Certain conditions bring out the worst in any and all resources. As agriculturally balanced as Konohagakure is, there has apparently become a mild issue in which the food supply is being contaminated by a strain of viral infection. This has effectively made it impossible to safely contain the well-being of the livestock. While it could easily have something to do with what they are being fed, strange sightings in the night have caused suspicion of opposition among food suppliers as a possible cause, putting these farmers at odds with each other.
