Sora watched the oncoming ship shift course at her words, pointing its bow dead center of their own ship and surging forwards, its intent clear. The pink-haired Jounin stepped away form the railing, her henge dropping as the crew scrambled around them, doing their level best to turn the ship about so it could take the brunt of the blow against the stern. Whether the vessel would still be sea-worthy after such a hit was, unfortunately, not her concern; she trusted the sailors and their Captain to do what was needed to bring them back to port. Right now, she had bigger worries.

"Time to move." She said as the crew worked, racing to the back of the ship, motioning for Sho to follow- though he had already caught on, flying into action a second before she did. Samidare came free of its sheath in a moment, her sky-blue gaze focused on the oncoming ship as she funneled Fuuton chakra into and through her feet, exploding into the air in a rush of speed that catapulted her over up and over the waves, landing a moment later on the deck of the enemy ship.

Sho would have to fend for himself for the moment. She had pirates to kill.

To give an example, if she were to be stabbed through her abdomen, she would still feel the pain of the injury, and it would hinder her ability to move/act, but it wouldn’t stop her, whereas a normal ninja might freeze up or shut down from the pain.

Being Chakra Conductive, Samidare is capable of channeling all types of Chakra for use in Bukijustu, and, more particularly, it has a slight affinity for Raiton chakra thanks to Sora’s constant use of the blade for that purpose. Leaping into the darkness Sho would reveal their true intentions at this close of proximity, but it was too late for the attacking ship to stop, and they would impact the ship soon after Sho landed in the dark water, running across it - having to balance on the sizeable waves - before he got to the rear of the pirate ship and would blend into the wood, lucky that it was indeed made of wood and not some other kind of material that would have made it more difficult for the Gure.

Sora though came along with Sho and would land upon the deck of the enemy, likely knocking her off balance pretty hard as she would land just as the collision occurred rocking her own ship as well, which the Captain had managed to move just enough to take the brunt. Now the two vessels were locked in and a roar of battle, immediate chaos as pirates crossed over onto the vessel Sora and Sho had been on, and approximately five different men and women approached Sora from all sides immediately as she intruded to attack her with their scabbards. They held onto rather basic weaponry, but it seemed that they were quite capable swordsmen nonetheless - their systematic attack revealed as much.

Sora hit the deck and rolled, the jolting impact of the two ships colliding forcing her to tuck her body in and tumble with the momentum, only to spring to her feet a moment later. Five pirates came at her in a coordinated attack, swinging scabbards in a clear attempt to bludgeon her down, but for all their skill, the Jounin was far, far faster on the draw, Samidare’s lightness and her own proclivity for speedy strikes allowing her to launch a rising diagonal, left to right, then a horizontal, then a falling right to left diagonal, the slashes twisting around her body in every direction.

She kept the tempo of the cuts up, following the beat of her own heart as she made her blade whirl, a storm of steel and power that extended the effective range of her cuts by a good half-meter, repeating the combination twice more before she bothered to slow down, channeling Fuuton into her blade to both extend its reach and enhance its cutting power, making it twice as long as normal. Should her flurry of attacks be enough to overcome the pirates around her, Sora would race forwards, slashing her blade in a wide arc to fell as many foes as she could, taking care not to strike any of her own sailors who had somehow crossed over with her.

Her aim was clear- make it to the other end of the ship, disable the wheel and, if possible, find and slaughter the ship’s captain to ensure he and his ilk never took another child again. Until that was done, the rest would be up to Sho and the crew of their own ship.

Each one of the extra slashes follow the same direction as the real trajectory of the user’s blade. Each slash is powerful and blindingly fast, but the true strength lies in the extra area covered by each swing that makes evading up close a nearly impossible matter.

Shō's heart pounded in his chest as he crept through the dark corridors of the enemy ship. He had to be careful. When he reached the deck, he saw Sora… and then a group of pirates. "Sigh." They were outnumbered, but he remained calm and recalled Sora's instructions. He quickly scanned the area for any signs of the kidnapped children or potential locations where they might have been kept. After this brief observation, he prepared to join the fight alongside the kunoichi as the pirates charged toward them.

From his quick assessment, it was clear that the enemies were not untrained pirates. Not willing to take any risks, Shō shouted the words, "Keizokuteki no Jutsu" a simple sound-based genjutsu that required no hand seals. To make it appear more authentic, he performed a few random hand seals to avoid arousing suspicion among the victims.

If all went according to plan, a dense mist similar to Kirigakure no Jutsu would appear in their vision, enveloping the whole ship, robbing their vision completely. The sounds they heard would also be manipulated by Shō himself, partially masking the actual noises made by both him and Sora. While fine-tuning the genjutsu to align with his vision, Shō also used the opportunity to search for any suspicious places. He didn't forget his primary mission in this operation: to rescue the kidnapped children.

Sora's attack was successful in overwhelming the non-shinobi trained five that had attacked her initially, but the next bit was a bit more difficult. As quite a few had crossed over following the impact, defending and attacking pirates in kind. Which meant her attacks had to be careful, throwing one way or another would certainly catch her fellow crewmates that were helping defend and were stuck in their own sword battles. Though many were Ama or Hozuki which meant that they were definitely on the winning end and did not really need her help against non-shinobi fighters.

Where she could, she would nick those that were not crossing blades with the opposition, but it wasn't the slaughter she had intended. Granted there was also no opposition in her getting past the two masts towards the helm, where the Captain had successfully defended against almost everyone that had tried to come his way. Some fatally wounded, others less so but definitely their pride wounded enough to have retreated.

This man clearly had some kind of training beyond just a regular person, though he was no shinobi as he wore bright red, had black hair - with large whiskers - and a hook for a hand, it was unknown what the hook could do at this moment as Sora approached.

"Argh! You! Come and fight me!" He announced before unleashing his own Sabre technique in Sora's direction with his scabbard.

For Sho he looked inside the ship for a moment and found two huddled masses deep under in the brig, shaken, one was curled up laying down as if they might be hurt... Instead of going down Sho created a mist for all that heard the trigger, which was in that direct vicinity just a few pirates and allies nearby and perhaps Sora if she had been listening before she killed the five attacking pirates. But definitely not the pirate Captain, and not many others who were fighting and were incapable of hearing the boys trigger through the din of battle and swords clashing.

Someone did come running towards Sho though his sword high in the air aiming to slice him down.

His efforts led him to a discovery beneath the enemy ship – a makeshift prison containing at least two individuals. However, before he could approach the prison and confirm their identities, he found himself under attack from an unexpected source. The surprise attack was compounded by the realisation that the noise from the chaotic battlefield had likely disrupted his sound-based genjutsu, allowing the assailant to remain unaffected.

Although not a master swordsman, Shō acted swiftly, drawing his tanto to parry the impending strike. Unwillingly, he had to cancel his genjutsu to shift his full attention to the close combat engagement, a situation in which he had limited expertise. Whether or not he managed to block the initial attack, Shō aimed to create some distance between himself and the attacker by retreating backward.

Initially considering calling for assistance, Shō quickly changed his mind. He couldn't be sure of Sora's status in her battle outside, and shouting for help might only draw more enemies to their location. With no alternative, he resolved to confront his ambusher alone.

In a rapid sequence of hand seals, Shō executed a deceptive technique. He slapped his hand against the ground and uttered the words, "Kuchiyose no Jutsu". White smoke rose from the ground, and a tiger materialised within the enemy's sight. However, it was all an illusion, a product of the Nise no Kuchiyose. The lightning-fast hand seals he performed were also fake; just some made up and random hand seals done to make the genjutsu appear more authentic.

If the assailant fell for the deception and was distracted by the illusory summoned beast, Shō would seize the opportunity to move swiftly toward the brig, intent on inspecting the imprisoned individuals, and release them if those were the kids he was looking for.

Sora moved in a blur, her initial plan to cut a wide swath through the enemy foiled as several sailors from the ship engaged with her, tangling with the pirates in a flurry of blows. Most seemed to be winning, but a few needed assistance, so she did what she could, flicking and stabbing to help them gain an advantage. But no matter what, the Jounin kept moving, charging forwards towards the back of the ship where she knew the Captain would be. Bodies were scattered across the deck of the ship, everyone who had fought the man either dead or seriously wounded, but that did little to dissuade the woman.

So when the man noticed her, declaring his challenge in a loud voice and launching a cut with the Saber technique, Sora was ready, her blade flooding with chakra as she met it with one of her own, the two cuts clashing in mid-air in a splash of chakra. She didn’t stop there though, Fuuton chakra pooling in her feet as she swung only to explode out the moment her Saber cut flew from her blade, launching her towards the man in a leap that carried her over the clashing cuts and directly into his space in a blur of speed.

The moment Sora entered his space she swung, Samidare a streaking blur of speed that was still twice its normal length thanks to her Hien, her cut coming in a precise, two-handed right to left rising diagonal meant to cut the man in half before he could react. Hopefully.

Well it was a little bit of a premature and anticlimactic battle but the captain was not really equipped to deal with a jounin coming at him at supersonic speeds having a blade enhanced in size so she quickly easily overcame that. That didn't quite stop the battle on the ships but it was certainly enough to get a few pirates to jump overboard in fear of being struck similarly, leave it to a regular cowardly crew member to jump ship in a moment where loyalty should have been shown. Alas, that was the result and now Sora could try and finish off what was leftover, or let everyone else do their work and assist where needed.

In the meantime, Sho would find himself successfully traversing down into the brig where the kids were hidden and indeed there were two children dressed quite poorly in tattered yukata and no shoes, with quite messy hair staring at the boy with white hair. One of them gasped and flinched away hiding the other behind his body.

"Don't hurt us mister!" It was definitely a scary thing to have someone wander up while the ship was clearly shaking and parts of where they were sitting had filled with water from the original impact.

Seizing the momentary distraction from his genjutsu, Shō delved into the hidden depths below. As expected, the brig confined the frightened children who were most likely the recently missing kids. The trapped kids were afraid of his arrival, and their fear was further amplified by the water seeping in from the ship's initial crash.

"Don't worry, oniisan is here to help." Shō reassured them with a gentle smile, aiming to calm their nerve down. If the cell happened to be locked, he would muster all his strength into his arm before forcefully driving his tantō into the lock. Following that, he would inquire if they knew of any other children being confined in this area.

Regardless of the answer, Shō quickly guided the frightened children to safety, prioritising their safety before contemplating the next course of action. Manoeuvring through the chaotic ship, he acted as a shield for the young ones. Despite his confidence in fighting, Shō knew that protecting the children added a layer of difficulty to the combat. Ensuring the safety of the children wasn't a guarantee he could offer, so he made sure to avoid any confrontations. His focus shifted to reuniting with the ship's Captain, believing that entrusting the helpless children to the Captain's care would be the optimal solution in this case.

Sora’s felt her cut ring true, the Captain’s body slowing as he realized what was happening in slow motion. One second passed, two, then a third, his upper half sliding down to the ship’s deck in one direction while his lower half fell in the opposite, spraying blood across the wooden planks. The Jounin moved, slipping to the side so she didn’t get showered in the dark red liquid, though of course she didn’t avoid all of it- some got on her face and arms, droplets of crimson that made her already fearsome visage even moreso.

A few of the pirates who had been waiting in the wings turned tail and ran at the sight, but a surprising number stood their ground, fighting against the crew tooth and nail. The battle seemed to be going in their favor though, with more and more of the enemy either falling down dead or injured, though there were pockets of resistance still. The Jounin, not content to let the men fight alone, waded into the slowly dying chaos, allowing Samidare to return to its own length as she joined the first fight she could find.

Swinging her blade down into the back of a pirate who was battering a young looking man against the steps, Sora twisted the blade free just as the man died, hurtling over the railing and onto the main deck, lips parted in a snarl as she raised her voice, hopefully loud enough to be heard over the din of battle- but if it wasn’t, she could easily keep killing the thieving, murderous bastards.

"Enough! Your Captain is dead! If you continue to fight, you WILL die! Lay down your arms and you will be spared!"

Sho would manage to open the cell in which the kids were locked inside of with quite a bit of force, but that didn't quite stop the kids cowering. They had clearly been abused to some extent, so even though Sho was being soft and calm, they were expecting the worst regardless and continued on shivering in the corner. When the white haired shinobi inquired about others the kids just shook their heads vigorously.

By the time Sho managed to coax the kids out of their corner, though they were quite teary-eyed and fearful of what was going to happen still even after any implications that they were now safe, well the battle was over. Mostly because Sora had shouted to everyone to lay down their arms. It seemed like a good thing to be spared in a losing tide so indeed the pirates stopped their fighting and stepped back hands in the air hoping that the woman would hold to her word. Some others would also jump overboard hoping to simply swim to shore or the bed of rocks that was nearby.

Sho in this manner would manage to get the kids back to their original ship, but now also came the crux of the mission, after all it was not *just* about saving the kids.

To unlock 2 NPCs the children must be persuaded to join the Kiri academy, this ensures the missions 100% success.

Surprise flickered in Shō's eyes as he marveled at the swift efficiency with which Sora concluded her task. Gratitude filled him for seeking her assistance. "I can't imagine what would happen if I'm doing this all alone…" he mused quietly. As Shō guided the trembling children back to their original ship, he then suddenly remembered they actually had one more "optional” mission. The immediate danger might have passed, but the true challenge of the mission lay in persuading these traumatised youngsters to embrace a new beginning in Kirigakure. Though not adept at conversation, Shō resolved to give it his best shot.

Approaching the kids with a gentle smile, Shō knelt down, his tone soothing and earnest. "Hey, it's okay. You're safe now." He comforted them with a tender pat on their heads, reminiscent of how he treated his younger sister. "You know, I have a sister that is around your age." In an effort to establish a connection, Shō opened up about his own experiences. "I understand it's scary, but I've faced tough times too..."

Sharing stories about his sister, the unique aspects of Kirigakure, and the cultural richness, including delicacies like mooncakes, Shō portrayed Kirigakure as a special place, not necessarily perfect but it always offered a chance for everyone for a fresh start. It was a place to grow stronger, make new friends, find mentors, and become part of a close knitted community. "And I can guarantee you there would always be warmth in the misty village." Shō claimed proudly, emphasising that he would always be there for them.

To ease their immediate fears, Shō reassured them, "You don't have to decide right now. Take your time." With warmth in his eyes, he patted them once more, signalling to Sora to lend her persuasive words to the conversation. Perhaps, he thought, she might excel at convincing the children.

Sora watched the pirates' reaction with a look of calm disdain; as far as she was concerned, each and every one of the rotten bastards were cowards, but at least the ones who had surrendered were smart cowards. Anyone that jumped ship would simply be captured anyway, and those who fought on would most assuredly die, if not by her hand than by the sailors, so continuing the fight was pointless. The smart thing, the only smart thing, would be to capitulate and hope for leniency. Or at the very least a lengthy prison sentence instead of an execution.

Still, with the threat gone, the Jounin flourished Samidare to the side, flicking the blood from her blade before gently running through the steps of notou, placing the back of her sword atop the sheath and dragging it forward until the kissaki fell into the saya, then pushing the weapon into the sheath by feel rather than sight. It wasn’t a long process, perhaps a few seconds at most, but in her mind it signaled the end of hostilities, flipping off the switch in her brain that let her mow through a man without a second thought. It wasn’t until she saw Sho with two children in tow that Sora remembered the other half of their mission- convince any children they found to move to Kirigakure and enroll in the Academy.

The pink-haired Jounin trotted over to where Sho stood, allowing her junior to do the talking while she cleaned the blood from her face and arms as best she could, standing off to the side so as not to alarm the children. When the Gure finally called her over she was far cleaner, her face and arms free of blood (though, sadly, not her uniform- that would require a launderer), her eyes shining with a soft sense of understanding as she knelt down before the boy and girl, smiling softly.

"The two of you have been very brave." She said, lifting her hands up to rest them on the children’s shoulders, her gaze shifting from one to the other with deliberate slowness. There was… an art to guiding children to the decisions you wanted them to make. It wasn’t quite manipulation, not really, but it was close enough that she rarely pulled it out on her students in the Academy. Rarely, but not never, and if there was ever a time to use those skills, it would be now.

"I know it isn’t much of a consolation prize, but the man who did this is gone. He won’t be hurting any more kids like you ever again.”[/b] Sora began, her smile turning wry for the briefest of moments as she looked at the boy, then the girl, voice soft and understanding. "We’re going to take you back to Kiri with us soon, help find you a home. Ok?"

The kids just stared at Sho as he tried to explain all that his home village had to offer. In truth, both of them wanted to go home to their parents... But they had been taken away and their parents were gone that much they knew. They would never be able to return to them. Their home village on the islands would be a nice reprieve, but there was nothing there but an abandoned home. Could they even return to such a place? The older child, was holding onto the younger one's hard, fingers clutching against fingers haphazardly as the ship rocked back and forth and the breeze caressed their faces for the first time in what felt like weeks.

But with no skills and no parents it seemed like a not so bad option. Especially with how the village was painted, maybe they would have a warm meal too...

The woman approached then and offered them that they would find a place to live for them, and with a small smile the older of the two nodded, the second was still hiding behind the other a little bit.

"A-Alright..."

Then the little one's stomach grumbled and the older became sheepish in response.

"I-is there food?" He whispered.
