Observing the children's expressions, Sho couldn't help but feel terribly regretful. "Oh god, how could I be that insensitive and unthoughtful?" He recognized his misstep, but it was too late to retract those words. They had their own family and home, so naturally, their immediate desire would be to return home. Social interactions weren't his strong suit, but he couldn't entirely deflect the blame. As a chunin, he should have known better.

His moment of regret was suddenly interrupted by a loud grumble. "Food?" Sho remarked, recalling that he had brought some extra provisions with him precisely for this occasion. The field rations included crackers, preserved meats and vegetables. While not a gourmet meal, they would certainly satisfy hungry stomachs with the balanced packed nutrients. They were designed for shinobi after all, prioritising portability and nutrition, and most importantly, adhering to the strict government sector standards.

"Eat it slowly. There are still lots of them." Seeing the children safe, Sho couldn't help but reveal a satisfying smile. While the kids were busy eating, Sho retrieved some spores from his securely fastened pouch and transformed them into mushrooms using his kekkei genkai. He offered them to the kids gently and said, "Trust me, Kirigakure serves better and tastier foods." It reminded him of the home-cooked meals from his grandparents, and perhaps he would treat them to such delights once they returned to Kirigakure.

"As much food as you want." Sora said when the little boy asked his question, her voice soft and smile wide as she slid a hand up to ruffle his hair, glancing back at Sho only to confirm that he did, in fact, have something to give the children. Thankfully the Chuunin proved to be rather well prepared, offering the siblings some bits of salted meat and crackers from a ration pack; not a sumptuous fare by any means, but probably more than either of them had tasted since their abduction… whenever that was.

"Come on. Let’s get you two situated with some clean clothes and a bed." The Jounin said, standing up to lead the children off to their quarters- she threw Sho a quick hand sign, signaling him to talk to the Captain about bunking them in with the crew while the kids slept in their room, but otherwise left the Chuunin to his own devices. She had kids to help, after all, and while the Gure might have been capable when it came to helping his sister, he had a long way to go when it came to handling complete strangers.

The last she flashed him, though, was something more respectful; a simple swish of her upraised thumb, easily understood even by those who had never been in the Hunter Corps. Good job, kid.

The two would grab at the provisions, and at first found themselves confused before ripping into the packs and beginning to eat. They ate quickly until Sho told them to eat slowly, and it was only out of some modicum of respect for adults that they did slow down. These adults didn't seem like they were going to hurt them. They ate and ate until the mushrooms were offered, the youngest made a face looking grossed out. The oldest took them gingerly unsure of what to do with the fungi. He had never really eaten *raw* mushrooms before and they certainly smelled funny - as most fungi had a particular smell...

Either way their attention was taken from Sho when the woman stepped up and offered to get them clean clothes and beds to sleep in. The eldest of the two nodded and offered to help lead the youngest along down into the cabin space.

It seemed that the two managed to persuade these kids to at least come along without much of a fuss. There was no real indication about their parents, and no one said a word and for now they were distracted.

In time the two would discover their parents had passed away at the hands of the pirates, but it was not such a time. For now they would rest in clean clothes and in beds for the first time in what felt like a literal eternity.

Noticing the sign from his senior, Sho nodded and went to talk with the captain. "Ugh…" Despite feeling a bit defeated by his own poor conversational skills, he found solace in the fact that they had completed their mission without any harm coming to the kidnapped children.

It was finally time to head home… As thoughts of heading home crossed his mind, a concern about the ship's condition surfaced. "Speaking of which, do we need to repair the ship first before departing…?" He wondered. Usually it wouldn’t matter, but he had promised to train with his sister for her upcoming graduation test. Time was of the essence, and if necessary, Sho was willing to lend a hand in the repairs.

Approaching the Captain with a respectful nod, Sho began recounting the events that transpired. "Captain, the immediate threat has been neutralised. The pirates have surrendered or jumped ship. As for the children, they're safe now and under the care of Sora. They've been through a lot, but we'll ensure they get the support they need."

Awkwardly, Sho continued, "Oh… We also wanted to inquire about the ship's condition. If repairs are necessary before our departure, I am at your service. I understand the importance of a swift return to Kirigakure, and I am here to assist in any way you deem fit." Sho conveyed his offer of support, but of course, without revealing his own personal bias.
