Kaito stood at the entrance of the grounds of a temple in Nohara no Kuni. Stone walls towered over himself, truly an incredible sight! Kaito felt like the very stories he and his brother often told of themselves could be made true here! Well they weren't untrue- the world of fiction was born from reality- and like an epic lineage it could then birth that legend into fact! But... well... though he would never say it out loud, a walking statistic did not a legend make. Walking through the gates, the young Futago found himself in a sprawling complex of order and care. Truly, this was where myth could be transmuted into truth!

Kaito would spend a majority of his time exploring every piece of the complex he could. The monolithic pillars, a room with a titanic statue- it was honestly straight out of a novel! Kaito was half tempted to attempt scaling the buildings to get a good look around the area. But the glares from the temple guardians once he looked like was about to jump told him to do otherwise. For now he'd scour for something that could inspire him in a way nothing else had. To find some stepping stone that he could take.

Akatsuki was still one for travel, but she had grown less so in the past year. There was less reason, now, than there had been, before, to venture forth and uncover all the land in the world. She had seen much of it already--three times over she had stepped foot in nearly every country there was in the world. And there was much of it that she had grown to love--in truth, she was not opposed to the idea of throwing a dart on a map and staying in whatever country it landed on for the rest of her life. She was no longer searching for her brother, so there was no reason for her to keep moving, she supposed.
But, instead, she had found her way back to Nohara no Kuni--which had always been a home to her, she supposed. It was where the temple of her deity resided, it was where she had spent many years studying and training and healing... And, perhaps, she sought merely to do those things, again. There was no need to run off, she had somewhere that she belonged.
Sort of.
Akatsuki wasn't certain if she'd ever truly feel like she belonged, but...
When she prayed to her god and heard his voice, it was difficult for her to feel anything else, and that granted her peace and comfort where others could not give her such ease of mind. Perhaps, even if the rest of the world rejected her, or despised her, or betrayed her or forgot about her--if nothing else, the Yōkai did not; and that alone was enough.
"Think of of me--think of me waking; silent and resigned. Imagine me trying too hard to put you from my mind," Akatsuki sang in her native tongue with a smile on her lips, her voice clear and light like silver bells as she watered the flower beds planted in her garden. There were Casablanca Lilies, Lavenders, Bat Orchids, and Forget-Me-Nots. Some of the little blue flowers were woven into a braid in her hair like a circlet. She stopped for a moment when she could have sworn she heard the patter of excited feet racing around the inside of the temple, and her attention would be drawn to the culprit.
Setting down the watering can on the edge of a stone water fountain, Akatsuki walked back into the temple through the back door that she'd left open and she would stop for a moment as her mix-matched eyes landed on the boy who had been running around the place. He didn't seem to be causing any trouble and the woman was hardly upset with him, but, still, he was certainly a new face.
"Hello there," she spoke lightly to get his attention. "Are you lost?" What was... he doing here?

Kaito's overzealous journey was interrupted by an angelic singing. Stopping near a door, Kaito would approach slowly until he saw a facilitating display; an almost ethereal woman tended to her garden. His grand adventure put on pause as he simply watched the Lady of Snow watered a colorful display of fauna- before pattering away once he saw she had noticed. He wasn’t sure why he was running- but he had a feeling he had intruded on something. Besides, he didn’t stare at people. People stared at him! This simply would not do.

However the woman seemed to catch up with ease. Upon receiving the question, Kaito would regain his composure and answer in his boisterous voice. "Lost? Only if you mean ‘lost in wonder’. This palace is truly a beauteous structure of myth and legend!” Kaito would stand proud as he motioned towards the temple around him. Upon close inspection, it would be obvious Kaito was not an ordinary child. For one his vernacular was impressive- although that was founded more in him being a colossal geek. His furred clothing would be the more obvious give away- and to a trained eye it would be notable that his leather 'armor' was restricting his movement more than it should. "An arena of the gods! Truly a fitting place for those who seek glory and triumph to ascend beyond their mortal limits!” But the way he was amazed by honestly simple and not overly flashy architecture would give away the woman was still talking to a child.
