmth of her hand caused his cheeks to blush. Sugita look away, as far away as his eyes could take him. They traveled back to the familiarity of the diner and even further from the village and onward, thousands of miles away in the labyrinths of his mind.

As the two took their seat, their hands were forced to separate, something that Sugita now felt empty without. He sat down reluctantly; a menu being placed in front of them both within seconds.

A rather greyed woman introduced herself, after taking their drink orders, she then turned to Sugita, "The usual, I assume, young Kirigara?” She gestured with pen in hand, her voice aged back at least two wars, possibly three, and her hunched back wasn’t what it used to be. Gnarled hands delicately grasped at the pen and tablet, and wrinkled eyes showed smalls slits of emerald greens. Her lip curled upward, revealing a mouth full of impossibly perfect teeth for a woman her age.

Sugita returned the smile, "You know me too well, Hana. Yes, please, and could you get the special her. She’s a guest, and I want her to experience the best the village has to offer,” he said gesturing to Kuni.

Hana scribbled on the notepad, her hand shaking as she did so. "Ooh, that sounds wonderful. I’ll be right out with it, then,” she said politely before waddling away to the kitchen.

The boy let his eyes rest on Kuni’s, her kimono was delicately wrapped around her, and the colors exploded in the dimly lit room. "Because of the rain here, we get a very good harvest of some herbs, namely lemongrass. The special here is more of a common dish, but it’s still one of the best things ever. Pork with lemongrass, pickled vegetables, and rice. They usually include an egg or two.” He hoped that she would even enjoy something like that, but he figured it would be a more appropriate meal than what he typically ordered. He'd admit it felt weird ordering for her though. What if she didn't like it?

Sugita lead her further into the building, she immediately took note of her surroundings and Sugita was right of the fact this was a hidden gem. They had to let go, something she didn't want to and something she could easily prevent but how could she explain 'it' to him, that the girl he was talking to wasn't Kunikunosaku anymore. She was there in its conscious, there mentally and spiritually, but physically, she was long gone. How could she drop this bombshell though? She has no certainty if she'll see him again, she wants to but if she shows him that, will he want to see her again. It's why she is continuing this lie, she just doesn't know how'll he react nor how he'll be okay with this. It was a somber detail, one that holds her back from truly living like a human.

Kunikunosaku watched as Sugita made the orders. He must come here often to have the waitress know his order. The Mikatakujira looked at the woman as Sugita ordered for her, nodding in acknowledgment. She didn't have any qualms against it, she asked for him to after all. Her gaze reverted to Sugita once the woman had left, her attention solely on him as he explained the dish. I always wanted to try lemongrass and never got around to it... Guess I'll have it, sucks I won't be able to taste it. Kunikunosaku's smile continued to hold, the dish sounded amazing and Kuni was going to eat it, despite not being able to taste it. She had to, she was the guest here and she did ask him too.

"It sounds delicious, I can't wait to try it!" Kunikunosaku stated with a smile as she watched him. She could just get lost in his eyes, and for the most part, she did. She ached to tell him, but she didn't want to lose him. She just couldn't bring herself to explain it though. It's really not normal for a girl to also be a nightmare in one bundle, and she had to at least lay out something lest it comes back to bite her down the road. She didn't have to explain to her ex, it was pretty well known at home what EGF was. But here... well, unless he asked, she had everything to lose... Even if he did ask, the price of losing him just is too much to think about already. "Sugita... what is your favorite memory? It's a random question. Just call me curious."

The girl didn't really know what is or isn't appropriate to ask but it's better to tear down walls that'd get in the way... Right?

After having to recycle the roots that ended up killing the previous Apprentice just to transfer Jiongu to Kunikunosaku, the mass of black roots recollects most of its abilities from the Apprentice previous while forming new ones with its new master/host, Kunikunosaku. As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

Symbiotic Bond: Strong Mind, Strong Body
As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

Power of a God:
After a great time learning how to control Jiongu, Kunikunosaku has learned to store chakra in each of her threads so long as they continue to be attached to at least one of her hearts. This extra storage capacity allows the girl to amass greater amounts of chakra within herself, expanding her reserves beyond that of the normal shinobi her rank. As with many other abilities, this ability continues to grow as the girl does through the ranks and years.

Cursed Master:

As a reward for attaining a greater deal of control over her symbiotic relationship with Jiongu, Kunikunosaku acquired the keys to the gate of mastering her abilities. This new boon allows Kunikunosaku to double the impact of her EGF ninjutsu. In addition, a passive boon is the ability to completely negate Jiongu's manipulation to consume more hearts. These boons together allow Kuni to further manipulate Jiongu against its basic natures, improving her unique utilization. While still young and unrefined, the ability is expected to grow as their bond deepens to even further levels.

Medical Knowledge:

Being from Takigakure's prestigious clan medical clan, Kunikunosaku is also set to learn the human anatomy, biology, and Kinesthetics, While this knowledge DOES NOT give her access to Medical Ninjutsu Techniques, however, the knowledge does unlock abilities of precision to the human body with every attack. This knowledge grants field combat medic aid but nowhere near the degree of those actually trained in it.

A bit naïve and trusting, Sugita would have no inkling that the girl before him wasn’t quite telling the truth, or at least she wasn’t admitting a key fact about her being. The boy, on the other hand, had the opposite problem. He was too honest and was a terrible liar. Sugita wasn’t one to judge others. Everyone had their reason behind everything that they did. This was something he truly believed. To him, the woman before him was just who she appeared to be.

The grey-eyed boy adjusted himself awkwardly in his seat, his eye straying to pictures that hung on the walls. "You know, this place has been open since before the village was even started?” It was an interesting fact that Sugita somehow just managed to grab from the databank that was his mind. "They say that it started as a small hut along the roadside where travelers were stop to rest before parting ways to the sea, or on their way back home as soon as they reached the mainland.” He hummed, amused at the otherwise completely useless fact. "Apparently as the village grew, it absorbed it and it’s been here ever since, owned by the same family.”

Sugita caught himself, his cheeks turning red as he realized he had been rambling. Kuni followed briefly after with a question that left Sugita blinking mindlessly. He wasn’t sure he’d ever been asked something even remotely like this. His blank stare was quickly followed by a genuine smile, parted to one side of his mouth. His grey eyes roamed. "I had a friend named Shuichi,” a small laugh escaped him, "we used to get in all sorts of trouble, believe it or not.” The laugh then turned to a small puff of air from his nose as he shook his head. "My favorite memory, huh?” Sugita thought for a brief moment, only know that his favorite memory would have been with Shuichi. "That’d have to be the time he got his head stuck in a trash bin,” he said, his laugh now exploding. "Simple, I know, but you honestly just had to be there…It was honestly impressive. I’m still not sure how he managed it to do that. We laughed for a straight ten minutes.”

Kuni's smile grew a bit when he promised her she'll like it. Damn, now I really wish I have the actual biology to eat and taste. Kuni clicked her feet together under the table as Sugita went on to explain the history of this place. It was surprising how much he knew, despite the advantage of living here. Back in the past, Wasurete never actually detailed anything outside of his excuses that made it rather difficult to meet up with her. So this place started REALLY small and grew into this, wonder if they'll ever make a chain. The girl would think quietly to herself to hear out all the boy had to say. Kunikunosaku threw him a question unrelated to the place's history. She wanted to hear his answer to that a lot more than the history of this place.

He seemed to have a real good friend, Shuichi. They got in a lot of fiasco escapades, one being his favorite as well, one where she didn't understand what made it so funny; but the image of someone getting their head stuck in a trashcan, that was funny and enough to make her softly chuckle and shake her head gently. Kunikunosaku looked up with her eyes to back at the boy as she thought of hers. Whether he asked her or not, she waited a brief minute before disturbing the sound of silence. "As cheesy as it sounds, my favorite memory was meeting you after I got out of the office, you looked so adorable and cute, it made me happy and made me feel safe... a feeling I almost never get."

Kuni looked at the table, Woah, ease up there, Kunikunosaku. The girl thought before looking back at Sugita, she wondered if he had any questions about her. Preferably something benign that wouldn't traumatize the boy. In an effort to avoid such a traumatizing thing, the girl thought of a more difficult-to-answer question. "Hey Sugita, have you ever thought about the future and what you want to do or see happen?" Deception Score +5

For a moment he didn’t blink as he tried desperately to connect the dots. How was a nobody like him a part of her favorite memory? He couldn’t understand, but he felt his heart flutter. Adorable? Cute? Him? With his baby-face and failure of a shinobi life? She was a Jounin and was nearly the same age. Sugita…Sugita was nothing, right?

His eyes fluttered and his mouth opened as he began to think, but the thought stopped at the back of his throat. After a moment, he simply smiled. "I’m…I’m glad that I could bring you some comfort, Kuni. Perhaps that could be my favorite memory.” His grey eyes wandered. "I think Shuichi would be fine with that, if it meant I could move on.” His eyes began to swell, but he didn’t shed more emotion, not in front of Kuni. Sugita reached his hand out, laying it gently on Kuni’s. "Thank you…really.” He said, a half but genuine smile appearing on his face.

Her next question didn’t catch him off guard as much. After all, what could catch him off guard after her previous comment. He didn’t have much to think about. It was something Sugita had been considering more and more about his future. Ever since he made his promise to Sanosuke, he had been working hard to find a way to prove his worth. "Well, I’ve been spending a lot of time in other villages, honestly. Politics has taken me by surprise. I didn’t think it was something I’d be interested in.” Sugita blushed. "If I’m being honest, though, I’d like to see more peace between the villages. I think…I think we could use each other now more than ever…we could help so many people if we just stopped fighting.” He shrugged. "It’ll never happen though…too many people have lost too much. Everyone is at each other’s throats. I almost wonder…if the wounds are too deep at this point.”

He paused. "What about you? You’re a Jounin. When’s the last time you even had a vacation,” Sugita laughed jokingly. She was still just a teenager….did she know how to live outside of blood and war? Had she ever had a chance?

As Kuni expressed her favorite memory and it certainly caught him off guard. It was true though, she hasn't had such a fond and positive memory with anyone, even with Wasurete, it felt like he wasn't actually caring but putting on a show for formalities sake. Compared to the few positive memories, meeting Sugita ascended above her friendship with Akira, one of her closest bonds to date. Honestly, it was a blessing how much of a positive effect Sugita had. She wasn't truly sure why he seemed off guard. But she listened intently when he tried to speak. He paused, Oh fuck. I said something wrong, fuck. The girl thought in the brief moment before he actually spoke and it was beautiful to her at least.

He must have thought it was cute with his eyes swelling and gratuitous speech, Kunikunosaku felt good hearing his words. It gave her hope that he was the one she tried so desperately to find, after all the crap she has been through. She held his hand just as gently as his reached hers. Kunikunosaku had her eyes swell a bit before she blinked the water away. Good timing Jiongu but not here. The Mikatakujira thought as she rubbed her thumb over his hand. Her question came to him and he thought for a bit before giving his answer.

It was very much like the task she was given that brought her to Kirigakure and Amegakure. She agreed with him, but she knew she was a small, perhaps, major problem with that. Kunikunosaku doesn't see the good nor the bad in people, she sees their actions and it all spirals down. She wasn't sure if she could even save someone from falling like her, she had to try with him though, but she wasn't sure if she'll drag him down with her. He proposed a new question, one to her specifically about her lifestyle.

Kuni looked at the table before looking back at him. "Only one as a Chūnin, if you can even call it that... Due to my dexterity and drive... I kinda never had a need for one, I never had anyone to go with. I am probably working myself to death... I haven't really rested since I was a Genin. It hurts thinking about it, but, it kinda is what it is ya'know? Sorry for a circle back but I happily invite you to come see Takigakure's politics. And maybe, even come see me?"

"Your hands are freezing,” he said as he then grasped her hand firmly with both of his in the attempt to warm them. His eyes lifted, "I don’t have a jacket or anything, but if you’d like I can ask them to turn off the air above us.” His eyes then fluttered. He was really making the jacket cliché a thing, wasn’t he? Well, he would have but he didn’t have a jacket with him at the moment. Being on escort duty, he didn’t really think wearing a hoodie would have made him look very presentable. Given she had changed, he wondered if he should have done the same. Maybe then he could have offered it to her.

"Perhaps once we get some food in you, you’ll warm up,” he said with a shrug though he hated he couldn’t help you more in the time being.

Speaking of their food, a younger woman than the one who had taken their order waddled their way, his hour-glass figure assisting her in keeping weighted trays balanced as she came over to their table. She gently placed their food before them as well as their drinks. "Ma said this one’s on the house,” she said with a subtle wink in Sugita’s direction, "In all the years you’ve come here, you’ve never brought a friend, Suga.” She let out a small giggle and walked away, leaving Sugita and Kuni to a brief silence.

Red cheeked, Sugita laughed after a few moments, breaking the awkwardness that he felt had arose. "She’s right. I usually come here by myself. Come to think of it, maybe I never came with anyone.” He pondered on it for a moment. Had she really been the first?

In a sense, it was right, kind of. She just lacked bloodflow in the sense there was none. The girl looked over at the source of a new voice, came to her attention. The food they ordered were placed down, along with refreshments. Kunikunosaku smiled when the woman told Sugita it was on the house.

Did he really come here that much? Kunikunosaku thought as she looked at the food served. The Mikatakujira analyzed the food, how was she supposed to eat again? The girl in the Kimono dress looked at the woman who seemed to wink at Sugita and already Kuni felt a sense of jealousy, more territorial in a sense. She looked back at Sugita who started chuckling away the awkwardness and she smiled with him. Kunikunosaku looked over for chopsticks before grabbing and preparing to use them. "Thank you for the food!" The girl called out. She looked at what to pick up first. She grabbed a piece of pork and ate it. As the girl started chewing, her eyes opened a bit more wider in pure amazement.

"So this is what lemongrass tastes like." The girl muttered after swallowing her food. She started to pick at the rice and the vegetables, greedily eating the food. She was praying she was acting well, it did make her sad having to eat what she wanted to try but was completely incapable of tasting it. She paused to swallow again and take a drink of water. Upon putting the glass down, she continued to greedily consume the food, it was questionable if she was even really swallowing or pushing them down an internal black hole.

As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

Power of a God:
After a great time learning how to control Jiongu, Kunikunosaku has learned to store chakra in each of her threads so long as they continue to be attached to at least one of her hearts. This extra storage capacity allows the girl to amass greater amounts of chakra within herself, expanding her reserves beyond that of the normal shinobi her rank. As with many other abilities, this ability continues to grow as the girl does through the ranks and years.

Cursed Master:

As a reward for attaining a greater deal of control over her symbiotic relationship with Jiongu, Kunikunosaku acquired the keys to the gate of mastering her abilities. This new boon allows Kunikunosaku to double the impact of her EGF ninjutsu. In addition, a passive boon is the ability to completely negate Jiongu's manipulation to consume more hearts. These boons together allow Kuni to further manipulate Jiongu against its basic natures, improving her unique utilization. While still young and unrefined, the ability is expected to grow as their bond deepens to even further levels.

Medical Knowledge:

Being from Takigakure's prestigious clan medical clan, Kunikunosaku is also set to learn the human anatomy, biology, and Kinesthetics, While this knowledge DOES NOT give her access to Medical Ninjutsu Techniques, however, the knowledge does unlock abilities of precision to the human body with every attack. Grey eyes seemed wide and brighter than usual as he stared at the food longingly. His order was a bit different from Kuni’s, though his usual wasn’t something a lot of people seemed to enjoy, but it was a special here that he had so far been unable to find elsewhere.

"Green tea poached salmon soba,” he said, greedily breaking his chopsticks after saying his graces silently with a bowed head. "I haven’t been able to find it anywhere else, but it’s my favorite,” he said with a smile. He waited patiently for Kuni to try her food first. As eager as he was to dig in, he still had his manners. Lemongrass pork was a common meal among several villages, from his understanding, so he assumed Kuni had had it before, though her initial reaction was that she hadn’t.

Sugita cocked his head, "Oh! You’ve never had lemongrass before?” he was honestly awed, though noted how quickly she seemed to consume her plate. "Hmm, maybe it’s not as common as I thought it was. I’m glad you like it, though.” He began to dig into his own shortly after her first bite, relishing in the wide range of flavor that entered his mouth.

Between bites, he sipped at his water. "There are lots of different kind of meals here, though. I’m not really sure where they get their inspiration,” he said, grey eyes wandering again and noting the random wall décor that seemed to rotate with the seasons. "I guess I’m a bit of a…foodie,” he laughed. Physically it wouldn't appear this way to others given his smaller physique. "I like experiencing new flavors. Never know what you’ll like.”

Sugita was clearly oblivious on the subject with Kuni and her being unable to enjoy the food as he did.

She heard out the boy out, listening to his description of his food. Kunikunosaku nodded before going to try her food in pure amazement. He asked her if she never tried out lemongrass and she nodded in denial, silently assuring that she never had it before. The Sesshoku clan gathered a lot of herbs for Bonchi no Kuni, never had the collected Lemongrass so she could never try it, but she continued to consume and periodically take breaks to drink. Most of his mutterings flew over her head as she continued to dig in, praying to whatever god that still accepted her that she was selling the part for you.

She quickly finished her food and sighed as she was done, washing her throat clear with the water. She listened to his comments and Kunikunosaku looked at Sugita. "Listen, you should really try the food in Takigakure, it has a more exotic taste and you can really remember for the rest of your life, the herbs and meat used I don't know if found anywhere else." Kuni stated, a bold claim considering she can't taste how the food is now. All she can remember is the past before she attained Jiongu and changed into something not exactly finished. The Mikatajuka looked around the room with the boy before looking back at him with a soft smile.

The girl's eyes focused on his. "You don't look like a foodie, but I mean, you probably exercise a lot. You can show me I think next time, maybe." Kunikunosaku stated with a warm tone. She waited for Sugita to finish his food, taking her napkin and cleaning herself up. Her eyes briefly wandered around, "Surely you have something else in mind if you treat a girl to a meal, when you are ready Sugita, I would absolutely love to find out~" Kunikunosaku stated in a flirtatious tone, she was honestly really curious, but, she didn't want to back him into a corner.

He wanted to know more about her and her experiences. What was the land like where she grew up? He wanted to see it with his own eyes. He smiled at the thought.

"Well, I can ask Lord Sanosuke if I could visit sometime. It would help with some of my studies, anyway.” For a moment he took mental note of his upcoming duties, though as a Genin most of his life was spontaneous with missions being assigned on an as-needed basis. However, he also had the Chuunin exams to think about. They would be approaching before long, and he wanted to be more than ready.

Sugita laughed shyly at her comment, rubbing his neck in response. "Yea, I get that a lot. My sword is a bit heavy, so I guess I use a lot of energy training,” he said as he gestured to Gingādo who was propped at the side of the table, likely listening in to their every word. "I would love to!” he said after swallowing the last bite of his meal. Sugita neatly gathered the dishes at the table and the trashed napkins and stacked them, making it easier for the waitress to clean their table once she came around.

"How about…I show you one more of my favorite spots,” he said with a bright smile. His heart pounded as he awaited her answer.

The thought of him asking the Ame Lord for permission both amused and gave hope to Kunikunosaku. She wanted Sugita to visit so much, and she craved for his warmth and presence. She didn't know what that would entail, she kept on forgetting he was still a genin and a genin can only do so much, she was there once, hard to imagine it's only roughly been two years. Kunikunosaku smiled when he said that he gets that comment a lot and it made the girl wonder if he was oblivious to being hit on or they were just complimenting him. He truly is too precious for such a potential entanglement with Kunikunosaku, but all she knew was that she was claiming him first.

At her last statement, he would love to. Kunikunosaku watched as the dishes were rounded up by him to assist the waitress in gathering the dishes, she didn't show it but it definitely helped her respect him more as a person with a good heart. He stated he would show her one last favorite spot of his and the smile on Kunikunosaku's face grew a little more. She held her hand out to him as she stood up from her seat, pushing her chair back in with her foot. The Mikatakujira held a smile as she held her hand out. Kunikunosaku took mental notes, slowly building a memory web of this boy. She so far enjoyed everything else, she was eager to find out even more about him.

Topics of importance still lingered in her mind, although, Kuni did her best to suppress them and allowed herself to keep an open mind. After all, this was as much a learning experience as it was an intoxicating experience. Kuni wanted to tell him a little about herself, but she was far more content listening, actually listening to him, rather than just hearing him. "I'd love to go, let's see it!"

The draw she had on his life seemed potent, ironically in the case of her predicament. Sugita reached out as he stood, accepting the hand she offered, albeit still cold enough to have him worry. He threw the thoughts aside. She knew her body more than anyone else, and if she said she simply had poor circulation, then of course Sugita would believe it.

Sugita thanked them for the meal and insisted on paying either way. He slipped the money under the plates alongside a hefty tip as he always did. He held her hand firmly, but gently, as they both exited the establishment. He was eager to show her the only other place he called his own. The walk was fairly long, but it allowed them time to talk and also to digest.

The beaten path was filled with colorful flowers and blooming cherry blossoms. The light pink petals floated down in the whisper of the wind, tugging at Kuni’s hair gently which Sugita noticed with a shy blush. A petal landed on the girl’s head, and Sugita removed it with a smile, handing it to her as if it had some sort of importance and wouldn’t wither away with a few days.

He continued to walk though, hand in hand and barely ten centimeters apart. His voice hummed as he spoke, "So, the place I’m taking you to is a bit far out. I thought it would give us time to digest a little. I found it when I was just a child. My younger siblings don’t even know about it.” He shrugged, questioning why he never told them. In truth, it felt like the one place he could go and just…relax. When he was there, it felt like he had no responsibilities. The world disappeared, and only his mind remained. Perhaps bringing someone there would ruin it, but …she couldn’t. "Do you have a place you go to when you just want to…be alone sometimes?” he questioned curiously. He assumed everyone had a place similar to that, but he wanted to know…hers.

Kunikunosaku was quite happy that the boy grabbed hold of her hand, his warmth felt like it flooded her body and it felt exhilarating to her, if there was a spark, she definitely felt it right now. Sugita finished the help and payment of the food despite them saying it was on the house. Normally, people would just leave but not Sugita. He was definitely a blessing in this accursed world; and, she was ever so grateful to find someone like him. He gripped her hand with a firm but gentle hold. They started their journey and it was definitely a long one, but, it was something that didn't bother her much.

The falling sakura leaves around the beaten path they were going down. It kind of felt like walking through a portal. The girl looked over at Sugita as he seemed to grab a hold of something, it looked like one of the leaves landed on her head and he removed it. He aimed to give it to her and with a tranquil expression, a small smile on her lips, she took her free hand and opened it for him to place it in her hand. Kuni moved to place the leaf on the left side of her head, opposite the clip. Tucking the end on top of her ear, one side had the clip and the other had the sakura leaf. She wasn't going to let it go. Sugita decided to strike up a conversation, stating that their journey was pretty long and no one else aside from him, and soon, Kuni has discovered it. Kunikunosaku hummed softly, both in acknowledgment and agreement to converse. Sugita's question came and she had to ponder on it. One part, she liked being alone, the other, she hated feeling lonely. She had places to escape the madness within and from the outside. But it wasn't the best coping mechanism. Not for her at least. "I... I do. Bonchi no Kuni is full of places not habituated by people. The pristine nature and the beauty of waterfalls are where I go, no one can find me, not easily at least. It's where I go to remind myself that I'm of actual worth, of great feats. It's one of many places I go where I know no one can hurt me." The girl vocalized as she decided to close her eyes. It felt like her problems could float away, but, she knew, so very well, she could never escape her problems. Not in this world nor in this disgusting new life.

After a very quiet sigh, she looked at Sugita. "How are the people you meet around here, are they as kind as you, are they more rambunctious, care-free, stern?"

Jiongu | Earth Grudge Fear

After having to recycle the roots that ended up killing the previous Apprentice just to transfer Jiongu to Kunikunosaku, the mass of black roots recollects most of its abilities from the Apprentice previous while forming new ones with its new master/host, Kunikunosaku. As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

Symbiotic Bond: Strong Mind, Strong Body
As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

Power of a God:
After a great time learning how to control Jiongu, Kunikunosaku has learned to store chakra in each of her threads so long as they continue to be attached to at least one of her hearts. This extra storage capacity allows the girl to amass greater amounts of chakra within herself, expanding her reserves beyond that of the normal shinobi her rank. As with many other abilities, this ability continues to grow as the girl does through the ranks and years.

Cursed Master:

As a reward for attaining a greater deal of control over her symbiotic relationship with Jiongu, Kunikunosaku acquired the keys to the gate of mastering her abilities. This new boon allows Kunikunosaku to double the impact of her EGF ninjutsu. In addition, a passive boon is the ability to completely negate Jiongu's manipulation to consume more hearts. These boons together allow Kuni to further manipulate Jiongu against its basic natures, improving her unique utilization. While still young and unrefined, the ability is expected to grow as their bond deepens to even further levels.

Medical Knowledge:

Being from Takigakure's prestigious clan medical clan, Kunikunosaku is also set to learn the human anatomy, biology, and Kinesthetics, While this knowledge DOES NOT give her access to Medical Ninjutsu Techniques, however, the knowledge does unlock abilities of precision to the human body with every attack. This knowledge grants field combat medic aid but nowhere near the degree of those actually trained in it.

[attr="class","sugita"]As Kuni mentioned a waterfall as being a place she typically went to escape to, his eyes brightened. She would love it, then. A smile broke out onto his face, and he felt a skip in his step, though his brows furrowed with her next comment.

Why…how could she not feel worth. Who would hurt her…and why? For a moment, Sugita wondered about her upbringing. Had it been cruel? Was that why she was the way she was with her duties as a kunoichi? To be a Jounin at such a young age, she had to have done nothing but work and suffer. Was this all of Taki, or just the way Kuni was? Was she forced to be this way, or was this her choice? Sugita looked sad and puzzled as his expressions mixed.

"I can’t imagine why anyone would want to hurt you,” he said softly, his hand reading up to brush loose hairs from her face that the wind had swept. "Or why you could even imagine you don’t have worth…” his voice trailed, sadness echoing with it.

"Kuni…” he said, stopping, tugging at her arm so that she would face him. "If there’s anything that I’ve learned, it’s that there are good and bad people everywhere that you go…you choose your own company.” His voice quivered. "If someone is mistreating you…you don’t have to stand by and let them…choose your company…”

Sugita knew that there were two sides to every story that existed, or more for that matter. If people were mean to Kuni, had she done something in her past to deserve it? It didn’t seem like it to him. The woman he saw was kind…and just wanted to be feel accepted.

"I don’t know what your past is like,” he said pausing, "But we can be better than who we were yesterday.” He held up one finger with a stern look. "It takes one person believing in you, and you can be or do whatever you want. If I told you I believed in you, then tomorrow…maybe tomorrow you don’t put up with it anymore. Don’t be alone. Understand that you have worth and that you’re capable of great things. Don’t just accept that it’s okay for someone to make you feel you’re any less.”

There was another pause in his voice, following by redness forming in his cheeks. He’d made assumptions that he had no right to, but perhaps he felt that strongly.

He looked away, his head lowering, but he tugged at her arm and pulled Kuni close to him, one arm wrapping around her gently, and the other placing on her head, pulling her head to his chest. "The things you say…they make me worry…”

And he didn’t know why.

To Sugita…it sounded like she just needed someone…anyone…to be there.
