NAME: Off To The Sled Races ESTIMATED TIME RANGE: 14 Days POSTING TIME: 48 hours VILLAGES PARTICIPATING: Yukigakure Only | Wanin allowed if slots are not filled RANK: D NPC DUTY: Yuki Shuka/Yuki Lady/Cocoa RULES: 1. Not death-enabled. Lethal force is forbidden. Outright, malicious attempts to cause injury are also forbidden. This event is primarily for fun and violence is discouraged. 2. That being said, all jutsu and weapons are allowed for purpose of progression in the race. Non-violent sabotage of other participants is allowed. 3. The word count requirement for each post is 200 words. 4. An NPC post will go up every other day after 10:00 P.M. CST describing the relative position of the racers and the obstacles in their paths. Failure to post in this 48-hour window does not result in the immediate disqualification of a participant. Instead, they will have to write a 400 word post describing how they fell behind and how they managed to overcome and catch up with the group. Missing a second round will up the requirement to 600 words, and missing a third round will up the requirement to 800 words. If a participant misses four rounds, they are disqualified. Further description of the mechanics of play will be provided in the event description. Background: A new Yuki Lady is in power, and she is interested in invigorating the cultural landscape of Yukigakure, creating a sense of unity and an identity that does not rely solely on cold violence and mercenary combat. People view the ice and snow as things of danger and death, and they're not wrong, but Shuka firmly believes they should also be symbols of wonderment. So she is hosting a small, relatively casual event: A sled race. On the opposite side of the mountain from Bōheki Watch, on one of the few less-than-deadly slopes the nation has to offer, shinobi of all ranks will be allowed to go head-to-head in an icy race down the mountainside. Mechanics: The sled race will consist of seven legs, each leg taking place over the course of one 48 hour rotation. During each leg, the race participants will be faced with an obstacle that they must surmount. In order to clear the leg, they must achieve a total of five points in their post. One point can be earned by posting on time, one point can be earned by meeting the word count. The remaining three points are earned by convincingly and creatively addressing the obstacle presented to them, and bonus points can be achieved for extra style. This encourages players to really get creative with their ideas. Instead of simply sledding along like normal, climb a tree and divebomb off it for a speed boost for that sweet Style Bonus. Posters who fail to meet the five point minimum, either by failure to post or because they ignored an obstacle in their reply, will be confronted with an extra challenge. This will hopefully give them more creative inspiration to give them a boost in order to catch up with their opponents, or give them more material to work with when writing a longer post after a missed round. The person with the most points at the end of the second week will cross the finish line first. Prizes: 75 xp for first place, 25 xp for any other placement. Additionally, the winner will get a cool sled [described below].

DESCRIPTION: An incredibly sturdy steel saucer sled, designed perfectly to slide along the slopes of Yukigakure’s precarious and dangerous mountains. It is large enough to comfortably seat a full-grown adult, and can be used to ride snowdrifts, or, if you’re really, really, really lucky, maybe even an avalanche. The material is not chakra reactive, but a shinobi could, in theory, use the art of water surface walking to balance on it and surf the snow while standing. Could be thrown like a frisbee, but it really wouldn’t make a great weapon at all.
