"WELL! Finally, some respect!" Miroru chirped happily as she read over the scroll from the Hyuuga household, stuffing it into a waterproof scroll case and then into her backpack for safekeeping. She hucked the whole pack- full of all sorts of odds and ends for pranks and mission utilities- onto her back, then grabbed her gunbai and hopped out her window. A couple handseals later, the pipsqueak redhead was scampering across the village a few stories off the ground, whistling to herself as she thought of what she'd share with this Raika girl to help her prepare for her exams!

Raika wasn't a name she'd run into before, so she figured it had to be a pretty new genin. Someone too young to have been in school with her and Itsuki. She was pretty sure they'd have crossed paths if she was older!

"Miroru, your mother just entered your room looking for you." A small, masked face poked up from the hood of her jacket beneath her flak best. A tiny fox called a Bakenokawa, it was, and it- among with the others in that hive mind- were her constant companions.

"Oh, crap. Tell her I got asked to tutor a genin, and I'll be back in time for dinner! Ask her to make extra rice!" She squawked as she hopped down a couple yards at a time until she came down to a scrambling stop in the training yard she'd been asked to meet Raika in. "A little early... oh, well. Plenty of time to unpack!"

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

Raika towers over most people already at six-foot-three-inches, so she's fairly easy to spot for most people, and even easier for her to spot others before they see her. Still, with her somewhat wide shoulders and heavy musculature, it was a bit of a struggle to make it through the crowds of Konohagakure; the village of Kawa had been far less populous than this ninja village. Granted, the training grounds there had also just been the swamps and deadlands that surrounded the village, so that made them significantly easier to reach. It's not like anyone had been in a hurry to get out to the corpses in the swamp to learn about their fates, much less to train in the dangerous wilderness.

The black-haired Hyuga had been ordered to go and train with some Uchiha, and when she'd been about to deny the demand and call herself the Hyuga heiress, she'd been given a little more information on this stranger: she was apparently the only participant in the last Chuunin Exams to go through without a single demerit. That had been reason enough for her to finally actually accept an order, though Raika had thoughtfully agreed to the "suggestion" that she go and learn from this stranger woman. She'd been expecting another adult, so when she does actually reach the training ground, she looks right past the orange-haired girl, whom had her back turned towards the Hyuga at this point, easily able to look straight over her and all around. Her musculature was on full display, with strong shoulders, arms, and even a powerful six-pack of abdominal muscles displayed by the simple black tank top she was wearing. She also seemed filled with nervous energy, taking off, then putting back on the Hung Gar rings on her wrists. Granted, they were heavy and a little uncomfortable, but she wanted to be even stronger than she was at this point. Her legs are covered with similarly dark, baggy pants, with her feet encased in the hard leather of combat boots, providing her with full protection from her supple waist down to her feet. She also double-checks her weapon pouches, which contained various thrown weapons, though she didn't use them all that often.

Raika realizes she has too much nervous energy, and she busies her hands instead with pulling her ponytail back and securing it; after several minutes, nobody else seems to be on their way to the training field, and she looks back at the orange-haired girl.

"You wouldn't happen to be this Miroru girl, would you?"

"Sure am!" chirped the tiny redhead as she set aside the heavy rucksack with its bulging pouches and the huge warfan shed brought as well. "Uchiha Miroru. At your servvvvvvvvvvvuhhhhhh..."

Miroru turned around and found herself staring facefirst at the sorta chest that would make any girl her age jealous, much less one with her unenviable curve situation going on. Miroru was twiggy- athletic with very little padding, and she just blinked for a couple seconds before looking up at Raika properly.

"Hi, there! Thanks for coming all the way out here, I know you probably had some important stuff to get up to. I'll make sure I don't waste your time," Miroru said, looking around behind the towering woman expectantly.

"... only, uh. Where'd your daughter get off to?" Miroru asked, blinking in clear confusion. This lady was jacked, seemed confident, and while surely a Hyuga, gave off none of the airs she was expecting from the similarly-aged girl she was expecting! Which meant this, of course, had to be her mother!

Right???

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

Raika can feel her own opinion of the aunt that had recommended this training to her sinking rapidly when this very short and quite young kunoichi states that she is, in fact, the Murori Uchiha that she was supposed to be training with and learning from. She doesn't say anything out loud just yet, because the sight of that large rucksack was making her curious about what training the much younger girl had planned. She doesn't even notice that her body is a bit of a distraction for the Uchiha; why would Raika think that's the case in the first place.

Then Raika notices her apparent teacher looking all around, and after a moment of confusion and wondering if she was now going to have other genin joining her for the training when the pipsqueak asks her where her "daughter" had run off to. Feeling somewhat slighted, her eyes go much wider, her eyebrows heavily furrowed, and her arms crossed in front of her, though her muscles flex, as though she's imagining throttling the Uchiha, even though that was the furthest- no, okay, she was absolutely thinking about strangling the shorter girl. But she's at least able to restrain herself from doing so. At the very least, she's able to count to ten and let out a long, slow breath to calm herself, although one might expected a huff of smoke to escape her mouth.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Raika Hyuga, the current unrevoked heiress of the esteemed Hyuga clan. And now... your trainee."

It felt so odd to say such a thing to a girl so young. She thought it likely that the girl had been born around the same time she had graduated from the Academy...

If I hadn't spent years in that podunk backwards cannibal-infested swamp...

Completely oblivious to the backroom politics that saw Raika shunted into a deliberately demeaning meeting with the much younger Chuunin, Miroru just blinked up at her as she widened her eyes, narrowed her brows, and crossed her arms. Miroru's head canted wolfishly to the side as Raika introduced herself, and then-

"Oh! That's YOU? But you look so confident and put together," Miroru said, clearly surprised to find out this was her student. Still, she didn't seem daunted, and popped her hands onto her hips. "Well! That's okay. My big sis Azarea-chan is your age, and she was one of the top placed in the exams. Think there were a couple people even older, so it must not matter much!"

The redhead looked her over for a long moment, taking in the impressive physique and the lack of weaponry besides throwing kit, and asked, "So are you a Bukijutsu specialist that uses kunai and shuriken, or are you a Taijutsu specialist? You could be a jutsu specialist instead, buuuuuut the build suggests strong reliance on your body to do a lot of the work for you, which- I can attest- is a solid investment. Are you looking for help in deepening the skills you already have or broadening your horizons to include new things you haven't incorporated yet?" Her tone didn't shift much, but the content of her conversation carried a lot more weight now that they were on a topic heavy enough for her understanding of the nuances of shinobi combat to shine through. "What can I help ya practice?"

Raika's pride is instantly soothed when Miroru describes her as confident and put together, and especially when she describes her own "big sis" as also being one of the top performers in the Chuunin Exams, and so she lets the previous remark about looking for her "daughter" as a student is laid to rest. The older Hyuga visibly relaxes a little, although she does seem a little self-conscious when this Miroru girl is looking her over. Thankfully, the next few statements show that the ogling was not, in fact, done for any kind of gratification, but had an actual necessary element of calculation about what kind of combat she was best suited for. Not that most needed a lot of looking to determine that she was particularly physically fit, but it was good to see that this Miroru girl took that observation a step further by looking over her gear to determine that if she were more skilled with weaponry than with Taijutsu, that it would have had to be with shurikenjutsu. Raika allows the Uchiha to go on with her observation along with her probing questions, not looking to interrupt her before the older kunoichi would speak again.

"Like most of the Hyuga, I'm particularly excellent in Taijutsu, although I'm slightly less singularly focused on the more... let's say 'delicate' aspects of their fighting style. I am, in fact, not a specialist in ninjutsu, although I've done some personal training in medical techniques..."

Raika is surprisingly adaptable for the conversation, even treating Miroru with an oddly greater level of respect than she would have shown most of the other Hyuga she'd grown up with; at least Miroru had succeeded in the Chuunin Exams at a young age and, other than the unintentional reminder of her age, had not made any of the myriad of remarks she often received from the other Hyuga... whom she suspected of setting up this training as another of many slights against her. To that end, she'd use this training to actually improve herself to a level exceeding her current capabilities, turning another insult meant to demoralize her into even greater power. She was somewhat good at doing that, and getting more skilled at doing so in recent months.

"As for what you can help me practice, I've heard that Konoha has its own especially physically damaging Taijutsu techniques, and I'd certainly love to learn some more about such techniques myself... You wouldn't happen to...?"

"Don't have to tell ME twice. I've seen those crazy palms in action, and had to face down Shigure-sensei's Lion Fists. I'll tell you, you want to feel the fear of Kami, watch your teacher's fists EAT YOUR CHAKRA while he closes in for the kill!" Miroru's voice was full of pride and admiration as she described what she'd seen- though, depending on what Raika understood of things, unleashing the Lion Fists on what must have been a then-Genin sure sounded like overkill of the highest magnitude.

"Ooh... I tried to learn medical jutsu, but I've got too much chakra. It was like trying to waterpaint with a broom brush tied to a garden hose. But it's okay! I learned lots of great stuff to do with my chakra." Miroru's hands blurred for an instant, and a brick of chakra appeared mid-air for her to hop back onto and sit on.

"Sooooo," Miroru admitted as Raika explained her specific interests. "-I don't know any of the Leaf Whirlwind techniques." She rubbed at her chin as she considered. "IN the Leaf, and around more veteran Shinobi, you'd have an edge by not being so predictable as to lean fully on your clan techniques. While there's definitely some real hammers in Konoha's arsenal, I'm wondering if that's the route to take." She rubbed her chin a little, legs swaying as she kicked them idly back and forth as they spoke. "It'd be predictable for a Konoha Taijutu specialist to use our custom techniques... so let's start building the foundation for you to be a little less predictable."

Clapping her hands, the brick of chakra vanished as Miroru hopped up and held up a finger. "First rule of the Konoha Brawler- you can't get hits in if you're too busy getting hit. What kind of defensive techniques do you know already, Raika-san?"

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

Raika's eyes grow wide when Miroru describes the power of the Twin Lion Fists, to watch this Shigure person's fists eat your chakra while trying to kill you with their bare palms. It sure sounds like something she's going to want to learn... although that might have to wait, since this was in relation to the Hyuga clan, and despite being an heiress in said clan, their relationship was seemingly strained at the moment. It's only a few moments later that she has to look at Miroru out of the corner of her eye and blink twice in surprise; one wouldn't expect a traumatic experience like that to have a positive impact on a genin, at least not in the way she described it, but perhaps that was just how she was able to deal with it. In any case, it sounds like perhaps her plan to train a bit with medical jutsu will have to be a more singular plan for her, since Miroru was incapable of controlling her chakra to that extent, from the sound of it.

"Ah. Well, medical ninjutsu is rather specialized and highly reliant on fine chakra control, so it makes sense that you might not be so involved with such a discipline..."

Further sadness for Raika was on the way: the Uchiha also hadn't learned the Leaf Village's signature taijutsu style, it seems. This was also fine with Raika, as she was certain she'd be able to train some of those techniques as well, and with the Hung Gar rings she was currently wearing on her wrists, she might be able to train herself in that style as well, though this made it feel as though they were running down the list of things she might already be interested in learning. However, the idea that she might need to learn some defensive techniques almost made Raika laugh; what good is defense? Striking an opponent is going to win the fight after all, and defense just causes a delay in you landing your own blows! Then, with a little thought, Raika realizes that perhaps getting struck will also mean that she'd lose the fight before she gets to land her own hits. Perhaps defensive techniques would be good to learn, too...

"The best defense is an unrelenting offense, I always thought..."

Of course, being fair to the older Hyuga, she'd spent quite a few years living in the small village of Kawa, where every day required you to fight to just survive, and what mattered more in that swamp was hitting.

"Okay, 'sensei', what did you have in mind?"

"It is, all of that and more. I'm good at controlling what I've got," Miroru said, flashing another pair of blindingly fast hand seals and creating a single, intensely crackling senbon of pure Raiton. "-problem is, even when I get a small form made-" She tossed the needle at a nearby stone.

The rock DETONATED on impact, completely obliterated by the relatively small sliver of compacted chakra. "-it's just too dense to do what it's supposed to. But that's okay!" Miroru chirped brightly.

"The best defense is being alive long enough to MOUNT that unrelenting offense. It's like playing Janken." She held up a fist. "A strong defense-" She opened her hand. "Will lose to a brutal offense-" She switched to scissors. "-will lose to a defense paired with a proper offense. It's knowing which to deploy against your opponent, and when, that usually determines the victor."

Miroru shook her head, the fox-red fluff flouncing as she did. . "Nono. You deserve the chance to test your theory. You've invested in a powerful offense, right?" Miroru flashed another brief hand-seal, and a gleam of chakra flashed over her- a barrier of some sort, skin-tight and quite dense, enhanced by her equipment.

"Why don't we test your offensive skills against my defensive tricks?" Miroru asked as she adopted a fighting stance, balanced and light. "Let's see if your aggression can overcome a lack of defensive techniques!"

Raika blinks as she watches the shorter girl produce what looks like a simple senbon made of Raiton chakra, and her curiosity makes her activate her Byakugan; the resulting sight of the small girl with such a tiny body practically flush with chakra was almost overwhelming, and certainly a huge surprise. The Hyuga apparently has no filter for her facial expressions, because Miroru is likely to see her very wide eyes and raised eyebrows of surprise even before she tosses the Raiton-chakra flooded senbon at the stone, causing the entire thing to explode. Granted, that also makes Raika jump, but she's still in a little bit of shock about how much chakra is coursing through the other ninja's body. She leaves her Byakugan activated, which is highly visible from the fact that her lavender-colored eyes are much more white in appearance than how purple they were previously, not to mention the fact that the temples next to her eyes were now particularly veiny from the amount of blood required to be pumping to her eyes to be able to work overtime and produce this kind of supreme eyesight.

She listens intently as the young Chuunin explains the philosophy of combat that she'd picked up on, likening it to the game of Janken; the strong defense is overwhelmed by the brutal offense, which still loses to the defense paired with a proper offense. Raika considers for a moment the idea of correcting her that this also means that her duality loses out to a strong defense, but decides that she's the student at this point, so it would be a very bad idea to point this out just now. The philosophy that knowing when to deploy these methods determines the victor is certainly an interesting one, but she feels it does somewhat fall in line with her understanding of the Hyuga's taijutsu, which really is a combination of offensive and defensive techniques. Then Miroru insists that she have a chance to test her theory, which sets off alarm bells in her head, especially considering this younger ninja had already beaten the Chuunin Exams with perfect marks, and Raika hasn't even had a chance to attempt the exam. Still, she takes a deep breath, and then decides to think of what her initial strike should be while watching Miroru perform handseals, with the speed of those finger movements making them hard to follow, even for her. The Sharingan likely could have kept up with those slick speeds, but the Byakugan was better suited for observation, so she can still see the chakra completely cover the entirety of the Uchiha's body.

"Ah. Well. If you insist..."

Raika starts off going down into the wide, low stance of the Eight Trigrams style, since she already has her Byakugan active, but her immediate first move is likely surprising for anyone that's seen a Hyuga fight; instead of actually engaging in one of the rapid, chakra-injecting strikes of Jyuken, the genin actually starts off her assault with a twist of her body, swinging her combat-boot-clad foot around from behind her to swipe at the younger girl's ankles, then keeps her momentum going to twist her upwards, corkscrewing into a follow-up swing of her leg at Miroru's midsection, and then lifting her up to a third strike at about eye level, and then finishing with a heel drop aimed directly at the girl's shoulder. This wasn't an Eight Trigrams technique at all, but was in fact the one Leaf Taijutsu technique that Raika had actually managed to learn: Konoha Daisenpu, the Leaf Great Whirlwind!

Raika was INTO it on the spot, hurling a series of powerful strikes Miroru's way! Low, mid, high, vert! Four strikes in rapid succession, which would be powerfully difficult for anybody to respond to over such a short time period! This, though, was when a few factors came into play that Raika might not have counted on.

She wasn't the first Hyuuga Miroru had faced down, and she knew the vulnerabilities imposed on the redhead when Raika's eyes went white. She wouldn't be able to catch her entirely off guard with chakra of any notable density, after all. The sudden rush to specific locations gave her a huge heads up on what might be coming next. This, though, was a known factor, and part of the reason Miroru had surrounded herself by active chakra- combined with the intense presence of chakra in her form, it made the subtle and minute flow of chakra into her body as a whole far more difficult to notice, much less interpret.

As the low kick swept through where Miroru's ankles had just been, she jerked them up, compromising her balance and posture by all appearances in order to avoid a single attack. With the second blow going higher, though, she flattened her form as she fell to the ground on all fours, which SHOULD have been a compromised position mobility-wise- but when the third kick swept towards her crown, she swerved against the ground, ducking beneath it like a fox beneath a swiping paw, and she hurled herself easily to the side as the axe kick slammed into the earth where she'd just been an instant prior, skidding on her hands and feet with all the agility and confidence most would only have on two legs!

In the replay, Raika would likely catch the chakra enhancing her movements- and another flash feeding chakra to her eyes, confirmed when she caught sight of the night-gleam and narrowed pupils that were telltale signs Miroru was using her own techniques to enhance her eyesight. A poor imitation of the Byakugan and Sharingan, but enough- compared with her impressive reflexes- to evade her solid offensive combo with extremely little chakra expenditure!

"Good, GOOD!" Miroru called out, popping halfway upright again, still maintaining that faintly bestial posture, ready to drop again if she needed the mobility. "But you should prod your opponent's defenses to test them first! A combination attack like that is much less effective if the first blow doesn't hit for the others to build off of! What could you do to test the extent of my defenses BEFORE committing to such a lengthy assault?"

Chuunin generalist vs genin tai primary, both are working on similar base statistics- Miroru has SAs boosting her reflexes and visual acuity, paired with Subakage-ryū: Hohō [New Shadow Style: Step Method] which boosts her speed and is specifically excellent for avoiding chained attacks!

Raika is a little dizzy coming off of the Konoha Daisenpu, but you wouldn't think so from looking at the way she returns to her feet in a ready position. It helps that she's remaining still and simply listening to Miroru's explanation of what she did wrong. Thankfully, Raika had been capable of keeping track of the younger ninja's movements using her Byakugan, but the fact that she'd been capable of dodging all of it had been more than a little bit disheartening at first. Of course, it only took a quick reminder that, although she was younger, she had also gone through the Chuunin Exams apparently without a scratch; even with Raika's extra years of training in such a harsh environment as the village of Kawa couldn't prepare her for such a feat. The redhead has asked her a question, though, so Raika needs to quickly come up with an idea and then actually respond with it. She thinks through the other techniques she has, and considers at least one of them to have been a better way to start off the probe of her defenses, and should it connect, would be a fairly strong lay-up for a far greater series of attacks, such as her Eight Trigrams techniques.

"A single strike directly to center mass would have given me a lot more information about how well you can dodge, block, or deflect my attacks with a lot less investment... Even better to use a Taijutsu technique infused with chakra..."

Raika wasn't sure how much information Miroru had about the Hyuga and their clan-specific Taijutsu, but just in case it would actually get her in a lot of trouble, like being labelled as a traitor of the village itself, she wouldn't expose all of the secrets of Jyuken to this younger woman unless she absolutely had to. Although, with that said, a single strike wasn't nearly so flashy or cool as a hard, wild combination attack to start off with. Despite not using up so much chakra, Miroru had had to move herself around a lot in order to avoid getting hit with even one of those dangerous kicks, and although the Hyuga had expended a bit more chakra, she hadn't needed to move her entire body quite so much, having relied mostly on her momentum to keep her kicks moving at such a rapid pace. Mentally at least, Raika considered that she might have been able to tire out a genin with a continued onslaught, but against a Chuunin, especially one with what felt like enough chakra for two or even three people, she'd run out of chakra long before Miroru would even build up a sweat.

I've never even heard of someone with this much chakra before. This is insane!

Of course, the barrier Miroru wore over her entire body had made the enhancement of her own body's movements via chakra much harder to track down, but she had seen just the barest sliver of the way the Chuunin's chakra had flowed throughout her body to various points, even her eyes in order to improve her eyesight. That one was particularly odd... Wasn't she an Uchiha? But perhaps the smaller amount of chakra focused to her eyes was less chakra intensive than fully activating the Sharingan for a simple training exercise. Now that she thought of it, perhaps Raika should also remove the Hung Gar rings from her wrists... No, she'd have them on during real combat, so it really is best to just leave them on, even during training. She'd just have to remember to hold back on her strikes to ensure that she wouldn't hurt her fellow villagers. Again. The memory of Kai Uchiha made her visibly wince, but she recovers quickly.

"Okay, so you want me to use much more defensible single strikes at first, instead of going directly into an all-out assault that just tires me out and leaves me open... Yeah, that makes sense, I guess."

"That sounds like a great idea!" Miroru encouraged. "The more info you have about your opponent before you commit to more punishable, protracted movements, the better. Like I said before, it's a lot like Janken. If all you have in your pocket is offenses, you won't get the chance to find out exactly what style your opponent is relying on first- you're committing yourself to exposing yourself as a Scissors- as an unrelenting offense, right out the gate. If you're against a mixed opponent- paper, in this analogy- that works great, but if you're against another full offense or full defense opponent, you've lost the chance to analyze their style before committing to one yourself."

The redhead straightened and rubbed her chin a little. "Like you saw, in otherwise equal opponents, someone committed to defense can stave off and often outlast an aggressive opponent. You've got to fill your attacks with both physical exertion and chakra to try to maximize damage IF you hit, and all the defender has to do is not get hit in the first place, which can often be less taxing chakra wise. So, launching a simple initial strike to probe their defenses that leaves you open to fall back to full defense if needed gives you the best chance to exploit a reckless opponent without abandoning your own defense against that exact punishment."

Miroru tilted her head to the side again. "What do you think? Ready to start picking up some defensive techniques? I know a bunch- short-range evasions, Taijutsu counter-throws to create distance and openings-" She paused and squinted faintly.

"You know how to use Shunshin, at least... right?"

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

The theory of the whole thing almost loses her interest; Raika generally likes combat or training more than she likes combat, but this is talking about combat, and it's helping her to become a better fighter, so there's no way she can afford to tune out all this philosophical focus. And besides, having to learn this kind of thing from a much younger fighter is almost embarrassing, and if someone so young can figure this out, then it's at least likely that other, older genin are aware of these concepts of offense and defense, and she might actually be behind as far as the theory goes. She's going to need to train a lot more than she'd thought, and she's going to have to learn to switch between these different approaches to combat, probably on the fly, in order to become a truly effective fighter and not just a hard-and-fast brawler that takes on anything and everything in front of her. At least Raika is starting to realize that simply slamming herself into a brick wall won't let her break through the brick wall, and will probably just result in her getting a bruised shoulder.

Raika then refocuses on the conversation when Miroru asks if she's ready to pick up on some defensive techniques, and she grunts out an affirmative. Before she can move into a ready position to start learning some of these defensive techniques from her new temporary sensei, she notices the younger girl squinting at her a bit, the pause after her last question about the Body Flicker technique staying in the air just long enough to become a little bit awkward before Raika actually verbalizes her apparent confusion.

"The hell is a Shunshin?"

It would likely become apparent to Miroru immediately after this question is asked that Raika had only really had much practice in Taijutsu, and had only the basic understanding of ninjutsu from the Academy; as far as chakra-based attacks were concerned, if it wasn't coming from her fist or directly from her tenketsu points to be used with her clan's taijutsu, she wasn't very aware of it. The closest she'd ever gotten to something like that had likely been learning that she could add her own natural elemental nature of Raiton to the Dynamic Entry technique to hit a ne'er-do-well with an even more shocking (heh) strike that would likely leave them too incapacitated to do much retaliation against her. That was really all the ninjutsu she'd needed up to that point, and the Academy ninjutsu hadn't been particularly useful for her back in the sticks of Kawa Village, anyway.

It's the opposite for Miroru, clearly. For the pipsqueak styled Tricky Mikki, turning combat into a puzzle with opponents to be out-foxed was exactly the sort of perspective she delighted in. However, the response from her at least erstwhile student left Miroru looking VERY concerned.

"You don't- okay, yikes. We're gonna start there," muttered the redhead decisively before clearing her throat. "The Shunshin is an absolutely vital Ninjutsu technique that violently amplifies your ability to move for an extremely short period of time. It's not so refined as something like the Wind Step or Thunder Step, which can be used over at least a short period of time while maintaining coordination- Shunshin requires a single handseal be held for the entire duration, meaning it can't be combined with offensive techniques, though it CAN be FOLLOWED by them. But I don't recommend it."

Miroru executed a blindingly fast handseal, and a copy of herself appeared. To the view of the Byakugan, the clone had a respectable amount of chakra even after the split. "Shunshin can be executed on a split second's notice, as long as your hands are free to exercise the jutsu," She explained, utilizing another couple quick hand seals to generate another weapon out of Raiton, this time a solid plane of the stuff shaped like a straight-bladed sword. She took a stance with it facing her other self, who was still talking. "It doesn't require any Taijutsu aptitude or training, so it's the most common defensive technique you'll see among other Shinobi. All you have to do is recognize an incoming attack-"

The Miroru with the weapon, several paces away, thrust her "blade" forwards- and sent it rocketing forwards, extending straight out towards the other copy of herself. At the last second, her other self flashed just one hand-seal- and reappeared a good dozen yards away! To Raika's eyes, it looked like she sort of stretched, crossing the distance in a single heartbeat, streaking into place before her chakra after-echoes slammed into place at the new location while the spear of Raiton shot through her previous location before retracting to the size of a kunai as that Miroru straightened again.

"When it comes to Taijutsu and Bukijutsu techniques- and some Doton techniques- you can usually choose between blocking, tanking, or dodging attacks. Nijutsu attacks will largely demand you either dodge them or suffer their full effects, which can often be devastating in ways that pure physical trauma doesn't compare to. For instance, even glancing blows with most of my Raiton techniques will leave my targets paralyzed for a moment or two. Shunshin is a "get out of jail free" card you can play a few times a day. It's exhausting- most people can only manage three, though some shinobi can hit four before getting too strained to try again. I HIGHLY recommend we train it, right now. I'm not exaggerating when I say it can and likely will save limbs, if not lives."
