Of course it was a trap. As a light violently dispelled the light and his eyes compensated for the sudden brightness. He knew it had to be with the sudden shift of demeanor and when the woman that had seemed so bubbly at the beginning would seem to change the way she spoke he couldn't do else but find it rather humorous. Not that he disregarded the inherent danger, she was likely a shinobi much like himself, it was such a different tonal shift that he had to prevent himself from laughing as she seemed to be trying hard enough. The scarred woman however, she seemed like the real deal. Anger shone in her eyes and when she took the baton in her hands, she did so with a brutal but effective flourish. "Oh?" He said in a well feigned surprise. Eye shifting between the two as the expression of the guise he assumed would become neutral. "I am but a simple man trying to make my way through the world." He offered, knowing that they wouldn't believe it, the farce was up, the threat of the guards was there, shown to him when he had been walked through the gallery. Surely they were well trained, but not shinobi trained. He was sure that with the right strategy he could take them all and get enough information of who these people worked for. Slowly, he would raise his arms as if he were about to surrender, doing so slowly, deliberately, knowing that both would look at him as if he were a prey that they were mesmerizing with their sight and presence. "Oh well... I suppose it cannot be avoided then." He said as a trio of pink-like orbs grew in his hands and chakra was sent to his feet, in a quick motion he violently released the orbs, jumping back as he would violently stamp them against the floor as clouds of thick, golden haze began to erupt in the room, quickly filling it with a quiet hiss and a sweet scent that would induce a lethargy and then sleep to those that would breath it in. He would continue his quick jump back, using his speed to gain some distance from the baton wielding woman, alternating his measured retreat by jumping to side as to avoid the arcs of her baton as well as allowing for the pollen to take its due effect. A hand would raise and quickly formed hand seals, preparing for the next move of in this opening stanza, hoping that Tomomi was zeroing unto him in case things went sour.

After weaving the corresponding hand signs, the user creates up to three lotus buds, its petals enclosed into the rough form of conical form. The grenades themselves are not durable, instead they filled with the same pollen found in Mokuton: Kajukai Kōrin [Wood Release: Advent of a World of Flowering Trees], as the petals break off they release a thick cloud of this pollen that covers a perimeter of fifteen meters, the technique is useful as it allows the user to cover their escape or advance, as well as it presents a danger to the opponent that inhales the pollen as it would render them unconscious in mere instances acting as a determent to advance into the cloud of pollen however like the parent technique, an enemy afflicted with this technique can overcome its effects if they have enough willpower, the effect of pollen lasts three turns. As the turn advance and the cloud disperses it loses its potency, its radius shrinking by five meters every turn until it completely disperses, this technique lasts for three turns.

Apart from enhancing speed, this technique gives the user the ability to walk on water and evade projectile attacks with ease.

A true-born Senju, Kazuto has mastered Mokuton. Hailed as the one greatest master of the Kekkei Genkai, his abilities with Mokuton are held in high regard, mastering the many techniques for which the clan is renown whilst also bending his ingenuity to create a discipline of his own referred by those within the clan as merely the branching path and by him as Senbonzakura. His techniques can either be great in power and scope or subtle and deceptively simple, creating either durable wooden constructs, imaginative tools for a wide range of occasions or deadly hails storms of cherry blossom petals which Kazuto wields with great mastery.

Gifted with a considerable physical presence, the Senju has taken his gifts and combined them with effort, dedication and patience. Thanks to this he has emerged as an Adept of Taijutsu, as such while he cannot claim his abilities don't quite rival those who can claim to be true masters of the art, he can confidently fight other taijutsu users. Making use of the Ascendant Fist style as the foundation of his prowess with taijutsu, he has become able strike his foes with great strength and precision in close quarters with great expertise.

Might of Heroes


Descendant of a great lineage, the blood of great and legendary heroes of the clan courses through the veins of Kazuto as they do with any other Senju. As such he has been bestowed with robust pools of chakra upon his birth. Through intense training and countless missions these pools of chakra have expanded quite considerably, becoming a Furnace of Might within him, allowing him to fight for longer periods of time and casting powerful techniques without much concern to run out of stamina. Although this chakra makes his control suffer, his impressive reserves make up for this deficit in control.


Paragon of War

His mind is as keen and sharp as blade recently sharpened by a whetstone. Through the learning of tactics, records, on field experience and on the fly ingenuity, the Senju is able to plan before, during and after a fierce fray. It is thanks to this that he can discern the correct course of action and what stratagems and actions should he take. He is able to read and keep the Flow of Battle as flexible as possible. His tactics range from the most subtle ambush within dark corridors to even the most brutal and grim battlefield.

Fell-Handed

After much study and training, Kazuto achieved the ability to weave hand seals and cast techniques with just One Hand. A rare skill among shinobi and a sign of great prowess, the Senju is able to form hand signs forgoing the need to bring the digits of both his hands together, he is able to string a number of techniques without worrying during a fray to be unable to complete techniques if someone targets his hand, as he is able to defend himself with the off-hand by either the use of a technique or by wielding a weapon.

Yamanaka Tomomi Hyūga Shodaime Senju Kazuto

"Huh usually bandits don’t leave survivors. He’s pretty lucky they left him alive.”

As Tomomi continued to speak, the guards would watch them closely as they finished placing their bag on the ground. They would do the same to Shodaime before replying.

"You’ll get them back as long as you behave yourself.”

Before moving on, the guard on the left would scratch his chin curiously before looking at Shodaime more closely.

"You just let him go off on his own, even with his bad back? Judging on what you’ve been saying I assumed you all were pretty close. Perhaps I was mistaken.”

Shaking his head, the other guard would open the door behind them before motioning towards Tomomi and Shodaime.

"Over here.”

If they chose to follow him, one guard would show them where to stand in the small room while the other guard followed them from behind. Inside this smaller room, a spotted carpet would be removed to reveal a glistening metal hatch situated in the right side of the room. Knocking on the top of it sharply, the guard would wait a few moments before pulling it open. Taking one more glance at the two following him, he would step down into the opening and disappear from view.

"Follow him and mind your step.”

As the two walked down the dimly lit steps, the guard behind them would close the hatch, leaving the group’s only option to descend. Small candles in glass bowls perched on the wall would light the area, allowing the group to descend in the darkness. As the shadows flicked ominously, the group would finally stop descending after a few minutes of walking.

At the bottom of the steps would be another guard that would converse quickly with their escort before allowing the group to move onwards. The new area they arrived in would be various hallways filled with mysterious rooms behind closed doors. A multitude of guards could be seen patrolling here and there, so if one wanted to sneak their way through, they would have to time their movements perfectly with no mistakes. And although most of the sound was muffled, those with keen ears would notice the sound of sobbing behind some of the doors they passed. Something more darker than just rebellion was going on here.

The moment Kazuto spoke, the scarred guard would charge at him with an overhead strike. Thanks to his quick speed, he would dodge her first set of blows, allowing him to launch his pollen throughout the room. Noticing the suspicious golden haze, Suki would bark out orders to her partner.

"Yua to me!”

Immediately after saying this, Suki would perform a set of handseals before throwing out four tags 2 meters away from her. The moment Yua got close enough, the red haired woman would perform one more handseal, causing a barrier to appear around them in the shape of a six sided cube. Because of this, the nearby pollen would flow around the barrier uselessly, allowing the women within to be protected.

Crouching protectively next to Suki, Yua would take out a seal of her own before pressing down on it, causing it to glow blue for a brief moment. Stashing it into her pocket once the deed was done, she would look towards Kazuto angrily.

"We gave you a chance. That was your only one rebel scum.”

On the other side of the room, the door would open up fully, showing the arrival of two new guards. Noticing the situation, one of the guards would turn behind him and shout for assistance. It wouldn’t be long until more reinforcements arrived.

Avoiding the pollen and charging towards Kazuto, the staff wielding guard on the left would aim towards his legs once he got close enough in an attempt to sweep him off his feet. The guard on the right would attempt to slash open Kazuto with his sword if he managed to reach the disguised man in time.

All in all, the room was filled with chaos. The door behind Suki was locked while the door behind the guard was opened, with more reinforcements coming through. And now that part of his cover had been blown, Kazuto would need to be careful with his next set of actions.

NAME: Ninpou: Kakou Kekkai [Ninja Art: Enclosing Barrier]

DESCRIPTION:

The user performs a couple hand seals and then take four sealing formula tags and places them across the area. When placed, the user can activate them by doing one more seal which forms a solid translucent barrier in the shape of a six sided cube. This barrier, with maximum potential, can withstand up to a ton of pressure before breaking. However its strength greatly diminishes depending on the space between each tag. When at maximum strength the tags will be placed about 3 m away from each other. For every half meter the tags are placed away from each other, the strength of the barrier halves.

YAMANAKA TOMOMI

NINGYO/HIDARI

The two guards questioned Tomomi and Shodaime's decision to leave their friend alone. Instead of continuing to weave the web of lies, Tomomi chose to look sheepish, as though embarrassed of their actions. Sometimes it was better to let expressions speak instead of trying to weave excuse after excuse. If you kept trying to seem talkative and perfectly convincing, you would eventually say something contradictory or suspicious. Even the greatest actors in all the world had a pit of their true self hidden in their center. Lies were a tool to be used sparingly.

As they descended into the inner sanctum, Tomomi tried to make note of all they could. Just finding this place was already resolving the request of the Daimyo. They were certain that something nefarious was going on and they'd even found an important base of operations. Mounting a proper attempt to clear them out would be all the easier now that this place was located. ...It was just a matter of making it out. Shodaime and them would need to keep their cover and make it out of here alive without inciting any suspicion in order to deliver what they had learned.

A small issue came into play, though. Some kilometers away, Tomomi's sensory abilities caught a flare of familiar chakra. Kazuto. It appeared that he had somehow come into a fight. Whichever way he had elected to go, it seemed it had been dangerous. However, the two of them were in the belly of the beast. Leaving right now would not be easy, and it would come across as wildly suspicious.

They would just have to keep observing Kazuto. If the fight continued for long and it seemed to them that he might be in true danger, they would find a good excuse to leave and make way to him as quickly as possible.

If they could just find a moment of alone time, they might be able to produce a clone that could sneak out and join him... Worst comes to worst, use one of their clan techniques... This was about to get much more stressful.

They would continue to act the part for now.

"This place is a bit spooky," they said, bringing their hands up in front of themself with a nervous giggle. "To think there's this whole compound under that restaurant... It must have taken a lot of work."

[Hyūga Shodaime]

Shodaime would look away in embarrassment as the guards mentioned the two leaving their friend behind. Another act to get them to believe they're just two merchants here to help. She almost blew their cover in describing that they left Kazuto. For now she would choose her words carefully when spoken to. The underground bunker was pretty intimidating, anyone could be taken down here and never heard from again if they weren't careful. She wondered how many people had been taken down here, whether it was to be recruited for the rebellion or taken prisoner.

Shodaime would continue following the guards and Tomomi, walking deeper into the underbelly of the restaurant. As they continued forward the lights would grow dimmer and dimmer and the sounds of sobs would be heard. It seems her suspicions were correct that people had been taken and held prisoner down here. It made sense, if you were taken then no one would be able to find you down here. Something was definitely going on here and she had hoped that they may be able to free whoever was down here. Though before that, they needed to collect information for the Daimyo about the goings on here.

"This is all pretty intimidating." Shodaime would say "I didn't think there was something like this here."

[Senju Kazuto]

Rebel Scum. The words sounded in his mind as he heard the scarred woman label him as a rebel. He had been called many things during his service to the village. Assassin. Thief. Murderer. Bastard even. But rebel scum never and those words struck a cord as he saw that he was being flanked. These were not his enemies, or at the very least they were aligned with the interest of the daimyo of the land of tea either by loyalty or by contract. He had act fast so he would not turn possible allies into likely enemies. First he needed to deal with what was unfolding at the moment, as not only he had the enemies that sought to overpower him now, but soon he would have more fight more unless he contained them and buy enough time to convince them he wasn't their enemy. Finishing the set of hand seals he went into completing the sequence that he had been forging in a second and his body was energized, moving in the blink of an eye and leaving a trail of white haze as the enemies would find themselves striking at the very air if they didn't struck against each other. Reappearing in a golden cloud of pollen, weaving another set of hand signs and promptly releasing his own chakra one more. The room would shake violently as the floor splintered and broke and branches of trees emerges in the blink of an eye. A ring of trees would surround, as more and more sought to branches and trees emerged blocking the entrance, attempting to seize those that were present and slapping against the barrier that the once chirpy woman had erected until silence would remain in the room and the disguised Senju stared at the woman and the lingering clouds of golden dust that promised sleep. "Listen to me!" Kazuto said, raising his voice and as he did the appearance of the merchant vanished like molten wax and a oni in the face of man stood in the room. His voice leaving the rattle of before and sounding mechanic as it filtered through the grills of the breathing mask. "You are agents of the daimyo?" He asked and raised a hand and went to his pocket, retrieving a scroll that bore the seal of the land of tea and that of the daimyo that corroborated the story. "I am a ninja from Konohagakure... I was hired by the lord of this land to root out this so called rebel scum...." He added before nodding his helm towards the scroll to then slowly would roll it towards the woman behind her barrier for her to collect and read if she believed him. "We're not enemies." He pleaded, as much as a man that wore the face of a demon could plead, yet he hoped that the fact that her compatriots had been detained but no injured had been enough to buy him some credit.

Often times one's movements are disguised with the use of an extra element, be it a smoke bomb, leaves, water, sand, etc. in order to hide the user's trajectory from those with skilled eyes. Though it mimics teleportation, it is important to remember this jutsu merely boosts the agility of its user. As useful as this technique is, it can only be used 4 times in a battle thread, compounding in exertion and difficulty each time. with any more usages beyond that result in muscle tears in the legs from overexertion. The hand seal for this technique must be held until the shinobi reaches their destination, making it impossible to utilize other techniques regardless of any preparation.

An adept of shadows, Kazuto has shown himself to be quite proficient in the art of Assassination. He acts as a clinical apparition as he moves towards his enemies, driven by a relentless and ruthless zeal to dispatch his target and those that stand between him and his quarry with a cold and calculated fury that is unleashed in quick bursts as he launches himself against the enemy, striking fear as he leaves an ever present trail of vanquished enemies behind and very few, if any enemies behind at all.

Yamanaka Tomomi Hyūga Shodaime Senju Kazuto

"Part of the point.”

Turning back to glance at Shodaime, the guard escorting them would answer her statement before looking over to Tomomi. Staring at them for a second or two, the guard would turn back around and continue walking until they were stopped by another door guarded by another guard. Conversing with him quietly, the guard outside the door would nod his head before knocking on the door. Entering the room quietly, he would disappear for a few moments before returning to his post. Turning to look at the group, he would begin to speak in a no nonsense manner.

"Once you’re inside no funny business. Don’t try to joke around and treat Lady Tempest with all the respect she deserves. If you don’t you won’t be leaving here.”

With these ominous parting words, the guard would open the set of double doors behind him. Inside of the room would be what seemed to be an office, judging by the mahogany desk and the woman sitting behind it. Various bookshelves and cabinets would be situated neatly on the side with a beautifully designed carpet on the floor. It was well designed, pretty enough to be impressive, but humble enough to not be gaudy.

The woman behind the desk would look to be in her late twenties with short orange hair. Sky blue piercing eyes would survey the group and the light of the room would gleam off of her glossed lips. Her body would be covered in various pieces of leather armor, leaving only her face and hands unprotected. And although she was merely sitting, she gave off the aura of a prowling tiger. Not only that, but thanks to Tomomi’s mind’s eye, they would be able to sense she had the power to back her aura up. This was no mere civilian. No, this was someone much worse. An enemy as strong as they.

The two doors would close behind Tomomi and Shodaime as the guard escorting them would place himself to the left and out of the way. As the two disguised shinobi stood in the middle of the room, Lady Tempest would continue working as if their entrance hadn’t occurred. The only sound in the room would be her pen scribbling away at what looked like important files.

Crashing into each other painfully, the two guards attacking Kazuto would grimace as the man they were trying to hit vanished before their eyes. Before they could pick themselves up, the branches and roots that emerged from the ground would wind around them, trapping them in its wooden grasp. Sounds of something hitting the roots near the open door would sound out as reinforcements began to attempt breaking through. Fortunately the wood created was quite sturdy, and it would be a while until the guards managed to break through.

"How convenient. The moment you’re discovered you claim to be working from Konohagakure? One of our allies? Yet you’re still attacking us all the while. How curious, that your actions and words are so different.”

The scroll would remain untouched as Suki kept up the barrier while Yua continued to converse with Kazuto. Judging from her stance and words, it seemed the two didn’t believe Kazuto. Not at all.

"Put away your weapons and cease your jutsu. Then perhaps we can talk.”

Taking a deep breath, Yua would then push off the ground and charge Kazuto, avoiding the nearby roots by moving in a zig-zag pattern. If she got close enough, she would swing her baton strongly towards his hand, in an attempt to cripple him.

Usagi Sanpo is the art of moving really fast, in a nonlinear direction. The user approaches the target in a zig-zag pattern, pouncing left and right while facing the opponent. Due to speed of the movement, and the irregular pattern, they are often confused as to when or how to strike, thus leaving them aghast until it's too late.

This was the core room. The center of it all. Having the directions here was incredibly important. If they were able to leave here alive and report back to the Daimyo, they would have information on exactly where the leader of this whole operation sat. Or, if not the leader, at least someone incredibly high up in the chain, organizing these rebellious behaviors. Lady Tempest.

She seemed like quite the intimidating force, even sat at her desk. The armor implied a willingness to fight on the spot. Preparation for the idea that she might be attacked at any second. She was not comfortable. She was ready. That meant it was all the more important to continue treading carefully. If they were revealed as fakes, agents of the tea country's leader, she would likely not be surprised. The chances of her being prepared for a return assault were high.

She did not greet either of them. Continued to write. Treat the lady with all the respect she deserves. This implied a certain level of self-importance. To interrupt would likely be seen as rude. They needed to seem reverent to play the part well. After a moment of silence, they bowed, quietly, hoping that their quiet respect would be acknowledged and she would end up speaking to them. If Shodaime wanted to take the lead and initiate conversation, they would completely understand and support that decision as well, though.

[Hyūga Shodaime]

The woman that sat at the desk before them was far more intimidating than she expected. Her sky blue eyes and fiery red haired, paired with the armor she was wearing made her out to be extremely intimidating, even if she were just behind the desk. She would heed the guard's words and choose her next words carefully, as she didn't want to disrespect Lady Tempest.

"Thank you, Lady Tempest, for allowing us a chance to join your group. We hope we can be of use to helping out your group." Shodaime would say as she bowed to the woman at the desk. Having already been pretty much trained to be respectful to people of the Main Branch of the Hyuga clan, Shodaime would already know the proper etiquette of talking to someone of higher status. She knew to keep her words short and sweet and to not seem to forceful in her approach. She didn't know how long they would have to keep up with the charade and she hoped it would be soon that they would be allowed to leave the restaurant. They had all the info they needed for the Daimyo of the Tea Country to put an end to the rebellion against the country.

[Senju Kazuto]

The fact that the woman didn't believe him after what had transpired wasn't something that bothered him. It was something he had been in the need to defuse for it had been a situation of his own creation. But as he stood in the midst of the cloud of pollen and surrounded by the creation of his techniques that came from his kekkei genkai, he wondered if the scarred woman and the once bubbly personality had never seen the might of Mokuton in display. Surely they must've put two and two together for a traitor Senju was almost an anathema. Yet they wouldn't buy it, they would not see the forest but rather the trees in front of them, it was apt he supposed. And as an order to lay down his arms and be submitted to their jurisdiction came and went, he heard the steps of the scarred woman, turning and seeing to her credit that she was able to dodge the sentient trees that snaked about and sought to trap her, trying to charge at him as if that would do anyone good. He sighed, his mask turning it into a metallic rattle as chakra would be sent to his feet and well drilled training would compel him to move as the woman approached, reducing his profile and then spinning upon himself as the strike from the baton would fly over him and the momentum carried the woman to the embrace of a tree that sneaked with unnatural life, branches opening like the loving arms of any lover before she would be trapped and kept in place, leaving only Kazuto and the woman behind the barrier, Kazuto dashing away thanks to his new found speed. "I don't suppose you have met anyone that has used Mokuton in the past." He said as he walked among the trees that he had created, branches and trunks began to grow against the barrier. "Anyways... This is a misunderstanding... But I will point out, none of you are dead or injured. Merely restrained or knocked by the pollen that my techniques produce." He said as his hand reached for his mask and he took a breath as he was about to break a cardinal rule of ANBU, but for this once, it was for the best. As the mask was pulled and his features revealed, the headband on his forehead was visible to the woman behind that stood inside the barrier and a part of him hoped that she would be able to recognize the head of the Senju Clan when she saw it, if she knew who he was. "As I was saying, I am from Konohagakure, we're not enemies." He said as he calmly explained the situation with a chilling and detached tone that mirrored hers. "My companions might be in the belly of the beast... We can work together and rid out the canker of rebellion from your country or you may leave me on my way to rejoin my teammates." He said, leaving a third option unspoken. Either they acquiesced to either or the benevolence he had shown would be ended and he would be forced to slay anyone that stood between him and his mission. "So, what shall it be?"

Apart from enhancing speed, this technique gives the user the ability to walk on water and evade projectile attacks with ease.

DESCRIPTION:
Utilizing chakra in the feet, ankles and legs specifically. It is a small amount of energy, but used precisely on reflexes and timing. This technique is gauged this way. When timed, the user can twist themselves abruptly out of the way of an attack. Like a speedy side-step, but a rotation of one's body to the side. A spin-move. This is only attacks in an immediate vicinity(three meters) anything else is too big an attack. Usually Taijutsu, but sometimes this technique is effective against close-range ninjutsu.

The Branching Path

A true-born Senju, Kazuto has mastered Mokuton. Hailed as the one greatest master of the Kekkei Genkai, his abilities with Mokuton are held in high regard, mastering the many techniques for which the clan is renown whilst also bending his ingenuity to create a discipline of his own referred by those within the clan as merely the branching path and by him as Senbonzakura. His techniques can either be great in power and scope or subtle and deceptively simple, creating either durable wooden constructs, imaginative tools for a wide range of occasions or deadly hails storms of cherry blossom petals which Kazuto wields with great mastery.

Crimson Fist


Gifted with a considerable physical presence, the Senju has taken his gifts and combined them with effort, dedication and patience. Thanks to this he has emerged as an Adept of Taijutsu, as such while he cannot claim his abilities don't quite rival those who can claim to be true masters of the art, he can confidently fight other taijutsu users. Making use of the Ascendant Fist style as the foundation of his prowess with taijutsu, he has become able strike his foes with great strength and precision in close quarters with great expertise.

Might of Heroes


Descendant of a great lineage, the blood of great and legendary heroes of the clan courses through the veins of Kazuto as they do with any other Senju. As such he has been bestowed with robust pools of chakra upon his birth. Through intense training and countless missions these pools of chakra have expanded quite considerably, becoming a Furnace of Might within him, allowing him to fight for longer periods of time and casting powerful techniques without much concern to run out of stamina. Although this chakra makes his control suffer, his impressive reserves make up for this deficit in control.


Fell-Handed

After much study and training, Kazuto achieved the ability to weave hand seals and cast techniques with just One Hand. A rare skill among shinobi and a sign of great prowess, the Senju is able to form hand signs forgoing the need to bring the digits of both his hands together, he is able to string a number of techniques without worrying during a fray to be unable to complete techniques if someone targets his hand, as he is able to defend himself with the off-hand by either the use of a technique or by wielding a weapon.

Yamanaka Tomomi Hyūga Shodaime Senju Kazuto

After Shodaime finished speaking, the orange haired woman’s pen continued writing for a few moments before suddenly stopping. Placing her pen down gently, Lady Tempest brought her eyes upward and stared at Shodaime with an intense glare. As she looked her over silently, no other emotion would be seen on her face as she spoke in a crisp tone.

"Who gave you permission to speak?”

In a flurry of movement, Lady Tempest was suddenly over her desk and directly in Shodaime’s face. The action was so quick, that the two would barely have any time to react. Their noses would almost be touching as the rebel leader invaded Shodaime’s personal space to get her answer.

"Whether I use you or not is up to me. And so far, I’m not impressed. Punishment is in order for speaking out of turn, is it not?”

Taking a step back from Shodaime, Lady Tempest would turn around and tilt her head upward in obvious though for a few moments. Then, as quickly as a lightning bolt, she would turn around with the back of her hand slicing through the air towards Shodaime. It seemed the punishment for interruption would be a powerful blow to the older woman’s face. And with how close Lady Tempest was to her, the blow would be extremely hard to dodge.

As her body moved, Lady Tempest would casually glance at Tomomi’s side to watch them as well. She was prepared to deal with any retaliation swiftly and with no mercy. And judging from how the guard was holding his spear, he was ready to help when required as well.

Struggling in vain against the branches covered her body, Yua would grimace in annoyance. She was outmatched. It was pretty clear from the start, but it was her job to repel intruders, no matter their strength. Plus she had managed to buy a little time for the reinforcements. Not much, but even a little time went a long way in the grand scheme of things.

Staring up at where Kazuto was walking, Suki responded in an irritable tone.

"No, but I heard of it. I’ve also heard of rogue Senju. It is rare, but still quite possible. I’ve seen stranger things after all.”

Watching the branches encroach over her barrier warily, the red haired woman continued her speech after seeing Kazuto remove his mask.

"Still evidence does point to the contrary. Release your techniques and free my men, then we can talk.”

As Suki waited in her barrier for Kazuto’s response, the roots near the open door would begin to break away, announcing the arrival of more guards.

As the sharp sound of the slap resounded through the room, Tomomi felt an internal twist of agitation and sympathy. So the guard hadn't been joking when he said to treat her with intense respect. She was the sort who expected nothing less than kneeling for her, was she? What was an egoist like that doing running a movement like this anyways? These poor fools were trading one "problem" for another, in Tomomi's opinion.

Some part of them coiled with the desire to jump to Shodaime's defense, but doing something like that would be a death wish in this situation. While they believed in their ability to defend themself with ninjutsu alone, it was still a deadly situation to be in. Surrounded, inside an enemy base. Tomomi was very familiar with this sort of mission. Be careful. Be stealthy. Get the information out. It mattered more than the instinct to fight.

Play the part.

Tomomi brought their hands up over their mouth to mask a gasp. Pretend to be shocked, anxious, subdued into quiet respect. Then they put their hands back down at their side and shifted, standing up straight, trying even better to look respectful and attentive.

Would Shodaime react quite so well, though? She was not a stealth specialist, and was a taijutsu expert. Her immediate reaction to such an attack might be more severe.

[Hyūga Shodaime]

Shodaime would try to brace herself for whatever came her way from Lady Tempest. Though it seemed as though she wasn't fast enough as the Lady would send a slap towards her face. The sound of the slap would resonate through the entire room, as Shodaime would fall to the ground holding her slapped cheek. She badly wanted to retaliate against the woman who had struck her, but she knew she needed to play her part in the deception. Noting that Tomomi was doing the same, Shodaime would stand back up, still clutching her face and quietly stand there waiting for what Lady Tempest would do next.

There was no use in attacking the woman just yet, they just needed to find a way out of the basement of this restaurant. Shodaime needed to continue the act of a merchant trying to better their life with help from the rebels. She would bow slightly to Lady Tempest, a look of anxiety and nervousness on her face. She would be on guard the entire time, if Lady Tempest attempted another strike on her.

[Senju Kazuto]

To say he didn't have much option was a blatant lie. Pointless of a thought as it was, if he had wanted to rip through the men that the once bubbly woman commanded he could do so with almost a contemptuous ease. He imagined that he could also tear down the barrier that she had erected, pressing the still living trees against it until it care away or broke through the floor and catch her. There were a thousand and one ways that he could do the deed, but that would mean leaving the only possible trail to find his teammates save for one of his wolves and if this were indeed loyalist elements to the daimyo they could be useful to expunge the canker of sedition. He would give her a court nod and cross his arms before his chest flicking hand signs under the crook of his arm as a precaution. "As you wish." He said and just with a word a groan was heard in the room and the trees that had moved as with a life of their own would stop, the restrains on those that he had captured would stop containing them and instead spread like the entrance to a cage that bid its occupant to leave with the solemn promise that no harm would be done to them. He eyed the scarred woman and her other compatriots, allowing them ease of movement and for those trapped outside to hack the trees that no longer would heal the wounds that sword or axe made making it easier for those that were on the other side of the barrier to cut it open and reach towards their allies. "I have completed my part of the bargain..." He said, looking over his shoulder to were the scarred woman and the other two men were and then back to women behind the barrier with an expecting look upon his eyes. "Will you uphold yours?" He asked and waited.

Yamanaka Tomomi Hyūga Shodaime Senju Kazuto

Stopping her hand right before it struck Shodaime, Lady Tempest would watch the wind from the force of her blow ruffle Shodaime’s hair. As Shodaime fell to the ground in shock, Lady Tempest would walk back to her seat calmly and sit down. Eyeing her nails for a moment, the short haired woman would let out a sigh before redirecting her gaze towards her two guests.

"Be more cognizant of when to speak my dear. Others won’t be as kind as me.”

Stopping her speech abruptly, Lady Tempest would wait quietly until Shodaime gathered herself once more. The pain would be nonexistent since the blow didn’t land, but the shock and fear would still be there. She often found that the implication of violence was much better than actually performing the deed over the years.

"I do find myself interested in what you and your friend have to offer though. Pray tell, what made you come our way? This line of work isn't for the fainthearted.”

Placing her hands gently on her lap, Lady Tempest would wait quietly for a response. The past few moments had been a whirlwind of confusion and emotion, but the two shinobi were finally where they wanted to be.

As the branches retreated, Yua would let out an annoyed sigh as she was freed. Looking at Suki shamefully, she would scratch her head before shrugging her shoulders. She was just a bodyguard, an outmatched one at that. It was time for those with higher status to deal with the mess that had been made.

"It seems I must.”

Releasing her barrier, Suki would survey the battlefield before looking past Kazuto and towards Yua.

"Tell the reinforcements to stand down. We have a misunderstanding on our hands.”

Sending the other guards in the opposite direction to spread the news, Suki redirected her attention to her old opponent.

"I guess you could say your disguise was too effective. And since you're here, I’m assuming you have no leads on the rebels?”

If Suki had known he was a Konoha ninja, she would have planned things much differently. Unfortunately this was one such risk in her line of work. Kazuto could have easily been a rebel just as he was a supporter. There was just no way to know until it was too late. It was a setback, but not too harsh of one. Things could have gone much worse after all.

This woman is... How baffling. An interesting individual, surely. Tomomi would love to pick her brain, given the time. They obviously would not have that time here, though. Maybe months from now, when a capture was secured, or something of the like. They weren't particularly involved in the interrogation division anymore, but a Yamanaka's skills were always something considered useful. They should focus on the mission at hand for now. She had moved from the posturing threats to actual conversation, in as confusing a manner as possible, so Tomomi would continue to play the part to get out of here as soon as possible.

"Uhm," they began, still playing up that nervousness. "Well... We admittedly don't have much to offer," they confess. "One of ours used to be a blacksmith, but he's not with us right now. And he injured his back, so..." They fuss with their hair, twisting a strand between their fingers. "We were just interested when we heard about the work you're doing. We're tired of the government doing nothing for us and bandits running free. So we wanted to try to help. We're just merchants, though." No good for combat, so they won't have to promise any physical prowess. It's a good cover and makes them seem less threatening.

"We could help move supplies, maybe? We have a wagon." It was part of the life of the lowly citizen, that there would be little to offer. Rebellions are often made of such people.
