After erecting the barrier the group would opt to stay for the evening resting up and weathering the storm Taki was unable to locate anything of significant note during this time and would rest up pausing her sage meditation for a moment to rest only to pick up and keep herself still for a long length of time. She’d never meditated for this long before but in doing so was able to gather a large amount of senjutsu chakra before heading off, thought despite it all her night of sleep wasn't the most restful but she had least had some energy to spare enough to keep her set if a fight were to break out.

With Aki at her side gathering energy on her behalf the others would awaken it would seem that the storm would have calmed as time went on and she’d look back at the others who would ask if it was time for them to head off. "Yeah I tink we’re good.” she’d say, with everyone rested up hopefully the journey back would be an easy one, that mud however wasn’t promising. Souma stayed on guard while the others rested. She hadn't experienced any particular over-exertion and was well aware that letting Taki rest and focus was a significant tactical advantage. She conserved her energy frugally, staying alert to anything out of the ordinary, but careful not to let herself stress and burn more energy than needed.

When the storm stopped and the others arose, Souma frowned at the mud, glancing at Nanabi's leg. Dragging her foot out of the muck with every step would further aggravate the wound the longer they walked. That wasn't acceptable. She instead stepped over to Nanabi and calmly stated, "You will not be walking until we reach stable ground. I am going to fashion a harness to let you hang on my back. I will piggyback you until the mud is no longer a concern."

Souma proceeded to do exactly that, cannibalizing the lightning rod and weaving that length of steel cable into a locked harness Nanabi could rest her weight on, stabilized by draping her arms around Souma's shoulders. The kunai, she kept, and the javelin, she used as a walking stick. Presuming Nanabi obeyed the doctor's orders, she activated the Water Walking jutsu and simply strode across the surface of the mud with Nanabi. "She is alright. I can manage her until we get to more solid ground. My cables will have less reach but. Such is life."

The group progressed slowly through the still soft and wet mud, which hampered their ability to move, well... Until Souma decided to use the Water Walking technique and overcome that difficulty. The Captain quickly followed suit and then looked at the girl, cheeks blushing a bit. "Good thinking, Souma-san." he said in an embarrassed tone; his injuries were still affecting his mind, and he was feeling more distracted than usual, so not thinking about such a simple, yet useful technique made him feel a bit silly.

Taki, on the other hand, was just forcing her way through the mud, and with her physical strength, it was not much of a big deal to the Okada, so maybe that was why she decided to not use the Water Walking technique. Aki continued to focus on gather nature energy for when it was needed. The group would continue for a a little less than an hour, and things seemed peaceful enough. Well, until the Captain screamed in pain as he was hit by an arrow. Luckily, the arrow missed a vital spot, but it was now deeply stuck on his shoulder. The man fell down on the mud, grunting in pain.

Alerted by this attack, Taki and Souma would be able to notice another two arrows coming their way. One aimed at Taki's head, and another one at Souma's. There wasn't much time to react, so what would the two of them do?

[The Captain is hit by an arrow, but not in a lethal spot, but he is essentially taken out of combat. Two arrows heading towards Taki and Souma's face. If they don't react, they may get seriously injured].

As the two went along the mud didn’t seem to be too big of an issue for Taki however she did worry about the other members of her team as she trudged along however things seemed to be progressing peacefully without incident which was good but as always something like that wasn’t bound to last forever and after a short moment the sounds of a scream could be heard as captain Shinzo fell to a knee. Taki alerted to this would attempt to use her barely developed sensory techniques in order to scan the environment for enemies but with the infancy of her technique she was more than likely barely able to sense anything.

After a few scant moments arrows would exit from the trees and with her increased speed the girl would step back able to avoid danger, she’d spot one headed for Souma. "Hey Watch out!” the girl would shout, trouble was abound and it was coming in hot. "More snipers!?” she’d think. "Da hell did you guys do to make so many enemies.” the girl would joke trying to add some brevity to the situation as she made her way towards the captain in an effort to defend him.

"Ito think you can back us up?” he was the only one of the two who was in fighting shape next to herself and Souma, so she had hoped he was up to the task, for now Taki had hoped her meager sensory ability could give her a means to try and weed out the enemy.

Mud exploded upwards from where Souma and Nanabi had just been, obscuring the result of the arrow aimed at Souma's face- at least, until the telltale sounds of Tantetsu steel slamming shut clanged into the ears of those present. Already starting to form the seal for Body Flicker the moment she heard the captain cry out, responding in her capacity as the team's medic, the eruption of liquefied dirt disguised her movement, allowing her to drop Nanabi off her back next to the Captain. After rapidly assessing he wasn't in immediate danger, she ran through a few handseals, letting her protect them both with a Steel Shell jutsu! The metal dome slammed up around the two injured shinobi, hopefully set at ease as Souma patted the dome. "Stay put until we know the snipers are down."

Standing, Souma performed a few hand seals and completed preparation for another technique as she pulled the Fuma Shuriken off her waist and snapped it open, leaping up from behind the steel dome and hurling it blindly over Taki and Ito's heads in the direction that the arrows aimed for her and Taki had come from, aiming for the most likely outcropping of rocks to hide a sniper, or else simply for the nearest patch of earth to the ridgeline in that direction, leaving Souma perched on top of the dome, peering after the shuriken, the javelin walking stick she'd been using jammed into the mud beside the steel shell!

Taki's speed did allow her to avoid the arrow, but just barely; one thing that was clear was that whoever this archer was, he had an incredible precision. When she asked how did they make so many enemies, Ito just looked more nervous. "I... I d-don't know!" he said, showing clear signs of being distressed. But that was more than reasonable: his team was injured, and now they were in an ambush. Things were not looking good for squad 11.

Ito at least seemed ready to join the fight, but then he took an arrow to the knee. "ARGH!!!!" he screeched in pain as he dropped to the floor, now unable to truly help them out. Meanwhile, Souma dropped Nanabi near the captain after a quickly executed body flicker.

The medic threw a shuriken she had prepared at the place she thought the attacker was, but it just hit the ground, no one was there. Suddenly, from the complete opposite side, five shurikens flew towards then, but in a moment, those five shurikens were multiplied and became 50. Shuriken was about to rain on them, so how would they deal with that, and protect their injured companions?

As Taki stood attempting to garner a signal she was unable to locate anything, clearly her techniques still needed work but before she had the chance to react to the situation in front of her she’d spot a shuriken that would come their way and instantly split into nearly 50, the others were in danger and there was no quick way for her to be able to keep them safe.

However in that instant she’d place her hands along the ground. "Sage art, Inorganic animhation!” from there a large dome of hardened sediment would erect from the ground surrounding them and keeping them safe, whilst also ripping out of the ground and piercing everything that wasn’t her team.

The wooded area that surrounded them was now skewered with roughly 200 meters of inorganically manipulated sediment that was a harsh as stone, with the team still down and Taki drained of a good deal of Senjutsu chakra she’d give pause leaving a stalemate not sure of the destruction that she had wrought but nearly certain that almost everything around them was most definitely destroyed, with only some footpaths remaining.

Taki panted having a rough time adjusting to utilizing such a powerful technique. "Souma…check on da odda’s this barrier’ll buy us some time for me to regain my strength, but I need you to make sure dey’re okay.” she’d say looking over at the doctor. On her shoulder her small chimp companion stood beside her passing on the sage more energy that he had stored before attempting to return to meditation.

Souma's head snapped up as she heard Ito howl with his own injury, but before she could do much about that, Taki was already erecting a massive stone dome to protect them. She waved the Sage over towards herself as she darted over to carefully lift Ito with the cables stabilizing his leg to prevent undue pain or added damage. "Stay near. I think it is unlikely they will have enough force to easily smash through the stone, but it is likely they now know they have our Sage pinned down," she murmured. After all, Taki had just announced it when she proclaimed the technique she'd used. "-so if they -can-, it is likely they -will.- Losing you would be a huge blow to the village, and unless Team 11 is under fire for angering somebody personally, we can expect whatever our attackers can do to maximize damage to the village, they will do." As she spoke, her hands flicked through a few hand seals, producing a steel helmet from the earth, pushing up the edge of the smaller steel dome. Wedging her hands under, Souma tipped it partway over, using her cables to keep it from toppling entirely as she set Ito with the other two, snapping the arrowhead off and pulling the shaft free. "I am sorry, Ito-san, but I cannot mend your knee without the time to ensure the bones are properly set. To do otherwise could cripple you. I must ask you to bear with it."

The medic picked up the helmet and put it on, closing a latch-like mask over her face to ensure that only her eyes were still exposed. "Taki, I would like you to hold the edge of this dome. If they breach your barrier, you can let it go and we can face them together. If they collapse your barrier, we will need to be able to take cover from the stone as it falls. My dome should provide that protection. And if they do neither- we can wait a time, then break our own way out. I think you should leave defending them to me. You are the only one fast enough to intercept them after they attack and before they relocate. Does that sound like a plan?"

Taki's incredible attack came in handy as the sediments spread out at an incredible range. Still, it revealed that the technique had more than just shurikens: every single one of them had an explosive tag attached to it, and once they were intercepted, a chain explosion took place, creating a huge mushroom of fire in the area, sending shockwaves all over the place, but not enough to cause any damage to the members of squad 11 or the two kunoichi. Whoever it was that was out there, was quite the skilled shinobi, and he was adamant about ending their lives.

With the terrain essentially changed due to the attack and explosions, at the very end of it, Taki could see a man standing at around one hundred and fifty metres from her, a tall, slender woman with a serious expression. She had a green harb and purple hair and eyes, and she was carrying a large naginata with her, as well as a bow and arrow on her back. She seemed to stand there in defiance, and the moment the smoke cleared enough, she held her weapon. The blade glew in a green light, as if gusts of wind were concentrated in the area. "You are the first one to survive my ambush. Congratulations. But your luck is about to run out." she warned Taki with a rather serious tone.

Whilst the girl remained on the ground regaining her strength the barrier managed to hold up "Dis barrier ain’t goin down easy…only heat and break it apart and even if it does, it’ll revoit back inta sediment.” Shortly after that would be put to the test as the spires she had created were caught in the cross fire and as such reverted themselves back to normal as they cracked apart and broke down turning into sediment upon hitting the ground almost like dust.

"Damn what’s going on out dere…looks like dat snaipa survived.” as the girl sat up she’d take time try and compose some of her sage chakra. "Souma…make schure does things are sturdy.” the girl would note. As she remained composed within her seat she could hear the sounds of her spires breaking apart and falling to the ground as the earth returned to it’s original albeit crippled form.

"I need some time…” with that the girl and her small chimp companion would work to gather her senjutsu chakra together as their barrier held up doing her best to make sure that her crippled teammates were able to remain on the up and up. "If anoda one a dhose breaks through it ain’t gonna be good.” the girl would think as she resigned herself to her meditation. "If ya can try ta reinforce da walls.” the young sage would state.

The thudding explosions- dozens of them!- left Souma gritting her teeth. The ability to duplicate not just her opponent's shuriken but the tags attached to them was seriously concerning. The stone seemed to be holding up- for now- and it would collapse into soil if it was dismantled? That, at least, was relieving- but not in and of itself a solution.

"I can reinforce the walls. I would recommend leaving underground, and returning the same way. If our opponent actually breaches the barriers and enters, I have a much better chance of ending the fight unexpectedly, but I will need to know that you will not simply beat the walls down yourself so I know who is approaching without seeing."

She spoke as her hands flashed through the Steel Shell jutsu again. This time, though, once executed, the steel shell erupted up against the underside of Taki's stone dome, providing further protection on demand. "Return underground when you are finished, or if you are in need of healing. Go when you are ready-" Souma said, the same calm determination in her voice that she always showed in stressful situations. "-and I will see whether I can get any members of Team 11 on their feet again."

Time was short, so when she moved back to the injured members protected under the much smaller dome, she started with Shinzo, checking him, then Ito, then Nanabi, to see if she could get any of them back into fighting shape, checking for signs of poison and bone damage- the latter, especially, with Ito, having been wounded in the knee. Poison would be removed using the Water Scalpel technique, and if any bone damage was present, if she could set it, she would, and then apply the Mystical Palm technique to mend the wound and bone- if it could not be set, she had to leave it be.

"It is not the plan for any of you to rejoin combat. But it would be foolish not to help you defend yourselves as best as possible. For now, please remain under this dome, so you will not be directly endangered unless the stone dome and both steel domes are compromised." As she spoke, her hands flashed again, executing a Filter Technique to ensure that if worst came to worst, she would not paralyze herself alongside their opponent. Then, after tending to what ills she could, she ducked out from under the dome and finally let it THUD back onto the earth, jumping on top to push its edges further into the turf to seal it.

It would be important to make sure nobody inside would be exposed to the atmosphere outside if she had to fight. The smaller dome was still large enough to have plenty of air, so it was best to take precautions. For now, she hid behind the smaller dome, putting it between herself and the sound of the explosions- and thus the most likely line of approach.

The woman spit to the side and scoffed, with a smirk on the corner of her mouth. Souma was using her Kekkei Tota to try and keep herself and the members of Squad 11 safe, while Taki used the barrier to gather senjutsu energy together with Aki, but time was pressing, for their opponent didn't look like the type who would just let them do what they wanted.

The woman placed her Naginata on the ground, standing upright and the chakra glowing on the blade faded away, then, she performed hand seals at an absurd speed and in what looked like a split of a second, her technique was already executed, and all the numerous rocks scattered in the area were lifted and sent towards them as dangerous bullets. The pressure against the barrier was intense, but the barrier stood strong, even though the volley of rocks were constant and powerful.

"Hm... Sturdier than I thought... Well... Let's see if it will handle my Naginata!" and upon saying that, the woman grabbed the weapon, green chakra glowing on the blade and with a quick swing, a huge blade of wind was fired from it, heading towards the barrier. From the looks of it, it would be potentially capable of breaking it if they didn't do anything to reinforce it or add further barriers. That weapon was no joke.

Souma grimaced and resisted the urge to cover her ears at the sound of the stone barrage hammering against their defenses, letting out a slow sigh as the cacophony ceased. She highly doubted that was the last they would hear from their opponent, and that meant that they needed to keep the defenses shored up as long as possible. She'd break through eventually, but until then, the more time they bought Taki, the higher in value their trump card rose.

Flashing through another series of hand seals, Souma erected another steel barrier, leaving two exterior steel barriers thickening and supporting the stone dome above, and the smaller one over the injured. "Taki? Hang on and meditate as long as you can. She'll breach the barriers eventually, but we'll buy you as much time to collect as we can. Captain!!" She raised her voice as her cables pried up the edge of the smallest dome and she tucked herself inside with Team 11, crouching to flicker her hands through a few more seals and press her hands to Shinzo's chest, transferring Chakra into the Barrier specialist. "We need your barrier to add to our defenses to buy Taki a little more time. Can you manage that with my help?"

As the next wave of danger came Taki would feel the pressure from the sediment begin to crack and time was winding down,but thanks to Souma’s barriers they stood fast even after it was cracked by the slash of wind which she could feel come over her but despite it she would continue to meditate alongside her animal companion. "Souma da next one might bring dis thing down, I need you to reinforce it, see about getting Shinzo some chakra.” the girl would say, looking to her partner as she and her summon meditated together.

"Once I’m done I’ll run distraction but you gotta go, I’ll try to buy you guys some time.” Taki had only ever handled this much senjutsu chakra maybe 1 other time before but she needed to hold fast the barrier could only hold up for so long and the others could only stay upright for so long at this point but they needed to move, but with an unknown enemy on the outside Taki needed all the energy she could gather at this point but wasn’t certain how long the barrier could hold up for the team.

As she did so the girl would hear Souma’s words she realized the gravity of the situation her teammates were counting on her she needed to do the best this was the toughest test she'd faced up to this point. But she wouldn't let that shake her composure she couldn't even if her heart wanted to burst out of her chest she'd faced several different situations but nothing like this but she had to remain calm she was the sage afterall.

This means regaining Natural chakra takes one turn longer than it normally would, however the added benefit of movement whilst doing do definitely makes this technique worth the wait.

Taki has also increased the amount of weight she is able to lift by a massive margin in a way that makes her an even more fearsome taijutsu practitioner than before.

"R-roger that! I can help!" the Captain responded as he waived hand seals and created a chakra barrier around them to reinforce it. Still, his chakra barrier didn't last for very long, for when the wind blade hit it, it shattered down to pieces. The blade still made its way towards Souma's barrier, but despite it taking a great deal of damage, the second layer she had just erected had endured. Gathering his will, the Captain placed yer another barrier around them, but he was already reaching his limits due to the injury on his shoulder.

The woman arched one of her brows. "Hm? So he can perform barriers? You are a tricky bunch. But this ends now." and with those words uttered, the woman dashed towards them with extreme speed. She moved like a blur. As she closed in, she channeled even more chakra in her blade, and launched a very powerful attack, further empowered by her deadly weapon. "Saberu no Jutsu!" the blade of chakra, if nothing else was done, would be able to completely obliterate the barrier and their defences, which meant that a head on battle was becoming unavoidable.
