Souma retreated until she was back to back with their guide, finally realizing something distinctly relieving: none of their opponents could really engage in offense without presenting themselves face first towards their opponents. Without shoving their very vulnerable heads into the light removing their greatest advantage.

"We have to be efficient as possible! Don't move to meet them, let them come into the light, they don't have any way to truly be aggressive without entering the light and exposing themselves! Unless you've a better plan, in which case I will follow your lead!" She protected their faithful guide with her body and armor, interposing her clan's steelwork in the way of any incoming blows, and retaliating by crushing the heads of the offending monstrosities, with boot or fist or cable. One by one, they started to pile up, crawling over each other to try to get at Souma, at the priest, at Himari-

Until it all stopped.

There were no more to attack.

No more skittering in the shadows. Just... their breathing, heavy though it was... and quiet. And darkness.

While Souma's plan seemed to be to draw them toward the light as a means to keep them at bay while they were exposed to attack, Himari began to realize that no one else had come up with any better solutions at this point. After all, they were in the middle of a brawl and there was no better way to deal with the mounting odds then to weaken them with their own defense. As the light from the shield seemed to be their saving grace, Himari would continue to bash and block as she worked her way toward the center along with the others. Keeping her back away from the mounting horde, their combined efforts continue to clash against the beasts that were surging upon them. Strike after strike, each seemed to come with different problems, but there efforts were in vain against the experienced shinobi and the holy guard at their center. Time continued on, and it appeared as if there was no end to the creatures of this dark cave, yet soon enough, as the silence began to linger over, the last cry of a fallen lizard would ring out as the group could only barely look upon the results of their fray and take a moment to relax, if only just for that second alone. As Souma asked if there were any more around them, Himari would breath out heavily, using her forearm to wipe the sludge remains from her face, her expression calm as she reeled back for a moment and then sighed. "Ain't nothin come to mind...looks like we got em..." Yet, in spite of this, she would always come up with a way to win in the end, despite being at the disadvantage. This has much to do with her reflexes, capable of moving around her targets attempts and finding the openings she needs to take them down. More often than not, this serves as her means of protection in it being difficult to hit a someone that you can't accurately engage against. Though it operates on her instincts, it can be unreliable in some situations. Especially if Himari has not been able to figure out the exact anatomy of her opponent. Heart of a Champion During her run within the OWA, Himari would train constantly to build up her strength and stamina. She would need both in order to complete the various techniques that were involved in her style of wrestling. As such, strength training was key in her mind as she came up with an arrangement in order to continue to build upon those foundations taught to her. While she is indeed smaller than most of the people she encounters, her size does no more than give her the appearance of being less powerful than she is. Her ability to sustain stronger grapples upon her opponents is increase through this advantage, as well as the impact of her physical attacks. Legacy of a Champion Okada Riku was known throughout the world for her speed and agility when she was in the ring. Such is reflected upon her continue run until her retirement. This trait has been passed down by to her daughter as Himari has displayed incredible speed. This has only increased over the years, alongside her training with both her mother and other shinobi. She can move swiftly across the field with little issue, using her agile footwork to get in close on a target before they can even realize it. As the melee quieted to silence, but for the breathing of the invaders themselves, Souma slowly let her guard down. "It seems you are correct. Kou-san, would you be so kind as to come with us and see if we can find the limits of this chasm? I will take that time to examine you three and ensure nobody is in need of treatment." As they travelled, Souma passed her hand, still coated in chakra, over the muck layered over their skin, tuning the water scalpel to erase only toenails so as to utilize its purifying properties in cleaning their bodies without removing tissue unnecessarily. Of course, while doing so, she hunted for any injuries that might need tended or purified.

As it happened, the search didn't take long- they'd already reached the bottom of the chasm, and no explanation for this particular crop of beasts presented itself. She sighed, but shrugged. "Well- we don't know what caused them, but we have eliminated this- flock?- of devils. We should remove ourselves while we have the energy to do so, and rest someplace away from here. With plenty of light," she muttered, shivering. "If I never see anything with more than four legs again, Himari-san...

It will be too soon."

Though it was still a mystery as to just caused this event to begin it, the fact that their job was complete was at least some relief. The creatures were indeed possibly connected to some other strange phenomenon, but they would not find the answer here. Or at least, not at that moment. It was a bit of a disappointment, but they had perhaps saved the lives of this group by investigating it none the less. Not to mention that had Kou come to do so on his own, it was likely that this would have ended tragically. As they seemed now to be ready to leave, and with Souma having given them all a clean bill of health, Himari was just as ready to leave as she was. With their venture back being a long one, it was best to get started now and perhaps they would arrive once more to see what remained of daylight.
