The young Kyobona, or Miyamoto, depending on how you looked at it had to adjust to living in Sora's house. Mainly because she tended to do all of the things that could be considered tedious chores. Or if not her, then her Kage Bunshin. Cooking. Laundry. Cleaning. Tending to the basic things. It was the least she could do if she was going to live here, even though she tried to move back out with her meager belongings. Sora didn't let her. Sora said that it was because she cared. Though another part of Ikana wondered if it was for a different reason too. After all, she began to believe every wall had an ear, and every floorboard had eyes beneath them.

How could she really tell Sora she wondered? That for a while. Ever since they met, she'd been holding out on her. When she adorned the flak jacket, when she wore her vest and other pieces of armor, she'd aken the liberty to get comfortable with this new position. Chuunin. Again. Her original life goal. Before she head out, head out to train and spar with Sora today. Much to Ikana's insistence. Headed out to the far, far wilderness. Nearby a cove. Not because it was one of her hidden and secret hiding places to train or anything, but because it was a place she didn't mind being found or spotted. The crashing of waves against the reefs. The sound of waves drowning any words.

"I'd like to show you. How much I've grown." Ikana states, slowly unwrapping a headwrap from her forehead, instead replacing it with her forehead protector. "Not by much. But enough to pose you more of a challenge."

Ikana had adjusted to living with her in a strange way. Sora had insisted the girl not be left alone, at least for the time being, and her former student had accepted that with very little in the way of complaint. She had even taken to doing chores around the house (not that she had to, of course), and seemed to be fitting in well enough. And yet… she could feel it. See it in her movements. There was a distinct wariness. A level of tension in her frame that never went away, never faded, never left. As if she expected a Hunter-nin around every corner, watching. Waiting.

So when the girl asked the Jounin to accompany her out into the wilderness for an extended training session, insisted on it, Sora had agreed. Because for all Ikana had grown in their short time as student and teacher, there was much she could still learn- and not just as a Shinobi, but as a person.

"I thought that might be why you asked me to come." Sora said, smiling as she looked down at Ikana. The girl had grown recently, gaining a few inches and some bulk, though not enough to be considered strong, physically speaking. She was lean though, and quick on her feet, with a good mind for fighting, so long as she didn’t get too wrapped up in the moment. Her teamwork still needed work but… well. She was learning. Slowly.

"Whenever you’re ready." She said, shifting into a loose Iaido stance- one she hadn’t shown Ikana or Team One before, though they likely knew she could use something along the same line. She was an Ittoryu grandmaster, after all, and a large portion of the style’s techniques revolved around the Iai- not all, of course, but enough for it to be considered a feature of the style.

Sora was one of those types of people that it seemed rather fruitless to use most long range forms of attack against. She had ways to repel most basic forms of ninja tools, and she was dangerous from a long and close range. Especially close range. In order to defeat someone like Sora, one needed cunning, precision, and an adaptivity to battle. Sora smiled. Ikana didn't. Instead, she retained a neutral expression on her face as she looked behind Sora. Some might say that if there was nothing to fear, there was nothing to hide. However, Ikana came to find herself wary of everyone. Everything.

She momentarily paused. Looked towards the sea. Taking a deep breath, she reaches for her head and yanks out three or four strands of hair. Feeling the wind, and watching as they blew. It might seem like a pointless gesture. "I thought about what you said. About swords." Ikana proclaimed, before slowly taking forth her old Wakizashi. The one Sora had broken the last time they seriously sparred. Before slowly stabbing it into the stone. Along a cracked jut so that it'd stand tall. It's blue tassle tuft of string blowing in the wind. Ikana ties her headwrap along the handle.

"I realized...That I'm stronger than I thought I was. I just wanted someone to see that." She proceeded to turn back towards the cliffside. And she let herself tip and fall backwards over the edge. From Sora's distance, she'd likely not be able to stop her from falling towards the sea. Towards the sharp jutting rocks. The wind pressed and was heavy against her body as she began to make her descent. Did Ikana call Sora here to watch her commit suicide?

Sora had exactly half a second to react to what Ikana was doing. Her eyes darted to the blade, her ears heard the words, but her mind didn’t quite catch their meaning, not until the girl leaned back on the edge of the cliff and tipped over. The world seemed to shift into slow motion then, everything clicking into place as Ikana fell- and she moved. Samidare fell from her hand, Fuuton chakra bursting through her feet, shooting her forwards faster than the girl had ever seen before… not that she would be able to see it, even with her improved skill.

Indeed, the Jounin had crossed the space between them before Ikana had even made it all the way horizontal, chakra pulsing through her legs as she grabbed the girl by the scruff of her shirt and slammed her feet down, utilizing the Gensoku Soru technique to stop their momentum, the stone beneath them spider-webbing with cracks at the force needed. For a moment, the two of them hung there, suspended in the moment- and then Sora pulled, stepping back from the edge as she all but threw Ikana to safety, panting.

"Ikana…" Sora said, breathing heavily from the sheer rush of adrenaline and panic that still hammered through her chest. "What the actual fuck was that?”

Never before had Ikana ever seen an Elite Jounin's true full speed. Honestly, she was incredibly surprised. When she leaned back, prepared to fall backwards? She suddenly found herself grasped by the shirt. The recoil was surprising, and Sora slapped her feet down. As they stood together, there was a moment where Ikana looked forwards. In that next moment. As they rest together, face to face in that moment, looking each other over? The young brunette called out then. "I'm amazed." She declares when thrown back inward towards land, before she proceeds to call out. "I suppose it's a change of plans."

A single handseal is formed. The snake. Before the scabbard of that broken Wakizashi begins to smoke. The headwrap wrapped around it glowing a crimson heat before it explodes violently. The already cracked stone of the cliffpoint shatters, and with it, the entire face begins to collapse. To fall off the cliff. With both Sora and Ikana with it. They'd begin to make their descent and fall to the rough and foamy sea below them. As well as the sharp rocks. Ikana planned on using deception from the start. Because she realized that there was a smarter and more cunning way to battle. And that it was the only way to truly face off against a monster like Sora.

As the cliff shatters into multiple chunks of rock, Ikana and Sora both making their fall, the young girl sought to do something incredibly important. Remove any stable footing. Ikana forms a singular handseal, and with it, her hair elongates and spikes, forming multiple tendrils. Several of them wrapping around herself, as multiple tendrils fling out and dig into the side of the cliffside's walls. Ripping into and leveraging her into its surface as Sora fell. Ranjishigami no Jutsu. As soon as she's properly dug into the side, she sticks to the side with the tree walking exercise. If she were fortunate? Sora would fall deep into the waters, where the pounding waves would crash down along them. Or at the very least, she'd force the woman to ascend upwards towards her.

Where she held the high ground.

The headwrap she wore, and the scabbard of that Wakizashi. They both held the explosive seal formula, Sora would realize. That Ikana had been working on that strategy all along, trying to use those feelings of concern in this battle.

NAME: Ranjishigami no Jutsu - [Wild Lion's Mane Technique]

RANK: B

CHAKRA USAGE: Medium

CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu [General]

ELEMENT: None

HANDSEALS: 1

DESCRIPTION:

Chakra poured into the user's hair will extend violently, reaching out like many dense tendrils of fibers. The hair, becoming hard and tough like steel, aims to ensnare and bind targets within thirty meters, their sharpened tips boring into their bodies as it seemingly stitches them while knotting around them. This works well to halt the movements of even massive beasts, not to mention halt several dozen shinboi at once. These tendrils are capable of shaping their ends into what appears to be a lion's mouth, filled with a maw filled with razor sharp iron-rending teeth. Hungry for blood, the beastly endings to these binding tendrils work to finish off whatever prey the user may have caught. With the amount of hair created on average, shinobi are typically able toe create up to twelve individual massed tendrils of hair.

Sora Minami Avatar

In the single second it took Sora’s mind to process the literal insanity that Ikana was talking, the girl formed a single, familiar hand seal. Too late, the Jounin let go of Ikana’s scarf, instinct forcing her arms up as the explosive tag went off- and sent the pair of them tumbling down to the water below, the cliff face crumbling from the sheer force of the explosion. Ikana’s hair expanded as they fell, and without thinking Sora moved, kicking off her student’s chest to land on the cliffside, chakra pulsing through her feet as she stuck to the stone, panting.

Ikana floated below her, hanging onto the rocks with her hair jutsu, and for a moment Sora wanted to hit the girl, her anger at being used, at being manipulated like that almost overwhelming her sense. Almost.

"Clever, Ikana." She said after a moment, shaking the rocks from her hair as she spoke, looking her student in the eyes, chakra pulsing as she borrowed a trick from Kuni’s book and cast a single, sealless Genjutsu over the Chuunin. Shibari was a nasty little thing, making the target feel as if they were utterly bound from head to toe and smothering their sense of touch to the point they couldn’t properly function. The girl would be able to break out of it, given a moment, but that was the point. She didn’t need it to win the fight, she just needed it to buy a single second.

Chakra pulsed through Sora’s feet as she used the wind step again, leaping back up to the top of the cliff faster than the girl would be able to react, now that she had a Genjutsu to deal with. Because in that single second, the Jounin would retrieve her sword… and turn, ready to teach Ikana that somethings simply weren't done.

Jutsu/SA's/Equipment Used
Jutsu: NAME: Genjutsu Binding [Genjutsu Shibari]
RANK: B
CHAKRA USAGE: Medium (Low Drain to maintain)
CLASSIFICATION: Genjutsu
TRIGGER: the user glares at the enemy, and if the enemy is looking at the user's eyes they're bound by this genjutsu
DESCRIPTION: As the name suggests, the user binds the opponent in a genjutsu, rendering them incapable of movement; and this genjutsu can be used on more than one target at the same time. Unlike other genjutsu that use illusory objects to stop movements, this genjutsu simply affects the target's sense of touch to make it feel as if every inch of their body surrounded by hardened cement, effectively paralyzing the target. Once the target(s) are bound, the user or an ally can rush up to the enemy and deliver a devastating killing blow.

NAME: Kazesanpo [Wind walk]
RANK: B
CHAKRA USAGE: Low
CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu
ELEMENT: Wind
DESCRIPTION: The blade is only as deadly as its reach, so maneuvering around the battlefield is important to a swordsman, in order to get close to the target, or avoid attacks. By channeling wind chakra into their feet, the user is able to swiftly run, so quickly that to the naked eye it seems like a blur.

Special Abilities:
The Kunoichi That Goes On And On And On… [Endurance SA]
Perhaps part of her genetics or simply a random quirk of fate, Sora is unnaturally resilient, be it to physical pain or the toils of extended combat. While most Shinobi would collapse in exhaustion at having used all but the smallest sliver of their chakra reserves, she pushes on; while most Shinobi would wilt beneath the weight of sleepless night after sleepless night, she keeps going. This does not mean she does not feel pain/the strain of extended combat, but rather that her threshold for shutting down because of it is far higher than others. To give an example, if she were to be stabbed through her abdomen, she would still feel the pain of the injury, and it would hinder her ability to move/act, but it wouldn’t stop her, whereas a normal ninja might freeze up or shut down from the pain.

Bet You Didn’t See That Coming [Speed SA]
A byproduct of her enhanced endurance, Sora (despite what many would think) dislikes being injured- and with that dislike comes the intense desire to avoid getting hurt, a desire that has pushed her to hone her body until it could move faster than most others of her rank. In short, Sora is fast- very, very fast.

POWAH! UNLIMITED POWAH!! [Chakra Reserves SA]
After a lifetime of utilizing nearly every ounce of chakra in her body just to survive, Sora’s chakra reserves have expanded a considerable amount to compensate- while she’s no Jinchuuriki, her ability to toss out jutsu after jutsu and still have enough chakra to keep going is quite remarkable, a testament to just how much of the stuff she actually has.

I Am Not Left-Handed [Kenjutsu Mastery SA]
Sora is not merely a Kenjutsu specialist- she is a master when it comes to the art of the sword; after over two decades of training, her skills are unrivaled within Kirigakure, falling short only to the Seven Swordsman themselves… some of them, anyway. This mastery allows her a distinct advantage when fighting other Bukijutsu specialists of similar or lesser rank.

If You Try For Speed, You Do Not Achieve Speed [Bukijutsu Speed SA]
Beyond being a master of Kenjutsu, Sora has practiced for decades to become the faster swordswoman she can be. As such, her Kenjutsu techniques come out faster and move quicker than those performed by others of her rank.

Equipment: Samidare | Spring Rain Blade (Drawn)
SA’s
Unbreakable
Whatever metal and forging process was used in the creation of Samidare, it worked; Samidare is utterly unbreakable by most any means, capable of being engulfed in an S-Rank Jutsu and remaining unscathed. Though it is possible that the blade could potentially be broken by a sufficiently powerful attack (such as, say, a Bijuu-dama), this has never been tested, so it is not known if it would survive.

Sharper Than Your Average Blade
Due to its nature as an unbreakable blade, Samidare bears a cutting edge that is of particular note, which allows it to slice through even steel with little in the way of resistance, so long as the proper force is applied. Additionally, this edge never needs to be resharpened, as it never grows dull or rolls, thus making it perfect for frontline combat.

Light as Spring Rain
Perhaps a quirk of its forging (or perhaps an intentional feature), Samidare is considerably lighter than a blade its size and length ought to be; while this would normally result in a less effective weapon, Samidare loses none of its integrity or cutting power, as it is somehow able to leverage the same amount of force through less mass. This lightness allows the user to swing the weapon about with much greater speed for the same amount of physical exertion.

Chakra Conduction
Being Chakra Conductive, Samidare is capable of channeling all types of Chakra for use in Bukijustu, and, more particularly, it has a slight affinity for Raiton chakra thanks to Sora’s constant use of the blade for that purpose. This affinity does not do anything of real note, but it does feel as if the blade were more eager to drink in Raiton Chakra than other types.

As she was kicked, it was convenient that the hair was pliable in the sense that as she was pressed against the cliffside, it didn't feel like her chest was being caved in. Though she did visibly wince and recoil as she braced her arms to absorb as much of that kick force as possible as she held her handseal. It wasn't the ideal situation. Namely because Sora still maintained the advantage of the high ground. She looked upwards. And in that next moment? She could feel it. All of a sudden, she felt like she couldn't move.

While Ikana felt like she couldn't move? Through the paralysis of that glare, she knew she was still able to. She'd been through worse killing intents before. Genjutsu? From someone like Sora? It seemed almost out of character. She always presumed her to be more of the rough and tumble physical type. A chakra monster if not that considering she launched more than a fair share of high level techniques from time to time. "...Calm down." She said to herself. Whilst maintaining her handseal, she would find herself manipulating her tendrils of hair to form mouth like shapes, as they dig further into the cliffside, and crunch down. And with it? Whenever Sora was to face her? She would find a hailstorm of stones thrown her direction, seeking to pepper the swordswoman.

As Ikana allowed herself to fall further from the cliffside, and instead would instead seek to use her hair as extensions to grasp onto the sharp rocks down below, using them as standing grounds as she rests her body along one. Two firmly wrapping around and planting Ikana upon the tip as ten more tendrils rest around her. She took deep breaths, and realized this was indeed an unfavorable position. However, she'd work with what she had. Unable to move or not, she'd just have to fight through it.

Sora moved with steady, purposed strides, walking over the cliff to face her student, feet pulsing with chakra so she stuck to the stone. Ikana had been busy in the handful of seconds, hunkering down into the stone, clearly looking to fight a defensive war rather than meet her head on. It was the right call- despite her recent growth, there was simply no way for the girl to match blows with a Jounin, particularly one such as herself whose sole focus had been on honing the art of the sword to a razor’s edge. It wouldn’t be enough, though.

"Ittoryu: Tastumaki." The pink-haired Jounin said when Ikana threw her stones, voice flat and calm as she swung her blade in a blurring arc, Fuuton chakra pulsing from its length in an explosion of wind. The burst knocked the majority of the stones off course, many of them even falling back down towards Ikana, but a few of the larger ones got through, albeit slowed. These she dealt with easily enough, Samidare cleaving through the rock as if it were rice paper, each movement precise and focused, no effort wasted, not a single strand of hair out of place.

The older Kunoichi paused once the rocks were done, staring down at Ikana with cold blue eyes, her displeasure at being manipulated clear on her face as she sheathed her blade, twisting to one side in an obvious telegraph, her hands weaving one, two, three seals as she pulsed Raiton chakra through her blade, building the pressure inside the sheath, holding it tight until, in a flash of movement that Ikana likely wouldn’t even see, she drew, twisting the blade to the side as she unleashed her cut- not at the girl’s head, but at the limbs of hair holding up her left side. Because even if she was pissed, she wasn’t trying to kill the girl. Just… teach her a lesson.

"Ittoryu Iai: Shishi Sonson!"

Jutsu/SA's/Equipment Used
Jutsu:
NAME: Kinobori no Waza [Act of Tree Climbing]
RANK: D
CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low [Continuous]
CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu [General]
ELEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION:
An advanced genin level technique, it serves as a means to both enhance chakra control when mastered as well as a means to change one's advantages on the battlefield. By applying chakra to the soles of the feet, the shinobi gains the ability to walk and stand on vertical surfaces or even upside down.

NAME: Ittoryu Iai: Shishi Sonson [One Sword Style Draw-Cut: Lion’s Song]
RANK: A
CHAKRA USAGE: High
CLASSIFICATION: Bukijutsu
ELEMENT: Raiton
HANDSEALS: 3
REQUIREMENTS: Chakra Conductive/Raiton Reactive
DESCRIPTION: A powerful technique capable of cutting through solid steel like paper, Shishi Sonson coats the users blade from tip to hilt in Raiton Chakra while the user holds it within the saya, building pressure within until the user draws the blade in a flash of extreme speed and power. The ensuing cut extends out quite a bit further from the tip of the blade than normal (up to 15 meters), and is supremely lethal if it connects anywhere vital, though its strength does wane the further out you get, with the leading tip making shallower cuts, while just a meter down it cuts a deep gouge into even sturdy materials.

The technique, like many Iaijutsu, is limited in its use, having to issue out from the side that the user draws their blade from, which makes it predictable. Additionally, the technique takes a brief moment to charge, thus essentially announcing to any informed combatant what the user is about to do, making it impractical for use as anything other than an opening move.

It was moments like this that Ikana studied Sora closer, glad that she didn't open up with her initial jutsu. She was forced to remain creative, and when faced with this genjutsu that effected her, it was difficult to move. The stones she hurled with her lengths of hair. As the stones of course fell back towards her, that was why she'd maneuvered towards the sharp rocks, swinging herself away from their fall. Now resting in place. Still maintaining the handseal, she could see that her defenses were difficult to get through. If at all possible in these moments. She experimented moving her legs, her arms, and her other body parts to some extents. As she kept her eyes out.

Until eventually? A blinding flash of light. A powerful burst of movement and a slash to follow it that ripped through her tendrils of hair as if they were but paper. With the supports gone, she found herself falling towards the floor. Blinded as she fell towards the ground. Channeling chakra to her feet, she did about the only thing she could do in these moments. She curled the rest of those hair tendrils inwards towards herself and formed a barrier between herself and Sora. Only for the girl to stumble as a large wave proceeded to slam into her, and send her nearly falling into the powerful sea. As the tide continued to slam against the cliffside. Taking a momentary advantage, she'd let chakra channel into her feet, and she'd ride and skid along the ground, letting the natural waves move her.

Until she'd slam along the sharp and jagged rocks. "HNGH!" She'd call out, maintaining her handseal for dear life as she now had a rocky back to her. Needing a moment to compose herself and think. Making her hair form a sort of wall in front of her, she'd kept herself against the wall, as the waves crashed against her as she tried to compose herself. Get a moment more to think. Before she realized there wasn't much of a choice. Reaching her hand slowly to her kunai pouch, she'd undo her jutsu, as she flips it into the reverse grip. Before stabbing it into her thigh. Letting her arm drop, and letting gravity do the work as it sank deeply into her own flesh. The pain flooding through her system as she instinctively flinches, and slams her free hand as a fist against the wall. Gasping through the pain as she forces herself to move.

Forcing herself to begin ascending up the stone wall. Using acceleration to move her maximum speed. As she wrenches the Kunai free from its hold.

NAME: Kasoku Suru [Accelerate]

RANK: C

CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low

CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu

ELEMENT: -

HANDSEALS: 0

DESCRIPTION:

A very simple technique, by using chakra the user is able to instantly accelerate their selves to their max speed. This can be done in just about any condition, but any techniques that slow the user's movement (such as armor from jutsu or most jutsu that might slow an individual) will still affect them.

NAME: Suimen Hokou no Waza [Act of Water Surface Walking]

RANK: D

CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low [Continuous]

CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu [General]

ELEMENT: None

DESCRIPTION:

A slightly more advanced version of the Tree Climbing Skill, this technique allows a shinobi to walk on water as if it were a solid surface. What makes this so difficult is a very precise amount of chakra ust be applied, as balance is harder to maintain on a not so tangible and even moving surface.

Sora watched Ikana fall with a detached sense of concern, her lips pursed in a thin line as the girl was battered by the waves, knocked into the rocks, only to slowly struggle to the surface, her hair singed and wet but still in use despite the damage done. She could have attacked the Chuunin at any point, could have pressed her advantage, could have won with a single flick of her blade, but this wasn’t about winning.

This was about priorities.

"You don’t know how to Kai out, do you?" The Jounin said as she watched her former pupil stab herself in the leg, pushing through the pain as it cut her Genjutsu short. That would be something she would have to teach the girl, once this was over. Genjutsu was a bitch and a half to deal with without Kai. But that was for later. In this instance, Ikana had a different lesson to learn. The girl charged, speeding forward as fast as she’d ever seen her move, rushing up the wall with a Kunai in hand, clearly intent on continuing this fight.

Time to put an end to that. Sora thought as she rushed forward to meet her, utilizing the same techniques as earlier to bridge the distance between them once more- only this time, Samidare stayed in her hand, the weapon arcing up in a one-handed cut that held blinding, almost impossible to follow speed.

The cut sliced through haft of Ikana’s kunai perhaps three millimeters above where he hand was, the steel screeching as she sheared through it with nothing but speed and precision- and in the instant after, just when Ikana would realize what had happened, she brought her left hand surging forward to grab the Chuunin girl by the scruff of her shirt, stopping the both of them in mid-air as she laid Samidare against Ikana’s neck.

"Ikana…" She began, voice barely loud enough to be heard, the tears at last welling forth as she spoke. "You used my care for you as a tool to get an advantage in a spar. You used it, used me. Do you have any idea how scared I was, seeing you jump like that?" The Jounin paused then, the waves crashing beneath them as she took in a deep, slow breath, mastering the storm within before she spoke again. And when she did, it was with a soft, quiet voice that trembled with the kind of vulnerability she had not shown in years. Decades, even.

"Is that all I am to you? A goal to be overcome?"

Jutsu/SA's/Equipment Used
Jutsu:
NAME: Kasoku Suru [Accelerate]
RANK: C
CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low
CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu
ELEMENT: -
HANDSEALS: 0
DESCRIPTION: A very simple technique, by using chakra the user is able to instantly accelerate their selves to their max speed. This can be done in just about any condition, but any techniques that slow the user's movement (such as armor from jutsu or most jutsu that might slow an individual) will still affect them.

NAME: Gensoku Suru [Decelerate]
RANK: C
CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low
CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu
ELEMENT: -
HANDSEALS: 0
DESCRIPTION: The opposite to accelerate, decelerate effectively allows the user to instantly disperse all their momentum and stop on a dime as it were. This technique however can only be used for movement and the user must be touching the ground. This can not stop the user from taking damage from a fall nor can it stop their movement when being hit from an attack.

The differences and disparities between their skills were still high, no doubt. Ikana was quite fast. Especially for someone her age. So, when she moved forth at a fast speed, looking to gain further distance from Sora. Ikana found herself twisting her body, her kunai blade clashing against Samidare for but a moment. As the steel shattered and broke before the might of its sharpness and quality. Until she was held in mid air, with the sword held to her throat. Until Ikana looked up at the sky for a moment, and then to Sora, and their teary eyes. Until Sora asked. If that's all she was.

A goal to be overcome. To which Ikana slowly presses her throat a little bit closer to the blade. "Deception is the greatest tool for a ninja. You know...I've been deceived my entire life." She says, before pressing it a little bit tighter against Samidare's edge, as to give it the slightest nick. Before slowly looking down below at those waves. "I don't know what you are to me." She said it truthfully and honestly. She knew of course that she cared, but it didn't feel as if Ikana knew the true value just yet she held to Sora. In their short time.

"I've had people say they've cared before. Watching over me." The latter sentence having a couple of implications. "I don't think of you as someone to overcome." She said rather honestly and truthfully. As her blood dripped down her leg. "Because I don't really care about myself. I don't have any dreams or goals to look up to anymore." She says, before considering what was said. "But...You are the first person to cry for me." She said with a pseudo sort of revelation there. Before the brunette came to lean her head back. Rather calm about the entire thing. Offering her neck out towards the pinkette. Giving her a real idea of just how she thought.

"I suppose I didn't know how much you cared. I figured you cared just enough as a sensei. Maybe a bit more, since you said you've been where I've been. Because it wouldn't look good if one of your students died of depression or suicide. I figured you had me move in so that you could monitor me and keep track of my activities. Because the village distrusts me. Maybe it's a mix of things..." It was clear though that Ikana was uncomfortable. Since in honesty? She was kind of lost or foreign on this feeling. Because Ikana didn't really know in depth what love really was. They'd had a sample of it, but she was kind of lost. She seemed to attach more logic or reasoning to why people did things or cared.

Because Ikana assumed that if unconditional love, or passionate love existed? It wasn't for her.

Sora held Ikana over the crashing waves, Samidare held to the girl’s neck, looking for all the world a vengeful killer rather than an upset sensei… and as the girl spoke, intentionally cutting herself on the hyper-sharp blade’s edge, she realized something. For all the words she had spoken, trying to impart some degree of wisdom, the Jounin was not a speaker- she preferred actions to words, the flash of a blade and the ringing of the blood in her ears to talking things out. This isn’t how to do this.

Lowering her blade from Ikana’s neck, the pink-haired woman pulled her close, holding the girl tight as she formed a single hand seal, chakra pulsing through her whole body as she blurred back up to the cliff they had just been on. She let Ikana go once they were on solid footing, her tears drier by not quite gone as she sheathed her weapon and sighed.

"I moved you into my house because I care about you, Ikana." Sora said, rubbing the tears from her eyes as she looked down at the girl. "It was just as a teacher at first, but now it's more. You’re…" She trailed off, trying to find the right words as she ran a hand through her hair, the saltwater causing the strands to clump together. She spoke again after a long moment, looking Ikana in the eyes as she spoke, her voice soft and tender.

"I love you like a sister. And I just don’t want to see you hurting."

Ikana didn't fear death as much when it was being offered by someone else. Only through her own personal cowardice did she find herself unable to bring her life to an end. Her body refused. She for a moment perhaps was hopeful. That the blade would slash through horizontally and send a sharp ringing pain. Then in a few seconds? It would all fade to black. It never came. Instead, she felt the blade lower, and she was pulled in closer. Before the Shunshin was used and they were sent up to the top of the cliffside. Before they were released. Ikana's weight shifting onto her left leg, as she slowly looked forward.

Looking at those drying tears. She found herself looking at the shattered Kunai she still held within her hand. Looking at the sliver of her reflection for a second. As Sora said her motives were altruistic. That it was beyond a teacher relationship. Sora said that it was that of a sister. That at the end of the day, she just wanted to not see her hurting. Her leg didn't feel as throbbing anymore. Before she tried to fathom those words. Ikana had a sister once. A fiery blonde named Ikari. She remembered the last letter the received. Saying that she was cared for. Even when she'd left the Kyobona household. Yet. Ikana found herself so jaded and cynical that she couldn't believe it.

She didn't know what to say. Didn't know how she was feeling. She was sure she was feeling something. She just didn't know what it was. She found herself slowly seating herself on a rock. Ripping off her pant leg sleeve in long winding strips, as she began to tie herself a basic bandage as to avoid bleeding out. Tossing the broken kunai onto the floor, watching as it clattered against the rock. "I used to have the dream. Of becoming a Chuunin." She said with a twist of her head. "To live in a small home. With food on my table. To be comfortable. I thought with that. I could be happy. Now. Here I am." She said, looping the strip as she slowly ties it into a bow knot. The dark fabric being stained with her crimson.

"I don't remember what it's like. Not to hurt. I just know what it's like to distract yourself from it. I don't think I deserve to be happy. And I don't know if I ever will." She says, before looking down at her small form. Her hands. Before slowly moving her hand to her neck. Life was full of ups and downs they said, and Ikana's life had plenty of downs. It was a story of misfortune, though she'd risen to lift herself up from her bootstraps. Scrappy, but in a decently respectable position. Her whole life ahead of her! Yet, Ikana never saw the beauty in it. Nor had she seen the pleasure of its vices and the comforts that others may have had. In part because she'd never been in the position to. On the other part, because she tormented herself.

She was perhaps addicted to that sorrow, or felt comfortable being there, because that was all she'd known other than the brief distractions. Looking up at Sora, for a moment, she looked to Samidare, and slowly looked to their eyes again. Her own eyes was like that of a puppy dog that had been kicked, as she slowly lowers her face into her hands, her elbows resting along her knees. Though she didn't cry. She'd been bottling emotions for a small millenia, and with it, Ikana took a deep breath. Before trying to put the mask back on. Smiling with her eyes closed. Her head tilted slightly to the side. "Let's just...Forget I ever said anything."

"Because I don't think I can let anyone else into my heart. Forget about me. Okay?~ I'll pack up my things and I'll be out of your hair by tomorrow." It was a testament to Ikana's own stubbornness against Sora's.

Sora watched Ikana wrestle with her emotions, a small crack of vulnerability showing in the girl’s mask as she spoke, relaying her hope. The simple dream of a girl who hadn’t wanted much, who hadn’t dared dream beyond a comfortable life, with a few friends and a decent house. Other kids her age dreamed of glory, of destroying their village’s enemies, of becoming one of the Seven Swords or learning some powerful jutsu, but Ikana… Ikana just wanted some peace.

"No." The Jounin said once the girl was finished, her sky-blue gaze soft as she walked over to the rock where she had sat down, kneeling to check the makeshift bandage had been tied properly. "I’m not letting you go back to being alone, Ikana. It wasn’t good for me when I did it, and it won’t be good for you if you do it." It didn’t matter to her what the village thought of the girl. It didn’t matter what Ikana thought of herself. She could see the value in her, even if no one else did.

"I’m here, Ikana." Sora said, looking up into the young Chuunin’s eyes as she tightened down her bandage a bit more, ensuring it wouldn’t leak. This was the best she could do right now, but the Chuunin would need to see a medic once they got back. "As long as I’m here, you won’t ever have to bear the weight of it all alone again." The pink-haired woman pulled out a small pill from her hip pouch as she spoke, offering it to Ikana. A pain killer, not strong or addictive, but enough to cut the edge of her wound while they walked back to the village.

"I promise."

"...You turned out alright." Ikana would point out. She'd made it to one of the highest ranks possible. She turned out incredibly skilled. "I don't want to be a burden." She proceeded to say, and when Sora tightened down on the make shift bandaging work? Ikana proceeded to consider. "I know you're here." She says, running a hand through her head. Honestly, saying as much as she had was likely incriminating her. Releasing some of those feelings and thoughts. When she told them to Sora through her written works. That was a weakness.

There were cracks forming here and there, and with it, the brunette looked at the pill in question. "I can bear the pain." She'd say, as they began to make their way through. There was a lot of words left unsaid. Lots of feelings. However, as she stood up? Ikana found herself feeling strange. Funny. "You know...When I was younger. I remember my first meeting with a Mizukage. And he told me something that I already knew. He told me he brought me to talk with him. Because my life was worthless. That if I went missing and my body was found in a ditch. Nobody would care. That he could cut my head off with the executioner's blade."

"But he told me..."Your life can be made valuable.". For the first time in my life. Someone needed me. Wanted me. Used me for something. People were pleased in my existence. I had the things I never could have dreamed of. For a little while." She said it very lightheartedly and softly. "It's easy being alone. If that's all you know. It's when you get attached and hopeful; that's...Well." She seemed to shyly look along the rough stone of the cliff. "I don't know...I know I haven't talked a lot with you. You don't pry or ask a lot of questions. But I suppose. Maybe you should. I'll answer anything."

"I'm not afraid to answer."
