Beat The Heat

Kaze no Kuni was hot. Even this late in the seasons the sun beat down relentlessly a stark contrast to the biting cold and raging storms of her own homeland as Azarea sat in the shadow of a worn boulder watching the sun chart it's way towards the horizon. It would grow colder and hopefully provide better accommodations for traveling once the burning orb in the sky dipped below the distant dunes. As the red haired Kumo nin, her hood tugged up to shield her face from the biting sun stared out across the hazy dunes. Her eyes unfocused with the heat as she relied instead upon her chakra senses searching for the harmonies and sparks of color and scent that were not the little tiny snatches of notes that made up the natural desert life. The woman lurking near the border as she awaited her escort, hands tucked into her pockets. The long red hair of her wild mane sticking to the back of her neck with sweat as for a moment she indulges the idea of just chopping the entire thing off, but her hair had always been unruly. She'd only look the worse for it if she showed up with a rough knifed pixie cut and kami forbid she run into anyone of actual importance looking like that. While the likelihood of her ever encountering the Kazekage in her time doing the grunt work to help with the solidification of this alliance was unlikely she knows how her luck goes.

"I really hope that rumor that the desert drops to freezing once the sun goes down is true." She mutters as the woman picks up the distant sparking signature of an approaching shinobi. Truth be told she was somewhat looking forward to seeing Suna's rumored night sky though at this rate she might need to pick up some face coverings and other gear once she reaches the village. A light burn already starting to creep across the bridge of her nose and the tops of her cheeks despite her jacket hood.

Born with a natural affinity towards sensing chakra like her Father before her Azarea has trained herself to become a capable sensory shinobi. Unlocking the Kagura's Mind's Eye, and with it, the ability to passively sense chakra signatures in the distance (when using the technique), thus allowing her to not only track, but also memorize a person's chakra signature, even if barely any chakra is being used. Due to her proficiency with this technique, Azarea can currently passively sense chakra up to 500 meters and actively at 2.5 kilometers.

Aburame Azarea

There was always something calming about running through the Suna Sands.  Zakku loved the rush of air and temporary weightlessness he felt every time he flung himself off a rock or really high sand dune.  It was a freeing feeling especially after being stuck inside the city for awhile.  With no new missions and left to his own devices in his growing operation he was bored.  Even his mangas had become dull.  

Getting an assignment to escort someone from the border felt like a great excuse to finally stretch his pent up legs.   Kicking up sand as he ran he expertly avoided anything that had popped out in front of him.  Cactus, animals, stray rocks, he avoided each one with expert movements.  Spotting a figure hiding from the sun Zakku turned towards it.  Slowing down Zakku would come to a walk tucking his hands into his pockets.  "Yo.  You Aburame-Sama?"  He asked arching his eyebrow eyeing her over.  "Sorry I took a bit longer than they promised.  Had to avoid a few predators feeding grounds."  He lied.  He'd spent a few extra minutes messing around and jumping between rocks and taking longer routes.

'Aburame,' The name was always a bit of a smack to the face, but a bug was a bug was a bug regardless of it's name so with a well concealed grimace Azarea rose from her seat and greeted her escort with a polite nod, "Just Azarea is fine. I'm not at leave to use the clan name." She explains with a small bitter smile, but now is not the time for the past.

"And you are Burokon-san?" She inquired with a tilt of her head her scarlet eyes flicking over her and gaze curious. Up close his chakra danced like a live current carrying the scent of lighting and dusty sand like an electric storm bringing dancing death, but rarely rain. The harmony of his signature one that sang with the freedom and thrill and a well placed lied, but rang with such joy Azarea couldn't bring herself to be irritated even if she'd been left to wait a little longer then necessary.

"Thank you for agreeing to escort me. Is there any advise you can give about crossing the desert? I've been channeling chakra to the soles of my feet to stay above the sand where it deepens, but I don't know what to look for to avoid predators." She inquires tugging her jacket hood a little lower and wishing she'd packed heavier duty sunscreen. She'd grown lax thinking that just because she didn't burn in Kumo's high thin air that the same might not happen here. In Kumo she wasn't constantly sweating off her sun protection.

'Smooth Dude.' He mentally kicked himself as she said she wasn't at leave to use the clan name.  Zakku was immediately drawn to her red eyes.  Then he saw the scars.  Much worse than the ones that ran over his arms from recklessly using his Chakra.  He wondered what had happened to her but thought it best not to dig too deep after just meeting. 

"Call me Zakku please."  Offering a smile he crossed his arms.  Watching her tug her hood down more he remembered people not native to the sand were hit harder by it than he was.  "Mostly stay hydrated.  Did you have enough left in your canteen for a trip across the desert?"  Shrugging lightly he tapped his foot on the sands. "I'm more used to running fast enough that I don't have to worry about the deeper sand effecting me.  Plus it helps to know where to avoid the bottomless parts.  As for predators as long as we avoid the feeding grounds we'll be fine."  Having travelled the desert many times Zakku spoke each word with confidence.

"As long as we stick to the traders paths we should be fine.  Maybe even catch a ride if one of them has a cart."  Zakku explained and motioned for her to follow.  He would lead her to a trail made from wagons pulled by steeds.  "So what brings you out to enjoy Kaze no Kunis beautiful sights?"  Holding his arms out to show off the countless sand dunes and stray rocks.  He was loyal to his land but had to admit that there was very little to see in the deserts.  At least for now.  Until he turned Sekara into Sunas money making land.  That was still in motion though.

"I see. I'll need to work on my speed then." Azarea quipped with a fanged smirk, "I'm afraid while I've got decent enough stamina from my travels I'm likely not quite up to par with you Zakku-san so I'll depend on my chakra control for now." She agrees acknowledging his request in regards to his name with a good natured dip of her head. His gesture at the endless deserted expanses around them besides the occasional rock and dry bush to break up the dunes earning a soft chuckle from the woman as she follows him out onto the more beaten path her steps light.

"I should have enough water to last me a day or two even in this dry weather, but I think the first purchase I will be making will be a water scroll once we reach your village," She answered with a shake of her head. After all it was high time she picked up some practical fuinjutsu specially when her most recent element. Suiton would do her very little good out here unless she formed it herself from chakra.

"And ah I promised some time ago that I would pay Sunagakure a visit when Arashi-san was so kind as to stop by Kumogakure. I've been told you have some rather interesting training grounds and Kaze no Kuni has a night sky worth seeing at least once in your lifetime." The young woman explains keeping a brisk pace alongside her escort as she stretches her senses outwards committing his advise in regards to these 'feeding grounds' to memory.

"And the mission pay is nice too." She adds with a little playful wink.

Aburame Azarea

"Oh so you've already met Arashi-san.  Groovy.  That's one less person you'll have to meet."  Zakku remembered Arashi taking a few trips outside the country but he'd never been told who she met or much of what she'd done.  He was glad his friend had made some friends on her adventures.  Kami knew she needed more friendly faces.  "The night skies are really nice here.  Because of how vacant and open our desert is you get more stars than other places.  Except maybe Yuki."  While he did complain about being bored in his village Zakku couldn't help but admit the nights were beautiful.  Sitting on a roof with his old team drinking and smoking staring at the stars.

Shrugging he couldn't complain about the pay especially when his pay came with a note explaining which fine was being taken from his pay.  "Despite what a few people will tell you we're doing fine out here.  It's the underworld that's suffering.  Apparently not having any new customers makes your business pretty stale and slowly runs out.  Who knew?"

"I guess that makes a certain amount of sense. The Underworld tends to flourish where there's a lot of tourist and lucrative merchants so if you run things lean then they'll suffer." Azarea mused with a loose shrug as she kept in brisk step with the man her gaze constantly skirting over the horizon.

"Arashi-san was a very pleasant training partner. While I'm not really up to snuff to be too much of a challenge for her I'm hoping to show her how much I've grown since our last meeting." The woman adds with a bright grin looking forward to the future encounter. "Can you tell me a little about Suna or yourself? It looks like even at our speeds it will be a long road. Do you think we'll reach the village by tonight or would you prefer to bunk down? I'm a mobile campsite for the most part." The Kumo nin inquires glancing towards her azure haired companion with interest.

"You wanna know about me?"  Zakku arched an eyebrow blushing slightly.  He never thought he was interesting enough to know about nor had he ever put any thought into actually describing himself to someone from outside the village.  "Uh.  Well.  I'm the current Captain of Operation Team 1.  Me and Ayukawa-Chan are the only members of the team but we kick plenty of ass.  I like to read.  I'm currently training my muscles to accept my raiton to enhance my speed."  He gave the devil horns and chuckled at his crimson haired companion.  

Looking up at the sun Zakku gauged their time and current path.  "Unless you're up for walking all night we'll have to find a place to camp before the sun fully goes away."  He admitted as he stuffed his hands into his pockets and removed a blunt.  Placing it between his lips he lit it with a quick zap from his fingers.  "You're not scared of the dark are you?"  Looking at Azarea he'd offer a playful smirk.  "Tell me a bit about yourself.  They only told me your name and to look out for someone with red hair.  They really didn't exaggerate on how noticeable it is."

Long Conversations Make For Short Walks

"Well we could talk about the sand, or the rock, or the road instead, but I think we're both by far the two most interesting things around at the moment," Azarea teased sly and playful, "Besides Suna is about as opposite from Kumo as one can get so I imagine what may be mundane to you is brand new to me." She adds gesturing good naturedly to their differences in apparel and appearances as if to prove her point.

"Though you're not wrong about my hair. The color red and I are about synonymous with one another. More than a few folks have joked I should have been named Akane instead of Azarea." She jests at her own expense with a chuckle as she narrows her gaze at the dipping sun. The prospect of cool nights tantalizing as she arches her brows at the azure haired man as it was her turn to smirk.

"I'm a sensory shinobi so being unable to see isn't really the end all begin all for me when it comes to functioning. However with how heavy the moon is I think we won't need to worry much about the dark." She points out her second brow joining her first smugly at the chuunin's attempts to startle her. "If anything I should be asking you if you can handle the cold given I hear it gets down right bitter at night here." Azarea adds, "Don't worry I'll keep you from freezing to death if you can't beat the cold." She quips with a waggle of her brows clearly riling him up for a bit of good natured fun.

"As for myself..." She hadn't really thought too much on her answer, "I'm mostly working on earning my place hopefully on the war council when I make chuunin and focusing on improving my capabilities with ninjutsu. My natural element doton isn't the best for offensive technique so I've recently leaned into a secondary one to supplement it though I don't think it will be as useful in teh desert." She admits eyeing the dry parched dunes around them.

Aburame Azarea

Hearing that she's a sensory shinobi reminded him of how little he actually had in being able to track others without being able to see his target.  He was often jealous of Asahi and his sensory abilities.  His were so cool and had saved his ass a few times.  Rolling his eyes with a smile at her comment about keeping him out of the cold.  "Thank you.  I should warn you though, I'm a sleep talker."  He joked shaking his head.

"Yeah you might have a tiny problem using your doton at certain areas.  Only a few.  The closer we get to the mountains there's a bit higher of a chance of you finding more earth at least."  Zakku was glad his Raiton worked in any environment he'd been in.  Even when he was crippled with just one arm he still had a way to use one of his favorite jutsus.  "Why do you wanna join the war council?  I'm at least halfway sure they just sit around and do paperwork all day.  That sounds boring as hell to me."  He admitted.  He rather be moving on missions and not sitting inside all day.  It's why he either half assed or just didn't do paperwork.  Yes its gotten him in plenty of trouble.  "I'd rather stay on a team.  Maybe get to train some Genin and corrupt them like I was."  He chuckled.

Goals

"I've had worse bunk mates. I'm sure you'll be fine." She quips smirk never fading as the sunset began to paint the skies in golds, reds, and oranges coloring the dunes like a gilded sea around them. It was a beautiful sight. As though someone had taken a can of paint and splashed it across the surroundings.

"And I was considering becoming a bodyguard, but such duties have been relegated to the Guardians now and Guardians are expected to stay in the village. I'd like to travel and see the world more and help with my village's diplomacy which is part of the duties of War Council." Azarea explains with a loose shrug, truthfully while she knew she was earning her keep well enough she didn't think herself important or trusted enough to be handed one of Kumo's treasure even less take it out of the village in order for her to continue her work in other countries.

"Eventually I want to become Jounin Hanchou so I will probably take a team at some point during my career as a chuunin." She adds with a shake of her head.

"Though it's good to know about where and when my doton will work. I figure burrowing through sand is not too different than earth." Azarea muses before casting a thoughtful glance the man's way, "Is being a teacher your goal? I could imagine you with your own team of brats." She admits for it's an easy enough picture to see.

Aburame Azarea

Zakku didn't know that the war council actually left the land.  Traveling to other places sounded like fun though.  Looking at the setting sun he clicked his tongue.  "I'd like to think I'd help make a difference.  Whether that's a good or bad thing that's to be seen."  He'd be better than his first sensei that much was true.  He'd encourage and help grow them into better shinobi than he ever would be.  

Stopping at the remains of someone elses camp site Zakku kicked the ashes of what used to be a makeshift fire pit.  "We'll camp here tonight.  Thankfully someone else has stayed here before so we know this place is safe."  Pulling out one of his metal stakes he started stacking what was left of the wood.  "Hungry?  I got extra snacks in my pack.  Not exactly a meal but will at least make sure you don't go to sleep with an empty stomach."

Tent

"No shame in that. I think you'd probably be a rather good genin sensei. You seem to have a decent amount of patience." Azarea agrees as the pair stop near the remains of an abandoned campsite. The Kumo nin glancing around until she finds a discarded stick tall enough for her efforts and drives it into the ground about three hands breadth from the fire. Pulling out a few kunai as she sticks them into the earth up to the circles on their hilt's in a square formation around the stick. Then... dragging her hand from the top of the stick down she began to weave. Fine almost silk like webbing spooling from her wrist as she formed a yurt cocoon like tent. Leaving a fine small opening at the top to filter out smoke so they could keep the fire and it's warmth inside without fear of suffocation. The woman walking in a steady circle as she worked until the tent itself was done. The entrance a blanket like opening they could lift and slip in and out of or latch down should a desert storm kick up in the night.

"There..." She murmurs satisfied with her work as the woman straightens and flashes Zakku a smile, "I've got a few bamboo containers of soup in my pack we can heat up over the fire. Between them and your snacks neither of us should go to sleep hungry." The Kumo nin offers as she grabs said pack and moves it into the tent happy with how the material kept out the worst of the nights chill. With it they wouldn't need anything more then a small fire to maintain the warmth within.

Born with a natural affinity towards sensing chakra like her Father before her Azarea has trained herself to become a capable sensory shinobi. Unlocking the Kagura's Mind's Eye, and with it, the ability to passively sense chakra signatures in the distance (when using the technique), thus allowing her to not only track, but also memorize a person's chakra signature, even if barely any chakra is being used. Due to her proficiency with this technique, Azarea can currently passively sense chakra up to 500 meters and actively at 2.5 kilometers.

Zakku stared in fascination as the webbing became shelter.  He'd never seen anything like it.  "Whoa.  Ok so Red hair, dark fashionable clother, and spider webbing.  A-...Are you a black widow?" He asked only partially joking.  Never seeing the webbing before the blue haired chunin was amazed by it and stared in awe at it.  "What is this stuff made out of?" 

"This doesn't look like any cobwebs i've ever walked into."  He now understood what she meant about helping keep him out of the cold.  This would do nicely to keep the heat inside and the cold out.  To say he was impressed was an understatement.  Zakku began to wonder what all Azarea could do with it.

Eyeing the way the sky seemed to go only further red the woman frowned. The stars should be peaking through the sky soon along with the clouds, but the distance seemed more gray then clear. The wind picking up as it tossed the woman's long crimson locks this way and that. Though Zakku's comment did earn an amused laugh, "Ah... this is a sort of fibrous cocoon. I mostly used it for sleeping bags, cover, and small shelters. It's quite strong, water proof, and insulates well, but is not as good as say that silk Kiri uses or other materials." She explains and should the azure haired man reach out to touch it he'd find the material dusty and soft like a bugs cocoon.

"Come on in. Let's get dinner heated up." She offers stepping inside as she begins to setup her own sleeping roll and accommodations, pulling out the thermos's of soup she'd been sent off with by Shigure and a small metal cooking pot to heat it with. "I think my next investment is going to be some good scrolls. If I'm to continue traveling like this I might as well travel in comfort. Storage scrolls are just too useful." Azarea murmurs clicking her tongue lightly at her mission packs contents. It'd be best if she didn't have to carry the thing around and risk snagging it on the road.

Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria [Queen's Coronation Regalia]
A mutated variant of the Aburame clans Yūdai no Omorejō ["Bewildering Grandeur of the Alpha"] resulting from the subsequent poisoning of Azarea's former Yūdai no Omorejō hive to prevent potential hijutsu theft. While the Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria lacks the Yūdai no Omorejō size instead Azarea's hive has maintained the ability to produce alpha pheromones and commanding vibrations. Evolving instead to hyperspecialize in these two aspects allowing them to produce pheramones and vibrations strong enough to be detected by human hearing and sense of smell.
