Clan Hierarchy

The Hinamori clan has a fairly simple hierarchy which consists of a general, advisers, captains, soldiers, and members. It must be noted that there is no high lineage nor heir to take the title. They don't believe in that kind of leadership. A leader is picked by their sheer skills and must uphold the clan's motto. Now, they don't claim the title until their brittle and old. They can willingly step down from the position or be overthrown should they bring disgrace upon themselves or even worst, dishonoring the clan which will result in capital punishment.

Clan History

During the time where the demon art of ninjutsu had yet to be known, the Hinamori clan were a kin of skilled hunters. These were no ordinary hunters, though. They share a symbiotic relationship with their raptorial birds. Training these birds of prey to aid them in their hunt, the hunters in return reward their feathered friends with a portion of their catch. They lived in bare flat plains that spanned into a bamboo forest. It is a beautiful section of land and within their territory, wild horses roamed. They saw this as an opportunity and took it upon themselves to capture some of the wild horses and train them. Of course, this was no easy task, in fact, it was quite the challenge. They already had some knowledge in training wild raptors. However, they were now dealing with much larger, powerful beings. It would take the novice horsemen a significant amount of time to learn from their mistakes.[break][break]

With a bit of trial and error, the Hinamori Clan trained long and hard to develop a close connection with their horse. This bond between human and horse awarded the Hinamori Clan with a reliable mount to traverse the lands. The horses were now a significant part of their clan. With time, the clan members began breeding the horses. They would selectively pick the fastest and spotted coated horses from the wild herd. Although, not all their horses are spotted. The appaloosa were horses that they greatly admired for their charm and beauty.[break][break]

As the years progressed, the clan was known for breeding the fastest horses around. Their horses were exceptional means to cross the lands in a timely manner. Because of this, the Iron Daimyō showed great interest in their mounts, he wanted their horses to be used for his masses of soldiers. However, these horses meant everything to the clan, so giving them up to strangers was an absolute no go! They refused to supply the Daimyō's samurai with their precious beings. Wanting to avoid potential conflict with the powerful for fear of having their horses forcefully seized for them, they offered the Daimyō a proposal. They keep their horses for themselves and join forces with the Daimyō's samurai army.[break][break]

Of course, the Iron Daimyō didn't want some fake samurai plebs working for him. Unbeknownst to the Daimyō, the Hinamori clan exhaled in the art of archery and are renowned horsemen. But he wanted proof of their so-called skills. This was an easy feat. The horse kin holds an annual tradition known as yabusame. Not only was this a form of entertainment but it was also a showing of their remarkable mounted archery skills, which can be used to scale hight in the ranks. One at a time, archers gallop down a 255-meter track at full speed while drawing and shooting their bow to hit their targets. The targets can be located to the right, left, or even both sides of the track and come in different shapes, sizes, and materials. They can be located from as low to the ground to as high as a bamboo stalk.[break][break]

Gathering their most skilled mounted archers, they put on a rather splendid show for their guest. This showing greatly enticed the Daimyō and ultimately accepted their pact. They were true worriers, even without the title of samurai, but that would soon change. As promised the clan served the Daimyō from there on out, not only gaining them the title of a true samurai but also gaining other buki skills. Nowadays, the clan is primarily found in the land of iron, serving the Daimyō. Although it isn't unusual to find samurai in uncharted lands.

Kyūjutsu [Art of Archery]

Although samurai are usually known for their extraordinary swordsmanship, the Hinamori are a clan that are primarily known for their excellent marksmanship, with training starting at an early age to hone in on their skills. To the Hinamori, kyūjutsu is considered a vital skill, not only for hunting purposes but also for striking down their enemies. They are deadly at close to far range. Capable of judging the distance of their target to determine whether to over-aim or under-aim in order to land that perfect shot, of course, also taking weather into consideration. Although they can't predict their opponents next move, they're good at anticipating where their opponent is likely to move.

Horsemanship

The clan pride themselves on having the fastest horses around, so it isn't surprising for clan members to have exceptional equestrian skills. Mounting, dismounting, trotting, galloping, and vaulting are all basic skill the clan members are taught at a very young age. Clan members train with their own horses and constantly ride them gaining great control over their mount. Hopping onto a horse bareback let alone riding bareback is an incredibly difficult task. The Hinamori, however, can easily balance themselves as they constantly adjust their seating position to the horses movements.

Falconry

Although, not necessarily a special ability. It's an art form that they partake in that requires constant devotion to their feathered friend. The Hinamori train their raptors to fly freely on their own will, searching for a potential prey. These birds are often used to hunt for them or for scouting. With those precious keen eyes of theirs, they're capable of spotting a foe from a great distance. Though, that's not their only usage. They're capable messengers, able to send important letters to the Daimyō himself, the Hinamori head, or other stationed samurai.
