It needed to be said, it needed to be done. Kunikunosaku never thought she cared enough, but a part of her did, why would she be on her way? Why would she be anywhere but the icy caverns at the cities edge? Well, the creature had a habit to be away from anything with a pulse, all they did was call for it, like a glowing target on their hearts. None of them were worth it in the end. Actually, they were, yet best save that horror for the Exams. Where the body of one had the power to shake the participants but bodies of 5 shook a nation, 10 would shake the world. It wasn't so much she wanted to end someone, she wanted to stop Jiongu's demands. That's all it simply was and unlike everyone else, she had the power to follow through.

Still, this story wasn't about power nor an unknown philosophy that came with being a monster. It was about the little humanity the girl had left. It was almost a death walk through the cold and dead of night, through the horrible tundra to the cabins; yet, it wasn't the weather bothering it, how could it when it has failed thus far? No, the destination itself was a torture of the mind. However, it had to be done now, a chance wouldn't return for many if any years. Entering the cabin inn, Kunikunosaku slowed her pace even more as to not disturb sleeping, and/or trying-to-sleep guests.

Coming to one door, Kunikunosaku stopped as she clenched a fist, a raised the arm only partially. Freezing as she doubted herself and what may or may not happen. Thinkingif this was worth the trouble, if any of this is worth it. The white haired genin bite hard on its bottom lip before finding the courage to knock kind of really hard on the door.

Jiongu | Earth Grudge Fear

After having to recycle the roots that ended up killing the previous Apprentice just to transfer Jiongu to Kunikunosaku, the mass of black roots recollects most of its abilities from the Apprentice previous while forming new ones with its new master/host, Kunikunosaku. As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

Symbiotic Bond: Strong Mind, Strong Body

As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

WASURETE

This city was infuriating. Mindless acts that tried to distract the tourists that constantly wandered through it's streets. Something that had, in all appearance, been worsened by the arrival of the Chuunin Exams. It was an absolutely harrowing task for Wasurete not to degrade the next person who stepped in front of the youth on their "sight seeing journey" through this awful excuse for a city. This was going to be something Wasurete had to get used to throughout the week, he couldn't keep himself trapped in this god forsaken room the whole time. He had to scout his competition.      Despite knowing that fact, however, for right now, he kept himself in his room, trying to gather his senses before he yelled at some idiotic tourist. He had done some basic studying of his opposition, some of them had been dumb enough to use at least some of their jutsu. Some fire specialist using his Katon to warm himself up, some of the Yuki natives showing off their proclivity for the cold. This meant Ice, Water, or Wind, in most cases. There were the people from the mist, who if Wasurete's studies were to be believed, primarily used Suiton jutsu.     The more he thought out his strategy, the more he realized he should probably give the addition of his teammates for this journey. The Mikatakujira was likely doing some observation of her own. She was a smart shinobi, Wasurete doubted she was wasting her time. Hideo might be, The Shisen's expectations of that shinobi in particular were fairly low, to say the least. He gathered his notebook, an object he had written every bit of information he had seen so far, and thought through his next plan of course. Seeing Kuni-kun was the best route of action, but that meant more preperation.     Wasurete could never be sure why, but every time he talked to her he could feel his chest flooding with a strange chorus of emotions he was... unused to feeling.      He couldn't deal with those emotions right now.     He tried to mentally prepare himself for the act of meeting Kuni-kun. Sheltering his emotions deep into his core, burying them with whatever strength he had to do so. This was simply a meeting to discuss strategy during the tournament, nothing more and nothing less. And so Wasurete found himself lost in thought, every infuriating thing about her taking center stage, as he made the assumption that if the things at his foremost thought were negative, he could bury his emotions better. He knew where her room was, he could attempt to bury his emotions more on the way there. For now, he would start his journey.      He opened his door to see the Mikatakujira staring back at him. Unlike her, he still had blood in his body, however, most of it seemed to rush straight into his cheeks. He stared back at her, blinked a few times to make sure he was seeing correctly, and took a deep breathe before speaking. "Ah, Kuni-kun... I was just on my way to find you, good timing. Come in." While his wording was formal, his actual tone was filled with embarrassment as he quickly turned and found his way back into his room, hiding his face from her.

It didn't take long for Wasurete to open the door, in doing so, he stated his surprise at her being t the door, that he was about to head to her room. Thank god, I don't remember ifI even checked in yet. Wait, I did. Wait, where the hell is it? Kunikunosaku's blank expression aided in hiding her emotions but it may have relayed her thoughts. "I know you see things. Better than I. Let's come up with a plan, I'll relay it to Hdeo, think he's in number 3, not a far walk." The girl said, trying to walk into a room, placing a hand on Wasu's chest to gently push him back. The brief contact allowed her to feel it. The pace was faster than when she literally had roots on it. It's beat was stronger. It made the girl's arm twitch, quickly pulling to stop the desire, or at least try to.

Once in, the girl stood in the center of the room, turning to look at the boy. "I found most had similar elements, well Jiongu did. Most were quick to anger, we could exploit that. Could. You know how excited I get around this many shinobi. What did you learn?" Kunikunosaku asked, her voice straight t the point. Kōi was paying attention, Kuni's mind wandered. The girl bit her bottom lip as she waited for him to nitpick, to give his thoughts, to say something. She already had a bad feeling about being here.

"Wasurete?"

Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

WASURETE

This was certainly an interesting situation to be in. The last time that Wasurete was alone with Kuni-kun in his own domicile he was actively searching for a way to murder her. Right now, the thought of killing her didn't even cross his mind. Kuni-kun had left a slight impression on the youth, for better or worse, and so he was more than willing to hear her out. When she touched him to push past, his heart raced. The normal calmness that his being exuded was replaced with an even stronger feeling in his stomach. It felt light and fluttery for some reason.      He shoved the thought out of his mind however. Listening to her comments and undercutting the moment with a lighthearted joke, "I actually only see on the left side, so I'm pretty sure your eyesight is better." He walked back into his room proper and opened his notebook to whatever information he currently had on his exam opponents. Anything that he thought could be exploited was underlined, and each name was written in a different color to represent the village they called home. When it came to something like this, Wasurete was an incredibly well organized individual. What that meant for his opponents was anyones guess.      "The obvious strategy during the group stage of the exam is for you to be our tank, Hideo to keep our enemies spread out with his fumes, and me to distract our enemies and go in for kills when they're already occupied. My abilities do little to help me in a frontal attack, yours do. I am however working on some new tricks that should help us in the exam if I can get them working." If he kept his mind focused on business, on the exams, then he could distract himself from the emotions building internally.

"That strategy is viable in group situations. It somewhat worked against Etsuko, even better on that mission. I think if we're on flat terrain, our best bet is to stick together. Sure, you may need break us out, you maybe left in a wake, but is that better than being picked off alone. If we ever get separated, if we're on own or we get put on separate teams, do you have what it takes to survive on you own? To fight me?" Kunikunosaku asked, worried of either answer but if he couldn't do it, his minutes might just be 15 seconds. Wasurete definitely played strategist, not being a direct combatant allowed Wasurete to be a strategist, a war leader. Magenta eyes followed the boy as he moved along. It was odd to say the least. Wasurete was barely holding himself together, why?

Kunikunosaku tried to separate the goal from the task, yet, she focused on the task, goals came later. The girl more or less just waited for him to speak as she moved again, sitting on the edge of his bed. She focused her attention on him. "Please tell me you thought about that." Kunikunosaku asked, a hint of concern in her voice. Kicking her legs over the side, things just seemed alright. In the end, Kunikunosaku thought it was nice, he was neat. Guess being fancy taught him that.

WASURETE

Wasurete thought about how Kuni-kun spoke of the situation. She seemed... worried. Not in a condescending way like Wasurete was often used to, but just in a very deliberate, thought out way. As if she was genuinely concerned for Wasurete's safety. His clan showed worry for Wasurete at times, but that always came in the form of a worry that he would disgrace them, a worry that he would disappoint them. Kunikunosaku didn't seem like she'd be mad, or like Wasurete would disgrace their squad if he failed, she seemed worried for what might happen if Wasurete wasn't careful enough.     He didn't fully understand why.     "There's nothing to worry about," he scoffed at the idea that he was in danger. He had been thinking this out closely, "None of them really look... smart enough to escape my tricks. The only reason you can survive my tricks is that cutting your head off doesn't end you. I doubt a single competitor in this exam could possibly be a tougher person to kill than you." his braggart personality being wrapped around what he considered a compliment. She was a nearly impossible person to kill from Wasurete's perspective, someone who he surprisingly had no desire to kill anymore.     An issue of proximity, Wasurete assured himself. If she wasn't his partner in this exam, he'd have her dead to rights. That had to be it. He couldn't imagine that anything else was behind his lack of intent. He sat down on the edge of his bed, his smile crawling back across his face as he spoke. "We're finally in the type of environment I'll thrive in. Murder is allowed during combat in the exams. It's a necessary risk to decide how strong the genin of the villages are. It's why we come together with even our nations enemies to compete here. We're no longer just genin. We're representatives of Taki. We're soldiers, in a mock war."

It was an answer, did it evade the question. Can he survive on his own? Guess things have to pan out in the CEs, he was confident to say that she was possibly was the hardest contestant to kill, a comment that made Kunikunosaku. About time he actually acknowledged it. "Well, if you are confident in your skill, I believe in you." Kunikunosaku stated with a half-smile, looking at her knees, before gripping her arm. Something felt hollow like he avoided it because of doubts. "So, I may have spilled the fun. I was scouting and I met another contestant. We made a deal justifying a means to an end. In exchange for helping me get hearts, she doesn't want me to hurt or kill her. I bring this up because she knows our teams is here, Suikazura knows yet she still wants an alliance. This deal stretches to you guys as well, she doesn't want our team to hurt her in exchange for power. I agreed, yet, I know you will have qualms and Hideo doesn't care."

The Mikatakujira leaned forward, "I want your help here. If I get stronger, I can help more and reach my goal." Kōi placed a finger to tap the skull beret Kuni wore as it bit its lip. "I know this is asking a lot of you, Wasurete, but I'm not asking." As Kōi was talking, the girl stood to place a knee on the bed before sighing and closing their eyes. "But consider this my late question of will you help me with this." Without missing a beat, Zangyaku kōi moved forward, stealing a kiss from Wasurete before pulling away. "You know this is important to me, please."

Kōi just waited there for an answer, biting its bottom lip, the creature sat down and stared at the ceiling waiting for an answer and whatever Wasurete had to say next.
