The wind blew gently, rustling the leaves overhead as Uriko arrived at a little clearing in the woods somewhere close to the Hidden Leaf Village. She had chosen this spot to meet with someone, because this clearing was the very place she had met with this person for the first time. Her memories went fondly to Azarea, then disguised as a snow-haired trickster, training her on how to use the Kinobori no Waza. Since then, she had met the Kumogakure ninja often, both on missions and in training, and if she were to give her opinion, had begun to see Azarea as something more akin to a sister than just a friend or acquaintance. It was nice that, despite Azarea being a ninja of Kumo, the redhead came often to the Hi no Kuni. 

The mission today was a relatively simple one. They were to serve as couriers of a message, being tasked to deliver a scroll to a shinobi posted in Hayabiru, a settlement situated between two groups of mountains, and as such one of the major passable points into the north of the Land of Fire, seeing as, except for the northwest, Hi no Kuni had mountains running across its northern border. The shinobi to receive this message was one Hyuuga Hibashi, stationed there to serve as a scout, using his doujutsu to watch the lands ahead for any hostiles who might want to gain access to the hinterlands of Hi no Kuni via the Hayabiru pass.

Traveling was fun. All the more when done with a friend.

It seemed pointless to hide these days. Time was slipping through Azarea's fingers faster then blood from a slit throat and she would know. The trajectory down which the Hyuuga clan was hurdling like a runaway cartwheel though time would tell if the detractors from the old regime would react fast enough to stop it's careening course before the point of impact was too far gone and all that was left for them was the dust of the past. The progress would not, could not, be stopped.

Not if Azarea had anything to do with it.

As the woman steps into the clearing she wonders if in the future one day the history books would herald her as an omen for good or for ill. Change is bloody and she can taste it on the wind. The taint of iron on her tongue leaving her lips curling back in a wide grin showing off Azarea's fangs. Work after all was work, but the woman would be lying if she didn't admit she was going to relish the task at hand.

"Good morning Urikohime are you ready to depart? We've got a long run ahead of us." The Red head practically chirped her mood an alarming mix of downright sunny and bloodthirsty. Which was frankly weird for the typically business like persona the woman usually wore while she worked only usually allowing her mask to slip in favor of something more playful when not on the job.

But oh... it would be so good to see Hibashi again.

At the sound of her friend's voice, Uriko looked up, her gaze resting on the redhead as the latter walked into the clearing, a wide smile on her face. Although Azarea was not the kind of person to make attempts to stifle her emotions, Uriko knew that on an average day, the redhead was more subdued, more calm, unlike herself. It was very likely that something had occurred to make Azarea happy... or perhaps the more accurate word was eager. The wide grin on the face of the Kumo ninja was evidence that Azarea was all but revving to go on this mission. Uriko was curious, but if Azarea did not seem willing to talk about it, she wouldn't press for answers.

"Oh my, someone seems rather motivated today, doesn't she?" the green haired girl replied with a little laugh. "It's great to see you too, Azarea-senpai. And yes, I'm ready! Let's do this!" So saying, the Leaf kunoichi took off, leaping into the trees and heading in a north-northeast direction. Her hometown, Heiwa, was also to the north of Konoha, although to get to it, they would have to be traveling more eastward. A wave of nostalgia washed over Uriko, but she shrugged it off. Maybe when she had time, she would go back there, just to have a look around. Not that it mattered, really. Everyone in her immediate family that she knew was dead.

"So, Azarea-senpai, is it the beautiful morning, or is there something else that is making you so elated today?"

The Kunoichi laughed bright and eager and teeth on full display with the force of her grin, "I'm just enjoying the fine weather and the prospect of seeing an old acquaintance." Azarea assures the other woman, but the eager pulse of her chakra beneath her skin and the way her hive hums soundless and excitedly assure she cannot lie to herself. For it's a rare day one is able to surprise a clan the prides itself on being all seeing even if she did have to play at being dead to manage the coming trick at hand.

"Hibashi and I have met before in the past and while I cannot say we're on good terms I am going to relish the look on his face when we hand him this scroll." She quips tapping the scroll in question that was set to be delivered where she had it tucked in her weapon pouch her scarlet eyes sparking with anticipation. She wasn't particularly surprised Hibashi had been more or less exiled to guard duty despite being a main branch Hyuuga. While Urashi had never given a single damn about his son Azarea has little doubt that Hibashi's ego and attempts to take Shigure's place had undoubtedly gotten out of hand and been taken as an insult by the former clan head.

Azarea wouldn't have been surprised if news of the fight had reached the arrogant Hyuuga and he'd been primed to take his place as head or force Shigure's sister to capitulate and become his wife given the strength of his family. He'd probably been eagerly anticipating the new Hyuuga Clan Head's death hoping the man would succumb to his injuries or other plots. While they'd been warned to keep an eye out for thugs or bandits on this mission perhaps hired to stop them the Kumo nin suspected that real threat might be Hibashi himself should he throw a temper tantrum. It wouldn't due to kill a Hyuuga after all, but Azarea would by lying if she said she wasn't hoping for an excuse to kick the odious man's face in.

Azarea laughed at Uriko's question, before revealing that she was familiar with the man known as Hyuuga Hibashi. Deep down, she was sure that even if the skies were stormy overhead, Azarea would still be apparently in such a good mood. If the redhead's memories of this Hibashi were friendly ones, it was rather unlikely that Azarea would be so fierce in her delight. Without asking questions, Uriko was already piecing things together. As Azarea had just mentioned, the Kumo nin really wanted to see the look on his face when he read the scroll, which meant Hibashi would be displeased by the news therein.

While the scroll had been sealed with the crest of the Hyuuga clan, which meant it was not to be opened until it was in the hands of the one to whom it had been addressed, the contents of the scroll were an open secret. Uriko had heard of the upheavals in the Hyuuga clan, and Shigure almost getting killed. She didn't have so many details, but she knew that at the end of it all, Shigure had ended up as the clan head, quite a large role for him, but one she was sure he could handle. He did seem quite responsible, after all, and while some would say that his reforms might be idealistic, Uriko was sure that he was doing the right thing. Still, there were a number of things she wished to know.

"Is Hyuuga Hibashi a member of the clan's main house, then?" she asked her colleague as they leaped among the trees. "I suppose only hyper-traditional members of the main house would be displeased about all clan members being equal, yes?"

"He is, but I do not believe he particularly cares about equality within his clan," Azarea confirms though the second statement is a guess at best. It had after all been years. Perhaps the ambitious and greedy little boy had grown up to be a kinder and more understanding man. Perhaps she was misjudging him though his reaction would give away his opinions easily enough.

The Hyuuga Hibashi she had met had cared for nothing, but power. Main clan or Branch clan so long as they were beneath him such was all that had really mattered which made him all the more dangerous. For freeing the Branch Clan would never be a thing he thought to do unless it benefitted him and the Main House would ensure it never would. "Hopefully he takes the news well though ah... he might attempt to take his anger out on me if he hasn't changed since we last met." She admits not wanting Uriko caught unaware. Thankfully the road is mostly clear and the two Kunoichi eat up the distance without much issue. Both having grown rather used to traveling as Azarea follows in the green haired girl's lead.

"You seem rather familiar with this area though. Have you been up this way before?" She inquires looking to change the topic with a smile as she notes the way Uriko moves with confidence.

From Azarea's words, it was very likely that Hibashi would, as Uriko had suspected, not be very delighted to discover the changes being made to his clan. It was a bit shocking to hear that Hibashi could possibly attack Azarea on reception of the news. Did he particularly hate the Kumo nin, or was he simply a volatile man? Whichever the case, Uriko was not sure she would like this fellow when they met. All the same, she would refrain from coming to conclusions until she met him. It was unwise, after all, to jump hastily to conclusions.

"Just being curious, Azarea-senpai," Uriko said, although in truth, the question on the tip of her tongue was born of more than mere curiosity, "but does this Hibashi have a penchant for being reckless... aside the fact that it seems like he really despises you?" Attacking a ninja from another village could easily be seen as a political event, and Uriko personally felt it would be unwise to go attacking a ninja who wasn't from your village, though there were people of more volatile dispositions whose fists moved faster than their brains If Hibashi was this sort of person, it would be good for Uriko to be aware of this beforehand, so that she could plan on contingencies and possible ways to defuse unpleasant situations.

Responding to Azarea's question about her familiarity with the area, Uriko nodded. "A number of times, in fact. Though my mother was a Konoha shinobi, my family came from Heiwa. It's somewhere northeast of here, so for a bit going north, I'll be in familiar territory. When our journey starts tending more westward, then I'll be clueless enough." Chances were very low that they would get lost, though. Uriko had a map in her waist pouch, and she had already even memorized most of its details.

"He used to be rather reckless yes, but that was many many years ago. He may have calmed a bit since then." Azarea admits for truthfully the years could have been kind and the man might have grown wiser. Such was her hope as she didn't want to deal with the paperwork the bastard trying to jump her would cause. "Though there's just as high of a chance he might hire some thugs or another to go after us on our way back." Or try something in disguise and off the books.

"But ah. I didn't know you were from Heiwa. I hear it's rather nice there." She murmurs having passed through the area once or twice, but never having stopped for long. Their conversation lapsing for a time as the pair continued on their journey eating up the miles towards their destination through the tree tops at a brisk pace until the green painted roof of the mountain lookout tower could be spotted in the distance along with a thin curl of smoke from a low fire.

"Looks like Hibashi is home or nearby at least." She muses and wonders if he would recognize her or if the man would need a little 'help' remembering.

It seemed that Azarea's dealings with Hibashi had been a long time ago; how long, Uriko could not say, but she hoped that, as Azarea had said was possible, time would have made a better man of him. Uriko almost stopped when her Kumogakure companion mentioned the possibility of the displeased Hyuuga sending thugs after them. "Wait, isn't that illegal?" she asked, trying not to sound alarmed. Since the two kunoichi were on Konoha-sanctioned business, disrupting their mission would be nothing short of criminal. "If he does try such a thing, I'll have such activity reported!" the green haired girl said rather heatedly, although there was a part of her that wondered whether she had any traction at all in the village to make a complaint and have it responded to.

Azarea seemed to have heard about Heiwa. Uriko was a little bit surprised, but not displeased, that Azarea had heard of her little village. Perhaps it wasn't so little anymore, with the beauty pageants which had become a staple of the village. Uriko remembered her grandfather complaining about them, although his gripe was that men from other places would cart off the Heiwa girls, and the lads of Heiwa would have no one to marry. The man was funny in his own way. Uriko still missed him.

She saw the smoke before she saw the green roof, and Azarea's words informed her that they had arrived. They had traveled with good speed today. "Um, I was thinking, Azarea-senpai, if Hibashi-dono seems hostile towards you, maybe I could do the talking?" she asked. "I've been told I have a knack for diplomacy."

"You have to be careful of clan politics Urikohime. We can only report him if we can actively prove Hibashi-san sent the thugs. Otherwise we are just falsely accusing a member of a prominent shinobi clan of treason against his fellow nin and allies. Which making such accusations without basis can get you in trouble in and of itself." Azarea explains her voice soft, but there's a seriousness to the woman's tone. A weight of caution that begs Uriko not to be reckless as the two approach the outpost.

"I don't mind allowing you to do the talking, but do at least allow me to greet my old acquittance. If it causes us trouble I'll compensate later, but don't begrudge me this moment." The Kumo nin requests her grin growing pointed and wolfish with each step up the stairs her senses picking up the man moving to greet them likely having spotted them with his doujutsu. His chakra signature perturbed and annoyed, but not yet alarmed.

That would change shortly as Hibashi tugged open the door mouth opening as if to speak, but Azarea beat him to the punch. "Hello again Hibashi-kuuuun. Did you miss me?" The red head chirps drawing out the word as she grins wide and toothy as she watches recognition spark in the man's gaze.

Hibashi wasn't the most skilled with the Byakugan within his clan. Holding the rank of Chuunin despite his age, his range was limited to only about three kilometres, but he had still perceived the approach of the two women from afar. At first, it sparkled him some curiosity to see the exiled walking around these parts, he doubted she would ever set foot on the Land of Fire again after what happened to her, but alas, she was there. The green-haired girl was unknown to him, but considering she was from the Hidden Leaf Village, they were likely coming here together on official business, likely to hand them some orders that were too sensitive to trust to a messenger bird or something.

He was the member of the main house responsible for all Hyuuga shinobi in the Heiwa area, and even those who outranked him as shinobi were still subservient to him due to their position as members of the branch house, so, in a way, he was in charge of his rank superiors, which gave him a position of prestige he enjoyed; it was the best thing he could get since he was not in line to inherit the leadership of the clan.

As the two approached, he would take the initiative to open the door, he was ready to talk, but Azarea beating him to the punch would leave him with his mouth agape and an annoyed expression on his face. "I miss the fact you didn't have a funeral. What do you want, exiled? Feeling homesick or something?" he huffed, folding his arms in front of his chest. "I'm a busy man, unlike you, so state your business, or just fuck off, will ya?" he said, rolling his white eyes in their orbits.

Sadly, Azarea was right. Belonging to prosperous clans meant that when a clan member misbehaved there would likely be a bit of partiality in judging cases of misdemeanor, especially when there wasn't enough proof available on the side of the accuser. What made matters worse was the fact that bringing such an accusation would probably have a target painted on your back for a long time, if you were lucky, for the rest of your short life, if you weren't. Uriko did not have either the strength nor resources to deal with such things, so she nodded silently, seeing the wisdom in Azarea's words. She could only hope and pray that Hibashi would be a temperate man.

As the two Genin approached the door, it swung open to reveal a man with cropped dark hair and the telltale white-lilac eyes of the Byakugan. He seemed about to speak, but Azarea beat him to it. Evidently, he was not pleased to see her. Referring to Azarea as 'exiled' finalized the suspicion Uriko had ever had since she met Azarea for the first time in the forest near Konoha. The redhead was formerly a Konoha ninja. Her affinity with insects, plus what she had noticed when checking Azarea for wounds, meant the now Kumo ninja was definitely from the Aburame clan. It made no sense to mention that she had arrived at said conclusions, though.

"Greetings, Hyuuga-dono," Uriko said with a slight bow, taking care to be as polite as she could afford to be, though she was not sure she really liked this fellow, "we have been sent here by Konohagakure to deliver you this message. Azarea-senpai, the scroll, if you please?" It was at this point she wished she, not Azarea, had the scroll. In any case, Uriko was sure he wouldn't invite them for dango and tea, and even if he did, she was going to be quite wary accepting such. It would be best to have few words with him, and leave soonest.

"Awww missed you too Second-Best~" Azarea quipped with mock fondness, but didn't push the conversation beyond that. She was certain Urikohime would have questions for her upon their return journey, but in that moment she couldn't really bring herself to care when faced with a reoccurring childhood thorn in her side. Truthfully she'd never really understood what the deal with Hibashi was, but he'd never ceased to enjoy interrupting whatever she and Shigure had been playing at the time. Always coming over with a sneer to tug at her hair and wreck whatever game they were enjoying before tossing a snide comment and storming off in a huff or sometimes running off the few times the boy had made the mistake of not minding Azarea's fangs.

However, as her partner requested the Kumo nin would pull the scroll from her leg pouch and pass it first to Uriko who would inevitably likely pass it to Hibashi. The red haired woman leaning back against the railing her stance relaxed and casual... though no one could mistake the looseness of her muscles for anything other then readiness disguised as false ease. A small fanged smirk, familiar and infuriating warming her lips her fangs having long since grown out from the blunted teeth she'd been forced to keep as a child. They'd both grown though in a surprisingly opposite fashion or so she finds as her scarlet eyes flicks over the man's appearance. Where Hibashi had as a child worn his hair long it was now cropped short and wild the same as Azarea herself had given up on attempting to keep her own mane of red hair tame. The Kunoichi letting out a soft sarcastic little snort.

Kagura Mind's Eye
Born with a natural affinity towards sensing chakra like her Father before her Azarea has trained herself to become a capable sensory shinobi. Unlocking the Kagura's Mind's Eye, and with it, the ability to passively sense chakra signatures in the distance (when using the technique), thus allowing her to not only track, but also memorize a person's chakra signature, even if barely any chakra is being used. Due to her proficiency with this technique, Azarea can currently passively sense chakra up to 500 meters and actively at 2.5 kilometers.

When Azarea called him "second-best", the man frowned his brows in irritation. "Better to be second-best than the side bitch, uh?" he scoffed, rolling his eyes in his orbits in clear irritation before turning them to the green-haired girl who was speaking to him now. He remembered just how infatuated Shigure had been as a child, even though he was engaged to a member of his own clan, as tradition dictated. She at the very least seemed to know the pecking order and was addressing him with the proper suffix. "Seems like you at least know your place. What do you want?" he said with his harsh and unfriendly tone, quite the contrast with the way his cousin, Shigure, generally behaved. Then, when she said she was there to deliver a message from the village, he arched one of his brows. That wasn't entirely far-fetched, but he wondered what kind of message warranted the presence of an exiled shinobi who was now aligned with the Hidden Cloud.

Once the scroll passed from hand to hand and finally reached the man, he was quick to open it and read it. As he eyes travelled through the lines, his expression grew more and more aggravated. He was not happy with the contents of the scroll and the orders it had in it. When he finished reading it, he rolled it again and furiously tucked it inside the inner pocket of his cape, only to glare at the two women. "What the fuck is the meaning of this? Main and branch are equal? In what fucking world?!" he was so upset, his Byakugan was activated on his anger alone.

Hibashi raised his index finger, and pointed it right to Urikohime's face. "I want explanations! Do you expect me to just... What? Just treat those lowly servants as my equals?! Who the hell does Shigure think he is? He may be leader in name, but that doesn't mean anything! This is not the Hyuuga way!" the man roared, lashing out his frustration at the women before him.

Azarea replied to his rudeness with snide and sarcastic fondness, leading Hibashi to refer to her as a 'side bitch'. Well, that was a... curious thing to call Azarea. Uriko could not really get the nuances behind the insults, but she was sure it was something that arose from the shared history of those two. In any case, her mind was already trying to connect dots, and while she didn't have all the details in order to arrive at a reasonably informed conclusion, her suspicion was that Hibashi, who was a main house Hyuuga, had been vying in his earlier days with Shigure for prominence. Seemed Shigure was the victor in this circumstance.

Whatever the case, Hibashi was a premium piece of horse shit, and while Uriko wanted to tell him so, she refrained from doing so, not even showing in the slightest that his insult, to someone he didn't even know, had offended her. As a matter of fact, she responded with a rather gracious smile, as she took the scroll from Azarea and handed it to Hibashi. If he thought she was a doormat, he was sorely mistaken. But Uriko was not going to retaliate at once; she would wait until she thought her words would bite deeper, and she knew they would when he read the contents of the scroll. And he responded just as she had thought he would.

Uriko remained with the gracious smile on her face, exactly the same expression a mother would have when she was amused with the antics of her annoyed child, but was intent on letting the child realize that no amount of screaming would change the situation. Except, remove the love and maternal care, and what you'd get was a condescending smile, made all the worse because it did not particularly appear to be so. At his petulant demand for explanations, Uriko replied smoothly, her voice calm and unruffled. "When we return, I'll be sure to file a special report on the outcome of this mission, and specify that you require more in-depth elucidation of this apparently difficult-to-understand message, Hibashi-dono." Perhaps what would seem all the more insulting was how helpful Uriko sounded in her delivery of her subtle revenge.
